I had a wonderful experience living at The Dean! The apartment is beautiful, modern, and comfortable — a truly great place to call home. The management team is amazing and made everything smooth from start to finish. Special shoutout to Trent and Tori from Prometheus — they were absolute rockstars and went above and beyond to help with my move-out and stay. If it weren’t for a work-related move, I would definitely have stayed here much longer. Highly recommend The Dean to anyone looking for a great home and an exceptional community!

I’ve been living at The Dean for about six months, and my overall experience has been excellent. The environment is beautiful, well-maintained, and genuinely enjoyable to come home to. The amenities are incredibly convenient and feel like a real upgrade to daily life—there are three spa hot tubs, two large heated pools, plus a work room and multiple party rooms that residents can use for free. Everything is thoughtfully set up and easy to access. Most importantly, the leasing office team is truly helpful—responsive, responsible, and quick to address any issues that come up. Special thanks to Sarah and Trent for efficiently helping me resolve a tricky situation recently. Really appreciate their support!

We have lived at The Dean for over 2 years, and at this point we are seriously considering moving out — mainly because of the fire alarm situation. The building has had repeated false fire alarms in the middle of the night, last night was at 2: 30AM, and this has already been the 6th/7th time happened this year that we have to evacuate in the middle of the night. What I can't stand is the level of loudness. We have a baby at home, and I am honestly worried about the impact on her hearing and sleep. This should never be something families have to worry about in an apartment at this price point. What’s worse is that the Prometheus management has done nothing meaningful to address this, despite repeated complaints from many residents. Even the fire department confirmed this is a building alarm issue, not an actual fire — and that they’ve been called here before for the same problem. It’s unbelievable that such a basic safety system is failing this often. For what residents are paying to live here, the level of care, maintenance, and responsiveness from management is extremely disappointing. The apartments themselves are beautiful, but constant false alarms in the middle of the night — and no resolution for months — make it impossible to rest, work, or raise a child comfortably here. We truly hope management takes responsibility and fixes the alarm system properly, because at this point the stress, disruption, and potential health impact on our baby make this building very hard to recommend.

We’ve had a great year living at The Dean. The amenities, community upkeep, and staff make this place a great place to live. Had our rent not gone up so much for our renewal, we wouldn’t have even looked to see what other options we had, but we did, so we’re moving and saving money. We will miss watching all the dogs and kids playing in the parks! A small critique is how management allows people to have whatever clutter they’d like on balconies and in hallways. It’s just unsightly. Aside from that, the neighbors and community are great!

The community is so beautiful and well maintained. I toured just before Christmas and was shocked to learn that the building is already 6 years old, I would’ve sworn it opened last month! The pools are the real centerpiece, the main pool is the largest I’ve seen in a Mountain View apartment complex, and the sky pool is a status symbol in its own right. The gym had ample equipment and everything looks in good working order. My favorite part was learning that there are no amenity fees or reservation charges for the clubhouses!! It’s been so frustrating touring these luxury complexes, seeing these beautiful hosting spaces, only to learn that management wants you to pay $500 deposit and $250/hour. But at The Dean, it’s all included. It’s groundbreaking, revolutionary, common sense. I’ve now toured The Village Residence, Landsby, and The Dean and it’s no secret who’s the fan favorite on the block.

My partner and I have been living at the Dean for 18 months and have loved the experience from Day 1. The floor plan, finishes and natural light are a step above other apartments in the area, and the common areas are fantastic either for grilling dinner, private work or hosting events. We have a small dog - who loves the neighborhood with the amazing Fayette Greenway Park close by for him to explore daily! Neighbors are all friendly - and combined with the fantastic service of the leasing office and maintenance team - this is has been a great home for us to base ourselves in the Bay Area.

