I hosted my sister's hen party at The Devlin and it was an amazing day for friends and family. We started off in the Cinema in the basement showing videos of our bride and a quiz. This was followed by a cocktail making class in the bar with Philip who was excellent. We then had dinner in Laylas which was on the terrace with gorgeous views and delicious food. The staff were amazing throughout the day and couldn't do enough for us. The service was excellent. The day was seamless and I would highly recommend The Devlin for an event.

I travel to Dublin occasionally for work and the Devlin offers a well priced option in a good location. The rooms are small and compact, limited space to work in, but it has everything you need in a hotel room with some nice extras available in there too. However it needs to decide whether it is a hotel or a venue. As I write this review, I'm doing so because I'm unable to sleep because of a wedding taking place two floors above me. The bass from the music echoing loudly. I appreciate hotels have events...but to infringe on the ability of their guests to be able to have the nights sleep they have paid for seems ridiculous.||Over the week I've stayed here, the room key has failed to work on multiple occasions and there has been problems with the kettle in the room. I will say that the staff are really helpful in resolving issues, but they all feel like issues which shouldn't exist.||The hotel has it's own restaurant (Laylas) and the food is lovely. Breakfast is not your usual buffet affair, but is chef made and genuinely feels worth the money. However it doesn't feel quite as organised as it should. Available from 7am, if you are first there then there is a good chance the room is still being cleaned and you are there before the staff. Everyone is helpful and accommodating, but it doesn't feel anything like the well oiled and organised machine it should.||I had reservations over returning to The Devlin after my previous experience here, and unfortunately my second experience has turned out to be worse. There are much better options nearby.

Had such a lovely time at The Devlin! We went for a gorgeous meal at Laylas Italian restaurant - the food was divine! Everything was beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and the flavours were out of this world. Best meal we’ve had in Dublin for a long time. We ate out on the covered rooftop terrace and the views were beautiful! After dinner we popped down to the cinema downstairs for a comedy show which was so brilliant. In stitches comedy was the show and had 4 hilarious comedians on, didn’t stop laughing throughout! Yummy popcorn and cocktails in super comfy seats. Will definitely be back to see a movie! Overall such a great night, already planning the next one!!

Be aware....rooms are Small...bathrooms are old and moldy. Shower leaked all over floor; old and not maintained well. Parking is $15eur/day addtl and is off-site, not convenient. Was supposed to stay more than one night, but only stayed on night. They did cancel the rest of reservations (3 rooms) without a fight, which was a blessing in disguise.

This is the third time I have stayed here on work visits in recent years. The first, about three years ago, they tried to add on a significant amount for breakfasts for the week stay. They wouldn’t accept that I had a breakfast inclusive rate until I produced a paper copy of my booking, whereupon they reluctantly accepted that I was right. I let that slide as a mistake. I have just stayed there again and on check-out they have charged me an additional amount for breakfast. Only a small amount, but it really annoyed me because 1) they informed me that I had gone over the daily allowance of €25, but at no point was I told before or during my stay that there was a limit (it will have been the extra cup of coffee I had on my last day!) and 2) I had actually paid for 5 days breakfast, but only actually gone 3 times, so they were profiting from me anyway. Such a petty and unnecessary attitude that leaves a nasty taste in the mouth. Also have to say that the quality of breakfast food has gone downhill. I won’t be going back for a 4th stay! Very poor attitude

Can’t say enough nice things about our stay at the Devlin. Wonderful hotel, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, great amenities and ideal location. Our group only had one night in Dublin during our travels and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. From the moment we walked in we were warmly welcomed and though our room wasn’t ready, they grabbed our bags to put in our room and sent us on our way to explore the city. Got back in the evening and our many bags were put away. Room was small but well thought out and made the most of the space. The three of us had a great night sleep on what we agreed were some of the comfiest beds we ever slept on. When leaving in the morning the gal at the front desk (who checked us in and schlepped all of our bags to our room) asked how our adventure in Dublin was and sent us off with a bunch of Devlin branded goods after we mentioned that we were meeting up with a friend with the last name Devlin. So sorry that I didn’t get your name, but thank you so much for everything!!!

Upon check in there was a huge party going on around the reception area. It was horrifically loud , it made check in very difficult as the noise levels were louder than speaking ones. However, Barbara on front desk was an absolute star and handled it perfectly. I can imagine being put in a position like that and still having to do check ins for regular guests. She remained professional, very informative and helpful, she was accommodating to any requests , all that with a smile. Impeccable service from her and she is such an asset to the hotel, coming from someone in hospitality business for years- she really is a gem.||In contrast, the room had a few shortcomings. The air conditioning either wasn’t working or wasn’t user-friendly, and no fan was provided. In a compact room, basic ventilation should be standard. While we could have asked for one, it’s something that should already be considered, especially in hotels that position themselves at this level. Still, the room itself was clean, cosy, very similar to The Mayson in Docklands or The Dean in Cork, perhaps under the same group.||Rooftop bar was great on a sunny day, we had dinner and drinks. Pizza was amazing, as well as the desserts. Only thing was waiting 10+ minutes for a drink, taking into consideration it wasn’t that busy. But it happens.||However,| allowing such a loud and disruptive gathering in the main entrance area, right beside where guests are meant to check in was a clear oversight by management. It showed a lack of foresight and respect for both staff and guests. The staff did their absolute best under the circumstances, but it’s not their job to compensate for poor planning. For a hotel of this calibre, this kind of disorganisation is disappointing and avoidable. It was a failure of management, plain and simple.. |Overall would come back !

