The Daniels House Inn

My best friend and I visited Salem to celebrate turning 40. We booked The Daniels House and stayed in the West India room. It was so cute and charming! We were an interested in how the shared bathroom experience was going ton work since that room shares a bathroom with the Marion room, but it was just fine. The house is incredible and has such history which made the entire experience. It’s close enough to everything that you can walk, however, at the last minute we had to rent a car and Patrick was great with accommodating us. There are parking spots on site for each room and it was SO convenient! The Continental breakfast in the beautiful dining area was so nice! It was much appreciated to have hot coffee and a little something in the mornings before we got going for the day. We really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend if you want a lovely little authentic experience staying in Salem.

Me LOVED staying at this Chalet! It was the perfect set up for our family vacation! It was very clean had a well stocked kitchen and the beds were SO comfy! Patrick was a fantastic communicator, he answered my messages promptly. We would definitely stay here again!!

Absolutely amazing and one of my favorite places in Salem. Adele and Patrick were wonderful. The house was stunning. It was an honor to be able to stay here for a few nights in October during busy season. My husband and I stayed in the Great Room. The room itself and the dinning area below were some of the oldest yet most charming rooms in the house. A magical stay + beautiful old school charm. Close to The House of Seven Gables and the Wharf. Can’t wait to visit again. 10/10

This house is amazing. Its clean homeie feeling and feels like you stepped back i to time. I want to come back and stay in another one of the themed rooms. They have an amazing wifi set up best one ever. Staff was great at communicating when needed. Would highly recommend this house.

The Daniels House is perfectly located within walking distance of pretty much everything we wanted to see while visiting Salem. It seems unreal when you consider the history of the home and that you are staying in a place that existed 100 years before the Declaration of Independence. The home is decorated nicely and everything was very comfortable. We stayed 4 nights in the Great Room, which provided us with a private bathroom and a reserved parking spot. I’ve seen some derogatory comments in the reviews, but we were more than happy with everything. This is not a B&B, you are renting a room. We did meet the owners and they were very nice and welcoming, but they are not on top of you all the time and leave you to enjoy your vacation. We never needed anything, but I have no doubt they would have handled any concerns immediately. The breakfast provided consisted of mini muffins (that my wife absolutely loved), a variety of breads and bagels, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, orange juice, etc. It provided a good start to the day. All in all, the Daniels House was a great place to stay and we considered it to be one of the best experiences in lodging that we have had. We are history lovers, so just being able to stay at this location was a privilege. So glad the owners are making their home available. Thank you!

My teenage daughter and I stayed here last month. Let’s just start with the location. It’s beautifully located and everything is walkable. The beds were super comfy, and the place is absolutely charming. Now my daughter absolutely adored it and would go back, but just know that the shower is slightly cramped. She said now she knows what Will Ferrell in Elf felt like., but it was an authentic experience, so it didn’t bother her at all, nor me. The home was clean and pristine. Yeah it’s really a unique and unexplainable experience, but I am so happy we got to do it. The communication was out of this world. Clearly the owners take pride in their property, and it shows in several ways, from the extensive breakfast to the care of the amenities. We were in the India room, and it came with parking that was off-street. As with any Ben and breakfast, you may interact with the other guests, but they were all lovely.. most people going to a bed-and-breakfast are looking for a similar experience.

We loved our stay at the Daniels House Inn. The rooms felt very authentic to the time. We stayed in the Marion room, which had 6 foot ceilings. We found that fun and charming. My teenager enjoyed all the historical details like the light switches and the art. The hosts were very easy to work with and were welcoming. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see, and had some delicious food in the neighborhood. When we come back, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

I stayed with my family at the Daniels House Inn for a week in the East India Room and the Marion Room. There were 4 adults and one child and the accommodations were great! We loved the breakfast that was provided every day, the mini marmalade filled muffins were truly amazing! The Inn is located in a perfect position to walk to all of the prominent Salem historical sites. Patrick and Adele were fantastic hosts and were always available for any questions. If you stay there, be sure to ask to visit the Inn’s gift shop! The rooms were beautiful and very cozy. I highly recommend Daniels House to anyone visiting Salem.

