The Dirty Monkey

This was Moose McGillicuddy's once upon a Time. We loved sitting upstairs overlooking Front Street watching the tourists. Tonight we came directly from being stuck on the road from Hana behind a landslide for nearly 4 hours. B, our bartender and waiter got our order in quickly. He made my daughter a "Mocktail" and suggested an IPA for me. Both were just right. I ordered the fish tacos... which they were out of, so beef tacos and I was pretty happy with the decision. My wife had the House Salad which was big and she really enjoyed it. My daughter ordered the popcorn shrimp which came with a tartar sauce that hinted of horseradish. All were really good and hit the spot. The only negative was that they wouldn't let my fifteen year old daughter stay passed competition of her meal (9PM) Can't blame them for having rules to live by and happy to know they are looking out for minors. Otherwise we really loved the atmosphere and great energy of the place.

We stopped in for lunch and Bobby was so welcoming and fun. It filled up with other guests but getting there on time for open at 12pm was nice. I loved the food, got the chix sandwich and did not disappoint. We also got the monkey ears and cheese curds. Very good! Try the Lotus cocktail for something sweet, and just enjoy the views of front street. I can imagine this place is really fun at night too.

We had so much fun. We came in around 8:30, I guess that's a little early for this particular bar to get poping, but boy around 9:30-10:00 p.m. it certainly changed. I love to dance, and there were plenty of people who loved dancing too. We had some great drinks mixed by very handsome bartenders, who don't love that. All the customers were very nice. Everybody just seemed like they wanted to do the same thing as I did. Dance, dance, dance, drink, drink, drink, and do a few shots, shots, shots! The one bartender shared his favorite tequila choice, deeeeelicious. Thanks, y'all. We have a great time Whoo Hoo!

The locals consider this a dive bar, but to visitors it's very charming. On a second level in Lahaina with open air in one of the best spots to do some local shopping and get food and drinks. The bar has many local hawaiin themed things hung around the bar and the service people are excited to talk to you about where you're from and give you tips on what to see. I'm not certain if they serve food, but the night life is fun and simple with quality drinks (the drink selection is huge) and there's music from the digital jukebox and plenty of televisions. Quirky and fun if you're from out of town and want to have a fun time off resort.

What a great spot! They had live music and the food was great! I had the shrimp salad with avocado and it was delicious! The energy and vibe was perfect! Everyone was friendly and welcoming. They had no waiter so you had to go order food at the bar. Their drinks were strong so, great ready for a great night out! Just steps away from the beach as well. This is a tourist spot but, it is still a great hangout spot and opened late! Also, the happy hour specials are AMAZING! I

The Dirty Monkey was amazing! Both the bartenders were great! Very good vibes with a live band. This place is huge too. Plenty of room for lots of guests. Sunday night was not busy at all. No wait for drinks. If you're visiting, this is the perfect spot. Located on the 2nd floor over looking old town Lahaina. Great view of the sunset! Be sure to check it out!!!

Great little bar. The atmosphere was laid back. The service was fantastic. The food was delicious. They had a couple French Bulldogs running around that were nice and entertaining too. Overall a great dining experience

Amanda is the reason I keep coming back... She makes me feel Always has my drink ready before I even ask. Always has a big beautiful smile for everyone (sometimes a big hug!) She's clearly very happy to be here and that's infectious!

Came here on a Saturday night through recommendation by a staff member from Monkeypod. TBH, I wouldn't have known about this place, if it wasn't for this staff member ;). I had high expectations, since it's one of the bars that open late. Hostess was awesome, but bartenders were not. Maybe they're short staffed? AGAIN I would HAVE never evaaaa known... Anywho, expect to have plenty of PATIENCE to be assist. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PREGAMING BEFORE! (Because you'll easily get annoyed waiting to be helped.) Enjoy & have a wonderful night! Aloha & Mahalo! :) ***Be very careful with patrons pouring DRINKS over the balcony. I was a split second away from being wet. (I was sooooooo pissed & annoyed) Hope they had security near the balcony to check on those belligerent folks...so disrespectful.

Come on, with a name like the Dirty Monkey how could you not go? Came here and had alot of drinks and I like the atmosphere. It is upstairs with view overlooking the street below. I think I picked the perfect place to celebrate my birthday. Someone bought me a drink and there was someone else there celebrating their birthday just like me. I had some wings and they were hot as hell. Bought their t-shirt to add to my collection. I'd say my only issue was the fact that noone comes to your table to serve you. You have to go to the bar and order everything you want.

