Seven of us for dinner mid-week with a reservation. We were seated immediately with no wait.
Appetizers included multiple orders of Clam Chowder and the
Caesar salad (romaine, garlic croutons, shaved Reggiano), and we were offered anchovy fillets, which I had never experienced before.
The table ordered Sea bass (sun-dried tomato, olives, alici, red pepper caper sauce), Fish and Chips, French Dipwich (prime rib, au jus dipping sauce on epi bread), Salmon, The Dead Fish Cioppino Stew (calamari, crab, mussels, clams, fish & shrimp), 1 crab enchilada, 2 crab enchilada.
Speaking for the Sea Bass, it was the largest piece of filet I have ever been served, no skin and cooked to perfection. The rest of the dishes looked very good and satisfying.
Excellent service by the staff, water glasses were refilled without prompting, and orders were prepared as requested. We had a birthday for one of our pre-teen members, and the servers made it very special.
One very notable feature: No corking fee. Many of the tables around us took advantage.
The history of the restaurant and its name are explained up front in the menus.
Parking is a challenge, but saved by a large lot across the way on San Pablo.
Overall, The Dead Fish is a keeper.