Didn't get to take the tour, it seemed a little expensive to me... but I felt like it did offer much more bang for your buck then some other near by attractions. And honestly I would have paid it but we were almost out of our fun money for the trip. I will probably do it next time, or honestly staying here would be really cool!

Great day for a visit! Worth the drive Spent the day in Salem. Very comforting! conveniently located.

So, the history of this place is what enticed me. We stayed in the Marion room. Yes the stairs were extremely narrow, but what do you expect when it's an old house? That was fine. We shared a bathroom, which was also fine because everything seemed to be in good condition and clean. My issue in the bathroom was the shower curtain that was inside the bathtub. I understand they do that to avoid getting water onto the original floors. However, the shower curtains were gross because I don't know how other people shower and what kind of stuff is left behind in those shower curtains because they were extremely long and there was no room to stand in the actual tub. If you were in the shower, you have to be standing on the shower curtain and that's gross. I did not see the proprietor, I heard children laughing, and playing and squealing, which is not a problem, but I'm assuming it was him and his family because they never walked out of one of the little rooms on the first floor. It would have been nice to be greeted considering that it is a very small bed-and-breakfast as they advertise it. The breakfast was nonexistent. I checked multiple times there was a kettle with some kind of brown teabags that had no label. The breakfast really consisted of a tray of different breads and bagels with a butter dish. There was a basket of apples and oranges. I did peek into the small refrigerator that they had and there was yogurt as well as expired fruit cups in syrup. I was very surprised because it expired November 10 and it was already at the end of November, I did send a text to the Owner and did not get a response back. I asked what the breakfast portion of our stay includes. There were also eggs in the refrigerator and I'm not sure if they were hard boiled or if they were there to request an omelette. None of that information was given. I expected a bed and breakfast to actually, have some type of lively breakfast and unfortunately expectations went unmet. The room that we had was gorgeous and had everything we needed. Once I figured out how to open the windows, I was able to feel better because the house got extremely hot probably because it was cold outside, they probably turned on the heating batteries. We closed all the windows tidied up the linens and checked out. We ate in different cafés and restaurants, but did not have breakfast at this bed-and-breakfast. The house was full of doors that looked intriguing and mysterious, locked and unopened. The decor is gorgeous and very mysterious. The experience overall was a good one.

This beautiful historic inn is located within easy walking distance of everything you would want to see in Salem. It is a very old house, so you need to get used to some narrow stairs and low-ceilinged spaces as everyone was both shorter yet had longer legs in the olden days. We stayed in the upper floor Rajah room, which has its own private bathroom as well as a claw-footed tub near the front of the main area, for those who like bubbles with their bedsheets. The continental breakfast was mainly carbs and coffee as well as some granola bars, bananas and apples. Enough to get you filled up for a bit and on your way to doing some sightseeing. We met Patrick a couple of times in the very quiet dining area as he emerged in cuckoo clock like fashion from an almost secret door near the fireplace. He seems shy around people, so it would help greatly to have someone there to give us some kind of history of the place. From old reviews there apparently was a tour guide at one point but he seems to have vanished like a ghost. The dining room could also use some kind of low, ambient music to liven up the somewhat gloomy atmosphere a bit. Overall it was a good place to spend some time in the 'ol Witch City and I would recommend giving it a try.

Such a beautiful experience at Daniel's Inn. This tour changed my life. Literally. Our host was so amazing. He just gave us a complete tour and made us feel like we came over to our friend's house. There's so much to say but so little space. What I can say is that next time I come to Salem I will be staying here. This tour gave me a deeper insight into the history of not just the witch trial, but Salem. And in general put me in the shoes of the people living in the 1600s. I realize that the term "witch" isn't exactly what everyone thinks and it's not always evil. But that's something that you have to learn during this tour on your own. T be able to understand the beauty and history of Salem you need to come with an open mind and put yourself in the shoes of a person that lived in a period where science was non existent. Like I said, please come to this beautiful experience. Also, it doesn't hurt to ask if you want to see what the rooms look like. If they're vacant it's definitely worth it. Each room is filled with pieces of history.

