This could very easily be 5*. The staff are very friendly and warm. The location is beautiful along the river. It just felt a little past it's best, they are currently renovating half the hotel and you can see why. It's lost a little bit of it's charm and was quiet empty when we visited (Feb is low season so understandable). We still had a nice time but wouldn't rush back at all.

Staying at this lodge in Livingstone was an unforgettable experience! Nestled right at the heart of the majestic Zambezi River, it offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere that feels like paradise. The design of the lodge perfectly blends with the natural surroundings, and every detail is thoughtfully curated to provide comfort and serenity. Waking up to the sounds of the river and watching the sunset over the water was simply magical. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making me feel right at home. If you’re looking for a serene retreat with breathtaking scenery, this lodge is the perfect escape. Highly recommended!

DL is the place to be when in Livingstone. The service is perfect. Let's not forget the food...wow. Please visit DL and see for yourself. Dont forget to book your time on the cruise. My family and I will definitely go back to DL.

Dinner at the David Livingstone Hotel was amazing on the sun deck. We made it on time to witness the sunset and were treated to a spectacular display of God's creation. Even spotted a young crocodile that the waiter days is a regular visitor to the hotels pond.

Other than Victoria Falls, this is the best part of Livingston. The food and the Zambezi River cruise are pure awesomeness! Can't wait to go back! Perfect for a romantic get away.

The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa is something of a Zambian icon, and I was drawn to it for both its name and association with the location, on on the recommendation of colleagues both in country and at home. ||||The service was attentive without overstepping, and every member of staff was courteous, friendly, and genuine. They attempted to help with all matters, including contacting third parties. From arranging airport transfers to day trips, or chasing connections that were late, it felt no aspect was too much to ask. ||||The room was incredibly comfortable and beautifully appointed. After two weeks in volunteer camps, it was absolute luxury. My only note was I found both the refrigerator and air con units quite loud and a little intrusive into a good night’s sleep.||||Food at both the bar and restaurant were of excellent quality, and the terrace bar especially offered excellent value without compromising on quality. However, on two nights of my stay, the only option was a buffet - and I found this very expensive with limited options. I know these appeal to Americans and offer great value if you eat enough - but I found it hard to get competitive value. It was disappointing not to have other options available given little else is accessible nearby. ||||However, if you are eating on the terrace, I can heartily recommend the native freshwater crayfish. They were incredible. And in the restaurant, the game roast (Kudu) was also excellent. ||||I did have to ask for my room to be turned down twice during my stay - but this was actioned very quickly and with apologies. ||||The other thing of note is the sundowner cruise. This was an excellent experience but offers the best value to those who drink alcohol. For me, where one such drink is enough, other experiences may have been better suited on reflection - and these can be arranged and discussed through Wild Horizons on their office in the lobby. Again, I can heartily recommend them. ||||The infinity swimming pool was a special place to watch sunsets over the river, as well as a great place to cool off that never got too crowded. Evening swims are not recommended though due to the proximity of the river and potential wildlife. ||||Overall wonderful!

This hotel has maintained the best standards over the years. The staff are very well trained and excellent. The food is great. The rooms and natural surroundings are very inviting and not too pretentious. It is the best destination for relaxing and rejuvenating oneself, whilst enjoying the wildlife and waters that surround the place.
