I can't get because they have terrible hours. Their posted hours are 11:30-2:30 only during the week. I take a sick day and walk over and it says they are closed. They are inside working, what I find out is a catering job, I ask about their odd hours and a man mumbled something about catering and being busy and they are closed. I leave and was called names through the door. I would tell you not to go but you can't so don't worry.

For 2015 I wanted to try new things, and this was my first of this year. I was not disappointed. The house chili was very delicious. The only reason why I gave them four stars was because I was never able to get a hold of them, I had to actually go to the location and take my chances.

Google
This place is a joke, I've been trying to buy catering for 2 years. # doesn't work employees don't know ANYTHING.

Jon G.

Yelp
The one other time I went here in the past I was able to order take out. I'm not sure if it's a recent change, but I went back a few months ago and was told they only cater now.

Twon M.

Yelp
This place is a shame, went there with a co-worker and they told us they don't serve the public they only do catering jobs. so anyone looking for some good chili I wouldn't recommend going here to get it cause you'll be disappointed.

I Am K.

Yelp
Fake business. They are literally NEVER open and have the blinds drawn shut and doors are always closed during posted business hours. Never found them open once.

Yelp
I stumbled across this place randomly and I guess I was lucky enough to catch them while they were open. I don't normally go out of my way for a bowl of chili, but I'm glad I tried it. It was probably the best tasting chili I've ever had and while I don't normally like cornbread, the cornbread bowl was tolerable and actually tasted really good. However, the chili in the breadbowl starts to settle after a while and everything becomes mushy and cold and inedible so we were kind of forced to eat it faster since it was so delicious. It's a little on the pricey side...I spent probably $10 ON CHILI but their portions are massive and it's more than enough for 2 people, so I guess it's acceptable. Downsides are there is limited seating with just two picnic tables on the side of the building. The "restaurant" or whatever you want to call it is on a weird intersection so parking can be challenging. 3 stars for the actual chili though.

Yelp
Reading their reviews, I was excited for this place, there were so many different chilis to try! And I work in the area and I can make it's odd hours! Winner! It was okay, they only had 2 types of chili. House and vegetarian. I was hoping their house chili would look like one of the pictures on yelp, with shredded beef...mmmmm but alas, it was just a ground beef chili =T Their chili is definitely a bean and veggie abundant chili, not the cooked down mush of others. Personally, I prefer this type of chili, I like to know that I'm eating a bean, bell pepper, onion, or meat. The cornbread bowl is definitely impressive and delicious =d My only gripe about this place was how overly sweet their chili was. There was a bit of heat but it was mostly sweet, and paired with the cornbread bowl, while delicious, did not make for a delicious combination because that just made my lunch overly sweet =T

Yelp
If you like homestyle chili you need to try this place! Had their grilled cheese sandwich yesterday and it was amazing!!! And FYI their hours are so limited because they mainly cater.

Carrie Nations T.

Yelp
This stuff is great! Would be 5 stars but chili has beans. Website says you can get it without. Beans in chili should be an OPTION! Once you put the beans in, it's hard to get them out, which is what we're trying to do in this pic.

Eddie S.

Yelp
Really Awesome Chili ! Hole in the wall ! Hours are limited but who cares, what matters is how yummy it is. I ordered the seasonal jambalaya and it was heavenly.

Oscar T.

Yelp
Hmmmm where to begin and where to end .. chili is such a political thing. Con carne only bean its as bad Republican vs Democrat. So I ventured here today cause I was sick of the restaurants on Brand and wanted something new and different. So I came here and was pleasantly surprised. It was good adequate chili. Nothing earth shattering or mind blowing but good and decent. The corn bread which works against this place and also the jalapeños are canned. You can provide fresh ones. The cheese and sour cream was sufficient amounts but am I willing to pay more the I already did? Answer is no. Overall good place and decent.

Amy C.