If you would like to see a real ghost, go to The Daniels House Inn where you might get a glimpse of the proprietor or not. If you see him, he will be cranky and act like you broke into his home and have the audacity to ask for assistance. Breakfast? It's trick or treat! Hope you like an orange or a banana or a dirt bar. You like old school? Entering and exiting this place is not! Better write down your codes or you will get locked out! Parking is limited, depending on the room you get. It's like bobbing for apples here. Sadly, Salem itself is truly cursed by ignorant visitors who prefer commercialism over its history and cursed because there are living dead walking around the town homeless, and drug addicts. Customer service is lacking because the money is easy and that is why Daniels House thrives.

My husband, friends, and I were just in town for my birthday and it was the coldest day of the year! We booked the fireside tour and chat with Vijay for a cozy history evening lesson. It ended up being the most phenomenal part of our trip! Vijay is not only so knowledgable and well-versed in the topic, he's warm, friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate. He even brought theatrical moments and stories into it. We were riveted for the entire thing! The house itself is a true experience. We walked into the room and we were immediately transported to another world with all the authentic and original decor, the cozy fire and candle light, and the handmade teas. (That I wish I tried! Try the tea!) I sat in a chair that was constructed in England circa 1550, we were surrounded by old growth wood that has lasted for 4 centuries, we were truly immersed in what life was like for the first European settlers of Salem. It was a true viewpoint into the life, hardships, religious beliefs (yes, the trials are discussed!), all of it. I cannot recommend this enough! There are other amazing things that I don't want to disclose because I don't want to spoil any surprises from the tour. There were shocking moments! We all learned things! Thank you to Vijay and the Daniel's House for such a memorable time.

The historic property is interesting, but it is not comfortable. We were in a room on the 3rd floor (6 flights of narrow stairs) with a shared bathroom down the hall. The bed springs squeaked at every move so sleep was constantly interrupted. Breakfast is NOT provided as advertised, instead we were give a voucher to be used at a sandwich shop located downtown - and no address was listed on the voucher. We never saw the proprietor who is more interested in selling tours of the house than providing hospitality. The website describing the property is very misleading and when you arrive, you have to fend for yourself. The worst excuse for a Bed and Breakfast I have ever experienced!

We stayed here for a week this summer and had an amazing experience. Yes the place is haunted. I had several experiences. Vijay the tour guide is amazing and knows so much about the history he made our experience so worth it!

My husband and I stayed here for a few days for my birthday, and we had a such a good time. The Daniels House was beautiful and so historic. It's like two blocks from the water and the House of Seven Gables; a few more blocks to the Witch Museum and everything else. We stayed in the Great Room, and it was amazing. There's a fireplace in the bathroom! I don't think it works, but it's still awesome. We also did the house tour, which turned out to be one of my favorite tours for the whole trip. Vijay was our guide (and also our point if contact during our stay), and he was super nice and informative. The house has a rich history, and you can tell that Vijay is really excited to share it. The tour is just the downstairs area, but it was so fascinating that it was totally worth it. When we stayed, they were still giving vouchers to Red's Sandwich Shop, which turned out to be perfect for us. We ate breakfast there most of the trip. I'm a vegetarian, and my husband can't have any dairy, and Red's had something for each of us. I'd recommend everything about the Daniels House, and we'd definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at the Daniel's House! We stayed for one night on our way to Maine. The Daniels House is in walking distance to shops, tours & restaurants in Salem. We especially enjoyed our time talking about the home's history with Patrick over coffee & breakfast. Patrick & Adele restored this home with love and attention to detail. It is rich in history & stories. This was a great stay in a wonderful community & I hope to return.

My stay at the Daniels house was such an amazing experience! The house is so beautiful! I stayed in the Great Room and it was so comfortable. I absolutely loved my stay there and can't wait to go back.