Likely the best quality of life in the Bay Area! I’ve met 100s of my neighbors over the past 3 years of living here. Some of them have left The Dean for various reasons. I have yet to hear from a single person that there’s another place in the Bay that’s better value for money. Move-in: August, 2021 Pros: 1. Community - some of the smartest, coolest and caring people from all over the world. Moved here during the pandemic when you couldn’t see your own family. I have the good fortune of starting over a dozen interest groups, many of which keep me active throughout the week. In a world rapidly fragmenting into a raging pandemic of loneliness, we’ve created a deep sense of belonging here. 2. Amenities - World-class community spaces, recreational and entertainment hubs on the property. The views are some of the best in the Bay Area (not sure how much longer that will last with nearby construction projects looming). I have hosted a number of events to bring the community together. This would have been a drag if we didn’t have these spaces. And the system to book them is super convenient. It’s all included in the rent for your apartment. 3. Location - the walkability score is awesome. I love trotting over to Trader Joe’s and the restaurants across the street. My work requires me to drive around the Peninsula and South Bay. The Dean is perfectly positioned to most places within a 15-20min commute. 4. Maintenance- Common areas a well maintained. Most issues in my unit or anything I report in the building get addressed fairly quickly. The tech and cleaning crew are very friendly. 5. Classes - My fitness level has gone way up since they brought in Swyft to teach yoga and HIIT every week. The gym is great but I need the added motivation of a group workout. Cons: 1. Security issues - while I haven’t been personally affected, there have been sprees of storage breakins, car theft and packages lost. The open layout with multiple buildings and egresses, it is prime for prowlers. For the longest time, there was no 24x7 security. After lots of complaints and heart burns, the management replaced the security company. Things seem a lot better now. But this is a space to watch. In the larger scheme, my friends in the police department say that this a rampant issue all over California. 2. Team work - The quality of life and feeling of security could be even better if the parent company, Prometheus, collaborated with tentants to host events. We have an enthusiastic bunch of neighbors who are always watching out for others and want to make people feel welcomed and connected. Our many attempts to team up have been disregarded. So, we’ve had to create community by word of mouth, which unfortunately does not reach most residents. 3. Bugs and cracks - It’s bizarre that a 3 year old building from a reputed developer has a number of cracks leading to water flooding and in-unit repairs. Many units have reported ant infestation this year. The floor noise has also been a source of tension, between neighbors living above and below.

The leasing office staff can make or break an apartment experience, and Trent Groom at The Dean consistently makes this community feel like a home. He is always knowledgeable, patient, responsive, and reliable. What truly sets him apart is his positive attitude and willingness to go above and beyond to make sure neighbors (like myself) feel genuinely heard and valued. He is a tremendous asset and absolutely deserves the highest praise for his fantastic work. Five stars all the way!

I already knew that I would be impressed with the property (the beautiful pools, resort style cabanas, awesome gym) but didn't expect to have such great service from the staff in the leasing office as well. They were appropriately communicative and answered all of our questions. I mostly appreciated that they actually answer the phone any time we call! We can't wait to officially move in. Highly recommend.

Over the last 6 months, the building fire alarm has gone off 5 times, leaving us in the cold outside. 0 effort from management to figure out what the issue is. The alarm is absurdly loud. I'm fearful that my dog would have damaged his hearing. Only once was there a real fire. Clearly something is wrong with the fire equipment in the building.

I have lived at the Dean since June 2021, and while the facilities are top-notch, the Dean (and in particular the Prometheus Property Management company) falls significantly below expectations when it comes to security and building maintenance. Residents have had stolen packages, car break ins, storage area break ins, on a near daily basis. One resident even had their tires stolen and car placed on blocks! (see attached picture). Management will point fingers at the fact that this is a community issue and not Dean-specific, but when you look at the numbers, property crime at the Dean is significantly higher than the surrounding neighborhood. The problem is that the garage doors to the secure lot are perpetually broken, as as of 3/5/2023, one of the doors is still broken. In fact, both doors were broken for about 3 months and not fixed due to a "vendor" specific issue. Additionally, the majority of amenities as advertised are constantly broken and inaccessible. Currently, the 3rd floor pool has been out of service for nearly 4 months for unclear reasons. For a complex that markets itself as a luxury apartment, the standard of service unfortunately falls much below expectations.

