We stayed at The Dharmawangsa about 2.5 years ago and never forgot the stunning Indonesian interior, the delicious food, and the warm, attentive service. So when we started planning our honeymoon, we knew exactly where we wanted to go — back to this beautiful oasis in Jakarta.||From the moment we reached out to Mr. Arya at the hotel, everything was handled with care. His colleague Mr. Onggo arranged airport pickup and helped with our visa-on-arrival, making our arrival after a long flight smooth and stress-free.||When we arrived, Mrs. Michelle welcomed us with a warm smile and escorted us to our room, which had been beautifully decorated for our honeymoon. There was even a delicious cake and a beautiful gift waiting for us — such a thoughtful and heartwarming surprise!||We stayed for four nights in a spacious Executive Double Room with a wonderfully comfortable bed. It felt like a peaceful retreat.||Staff||The staff at The Dharmawangsa are truly exceptional. They seem to anticipate your needs before you even ask — something that’s become rare in many hotels. Everyone we met was kind, smiling, and genuinely welcoming. It made us feel not just like guests, but like we belonged.||Food||Breakfast here is unforgettable — the best we’ve had at any hotel, anywhere in the world. As a Dane, I was impressed that the Danish pastry actually tasted like a Danish, not just looked like one!||There’s a wide selection of Western and Indonesian dishes, and the staff will plate your choices and serve them at your table. The fresh fruit and juice options are fantastic — their orange juice is unbelievably good (we’ve only had something like it once before, in Bali). And the coffee? Incredible. The hotel has its own barista who can make a proper cappuccino, latte, or espresso — with almond, oat, coconut, or soy milk if you prefer. That’s a rare treat in hotels.||Pool||The pool area is peaceful and relaxing, with staff available to take food and drink orders. However, it could benefit from a bit more attention — perhaps a waterstation or a welcome drink when guests sit at the pool. At times, it felt a little too quiet, almost like you weren’t sure if the pool was open. A few small touches could make it more inviting.||Spa||We had two treatments during our stay and chose to have them in a room inside the hotel. While only single massages were available (a couples massage would have been lovely), the experience was still relaxing. Adding some soft music and aromatic oils could enhance the ambiance even more.||Gym||The main gym was under renovation, but the hotel had set up a temporary gym with treadmills, machines, and free weights on one of the floors. It worked well— just ask the staff where it is, if you’re looking to work out.||Atmosphere & Location||The hotel has a calm, refined atmosphere, with many guests seemingly there for business. That created a quiet, adult vibe — exactly what we were hoping for on our honeymoon. While it’s not within walking distance of sightseeing spots or malls, we used Grab to get around, which was easy and convenient.||Final Thoughts||We’re so happy we chose to return to The Dharmawangsa to start our honeymoon. It’s a place that truly feels special — warm, elegant, and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back again.