Really neat piece of history, lots of original items and lots of good information about how people would have lived in the late 1600's we didn't stay at the house, just got the tour, but will be booking for later.

Updating my review to note how much more AMAZING this place is in the care of new owners! They truly know and realize they have a treasure on their hands, and they are diamonds in the rough themselves. It is not common to find innkeepers and historians with such passion and dedication to a place, and it's quite evident with any stay at the Daniels House. There is no other place like it in Salem - not just at Halloween, but year-round. Not only is the Daniels House one of the VERY few remaining structures dating back to even before the Salem Witch Trials (the oldest part of the house dates back to 1667), it is the oldest B&B in the city (and absolutely one of the oldest in America). It's like you are literally staying in a cozy, beautiful museum and whisked right back in time with the scents of old wood and a crackling fireplace, wooden floors, beautiful claw-foot tubs, pristine antique rugs, windowpanes that look out onto a view that could very well still be from centuries ago, winding staircases, and so much more. The Great Room in particular is one-of-a-kind and has hosted many a celebrity and interesting figure, and is also one of the oldest rooms in the house. I am hoping to stay in the Marion Room next! Patrick and his family and Vijay are incredibly nice, down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and friendly. They found out it was my birthday and left a last-minute personal touch in my room, which was wholeheartedly appreciated. If you have the opportunity to even just take a house tour here with Vijay, it's a must. They offer them year-round and he is whip-smart and fantastic with guests. I did the candlelight Christmas event while I was staying here, and it exceeded my expectations. The house is amazing all by itself all year round, but especially beautiful during the holidays. It was a real treat and I'm excited to see what else they offer in the coming year. Also to note - the team here is very COVID-conscious and extremely detailed and helpful with the check-in process, which can be as hands-off as you need. They have REALLY good mini-muffins and coffee downstairs for a morning snack, and are currently offering vouchers at Red's Sandwich Shop due to COVID (Red's is the best breakfast in town and is not just sandwiches - their breakfasts will fill you up all day and so worth it). One of the most unique experiences you can ever have, and an absolute must if you want to experience the magic of Salem.

I LOVED this bed & breakfast. The owner was kind and his house historian Vijay was truly a special treat! The history of this home is fantastical. Words do not describe how cool this place is. It's imperative to take the historical tour. Book it. You won't regret it! The Daniel's House is truly a one-of-a-kind living museum.

(This review is for the 45 minute tour they do in the house, not for an overnight stay) Had the pleasure of doing the tour of the Daniels House. Even though the tour is only of two rooms in the house, the tour guide, Vijay, has so much knowledge and passion about the house and the town of Salem that it is a very memorable tour, and time passes very quickly. Tour groups are limited to only eight people (possibly because of COVID?), but this is a great size for the rooms and the tour. Vijay gives you a ton of background and information about the town, architecture, historical context, and etc. I learned so much in just 45 minutes! I did a lot in Salem during my day trip, but this was definitely the highlight of my entire experience. There's a lot more to Salem than the witch trials and Halloween, and the Daniels House tour informs you of all of that. I would even redo the tour, maybe one of the other options they have, because the experience was so enjoyable. Highly recommend, especially if you're interested in well-built, old buildings and the history around them.

Wonderful experience staying here. Patrick, the co-owner was friendly and accommodating during our stay and even went out of their way to recognize one of our birthdays during our stay. The house itself is an amazing restoration, with all of the meticulous work done by Patrick himself and he has done an outstanding job. The rooms were well appointed, clean, and very much in the period of the home's time. We were there during the pandemic and some of the options were not available, but Patrick made sure to set up breakfast for his guests at nearby Red's Sandwich shop as well as give us a private personal tour of the closed historical dining room and original kitchen. Patrick was also very knowledgeable on the history of the home and the many iterations it went through in it's 450 year history. If you are looking for a genuine, authentic unpretentious experience in one of the oldest B&B's in the US then I strongly recommend choosing The Daniels House. We have nothing but great things to say about Patrick and Adele and their amazing establishment.

