"Set just over the border in Pennsylvania near the Delaware River and the town of Narrowsburg, this 27-room restoration of a 1960s building from a respected boutique-hotel group channels midcentury modern design and family-friendly layouts (including connecting bunk beds). The grounds offer hammock groves, lawn games, firepits and a private trail system. Interior highlights include a custom-built bar, a freestanding Malm fireplace and a grab-and-go dining program featuring bottled and canned cocktails, tinned fish selections (yellowfin ventresca, sardinillas, boquerones), charcuterie and cheese plates, and specialty snacks like Van Smokey beef jerky." - Devorah Lev-Tov

The Darby is a remarkable story of a comeback and is a lovely getaway that we hope to return to for years to come. The hotel has under 40 rooms I believe, creating a real community atmosphere. It felt like old school catskills. Guests are encouraged to hang out in the common spaces, and I had many pleasant conversations with folks around the bonfire and in the bar on site, Delphine - a callback to the property's original proprietress. The rooms have been thoughtfully appointed and the beds and linens are very comfortable. This would be a perfect place to host a retreat - it's got plenty of common spaces, 15 acres of walking trails, is a 2 minute walk into narrowsburg, and it does have a full professional kitchen which may bode well for a future dining option. The real highlight of this place though, is the manager Leóne, an absolutely lovely person who also has a plant store in town. Leóne's warmth, kindness, and attentiveness to the guests and the vibe are unsurpassed. If you're lucky you may get to meet his giant doodle named Seamus, who is as sweet as he is large. This hotel is dog friendly, by the by, and families are welcome. That being said, I will note that the walls are very thin, and sound transfers. I solved this for myself with ear plugs and white noise from my phone. Guests were well behaved though, and nobody was noisy late at night. The place really does have the atmosphere of a fun boarding house, with people greeting each other in the hallways and striking up conversations in the common spaces. This once-derelict building has been lovingly restored into a place that encourages people to come upstate to get away, slow down, and reconnect. I was delighted to find there were no TVs in the rooms, both because it encourages leaving your room and because of the sound transference. This place is continually changing and upgrading, I can't wait to see what they've done when we come back - which we will be as soon as possible. Many thanks to the Darby for being an excellent landing pad for our annual anniversary weekend.

We booked The Darby for our wedding weekend and were able to have our whole group stay with us - it was a the perfect experience! To start, the hotel is so thoughtfully decorated with quality furniture, bedding, and toiletries. We were incredibly comfortable throughout the weekend and loved the entire aesthetic. We had no issues with cleanliness, the common spaces and our room were incredibly clean. The outdoor space was great, there’s a front patio where we had coffee and a large back yard area where we all hung out by the fire pit. It was perfect for a group. The manager Leon was an amazing host and Dennis killed it as bartender with such a large group. Also was super easy to walk into town and to the river. A great central location. We plan on staying again when we are in the area! Our guests all echoed these same sentiments. Thank you to The Darby crew!!

I really wanted to give The Darby a great review since I was there two years ago with a previous owner and was disappointed . It looked like the addition of a bar ( not always open), a pool (installed but awaiting inspections I believe), and a few new touches might be promising. Sadly, I was mistaken. While the location is terrific and I take no issue with the minimalist design or limited amenities, I do expect to have what is promised and a secure stay. Coffee in the morning. Well 2 out of 3! Not good enough. No one at the front desk most days. Note and key left for you, find your way around, no suggestions for sights, meals or in other words, no welcome. Very cold feeling. The last night we were the only guests in the hotel and we found the main door unlocked in the morning. It’s clean, comfortable and when Leon is there, friendly. There is no place else in the area to stay and so no reason to try harder perhaps. It could be a gem but unfortunately is just mediocre.

Google
Really disappointing. Priced as a nice hotel but more of a hostel. Rooms have no separation from the bar. People were running through the halls screaming at midnight with no staff onsite. Reached out after our stay but no response.

The Darby was an amazing experience with little touches of extraordinary charm around every corner. There was the initial check in, for my partner and I it was after midnight, when we spotted 6 Deer 🦌 just roaming around The Darby property. The room was a bit small for a standard king, however the bed and comforter was so comfortable. The cleanliness was remarkable and the towels weren't the scratchy kind. No microwave, no TV, but a little cute retro refrigerator and a pair of binoculars. The service was minimal by design, checking in and out online or via text was seamless, allowing us to focus on relaxation. Don't miss out on the bar for excellent drinks, or try a game of pool in the lounge. There are also many board games to choose from. I could go on and on about the friendliness of the staff and owner and the slim Jim eating dog, but whatever you do don't feed the dog a slim Jim.