We wanted to go somewhere dancing on our vacation and we found this place! $10 cover to go inside and it was getting really packed around 10ish. No one was wearing masks and it was a mixed crowd. It's a sports bar with a great dj and small dance floor sectioned off where you are not allowed to bring your drinks inside. This made sense since you could spill on the dance floor and it would be a disaster if someone was to fall or to even clean it up. So expect the security to kick you out with your drinks which you can leave at the table. I was dancing with people I didn't know in my own little world feeling 25 years old again LOL! Great fun spot, I didn't order any drinks or food. Just danced for a few hours then went home.

We were trying to kill some time before our early dinner and gave this place a shot. There was plenty of tables and seats. There was a good crowd watching a game. I ordered the Honey Girl which is their version of a Pina Colada. It was delicious and refreshing. It wasn't blended which was OK. I had two glasses. It gave me a nice buzz. My boyfriend ordered a Mai Tai which he also liked. I gave it try and it was to strong for my taste. He also had two glasses and felt good. We didn't grab anything to eat. We were just there enjoying the shade and drinks. I liked how there was a drink for both of us. I didn't do heavy inspecting. From what I saw and experience, this place is clean and the staff are decent. I'd visit again!

For sure if you looking for a Friday night Saturday night spot this seems like the front street strip spot. When I say it was packed it was packed not just tourist but lots of locals lots of people to interact with. Ordered two drinks in a mai tai and the other something with a hibiscus ice cube. We all seen zombieland, we'll just like that I have rules also never by a drink at a bar when it's club night cause your drinking isn't going be stronger that cough syrup. This spot is def lively and after 4 or 5 drinks trust you going feel it.

This is such a fun bar. And bar it is! It is one of the few places that is open late night in Lahaina and the party really starts after dark. They have an incredible beer and craft cocktail selection with a fun location above the street. Go to the DIrty Monkey if you are looking for a fun time with great cocktails!

Was a very hot day walking around Front Street. Starting to get a thirst going and remembered this place Called Dirty Monkey. (Years ago was called Moose McGillicuddy's) Walked around and up the stairs we go get to the top of the stairs, the bartender names Keegan greets us says sit were ever you want come to the bar to order. We're thinking if that's the case let's just sit at the bar!! Hubby orders a beer and Supreme Nachos, while I said I'm here for the ride I'll just have water. Well you guessed it that water soon turned out to be a cocktail called Cherry Blossom, then a couple of Mai Tai's. The bartender Keegan was hopping busy yet still managed to keep our drinks full. The Mai Tai is the best I've ever had on Maui, was so tasty I wanted another and another and...... Then my senses told me that's enough to drink you still have to drive back to Kihei. LoL This place is a must stop to try their wonderful cocktails and beer selection as well as finger food. We will be returning to this place again and again. There is free parking you just have to be willing to walk a distance. Who cares walking is good to walk off the food and drinks. LOL.

This is a fun little bar in the middle of front Street, for some reason a lot of restaurants in Hawaii are not air-conditioned and I'm guessing because it would cost a fortune to keep the air on lol, the food was really good and the drinks too! I only deducted a star because there's no waiters at the time we were there, we had to put our food order in at the bar and drink order and then sit at our table. It's supposed to be a really fun place at night. We went there during lunchtime. Lots of TVs if you wanna watch sports. overall it's a really fun cute place.

By far the best gastropub, sports bar, locals hangout that goes into the wee hours, even 2am on the weekends!! Live music, DJ's, LED TV's covering all sporting events and all delivered by a well oiled industry professionals that know how to please! We were even joined by the General manager for a few on the most personable of levels! I'm so amazed at the local support oozing out of this establishment, from tap list from local breweries through local fishermen procuring the freshest catch!! Highlight of the evening was toasting beer with the GM from our local favorite brewery just three blocks down the street as he explained their passionate history of re-opening after closure post-hardships of the past few years of difficulty!!

Here for the drinks!!! Ordered an old fashion and the lotus. It's really nice to see them making drinks with a peel and not just fruit didn't order anything to food, but everybody else is for the cabin. Love the atmosphere amazing views from the bar and it's Hawaii so great weather.

Nice bar/restaurant with great food and a great dj. When I first glanced at the menu, I thought the food would just be typical bar food. However, everything was extraordinarily seasoned. I was with two others. We got hot wings, shrimp tacos and a burger. All 3 were great. I also love how walkable the area is so youre able to walk your food off afterwards. I highly recommend.

We came to this bar only for drinks. Service was slow and although the mai tai was nice looking and tasted good, it was a bit too sweet.

Great selection of beers on draft and it's a great place to watch Sunday football on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Plenty of televisions with direct tv! Awesome!

