Yelp
TLDR: it's hit or miss, mostly miss. One time, you'll have an ok experience. Other times, you'll wish you ate anywhere else. I hope Cheeseburger's and Blue Water Terrace reopen soon.
Deep End was busy, so we had to share a table with another couple. We like it when that happens because you can talk about things to do, what you've seen, etc.
After 5 minutes, the other couple started arguing with the waitress because they had waited 30 minutes for their drinks and never received their meal. They asked for the check and waited 20 minutes for that. They argued because they charged them for the dinner they never received. The guy was fuming when the couple finally left.
Our experience was no better. The waitress took our order and then wandered the restaurant for over 30 minutes, sitting in the waiting area with people who seemed like friends, standing at the host's desk, and leaning against the bar. I tried catching her eye, but she ignored everyone, including the new couple sharing our table. I asked another waitress to find out what was happening. She found our waitress, who came over and asked if everything was okay. What? Who did she think was now taking care of us?
It was another 10 minutes before we got our drinks.
To get dinner, we had to ask two other waitresses to find out what had happened. One came back and asked what we ordered, our original waitress came back and said she didn't know what happened because she "knows I put the order in."
You get the point. The dinner was meh. It was hot since it was cooked immediately before it was delivered. The steak was cheap and tough. It was mostly gristle. The dessert was stale.
We waited for the bill for about 15 minutes. The waitress apologized, sort of, and asked what we had (what?) as she put our bill together. She waived my iced tea, saying, "Oh, don't worry about that," before taking it off the bill.
There's island time, and then there's Deep End Waitress Time. You could have a decent time on one visit, but a terrible, rage-inducing experience the next.
We did leave a tip because the servers share the money with all the staff. Some people will tell you not to tip because it encourages them to think they are doing a great job. That may be, but I still tip.
Don't go. Even people with the greatest patience will leave the place a changed person.