Pros: new buildings, stylish interiors, nice amenities & common areas, great neighbors, engaging community, and convenient location. Cons: safety issues (most important), car and storage break-ins, thin ceilings/floors, high rent, false (loud!) fire alarms, plumbing issues, unresponsive/apathetic management office, slow repair vendors, faulty latch app, consistently broken or inaccessible amenities, and missing packages. TL;DR: nice complex, frustrating and at times unsafe experience Management: please do not respond to this review with an invitation to the neighborhood awareness meeting or an offer to connect and discuss further. These issues have been brought up so many times (in person, via email, on the website and over the phone) to no avail. A response at this point (w/o comp) would add insult to injury. TIA.

The Dean Review I've recently moved into the Dean apartments and I couldn't imagine a better building, management team, or apartment. The management team: Athena, Nichole, Brendan, Logan, and Antionette were both friendly, informative, and very effective in handling everything from my building and apartment tours, my lease onboarding, and my move. The leasing process is online with a very straightforward workflow. There were quick to handle some minor requests as well. Moving is such a disruptive hassle but everything went smooth. Prometheus--take note, you really have a great, professional team here. I'm super happy with my apartment. The appliances are great (in-unit washer drier, dishwasher, fridge, range, and microwave are good quality). Comcast or ATT has plenty of WiFi options. The vinyl flooring is fantastic. The bathrooms and cabinetry give it a modern look. For anyone working from home note I'm getting 500mbps up/down Internet service. I realize some reviews vary. For instance, if you get an apartment in the amenity building, it can get a little loud from people booking the grilling area or the pool patio for parties, etc. Everything shuts down at 10pm and I've only heard a few loud people--nothing compared to other places I've lived. The building and amenities are absolutely next level and all in a 21st century feeling modern building with some great mid-century retro vibes. Terraces, two pools including a lap pool (as a swimmer, that sold me), spas, fire pits, a little dog park (pets of all sizes are welcome), a professional dog grooming studio, parking, storage, shared office space, a screening room, outdoor TV viewing pods, a great room... too many to list. It took me a couple of months to really find everything. There's a tenant portal to reserve amenities for social gatherings as well. The neighborhood is super walkable to the movie theaters, nice restaurants, hole-in-the-wall paces, coffee, and gyms. A one minute car ride will find you at Target, Kohls, Walmart, and it's close to downtown Los Altos and a block south of Palo Alto. I had been looking in the area for over a year and this place has everything. It's like living at a resort hotel (we just need a bar and a breakfast place in the retail spaces!). Thank you Dean!! (My opinion based on my experiences only, I was not compensated in any way for this.)

I was helping my son to find his apartment at Dean Mountain View. I found that the leasing office team was very professional, friendly and helpful. Tea, Dipna, Jeffrey, Trent, just to name a few helpful individuals. They were helpful and accommodating to our request to view our choices, on multiple days and helped us navigate the application and qualification processes. Even though my son did not move in due to a last minute change of personal circumstances, the management team has been gracious and understanding.That's how you do business. They have earned a fan!

Review 02 (previous review was deleted by the Dean management!) - most of the Yelp and Google reviews are correct, this apartment complex has a horrible security issue with weekly break-ins resulting in damaged cars, stolen packages and items stolen from storage lockers. - the leasing staff do little to address the issue. Usually a complaint is met with a smile and 'file a police report if you like'. Security is minimal and entry point gates remain broken for months at a time. The leasing staff without exception are rude and down right nasty to residents. - amenities are always broken. The pool has been closedfor almost 6 months now. Hot tubs work occasionally. - the lack of inaction by the leasing team / management has ruined this complex. It is currently over priced and not a safe place to live.