I stayed here with my parents, it was so cool! The person who owns the place is very kind and wears a face mask for COVID. We stayed in The east India room and it was absolutely beautiful. The antiques inside are very cool, and the beds are super comfy. We were also given sort of pass things to go to breakfast, and it was very good. The breakfast hall at the inn is temporarily closed, but it looks like you stepped back 300 years. The rooms are pretty big so you can explore a lot. I would love to stay again someday.

We had a perfect stay at the Daniels B&B; The room was very spacious, clean and even way more beautiful than shown on the pictures! Vijay was a great host and gave us a house tour as well as background story of the building and recommendations what is worth a visit in Salem. Staying in such a remarkable historic building is already a great experience itself! They were very careful with COVID 19 regulations and you have the option for a contactless check in and check out. I strongly recommend to support this small business and will stay there again next time we visit the town!

My wife and I took the tour this afternoon led by Vijay. It was a fabulous experience. Vijay is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We learned so much about life in Salem in the 1600s and 1700s. I highly recommend this tour

When in Salem don't waste your time staying at a fancy hotel, get the full experience by staying here! not only is the house historic and charming, but Patrick the owner was inviting and easy to contact. The room was perfect, clean, bed was cozy sheets were great! We had to share the bathroom with other residents but it wasn't that big of an inconvenience.Due to covid restrictions the house did not provide a continental breakfast, but gave us breakfast vouchers for a wonderful restaurant in town! We were in walking distance to everything! We can't wait to stay here again!!

If you ever come to Salem, stay in the Daniels House B & B and consider yourself fortunate to have stumbled upon a beautiful secret. Built in 1667, it is the oldest Bed & Breakfast in America, and the new owners have restored her strength and beauty and charming, practical simplicity. So much care has gone into restoring not just the house's integrity, but also her warmth and energy. The beds are cloud-like, the rooms have everything you could need, the breakfasts are filling and delicious, and the family who runs this establishment are gracious, accommodating, and rightfully proud of the treasure they oversee; they're total pros at making their guests feel at home and welcome. In addition to their knowledge of the house and its past and artifacts, Patrick & Adele are troves of information about where to sightsee, where to eat, and where to shop...and they weren't wrong about any of it. My daughter and I stayed here for 4 days and nights as the COVID-19 panic began. Massachusetts declared its state of emergency then, and we were beginning to hear of cases all around the US, and in our home state of Virginia. Even still, we were in no hurry to leave. On the contrary, if it weren't for pets back home, we would have asked to extend our stay and wait out the worst there in absolute peace. Before this family recently took ownership of this treasure, the B&B often received less-than-stellar reviews; really, ignore those and know that Daniels House is now a different animal. It is not trying to be a modern hotel with floors that don't creak, bland wall art with no soul, and a stay that leaves you feeling like yet another anonymous traveler with a wallet. Instead, Daniels House means to be -- and is -- an enchanting trip back in time to a warm, clean place, unplugged from the screaming world, where every corner feels loved, the proprietors know your name, and good manners still matter. You won't regret staying here.

Gorgeous and historic building. This is the safest place in my mind for a stop due to their incredible safety precautions around Covid. The room was comfortable and well appointed. It's a historic building so expect small passages and low ceilings but a great place to rest. The breakfast vouchers for Reds Sandwich shop were awesome as it is one of the best breakfasts we've had in some time. This is worth a stop.

This bnb is pretty, in a quiet neighborhood. And it would have worked just for one or two nights. The shared bathroom and lackluster breakfast was the most disappointing. The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable but I heard most since creaky floors and I'm sure everyone heard me since my bed was noisy as well.