Yelp
The cornbread bowl chili is BANGIN'! They are only open when everyone is at work and can't get to Glendale to grab lunch, unless you work in Glendale. If you manage to be in the area during the off chance that they are open outside of posted hours, jump on it. I guarantee you'll agree with me that the food is off the chain. They're usually out catering events, which is why their hours of operation is so random.

Brett J.

Yelp
THIS IS NOT A RESTAURANT. This is a catering kitchen with a cash register, and most days no one is working the cash register. When I walked in, the guy behind the counter startled and said, "let me call my boss on his cell." After the disappointment of last time, I called ahead and was told "today we're open until 2pm." I arrived and the sign was flipped to closed by 1:30. (Their posted hours are 11-3:30) Bear that in mind and you won't be disappointed. Kinda. They've got chili and veggie chili. The chili is great (3.8 stars?) with beans in a lovely stewed meat base, and larger chunks of beef. They're known for their corn bread bowl - which they didn't have on that day. They had corn bread muffins, but no butter or honey. The chili came with a single packet of tabasco sauce, which you probably want.

Rex C.

Yelp
I must say this place has it right. Thick meaty flavorful with a perfect deep corn bread bowl. Added cheese, sour cream and jalapeños. The reviews for the actual food is spot on. Friendly with quick service. The corn bread bowl and chilli were reasonably priced $8. If you choose not to call ahead, I don't think I would just stop by. Saying that I would nor review a closed door establishment. To those who miss out cause closed door, try again. This place is a must have and my new lunch favorite.

Chris W.

Yelp
If you can catch them while they are open, you won't be disappointed. The menu consists of two-three items depending on the day you go. The meaty chili or veggie chili. I chose the meat chili. It was full of flavor extremely chunky. The portion of cheese was generous, but not too much. I also added sour cream, which again was the perfect amount. The chili is served with three delicious corn bread muffins. Be prepared to take your order to-go unless you plan on grabbing a seat at the picnic tables outside. If you're a fan of rich, and hearty chili, this is a must visit. It you're a fan of hot sauce, I would add some heat.

Rod D.

Yelp
Chili is my favorite cold rainy day food -and- the chili here definitely hit the stop. The ingredients are all bursting with flavor - everything really jumps out, which is very hard to do with chili sends flavor naturally tend to blend. The cornbread bowl is rather large -- this makes a single order enough for 2 meals, but there's probably not enough chili for two. So next time, I think I'll try one of the other options. Oh I went for the house chili, since I'm a Ron Swanson kinda guy! I really hope that they expand into a bigger place with a larger menu and consistent hours...Because the challenge of catching them open, could easily drag them down 2-3 stars, but I'll digging the chili too much, 5 stars. Also, there's pics here showing indoor seating. I think that's gone...

Rachel A.

Yelp
I've been looking for good chili for awhile and now I can rest easy knowing I've got a local spot. I tried three varieties on my first visit today: the house chili, the vegetarian chili, and the chicken chili. The house chili was definitely my favorite. It was well spiced, had lots of yummy vegetables, and the beef was pulled, which gave it a nice texture. It was on the thicker side but did had a little soupiness to it. The chicken chili was MUCH thicker and though tasty, I would have preferred it a little more soupy. The vegetarian chili was just OK to me, could use a little more spice. I also ordered the triple decker grilled cheese, which for it's simplicity, was well cooked and delicious. And did I mention the corn bread? Lord have mercy. Just take it away from me before I finish the bag. They're moist little muffin style cornbreads, salty and sweet on the inside, with a delicate crispy crust on the top. They are insane. The service here was quick, friendly, and prompt. They even held the door open for me as I exited with arms full of food. I'll be back soon.

Yelp
I've recently discovered this little hide away, down the street from where I reside. Prior to coming here, it's been years since I had chili and I refuse to eat canned and restaurant chili. I figure I'll give them a shot. Let me tell you, this chili is as good as it gets! The chili is freshly made, along with fresh vegetables and homemade corn bread. I must warn you, their hours are limited and closed on weekends. CHILI SO GOOD, MAKE YOU WANNA SLAP YOUR MOMMA!

Mark W.