[this review reflects my opinion and initiative w/o any compensation] After multiple months of research and consideration I moved into a studio at the Dean the first week of April. I'm extremely satisfied with the experience so far. The office staff has been incredibly patient and helpful at every step of the way -- a special shoutout to Logan and Branden as the primary points of contact supporting me so far, but everyone has been great. Amenities are world class and were the primary reason for my decision, but the unit itself is also fantastic. Time signing with a concession special and despite the sticker shock, it remains a strong value compared to private individual rentals around it. The negativity in many reviews almost dissuaded me, so a couple observations below: + as mentioned above, office staff are kind, considerate, and friendly. Really hard to see how a tenant (aka "neighbor") could have issue unless they already came in with an aggressively bad attitude. + storage unit break ins may be a risk, but can be largely mitigated with best practice. Some lockers have an extra door than others, so that's something to consider in picking a unit if it's a concern. Even though the Dean provides a radial puck style lock which is hardest to defeat, I see some units have other padlocks which expose more of the bolt and are at greater risk for being cut. The locker bolt does have room for two locks as well for anyone keeping the crown jewels in theirs. + garage doors are fast and responsive, and a new license plate tracking feature is being added to assist with the possibility of any tailgating burglars. There's clearly action from the management team. + amenities have so far been well maintained and accessible. I won't be surprised when I eventually find that someone didn't clean up after themselves though -- this isn't a hotel after all. Depending on the review platform edit rules I will update with any major new findings, but I hope this will serve to reassure potential new neighbors that a positive living experience can be had here.

NOT AS ADVERTISED This I found on their website: "24/7 package pickup from Hub by Amazon" from here: https://prometheusapartments.com/ca/mountain-view-apartments/the-dean/ Just scroll down. You'll find it. My experience was, if someone delivered a package to the locker, I'll soon get the code through an (supposedly) automated system, and then I can go down and retrieve my package, 24/7, theoretically. But my experience for the package delivery has been inconsistent. Sometimes it's outside my suite, sometimes it's in the locker. And even non-Amazon delivery will be in the locker as well. I assume whatever goes into the locker is retrievable 24/7 then. But there is one particular package with prepped and washed food that went into the locker, but I got no code to retrieve it after hours I got notified from the food prep company that it's in the locker. I called the front desk, they said I had no choice but to wait until tomorrow business hours. I told them those were food, and they even advertised 24/7 package pickup. The front desk said the 24/7 thing never happened. Nice. I asked whether they can redirect me to anyone who may resolve this. The front desk absolutely refused to be helpful, and his tone in the conversation was even rude and hateful. To add insult to the injury, in my brief stay, I found the walls to be quite thin and if you are sound sensitive (which fortunately I am not) you will be annoyed. The rest were pretty decent, but if I am to choose, I am not living in this apartment complex. The package issue gives me enough headache. If you cannot guarantee 24/7 package pickup, please don't advertise as such. You set up such a fancy "automated" system yet I can only retrieve packages in office hour. That's laughable. The package also delivered by 5pm, that I cannot retrieve that evening even at 7pm is even more laughable. And the rude attitude of the front desk hotline just sealed the deal for me to not rent the Dean in the near future. PS. I called the corporate housing company and by some magic they got me the code that the front desk claimed to be "absolutely impossible to retrieve". Now I have the package. I spent one hour trying to get what's rightfully mine. So the front desk is just being unhelpful and lazy, I guess? UPDATE: this happens for a second time... there definitely is not a 24/7 pickup. The way the community is designed does not really allow your packages to be processed and delivered to you through the code system 24/7. Either it has to happen in office hour, or you have to make many painstaking phone calls THROUGH A THIRD PARTY to retrieve your package ASAP. If you unfortunately subscribe to services that delivers perishables to you, good luck! Maybe just don't. If you live here, DON'T USE ANY SERVICES THAT DELIVERS PERISHABLES TO YOU. Which, to me, is a pretty stupid limitation of an apartment complex. UPDATE2: another food package fiasco. This time the code to get the delivery arrives 2 days after the said delivery. I have attached a photo of the label of the delivery date and time and the ruined meat because the cold pack cannot stay cold for 48 hours. Thanks for ruining two packs of very delicious and edible meat.

Building A never gets clean, Dive bar behind the chairs are dirty. The pet station never gets clean.

10.15.22 The community continues to experience near daily car break ins and The Dean / Prometheus continue to take no meaningful action to secure the garage. We literally have criminals roaming the garage and targeting the residents. It is very disconcerting and alarming for personal security.