If you are looking for a place to stay other than a regular hotel and want to experience and feel like you are living in the past colonial days this is your spot. We stayed for 2 nights in the great room. The room was clean and soothing. The king size bed was amazing and so comfortable it just hugs you like a pillow. There was coffee and muffins downstairs in the dinning area in the mornings, we also received vouchers to Red's. The home is located extremely close to all historical areas in Salem. Easy walking distance to all. I loved the area - streets and homes. Wonderful experience. I hope to book again in the future. Shout out to Vijay, he was very sweet with welcoming us on our arrival day and showing us the common areas we had access to. Thank you.

The house tour was spectacular!!! Could not believe how old and original the structure and elements were. VJ was so knowledgeable and entertaining. Wish we could of spent 3 more hours picking his brain! Highly recommend this tour if you are interested in Salem history!

I've been terribly remiss in writing about this amazing old home. It's been nearly a year since I visited, but I'd jump at the opportunity to go back. Warning: This is not the place for you if you a) find creepy old houses, well, creepy and b) can't do without modern amenities. Normally I fall into the latter category, but I also love creepiness, and that aspect won me over. Mind you, I'm not into rundown old rack-shacks; this home has real charm and is well-maintained. It's like stepping into history. Built in the 17th century, it's three stories high and has nice, roomy guest bedrooms. There's a lot of cool historical facts that our colorful hostess, Kay, pointed out. One of its most notable features, the humongous fireplaces that were taller than me, made me feel like I was on the set of The Crucible. We got the largest bedroom, the green room. It was decorated as it would have been 300 years ago with cool/creepy little touches everywhere--like the portraits of men and women whose stern stares seemed to follow us around the room...and the eerie baby's cradle in the extremely large, attached bathroom. I was expecting it to start rocking by itself...but, again, this all added to the fun. It was like Halloween in April. Kay is a tad on the elderly side and all the way on the deaf side...but she's a dear lady and so sweet. She helpfully gave us a sightseeing map and even told me where I could find some antique shops (we talked enough for her to find out about my antique addiction, but she wasn't the overbearing type that traps you into long conversations either). It was a little disconcerting to find out that we were the only ones staying there that night--and that her only hired help was indefinitely in the hospital--but, we were gone most of the day and had a great time sightseeing around the very interesting town of Salem. We returned late that night, and the house was so quiet that we felt compelled to tiptoe in. Even the stairs to our second-floor room were delightfully narrow and winding. We had a fireplace in our room, but we weren't sure whether we had permission to light it or not, so we didn't. We snooped around a little and found a bunch of cool little handwritten notes around the room from past guests. Several of them alluded to a "mystery guest" that would come visit us in the middle of the night. That definitely piqued our interest! We wondered if there was a ghost legend. Some time later that night, my husband opened the door to go outside and smoke...and the mystery guest/ghost cat ran in and hopped right up on the bed with me! Okay, it wasn't a ghost, but a real-live black cat. It kicked back a while with me and then left when my husband came back. That made for a cute memory. I kind of feel like this place really deserves 5 stars, but I'm giving it 4 only because the "breakfast" part of "bed and breakfast" was lacking. We made it downstairs the next morning only to be presented with the driest muffins I've ever tasted. You could literally hammer a nail into the wall with these muffins. I wondered if they'd been sitting out for a week. In addition, we were served sour orange juice (the frozen variety, I'd guess). We picked at the muffins and then went down the street for a real breakfast. Only other (minor) complaints: She only takes cash or checks (no credit cards) and our bathroom towels smelled musty, not freshly-washed. However, on balance, I highly recommend this place for the unparalleled experience and for the pleasure of meeting this dear, dear lady, Kay. She'll even give you a little tour of the amazing house...well worth the visit! I'd definitely go back.

So this is the coolest house ever....I stayed here for a night along with my sister while we were road trippin' and it was incredible. The house was built in 1667 and it's full of antiques and relics of the past. It was like sleeping in a museum and who hasn't wanted to do that?! Creepy old paintings everywhere, giant fireplaces you could roast a cow in, little surprises in every nook. So full of character and charm that you just never see anymore. There's something neat and unexpected everywhere you look. It's definitely a bit creepy at night though so if you're into that kind of thing, this place is for you! I slept like a baby in my antique bed with my cozy quilts but my sister had a rougher night. She's convinced the place is haunted and even woke me up to let me know, in her own words, "Wake up, we need to leave, this place is haunted! My cup of water spilled on its own and the painting is crooked!" I had a good laugh at her expense, she was not amused. The owner was great and full of funny stories, the breakfast was great and the fire was roaring. Sabrina the cat was friendly and adorable and a little bit hyper. I felt right at home. P.S. There might be a ghost cat roaming the halls.