Yelp
If you want chili you should go here. We had the vegetarian and the house chili and they were both very good. The only local chili I can remember liking better was the Trails Cafe vegetarian chili with walnuts in it, but they don't make that anymore anyways. Oh and the hours are so limited. Unless you are in the area at lunch time Monday-Friday, you can forget ever trying it.

Herb A.

Yelp
I've had the food here twice and there isn't going to be a third time. First time was earlier this year and I got food poisoning, was throwing up for two days straight. I figured it might've been something else that made me sick. So tried again couple weeks ago and found not one but two hairs in the chili. These guys run a nasty spot. Lucky for them they do catering. I doubt they would stay in business long with anyone visiting the restaurant. Next to a rundown laundry mat, usually with the doors closed and blinds down. Not coming back.

Yelp
This chili parlor is a small hole-in-the-wall place we visit for lunch sometimes. Their chili is really, really yummy...and the best part is that it comes with little cornbread mini muffins on the side. Downsides: - very little seating area; the only seating area is two large picnic tables outside - a bit on the pricey side - anything you want on top of your chili is extra, i.e. cheese, onions, etc...so you can easily spend over $10 Overall though, I like this no-frills place for a quick and delicious bite to eat

Yelp
The David Brothers Chili Parlor are only open for a brief period of time during lunch on weekdays, and if you manage to make that window, you won't be disappointed. They've got House Chili, Bowl of Red, Chicken and White Bean, and Veggie Chili, with your choice of Cornbread Bowl, Tostada Bowl, Cornbread Muffins, or Tortilla Chips. They've also got some other items, like burritos made with the same ingredients that go into their chili, as well as a grilled cheese sandwich and double stack cheese quesadilla. To get the classic experience, I would recommend getting the House Chili in a Cornbread Bowl and throw in a couple of toppings for only 25 cents each: cheese, sour cream, jalapeno, or diced onions. The chili they serve is a unique hearty style that is sure to satisfy, in fact, a few days later you may find yourself craving a trip back. If you're aiming to try the whole menu, or just need a second option, I would recommend trying the Chicken and White Bean chili next. Besides the food, the David brothers themselves are incredibly nice guys that provide incredible service. I can only really fault this place for being open for such a short period of time. It makes it hard to come here after work, or with friends on weekends.

Sarah D.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to chili today.... I wish I could have actually eaten it. Online they clearly say they are open from 11 to 3. Just to make sure, I called the number and it says the same thing about their hours. It is right at lunch time 12:45 pm on a Thursday so I drive all the way out to go have some chili. I get there and the door is open so I walk in and the man inside says that they aren't open. When I mentioned that they should change the info online and their phone he just said he was sorry and they were closed. Really wanted to support this business. It's a shame.

Manuel R.

Yelp
If i could give a minus 5 i would. I have tried to come at least 4 times. Always for lunch and during the week but this place is always closed, it is extremely annoying when a business doesn't respect their own business hours. People have to drive and that means we waste our time when this place is supposed to be open but it's close... Respect your business hours, have respect and courtesy for your clients, the same you get when we pay the check.

Emily A.

Yelp
You have no idea how many times I've driven down here only to be met with a locked door. NOT cool. Either update your hours or write "only open when we feel like it".

Scott L.

Yelp
I stopped by David Brothers last week for a bowl of the house chili and found it to be excellent: well seasoned, peppery, lean, and served in a delicious cornbread bowl. It's a tiny spot, with two picnic tables outside. I will be back to try the beanless "bowl of red", chicken and vegetarian options as well. In addition to chili, they also had grilled cheese, quesadillas, and a few nacho/burrito type specials on the menu.

Linda S.

Yelp
Chili was ok, price too high. The only place to sit is on the street. Wouldn't you rather spend your hard-earned money in a real restaurant?

R L.

Yelp
House chili is pretty good, the tri-tip steak in the chili was grounded which was a little disappointing. It's neither too spicy or too sweet just kind of in the middle. If you get it with corn bread then it can be too sweet for some. Portions are big, I could only eat half. Does not make good leftovers, it's pretty bad the next day. Threw it out. Service was great.