Hoping a few bad reviews will get the attention of upper management. Bad customer service and experiencing and alarming issue currently and the dean staff is completely inactive. They will post a response saying "sorry for your experience, please contact us to chat." Watch. There is no use, they are not helpful. Would not advise signing a lease. High price and bad management. Update: Management emailed me asking to chat. Why not post it here? They said the same thing they always do, they blame it on the vendor they are responsible for hiring.

luxury prices for cheap motel services: Vehicles constantly broken Into whilst parked in the garage, same for tenants' storage units, amenities constantly broken, months to repair, incompetent front desk staff with an attitude problem blaming it on tenants who actually fear for their safety as nothing is done, the list goes on and on... In one word: Heaven.

I love The Dean team! The team is stellar - highly professional, responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The building is lovely and apartments are new with high end appliances and floor to ceiling windows. Excellent views and amenities, and centrally located. This is a great apartment complex to live in!

The apartment has really good amenities and it feels really modern. However, for the amount of rent, we pay to live here, the security concerns were a big turn-off. We constantly had car break-ins and storage units break-in in the gated area. It's been 2 years and I expect the management office to step up in its games to protect its residents. No one wants to risk running into criminal activities at home. But I do not feel very safe knowing what happened in the past and what's happening now.

This place has fantastic amenities with great view from roof deck terrace. The staff is responsive and helpful. Love it here.

This place has so much potential to be great but has a lot of things that work against its greatness. First off, it's heads or tails whether or not you will get someone who is cordial to talk to in the office. Second, there has been an issue with theft within the neighborhood amongst other things. I've had a few packages stolen of which were all reported to management. The first time it happened the office seemed to care less about the issue. The second time it happened I caught it on camera which then the office actually seemed to want to provide some action and look into the issue. However, the third time it happened they promised to look into the issue and try and locate my package but never followed up at all. Neighbors have reported their cars and storages being broken into. I walked to the garage one morning and a neighbor's car windows were smashed. That same morning another neighbor reported that their car was vandalized. One building complained of a roach problem that took a while for the office to send out an exterminator for. The fire alarms in the building go off at least one to two times a month all times of the day and night to where we all end up having to evacuate until after inspection by the FD. Which is an upgrade from when it was 3-4 times a month when I initially moved in. I think the reason so many people stick it out is due to how nice the apartment units are quality wise and the amazing community of people that occupy The Dean. But honestly this will fade if management continues to be uncaring or if the issues continue to pile.

The Dean, I do not usually write reviews, but I found what happened last night at 4 am unacceptable and unbelievable. I wish there was a no star rating because that's what i would give you for this. September 7, 2020, 4 am-midnight, one of your buildings' fire alarms went off. That's right, at 4 am. While I could understand false alarm instances could happen in complexes, as long as it's not frequent, but what so serious about last night's false alarm was your management and response team in handling an emergency. 1) Your after-hour maintenance/emergency number This is a number you called "after-hour" and for emergency maintenance. NO ONE PICKED UP AND IT ASKED FOR VOICE MAIL. As soon as the fire alarm went off, I tried calling that number, and it automatically went to voice mail. It didn't even bother to ring for a few more minutes. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. The "book", and the information on it, you gave us on our move-in day is a complete trash and usless. 2) Your Security Patrol number After trying on the after-hour maintenance/emergency number - I called the security patrol number. But I was told, "WE DO NOT HAVE A CONTRACT WITH THE DEAN." WTF. I could not even imagine what if last night was a break-in robbery or a crime was happening on the complex. I understand in these situations calling the police should be first, but the fact that your security patrol is non-existence is UNACCEPTABLE. Maybe this is the reason why you don't include your security measure on your website. 3) Bad keys for the fire department The firemen arrived in 15 mins. BUT THEY COULD NOT STOP THE ALARM, NOR COULD THEY CHECK THE FIRE SYSTEM BECAUSE THEY HAD THE WRONG KEY! The fire team literally stood there with us for another 20 minutes because they couldn't do anything. You gave them the bad keys! Then one of your staff arrived with keys, and I heard one of the firefighters said to your staff none of the keys work. The above are unacceptable and endanger the life of every single resident living in the Dean and the neighboring residents. Prometheus, you as the developer and management of some of the largest residential complexes, have no excuse for letting this happen. You consciously disregard the safety and health of your residents. If yesterday was a real fire, a slam- dunk lawsuit would be knocking on your door for your gross negligence. Finally, this is unrelated to the above, but one of your staff in the leasing office has no passion for her job. She sounded like she doesn't give a fk about her work and ignore residents' questions. I am not naming anybody, but she gotta step up. You need to fix this now. And for those of you who read this review, please, before you sign up, ask about it and get confirmation and assurance before you decide