I found the hotel charming and out of the bustle of town but close enough.|The food is very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I believe it is under new management and has vastly improved since I was last there. |One thing is book a parking in advance.

Yelp
Nice place to stay if you wanna avoid the hustle & bustle of Dublin Center. Located in the rapidly gentrifying town of Ranelagh which is full of great restaurants, pubs & coffee shops.. this joint truly is a hidden gem! Basically you can take the Luas 3 stops out of D2 and walk here, it's a bit more residential with lots of friendly locals.. they said. They are the sister property of The Dean Hotel and have a great hopping lobby bar as well as a rooftop restaurant AND movie theater downstairs! The rooms are very nice but also quite small. I really liked the little touches like the Marshall Amp & Acoustic Guitar in the room for music. Really nice bathroom & a nice view of residential Ranelagh round it out! Just like most hotels in Dublin not everything works right in the room & they are in no hurry to *comp* anything or discount the room; nothing. The shower FLOODED every time you used it no matter how you positioned the shower head. The refrigerator didn't get cold until the last day but was "Working Fine" according to a maintenance man? No. Various lights & remotes for TV worked when they wanted to.. if I'm paying this much I don't want to have to spend time on this bs.. I'm on VACATION!!! Comp something, at least maybe a free breakfast? Wow, amazing.. I spent 10 days at both properties and didn't even get a pint of Guinness on them. Anyways.. if you're solo I would recommend this place.. for a couple? Maybe too small unless you don't plan on being in the room much. Great location and pretty reasonable prices along with a decent front desk with a very pretty Irish girl will edge out the little problems// talk later PS- Try the chocolate fondant dessert at bar!

Yelp
I've never stayed here so I can't comment on their accomodation experience. What I have experienced is dinner and drinks at The Devlin a number of times. When it first opened, the service was really excellent but I feel that the levels of effort being made have dropped since then. My partner and her sister are both visually impaired and require that menus be read to them. We were eating in Layla's on the top floor. I was arriving late so they asked the manager seating them if they could read out the menus for them. The manager wouldn't do it and insisted that the waiter, who struggled with English, attempt the reading. Everybody was embarassed by the situation as the poor guy really struggled. They ended up ordering the first thing on the menu to relief the pressure from the waiter. After I arrived, they had ordered a side portion of parmesan fries which arrived cold. They sent them back and the poor waiter was made to bring them back to the table and ask which part of the fries were cold. Challenging the customer is poor form. We replied that all of them were cold. The waiter told us the chefs act like this a lot. The rest of the food was below average. Having paid up and whilst leaving we informed the manager that the waiter was great but that we didn't appreciate the kitchen challenging us on the temperature of the fries nor on the waiter being forced to read out the menu when it was clearly a struggle for him. The manager just shrugged her shoulders at us. It being very local to where we live, we won't patronise it further, which is a shame as the setting is lovely.

Yelp
Stayed here one night before heading to the airport. Overall I found this to be a nice enough place. The rooms are tiny and you won't want to stay in there for long without feeling cramped.. Great shower to clean up in the morning and a nice area. Easy access to the Luas makes it simple to get to dublin. I did ask for directions to the Luas and the gentlemen at the front desk gave me crazy directions to beechwood when the Rennalaugh station is just up the street.

Yelp
I haven't stayed here because I only live 5 mins walk away. This little hotel has created a great buzz in the village!! A few things ; Pros; 1. Beautifully fitted out hotel 2. Lovely ambience and friendly staff 3. Dinky little cinema downstairs. Priced the same as the magnificent sister Stella a mile or two up the road. Don't however expect the same luxury. It's more like sitting in a little Court room! It's handy for me though as I walk past it each evening so it's easy to catch the 6-30 show I would recommend the other Stella or the Swan Cinema for anyone who doesn't live within walking distance of this place Cons: Restaurant upstairs called Layla's. 1.Not v exciting menu at all . Too expensive for a steak and other options are boring , so we just went with pizzas. They were good 2. Worst thing is the wine menu. So so poor. Their cheapest wine ' on tap' is not drinkable. You then have to jump up to late €30's+++ for anything slightly drinkable. Unfortunately we had to drink a terrible Australian Viognier as there was such a lack of European wines. Anything decent from Europe was €45-55 They seriously need to revisit the wine menu. List some good Italian Pinot Grigio for around €25 a bottle and it would fly off the shelves Not sure I'd go back to Layla's - think I'd eat downstairs in the bar until they change their food and wine menus

Yelp
The server refused to calculate the split of a bill three ways and made me do it on a phone. Snotty attitude. Food is mediocre and overpriced.
