The Damai, Lovina, North Bali - Explore & Book

"You get a fantastic view when you're tucked up high on this mountainside. Surrounded by lush upland forests, overlooking the North Coast by Lovina Bay, these Balinese-style villas let you hide away from frantic southern Bali. Lovina is famous for its dolphin watching and laid-back tropical charm. And if you're into organic gardens, you'll love The Damai's orchards full of tropical fruit and veg, ranging from vanilla to dragon's-eye fruit; they've also opened an organic farm. With all this to hand, people make special trips just to the restaurant. If you want a break from its massage treatments and gentle ocean breeze, Danish-owned The Damai gives you more ideas than days: treks to waterfalls; diving and snorkelling excursions; local markets; bird-watching and painting. Or if you want to laze away the pre-cocktail hour watching films, there's a huge library to choose from. Damai means 'peaceful', and sitting beneath the crimson bougainvillea, looking out to sea, that's just what it is. Highs Immense hypnotic views of the bay, plantations and mountains - poolside cocktails at sunset are fabulousJust 15 villas in a peaceful verdant setting, and all are butler-serviced 24 hours a dayScouting out the different exotic fruits in their organic garden - they are passionate about the hotel's eco-projectsNorth Bali is far less commercialised than the south - up here, you get a much better insight into the local way of lifeWide range of cultural and nature-based trips and activities on offer Lows A 3-hour drive from Denpasar airport (and thankfully off the beaten track) so best combined with an overnight stay in the south (eg. Jimbaran Bay)No direct beach access (this is more of a rural retreat although the hotel offers a free shuttle for the 10-minute drive to Lovina)The lava sands of the northern beaches are dark grey but the snorkelling and diving nearby are excellentNot for those seeking nightlife - most guests head back to their rooms after dinner" - Aidan Forestier-Walker

"You may feel as though you’ve already seen Bali from a few different angles. But it’s fair to say that until you’ve been to Damai, your knowledge of the island is partial at best. Around the north side of Bali, on a mountainside above the cliffs of Lovina Bay, stand fourteen mod-Balinese villas, hidden away amid acres of forested land. It’s just about as far as you can get — in a way that’s not entirely figurative — from the nightlife of Denpasar, that’s for sure." - Tablet Hotels

A Hidden Gem in Northern Bali – Truly 5 Stars!|Our stay at The Damai was simply outstanding and deserves more than 5 stars. This boutique hotel is a peaceful oasis tucked away in the hills of Lovina — serene, luxurious, and full of charm.|Our Balinese-style room was beautifully furnished and immaculately maintained. Every detail throughout the property reflects exceptional quality and care. The staff went above and beyond every single day. Special shoutouts to Vulan at the front desk, Davet who remembered our breakfast favorites each morning (the food is absolutely delicious and sourced from their own organic garden), and Windi and Mrs. Resmini, who gave us the best massages we've ever had. And our driver, Mr. Ketut Widana, made exploring the area an absolute pleasure.|Though we stayed 4 nights, we wished we had stayed longer. The Damai offers a daily shuttle into town, but the real magic is in the peaceful surroundings. It’s a true hidden gem and one we can't wait to return to.|Highly recommend for anyone seeking a unique and relaxing Bali experience.

Everything about this hotel is top quality - we had a really relaxing stay and didn't want to leave. Some of our highlights:||1. Wonderful friendly service from Andres and everyone at the hotel - there are many Balinese staff from the local village in the team who care passionately about the future of the hotel and that you enjoy every minute of your time there - its what makes this a very special place|2. Really excellent cooking at every meal - particularly liked the organic fresh fruit and vegetables from the gardens and local area that form the centrepiece of the menu|3. Great bar and barman with fresh juices, cocktails and homemade extra botanicals added to our G&T!|4. Outstanding massage and beauty treatments using only natural ingredients at the hotel spa|5. Tour round the hotel gardens - feels like a million miles away from the mad busy South of Bali |6. Excursions organised by the hotel around the local area, including dolphin watching in Lovina bay|7. Lovely room & interior decor throughout the hotel with traditional Balinese furniture and fresh flowers and fruit|8. Early morning yoga with the hotel team in the pavilion - very peaceful and spiritual experience||We would return in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommended

We stayed at The Damai for a week and absolutely loved every moment of it. The staff were so lovely and genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay special, such thoughtful and attentive service throughout. Our room was stunning, beautifully designed, immaculately clean, and incredibly comfortable. One of the absolute highlights was the breakfast and afternoon tea, both included in our stay. So delicious, we looked forward to it every single day! They also offered a convenient shuttle service into Lovina, which made exploring the area super easy and stress-free. From the peaceful atmosphere to the incredible service, amazing food, and thoughtful extras, everything was just perfect. We had such a wonderful stay and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious experience in Lovina!

Multiple stays and meals. TOP quality in all aspects, my favorite mixologist in the world, Dewi; I’ve never asked for anything other than his choice and I’ve never been disappointed. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper, bar snacks or a fully personalized wedding dinner have all been excellent. We’ve stayed in rooms from the garden villa to the top suite, they’re all good, enjoy. The gardens are lovely and the massages are very good. You pay to stay here, but the quality explains the cost.

Incredible hotel in Lovina. It's 3 - 3.5 hours drive from the airport, but totally worth it. 14 gorgeous rooms and villas within a lush tropical garden. Ours had not one, but two private pools. The food is the best we had in Indonesia - really creative cooking and great flavours, with a lot of the vegetables directly from the gardens. The massages were great, and the whole staff could not have been more helpful - nothing was too much trouble. It is a long drive from the airport, but there are good stopping points on route and once you're out of Denpasar, the traffic isn't too bad. The hotel's transfer service was great for us.|Highly recommend visiting.

The best villas ever) the villas are as clean as it’s builder only yesterday, room service is as fast as cheetah and the list of free hotel services you’ll be read till the midnight) staying in the Damai hotel you’ll never hear any noises except the sounds of nature (birds, frogs and water ambience sounds). |And there are three continental type breakfast which include so many dishes and options that it looks like a smorgasbord type than the continental one.||Free parking, free baggy (mini-car) for taking you to any villa within hotel territory, free car to take you to any place around the Damai hotel)
