The Deli Restaurant at Boschendal

We were truly looking forward to this visit, but the experience left us frustrated and disappointed. The wait time was unacceptable: our meal for two took just over an hour to arrive, while another table of six, who came about 20 minutes later, was served before us. We had planned a wine tasting after lunch, but the delay made that impossible. When we raised our concerns, the restaurant manager came over and told us to eat first and discuss the issue afterward. Unfortunately, that conversation never happened. After the meal, only the waitress came with the bill—no apology, no effort to make things right. Words of regret after the fact don’t help, and promises for “next time” don’t matter when the chance to fix things was right there and ignored. The food itself was average, nothing special, but the service was absolutely inadequate. This is how you lose customers. We will not return, and we won’t be ordering wine here again. Coming from Germany, we value good hospitality, and this was far from it. The property is beautiful and worth a visit, but based on our experience, think carefully about what you want to do on-site. For us, the planned wine tasting was canceled—and that says it all.

I don’t understand this wine farm… they take everything so seriously from the wine to the food, to decor, set-up, garden, pantry, service - everything is great! Then they serve this coffee… it’s shocking! Why drop the ball on coffee? It ruined the experience for me… piping hot, watered down, absolutely zero effort… you wouldn’t let the waitress make the food, why do you let them make the coffee? Get a proper barista and a better coffee supplier! We’re in a coffee capital with good coffee everywhere, you can do better!

Love this little restaurant and actually went there by default because their main wine tasting and restaurant building was under construction I believe. Wish they listed that somewhere before I drove all the way out but the menu at Deli did not disappoint and the service was great. I am always hunting for the Malva pudding with plenty of custard like the way we made it at home and this was a winner!!! Loved it

4/5 – Boschendal Deli The Boschendal Deli offers a beautifully curated farm-to-table experience with fresh, seasonal ingredients and a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. The charcuterie boards and baked goods are standout highlights, and the wine selection pairs perfectly with just about everything on the menu. The vibe is relaxed, perfect for a countryside brunch or laid-back lunch. Only downside? The service can be a bit slow or inattentive at times, which takes away slightly from the overall experience. Still, definitely worth the visit for the food and setting alone.

Non-peak period today at 330pm lots of waiting staff busy clearing the tables but no one bothered to serve us. We went indoors then got told we can’t sit indoors and went outdoors. Waited for 15 mins before asking a waitress in light blue denim dress who saw us but yet chose to close the table before us to pass us the menu. Again waited for a while and still no one came. We left with our menus on the table. Please step up on your service attitude.

We’re doing the Wine Tram, and this is one of the best spots to stop for lunch. They offer everything from pizzas to classic mains like burgers. Great value for money and a nice atmosphere!