We stumbled across this spot to get a few drinks and I'm glad we did! Our last night before we head out tomorrow and honestly it's a great, fun bar with a great staff. Our waitress was Amanda and she was amazing. She was helpful from the minute we stepped in to when we left and she had me cracking up each time we chatted. This spot has good music and affordable drinks! Although I didn't try the happy hour, it had great prices I wish we coulda taken a part of. If you're in the area definitely swing by. Staff is friendly, bathroom clean (y'all know I'm picky about my bathrooms) and they'll take care of you. Sad we're leaving tomorrow but happy to spend it here and when I come back I'll be visiting for sure. **Shout out to Justine also. She was friendly and chatted and grabbed us a few drinks as well.

Considering that this is really the only place in Lahaina that's open past 11pm, it was great coming to after a wedding on a Monday night to continue the party vibes. A bunch of us came in and jus had a good time. Seeing as though we came on a Monday night, we didn't expect too many people to be there, but I can see this place being PACKED on weekends. Nice water stations throughout so I don't have to bother the bartender as their catering to the drink orders, and the AC and fans come in CLUTCH that I was actually really cold in there. With a full house, I'm sure it brings much relief. Good spot to come to for a good time.

My cousins and I stopped in for lunch today to grab food and a quick drink. The menu had plenty of decently priced items and a huge whiskey menu for those interested. I had an IPA beer which was delicious. It was #6 on their beer menu. All of us ordered individually and somehow all ordered the BLT wrap. We had been eating fancy all week and were pretty happy with some more basic options. The wraps came with fries and pickles. Super yummy. This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor so some seats overlook the street. It was fun to people watch and look at the various stores below. This place is a little less formal which I enjoyed. Although your food does get delivered to your table they ask you to order at the bar. The bartender (not sure of her name] was super friendly and welcoming. She provided helpful info about the area. She also had two cute little dogs that roamed around. They are dog friendly here! The food was good and service was excellent. My cousin accidentally left a couple of his souvenirs behind. We sent other family members in about an hour later to check for them and the bartender had saved them! Thanks! I highly recommend checking this place out. While other restaurants had long wait times we were able to grab a table here immediately.

Amaretto sour Great place to grab a quick bite. Upstairs on Front St. great view, relaxing and open air breezes are perfect for lunch. If you're into Bourbon or Scotch this is the place. Massive selection of both. Food was very good. We were happy to stop and enjoy the hidden gem.

Pretty decent spot especially if you can get a table overlooking front street. We just had drinks there but they were good. Wouldn't be my top place to return to but it was ok.

Fun place for drinks with friends. The hamburger was GREAT! You place your food order at the bar and you're given a table top display number which is used by servers to deliver your food order. You also order your drinks at the bar.

Very cool bar upstairs on Front St. Across from Kimo's. Been there twice, once when they were dead and once when they were slammed. Both turned out to be a great time. Had to wait about 10 minutes to get served when they were busy but after that they took good care of us. Nice servers, huge selection of spirits especially bourbon.

Great find on a windy and rainy day in Maui. Bartender was very friendly and helpful as we discovered some good local craft beers and a great mai tai with whipped cream on top and delicious shrimp tacos and hamburgers.

Food is marginal. Beer is warm. Worse, had no trouble taking my tip when I bought my warm beer, then told our party we had to move-with our full drinks- wherever we could find another table because they needed the space for the 'dance floor.' Could they have said something before we sat there, ate crappy bar food and drank our warm beer???? I guess not. Comically bad.... 5/5/2023 I appreciate your response Tony. However, this is an accurate review. My suggestion would be to put signs on the tables so customers are aware ahead of time. If someone sits there and must be moved, have your staff assist them in finding another place to sit. Most of the staff was simply rude when we asked about why we had to move. We had literally just ordered and picked up drinks. Could this not have been relayed to us politely at this time? The food quality, etc. is on par for bar food. The business is the only place open late so until competition moves in, the business will be fine.

We stopped in for a cold beverage while cruising around Front St. and had the Mai Tai's. Of course, when in Hawaii sample each places Mai Tai's and compare. Everyone's Mai Tai's are just a little bit different and their were not different. We enjoyed them and enjoyed the vibe in the bar area. We did not sample any of the food as we had eaten just a little bit earlier. The staff were busy but the did get your order fairly quickly and it was busy with the NFL playoff games on and people coming in to watch their team. It was a fun place to relax and enjoy a cold drink on a warm day.

Drinks are dirty. Music is dirty. Staff is dirty. Pau! Locals and non locals welcome. If you're not having a great time then that's on you. The best (and only) nightlife game in West Maui is here for you.

We ordered our food with the bar tender. Ordered vege burger and came with pickle and fries. Ordered fish tacos - one order with 3 of them. Ambiance is great place to watch sports.

Slow service for a non prime time. Wanted to see what the locals rave about. Glad that the Banyan and the church survived!!! If that's true?