The Daniels House is the perfect place to stay in Salem. The home is charming, clean, and comfortable, and Patrick is a kind and welcoming host. It's clear that great care went into restoring the home while maintaining its history and character. We stayed in The Great Room, which was spacious and cozy, with a large, private bath. The home is also situated a block from both the harbor and downtown, so it is perfect for walkers. Thank you, Patrick, for a great first stay in Salem!

I can't wait to go back! This house and it's owners are amazing! If you're a fan of history, this is the place to stay in Salem. The original kitchen hasn't been remodeled and has carvings in the woodwork from the famous Salem Witch Trials. The house has obviously been updated but only to a certain point to maintain its historical integrity. I stayed in the East India room on the third floor. The beds were very comfortable and the shared bathroom was spacious and well stocked. The hosts and new owners of the house thought of everything from lots of plugs in the rooms and bathroom to a tea kettle, drinks and snacks in the dining room. They made me a hot delicious (gluten free) breakfast every morning while I sat next to a crackling fire and were welcoming to friends that came to visit me during my stay. This was such an amazing experience and I'm so glad I decided to stay here.

This was mine and my husband's first visit to Salem and we were not sure where to stay. Im sooo glad we chose The Daniels House Bed and Breakfast. We were blown away at how beautiful this place is! It was Valentine's weekend and when we arrived we found flowers and chocolates in our room. Every room is so beautifully decorated with beautiful antique/victorian furniture. The location is great because its within walking distance restaurants and historical points of interest. Patrick and his lovely wife made us feel so welcome and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be returning

I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, and having a historic house in Salem seemed perfect. This house was amazing and was so beautiful. We stayed in the Marion room which was perfectly sized, even spacious for a 1667 house! The common areas were closed off due to covid of course, but the part of the house we could be in had enough charm to make it worth it! Everything we wanted to see was in a maximum 10 minute walking distance. It is right down the street from the House of Seven gables. Even though with covid we could not enjoy the breakfast part, Patrick gave us vouchers to a near by history sandwich shop which was great. The food there was very good, they had a variety of selections for breakfast and the portions were huge. Nothing disappointed us and the house had great updated amenities to make anyone comfortable. Would recommend staying here and would stay here in the future!

First of all, you have to understand the house is a historical legend. It's actually OLDER than the House of the Seven Gables around the corner, which is a place where they won't even let you touch the walls because it's so old. But here, you can sleep and hang out and do whatever. This place is AMAZING. So it was built in 1667, by Stephen Daniels. As Robin will tell you, he wasn't part of the witch trials, which is pretty cool. Robin and Kay are great hostesses, and breakfast was always a treat. We actually chose to stay an extra day because we were having such a good time. For such an old place, we certainly felt right at home! To describe the house is quite difficult, because there is really a sense of awe when you enter and realize that not only are you in this space, but get to sleep here and feel at home. Kay has filled the house with stunning antiques over the years, and we enjoyed making stories about the different paintings in the different rooms. My partner and I stayed in the main room, where we really had half the house on the second floor. We had a back room with a full bed and sitting area as well, which we made use of by playing chess with Kay's antique chess board. I've stayed in some fancy hotels before, but I've really never had this much space. It was beyond luxurious and exciting. Also all the rooms were air conditioned and the bathrooms were totally modern and lovely. So while we got to stay in a colonial mansion, it certainly never felt like colonial times! Kay and Robin were lovely, and everyone who we met at breakfast and out in the town were just wonderful. Also, the place is pet friendly, so we got to meet an adorable dog and guinea pig during our extended stay. I came to Salem for my birthday, and I wanted to find a place with history. And we certainly got it, plus more! We can't wait to go back!