Residents are great and the buildings are beautiful. However, the resident services are subpar and management is not transparent re: theft prevention measures. The quality of service, frequent fire alarm disruptions, break-ins, and lack of functioning amenities and gates make it difficuly to justify the Dean's high prices.

I have to give The Dean 5 stars, I am a resident of this property and we are so HAPPY! From my first email to the property to now living here, they have been awesome The office team is consistent, professional, friendly and answered all my questions without a flinch. They have made us feel at HOME and welcome. During these critical Covid times they are practicing all the CDC requirements as well, which is safe for our community. My apartment has nice big windows, high ceilings, washer and dryer, spacious with a excellent view. The pools are so nice, the ambience of this property, it is beautiful. There is this awesome picture of James Dean as you enter from the garage into the property. The decor has like a retro/vintage feel with a classy, clean vibe. One of the best I have seen in Mountain View.

We have been at this community for 6 months and are very happy with our choice. The building is brand new and evrything is cleaned on a regular basis. The mgmt staff is attentive and has worked very hard through the endless challenges 2020 had to throw at all of us. I definitely recommend this apt building to anyone looking for a higher quality lifestyle at a reasonable market rate.

Absolutely love calling The Dean home. From the outstanding and friendly office staff Trinidad, Sergio, Hieu, michelle, Suman , Andrea , maintenance tech Julio, they all work together in providing an adequate living experience . ammenities are resort style . 2 heated pools with a state of the art gym. couldnt ask for more. rooftop lounge is a great place to unwind with gorgeous scenic views of mountain view. spacious storage is also provided. great restaurants ( pacific catch ) my favorite and grocery stores are walking distance .no need to drive anywere. look no further and make The Dean your home as well.

Brian helps out tremendously, he fixes door hinges and does his job flawlessly. 100% recommended him for service request in or outside of the dean.

We LOVE this community. We have lived in many cities and many apartments over the years and this is by far, our favorite. From the beautiful amenities, great rates, and warm staff; we are happy to call this place HOME. The moment we arrived, Sergio was so helpful. We are quite picky with the things we want out of a home but he was so accommodating to our wants and so kind throughout the entire process. The Dean offers a safe family environment so if you're considering moving here, DO IT!

New building with nice amenities. But beware: there are false fire alarms every few weeks at painfully loud volume, the construction of the building is such that upstairs neighbors sound like elephants overhead even if walking normally, and the big pool gets too crowded and dirty for comfortable use most days. I moved out after they increased my rent 10%, as there are better options in the area for $5k a month.

This is a great place to live! The building is beautiful, and the staff are friendly, diligent, and professional.

Update: they apologized on the second day said it was miscommunication and notified the car to remove. We got our parking spot back.

I unfortunately stayed at the Dean, and it was at the time mostly empty because their rents are $1000 more pretty month than competing apartments. Because it was virtually empty, they were adding a toxic chemical to the water to kill germs, and that made the water not only undrinkable but unsuitable for bathing. I got out of the Dean as soon as I could. Note, they may try to delete this review to silence critics but they admitted to me they were adding the chemical.

I have so many good things to say about the staff Trinidad and Andrea! They went above and beyond to help me in every which way to make my application process so easy!! They are both very kind, welcoming, informative , and professional. They gave us a tour of the whole place and I must say the dean is very beautiful & clean. I recommend it very much I am very happy with my experience