If I could rate this place below zero stars, I would. This so-called "boutique hotel" is a disgrace — a health hazard masquerading as hospitality. A friend and I booked two rooms for the July 4th weekend, expecting at a well-appointed hotel, given the website and Instagram. What we got instead was a revolting, neglected motel that should honestly be shut down by the health department. Let’s break it down: First impressions? Vile. When we arrived around 4 PM, the parking lot looked like a landfill. Trash was scattered everywhere, clearly torn out of the dumpster by animals — and no one had even attempted to clean it up. This wasn’t just unpleasant; it was filthy. Not what you expect when you're paying to stay somewhere, even at $20 a night. Frankly, I’ve seen cleaner gas station rest stops. Security? Nonexistent. The front desk was completely unmanned until 9:30 the next morning. Our room keys were just left out in the open, with our names on them. Anyone walking in could have grabbed them. Zero regard for guest privacy or safety — a complete breach of even the most basic standards. The rooms? Disgusting. Mold was growing in the kitchen. The walls were stained with who-knows-what, the bathroom floor was coated in someone else’s hair, and the lighting was broken. Every inch of the place reeked of negligence. How this place is even operating is beyond me. Between the mold and the filth, it’s hard to believe this hotel hasn’t been cited for health violations. False advertising. No breakfast. No coffee. No tea. Nothing but lies and grime. Customer service? A joke. We had a family emergency and had to leave early. I called to explain the situation and was met with total indifference. No refund. No understanding. Just apathy. Follow-up? Nonexistent. I emailed after our stay to share how awful the experience was. No reply. No acknowledgment. Silence — which tells you everything you need to know about how this business is run. Bottom line: this is not a hotel — it’s a neglected, unsafe, unsanitary mess with no staff, no service, and no standards. Avoid it at all costs.

I love supporting small businesses so I took a chance at this property knowing my experience may not be the best based on some minimal bad reviews. It served its purpose for a last minute, 4th weekend getaway but probably won’t be coming back. It’s suitable for some I’m sure, especially those passing through for a night but it’s unfortunately not worth it for me and my bf. The walls are thin. We knew so before coming but oh man the walls are really thin. Anytime anyone came in or out of their rooms, I felt like they were breaking into our’s. You hear people’s conversations in their rooms, down the halls. I honestly didn’t mind it as this property is a work in progress but with zero staff onsite, there is nothing you can do about guests blatantly being loud playing music in the middle of the night. And yes, many mentioned a friendly staff and host… I saw one housekeeping staff during my entire stay. Then someone at the front desk morning of check out. There is little to no staff presence onsite which is a bit weird considering they have over 20 something rooms. When I asked about it, he said even the bartender? Not the response I was hoping for. Then I asked what the check out instructions were, the man at the front desk said 10AM without answering my question. My reservation upon booking said 12PM check out, the night before airbnb check out says 11AM. I said I’m not checking out at 10AM and they need to figure it out as now this is going against my booking. Nothing is really consistent about this and my experience with staff is not professional or respectful to their guests. I also started my first night with cobwebs right above my head/bed where their ceiling is painted dark blue. Cute decor but should keep up with cobwebs at least right above peoples sleeping areas especially when your walls are painted nice and dark for you to see them so clearly.

The Darby is everything we could have wanted in a hotel. It is the perfect blend of stylish mid-century design and top-notch comfort. From the moment we stepped into the hotel, we were transported by its chic vintage decor — think velvet jewel tones, vintage lighting fixtures, and sleek lines that all come together beautifully. From the lobby and the gorgeous common spaces to the individual rooms, every area is thoughtfully designed with guest comfort in mind -- and our bed was a dream! What truly made my stay exceptional, however, was the attentive staff. They were always available to offer local tips, ensure everything was running smoothly, and make sure we felt special. Their passion for the hotel and its guests was evident, and it made our stay all the more memorable. We can't wait to return and enjoy another stay at this delightful retreat!

Yelp
Lucky us. Most restaurants in the area start closing on Tuesday and Wednesday as the summer fades. But the bar and restaurant in the Darby hotel is open. It's all about craft cocktails and gastro pub fare. The menu is limited but it's all we needed. Great burgers and loaded fries. We found a new fav place.

Yelp
We stayed two nights at The Darby and will definitely be going back. Overall: This mid-century modern hotel is exceptionally decorated, comfortable, and the staff has incredible hospitality. It is a short five minute walk to Narrowsburg restaurants and shops. Rooms: The rooms are comfortable, great heating system, and wonderful shower and water pressure. Very comfortable beds and linens. The artwork in our room was great- plus there was a telescope in our room!! Lobby Experience: If I can give 10 stars, I would! The lobby staff is warm and inviting, helped us with our bags, offered coffee and danishes in the morning, pool table, intimate pockets to enjoy a game of chess while soaking up a beautifully decorated experience. Bar: Hands down best cocktails I've had and very reasonably priced. This is a true cocktail bar. Warm lighting, comfortable tables, artwork, plants, a fireplace, and great playlist. The menu has a great offering and the bar staff very attentive. This is a fantastic place to unwind by the fire and enjoy a carefully crafted cocktail. There were a few locals that were at the bar that were so friendly, giving us great town recommendations. 10/10 experience. Staff: The staff was exceptional, very genuine and authentic. The level of hospitality they offered was something I rarely come across while traveling. Had an incredible stay and will definitely be back.