Pretty sure this is the oldest house I've ever stayed in. The oldness was one of the main reasons we picked it. We read about it in a Lonely Planet book and made a reservation. Our hostess was super nice and funny. I tried really hard to convince myself that it wasn't haunted. I hardly slept, just waiting to hear creepy noises. All I heard was the cat.

Just got back from The Daniel's House in Salem, MA. My absolute favorite house on the planet and now it's all renovated and under new ownership. I thought this B&B from the 1600's was wonderful before the renovation, but now it's been moved up to a whole other level. I love the new decor as it's in keeping with the historic element to the house. This place is immaculate and beautiful. The new owner Patrick was attentive to our every needs. The breakfasts were delicious and we gobbled up every bit. We can't wait to go back!

So I found this guest house on rainy night to stay in ! Was welcomed nicely with some great drink !! Cozy and beautiful bedrooms ! Some different experience in Salem !

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a weekend on a trip to Salem and it was one of the most fantastic experiences we have ever had. If you love old houses and have ever dreamed of staying in one, this is the best place you can find. I can't say enough good things about Patrick and Adele, the current owners, either. What an amazing experience this was! We will be returing for sure!

We had a fantastic time. Dog friendly- fantastic muffins for the continental breakfast. Our family -(man, woman and 2 dogs) enjoyed the beauty and charm of this wonderful place. Great location- great of a family- we had 1/4 of the house- 1 bedrooms and 3 bed with a bath. Sad we did not have friends with us of the visit.

Stayed here recently and 20 years ago. Like living in the House of Seven Gables. Not too many chances to stay in a 17th century home in the US.

Stayed here 10/23-24 09. Nice house(300 years old) and the owners were friendly. If your looking for modern amenities this is not the place. Small cable TV and private bath in room. Beautiful woodwork and furnishings. Cozy N.E. feel. Walking distance to all of Salem's attractions. I Shall Return.

This house is sincerely inspirational. Built in the seventeenth century, and decorated with a menagerie of quaint antiques, it's imbued with a poignant aura. The history is palpable. Kay, the proprietor, is a magnificent story teller and most gracious host, showering us with tales of the characters that have past through, notably Arthur Miller, over freshly baked muffins and delicious coffee. If you come to Salem, there simply is no substitute...

I was really excited about the possibility of staying here in October because it has such great reviews, however trying to book a reservation was a complete nightmare. I called on Sunday to get information and the owner was very nice and helpful, telling me it would be $180 a night, which seemed great. I let her know I would probably be booking it but just wanted to check a couple things and would call back. I called back later that same day several times but no one answered. When I tried the next day the same woman told me they were suddenly not taking reservations for October yet. I reminded her that we spoke on Sunday about it and she was willing then to book it. She then remembered speaking to me but then got weird again about booking it, but said she would. When I confirmed the $180 price however, she said it had changed to $400 a night. I said I would have to think about that and she ended with "you do that" and hung up. I was nothing but pleasant to her and was really looking forward to staying there, but will definitely be booking somewhere else.

At first I was nervous about staying here, I was afraid the house was going to feel claustrophobic and dark. I was pleasantly surprised with how much larger the rooms actually felt, and the amount of sunlight that came in. My parents, boyfriend, and myself all shared the rose room. I was a little nervous about all having to share the one bathroom that came with those rooms, and offered to buy the additional room across the stairs that came with another bathroom. My parents talked me out of it and didn't want me to spend the extra cash, but when we came back from dinner the Inn keeper, Robin, left a note on our nightstand saying we were welcome to use the 2nd bathroom. Robin did a great job with welcoming us and giving us great suggestions of where to go. The linens were very clean and very comfortable. She also makes delicious muffins, my boyfriend actually ate 3 because they were so good. Highly reccmond staying here. If you do, check the drawers in your room, there are tons and tons of little notes hidden everywhere.
