The Diplomat Boutique Hotel

We spent a week in Merida but unfortunately only the second half was at the Diplomat (the first part of our stay we were in another part of town). From the moment we arrived, we received such individualized attention, assistance, and care. Reservations at the best restaurants and the best times were made for us before we had even arrived! Suggestions for activities were generously and kindly provided. Delicious complimentary breakfasts were provided every morning (even ones to go on excursion days). The hotel is sublime, perfectly designed and arranged. Self serve tequila and mezcal tastings in the afternoon and evenings. There is an honor bar and gift shop. The only other place I’ve seen an honor bar is in Canada and wouldn’t you know it, the owners are Canadian. The gift shop has beautifully arranged products of local artisans. Everything was so well selected. We considered extending our stay because we loved this hotel so much.

The Diplomat Hotel in Mérida is. Gorgeous place of great hospitality and friendship. I loved the Hacienda like room, the fantastic breakfast outside near the pool, the great drinks and the trust in the guests writing down what they had. But most of all the lovely, lovely people working there who could not have made it a better stay than it was! Absolutely recommended!

As special as everyone says! I especially recommend the two rooms near the front for anyone sensitive to noise, since they do not have any street facing windows. The guide Alfredo had wonderful people skills/great vibes. The Diplomat was a perfect oasis in Merida, and the owners have impeccable taste! Can’t wait to return. PS. The hotel also has delicious breakfast and a exceptionally well curated retail shop. Local & organic products are featured and well appreciated!

Love love love this hotel! Every corner is so gorgeous and well curated including the dreamy pool. All amenities are top quality. They include extra details that make every day so much more comfortable and enjoyable like an espresso machine in the room and freshly baked cookies upon your return in the afternoon. The honor bar has lots of great drink options, and the breakfast is incredible - the breakfast charcuterie board was my favorite with freshly baked warm focaccia bread, fresh fruit, gourmet cheese, etc. Warm and wonderful hosts and staff, perfect location to explore Merida, but still on a quiet side street. Truly one of the most relaxing and beautiful hotel stays I've ever had.

I travel a lot, and this is one of the best hotels I have experienced anywhere in the world. The physical facility is spectacular, rooms are large and well appointed. Every member of the staff is friendly, capable, and fluent in English. The breakfast is fabulous. I think they only have about six rooms, so you will receive much personalized attention. Prices are very reasonable. Oh, and did I mention? The tequila shots are gratis. It does not get any better than this. A+ in every category!

Treat yo’self to the best pampering ever! I got a really bad case of the flu on our honeymoon while we were in Mérida. My husband decided to treat me to the best place we could find. And it honestly exceeded all our expectations! The people are so friendly and heartfelt. They were genuinely concerned and kept bringing me fresh ginger tea and cookies without eggs (for my allergies). Fresh out of the oven! They even gave my husband a cocktail on the house while I slept. As though that was necessary with the constant availability of fresh juices, teas, coffees and even tequila. The place itself is just beautiful. The dedication put into it and the eye for detail is astounding and the air is so fresh even though we’re in the center of Mérida. I also cannot tell you how much I love the chef’s food. Like chew slowly to savour it all. It just gets better with every bite. To top it off she’s also just a wonderful person, as are the owners, the hosts, everyone who works here is absolutely precious. I’m somehow glad I got sick so we got to discover this absolute gem that set a whole new bar for hospitality in our minds ❤️ We’ll be recommending this place forever.

The decor is incredibly well curated and beautiful - including a central pool surrounded by tropical plants, and beautiful seating areas.They include extra details that make every day so much more comfortable and enjoyable like an espresso machine in the room and freshly baked cookies upon your return in the afternoon. All toiletries and amenities are high quality.