Yelp
This is a quaint little nursing home turned hotel. However not worth the price when you can't sleep at night, the entire point of a hotel. I stayed for one night with my mother for her birthday, we went to a concert and got home around midnight, there was a raging party going on outside and also in the bar, which was right next to our room. Because of this there wasn't enough parking left for guests, and since this is a renovated nursing home, they clearly didn't install any upgraded sound proofing to allow guests to sleep in this event. The party in the bar went on till about 2pm (it is advertised as closing at 11pm), then we heard the clanging of dishes for a while after that. There was no manager or staff on site, I tried the text message only phone number but not no response that night or the following day. When we checked out I asked the very nice girl at reception to have the manager call me before charging my card. No one ever called me and I was charged immediately. It's a cute idea for a hotel but not functional and not run with guests in mind. It's also just not worth the price, sadly even if we could have slept.

Yelp
we've stayed at the Darby twice. it's a very cute little motel with a very appealing decor. There are plenty of communal areas to hang out in. Leon who works there is so friendly and helpful. Both times we stayed in a King Suite which was quite large for our family. Every thing was clean. We will be back!

Yelp
So this "hotel" is a no for me. It's an old nursing home that's been converted into a "hotel". Going in I knew there weren't any TV's in the room, no biggie, I can deal with that. They do include binoculars to play bird bingo if that's your thang. What I didn't know was that there's zero privacy in the rooms, you can hear everything and I mean everything, including someone coughing in the room across the hall. In our room, the shower was in the living space. If I'm laying on the bed and look to the right you see the shower curtain. It's separate from the actual bathroom. What I can say was the bed was super comfortable and thank god for that. There was a huge stain on the carpet in our room and the room smelled like feet. Our room was also very close to the common areas and if there's people hanging out there you can hear everything. We woke up on our second day to NO WATER. None, zilch, nada. We heard loud whishing and churning to where my husband ran in the bathroom thinking something was about to explode. So the entire hotel couldn't shower, use the toilet etc... The front desk employee which I've since found out is the GM and was super nice really did try his very best all weekend to give us a good experience but sadly this just wasn't my type of hotel and for what you pay you're not getting much.

Yelp
We've stayed at a bunch of the other Foster Supply properties and this one's consistent with what we've come to expect. Vintage vibe, a building with an interesting history (but not haunted...); a good arrangement of common areas, bar & fireplace and more (we had them to ourselves which was fine). We reserved one of the nice big upstairs rooms, with a super comfy bed, large bathroom with a great shower/bath. So glad there are no TVs. A good location for us as we hadn't been to Narrowsburg in about 10 years. The hotel's namesake manager was very helpful, personable and arranged for us to have a fire to come back to after the dinner reservation she made for us. Would come back anytime.

Yelp
I'd love to leave them a proper review, but from the onset, no one picks up the phone at the hotel. We've been trying since last Thursday. They have a 5-day (in advance) cancellation policy which is equal to 50% of the stay, and my job requires me to be on-call sometimes, so at $300/night for 4 nights, that's a risk--so I wanted to know if I could call to book 24 hours ahead of time, but alas, no one is on the other end to pick up the phone. Generally, I stay clear of pricey hotels that don't pick up the phone because if you need anything, you have no choice but to email.

Yelp
Expensive especially for what you get. Try the many lovely inexpensive airbnb's in the area

Yelp
This is a new hotel from the owners of the North Branch Inn, the Arnold House and the DeBruce. Built in the 60s, I'm guessing, and formerly a community home, the Darby still retains a bit of a musty air and isn't a beauty from the front. However, the rooms are comfy, colorful, and have nearly everything you need. The beds are great. There's a pool table, a fire pit with s'mores, and games and hiking trails. And the hotel is a one-minute drive from pretty little Narrowsburg, NY, with its hipster shops, gallery, and restaurants. Not to mention a five-minute drive from Two Queens, a fabulous coffee shop. Which is good because the hotel doesn't really do breakfast (just wrapped muffins and percolator coffee) and doesn't have a real bar (some wine and beer on request). Very nice staff, btw.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
We booked this place months in advance, and when arriving, were disappointed by the room situation. We did not realize that the standard room did not include a "full bathroom" meaning the showers are located outside of the bathroom and attached to the closet. For the price we were paying, we felt like this was unacceptable. After changing to a suite (which is what was advertised to us as the room we would be staying in) we were really happy with the hotel. It was very clean and the common areas were great. Lots of activities on site, comfortable beds, and good vibes. Phil working at the front desk was very helpful and a great asset to the hotel, however it seemed like there were not other staff present and at times it was hard to get assistance. Understaffed, but the staff we did encounter were very nice. Overall, because of the price for a room at this hotel that would have an acceptable bathroom situation, I am not sure I would stay here again and would rather spend my $250/night elsewhere to enjoy a shower in a bathroom.