Jo J.

Yelp
I bet this chili is really good. I just won't have a chance to try it. This place isn't open at all on Saturday or Sunday and despite them having a front page article in the Glendale Sunday paper, it sounds like even those 4 hours a day on the weekdays that they're open are too much for them to handle. Not going to risk driving out of my way for this. It's The Hat for me.

Kaesi F.

Yelp
The house chili in corn bread bowl was so amazingly good! I like how you can add toppings .. Onions, sour cream, cheese.. And the salsa on the side was pretty damn good too. The guy who took our orders was really nice. He even asked us if we had any request on music that he played for us while we ate outside. I couldn't finish what I ordered so I packed it to go and finished it for dinner. It was still so good!! Their hours are the only thing I can complain about. I wish they opened later so I can go there for dinner. .. But then again that's kind of a good thing or else I'll probably be eating that every night and get fatter than I already am.

Rick M.

Yelp
The chili is great but the best part of this place is the cornbread. They are hardly ever open, but man is it worth when they are. I got the meat chili with cheese and sour cream. So good. My girlfriend got the same but with onions too, and she really liked it. They had ran out of cornbread bowls which was disappointing. Next time we will definitely try that. The only problem I have, if you would call it that, is no place to eat inside. And while they do have a park table/bench outside there were a bunch of older gentleman siting down, hanging out, not eating chili. We ended up going to a park down the street to eat. Still give em five stars though. Great food and service.

Jill T.

Yelp
I went here the other day with a co-worker who highly recommended it. I am so glad we went in, It was delicious and the perfect day for it (it was sprinkling). The chili is very good and so are the corn bread muffins. I had enough left over to have it for lunch the next day. Call before you go because they do have limited hours.

Tim D.

Yelp
Love this place! I've tried their house chili and traditional bowl of red, and the only difference is that the house has beans in it. Both are amazing, but I prefer that house chili more because it's not as thick. Regarding the hours - these guys are mainly a catering business, and that's why they are barely open. Definitely a spot worth going to if you are lucky enough to be in the area during their hours of business.

Ray B.

Yelp
You won't find a better bowl of chili anywhere in LA! Delicious! Open from 11am until 2pm so schedule accordingly and enjoy!

Alice R.

Yelp
Easily my favorite chili in LA! Thick and meaty. I hate soupy chili so this place is my dream come true. The cornbread bowl option is fantastic but I can rarely finish it if I order it that way. Their hours are limited so try calling before stopping by to ensure they're open.

Nery F.

Yelp
This place had us wondering if it was even a business. The hours are 11:00 am to 3:30 and i always had a taste of chilli just past 3:30. But the surprise is that it serves up some great chilli. The original bowl serves two or can be lunch and dinner and if your looking for something hearty and delicious you've found the right place. It's walking distance from my home but if I had to drive for some good heart warming food I would, here's the thing.....the hours are wild for any business that wants to stay in business...but if you want to have dinner chilli...I would drive here to get it for later. Parking is in back at the laundry mat. Service is great.

Karen R.

Yelp
Scored 2 orders of chili!! Open until 3 today although sign on door stated close at 2 pm. Great food, crazy, erratic hours.

Jonathan V.

Yelp
love, love, love this place! Chili is amazing, and I just tried the cheese sandwich the other day and it changed my life...only wish I lived closer

E R.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I like that they are a mom and pop shop. It almost always means more care goes into what you're getting. They arent always open but simply call before you go and you can even place your order over the phone before you get there so they can make you a fresh cornbread bowl. It is so delicious! The chili has fresh tender meat throughout. The cornbread bowl is absolutely the perfect consistency a little crunch on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. It ties perfectly with the chili. The bowl is pretty darn big. I ate about half and was completely stuffed but it is so good i just could not stop taking bites. I got it loaded with cheese, sour cream and jalapenos and it was to dang good. I would and am going to recommend this place to everyone! David Brothers Chili...Where have you been hiding all my life! LOVE IT!