This used to be another bar, and I've been partying at this location for years! My family and friends have had great times here, and I'm happy it's stayed open to keep partying with all of us! Awesome fun, casual bar to have drinks with friends, meet new ones, and have fun on island. I come every time I'm on island & ALWAYS bring visiting friends here. DEFINITELY come here with friends & family for smiles and good times.

Solid spot for some good tunes and dancing some nights. Friendly and chill staff, sometimes has cute dogs hanging around, and most importantly one of the only spots in town you can get a decent drink for a reasonable price.

The Place is loud and lively with live music most nights, and big TV's w football on Sundays They have a casual sports bar menu with some pretty tasty food so if you are looking for nachos wings or a big burger this is a great spot. Service across the bar was excellent so stop in and relax, grab a bite and some excellent locally brewed beers and cocktails.

Great bar in Lahaina! Good food, great service, best mai tai and old fashioned in Maui! Great place for entertainment or watching a game! I highly recommend this place!! We come here every time we are in Maui, and we are never disappointed!

We went a couple of times while in Maui at various times of the day, when busy and not. Each time the service was great, drinks were consistent and very good, loved the Mai Tai with the lilikoi foam. The food was great, between 4 of us we tried the tacos, which are fantastic, a yummy salad, and the monkey ears were a big hit with the teens. Evenings they have a DJ and dancing which is worth coming back.

Perfect place if you are looking for a fun atmosphere with amazing drinks. Amanda is the best bartender!

We came here around 3 pm on a Friday to watch the game! It was fun and they had a lovely guy singing live music who was so incredibly talented! The mai Thai was so yummy and the foam was very tasty. They have a live DJ at 9 pm we wanted to come back but had dinner reservations! But next time! Come here :)

This bar is a lot of fun and super chill right on front street in downtown Lahaina. If you're lucky you'll get parking. if not there's plenty of Lots with parking fees but nothing out of the ordinary. $15 I believe is the price. The service is great and you def enjoy the crowd! Try anything with pineapple !! It's great for bar hoping ( there's too many bars on Front Street )or just to have a chill night while enjoying the beach breeze !

Ya know, I've heard the radio commercials when I'm driving around in my rental car on Maui, about this place called - The Dirty Monkey. Not knowing what a Dirty Monkey is.........and not to be confused about The Evil Monkey (see link). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu8UjE-eK40 I just thought The Dirty Monkey was a pretty catchy name. Lol! Yesterday while I was working in Lahaina, when it was time for lunch my original plan was to eat lunch at the Paia Fish Market, but when I got there, I found the place to be so crowded! I didn't want to endure the wait & fight the crowds (as I only had so much time for lunch), so I ended up bailing out on the joint. As I walked along Front Street in Lahaina town (while heading back to my rental car), I stumbled upon this cute little sign..........and upon reading it..........it said - THE DIRTY MONKEY! Eureka! I've found the Dirty Monkey!!!! What really drew me into this place was the catchy name & cute sign.........I mean how can you NOT like a sign with a cute monkey holding a beer??? Upon walking into the joint, I could clearly see that this place was some sort of bar & grill restaurant. The bar & grill restaurant was pretty clean, with a lot of open space. I basically came here for lunch, but the time I came, I could clearly see that the lunch time crowd was pretty non-existent that day, with just a few people inside. As I sat myself down at a table, the bartender came out & dropped off a menu and water to me. After looking over the menu, I decided to get the - Dirty Quesadilla for lunch, and to wash down my meal I picked up an ice tea. What can I say about the grub? The Dirty Quesadilla was Pretty Good! The quesadilla had blackened shrimp, chicken, & cheddar cheese sandwiched in a grilled flour tortilla. Red & green salsa accompanied the quesadilla (on the side), and a sour cream was drizzled over the top of the quesadilla. Service - Service was fast & attentive, but of course I came during a slow time. If I came during the evening, I can imagine how busy this place could get. Overall, a wonderful dining experience..........I would say the food is a solid "4", but I had to bump up a point for the catchy business name & cute money logo!!! What a cool joint, The Dirty Monkey!!!

Good beer selection and the chips, salsa and guacamole were very delicious! The salsa was too spicy for my lips and I kept trying to eat it without success. The homemade chips were awesome and I really liked the guacamole. It was fun to sit above the street and watch all the people walk by. The crowd inside was also super diverse so it was fun people watching. On the pricier side and to be expected based on the location.

My wife and I visited the dirty monkey 3-4 times during our stay in Lahaina this last week and enjoyed every visit. The bartenders were tentative and energetic. The music vibe changed depending on the time of day, but all music played was great! They get busy as the night goes on, understandably so due to the great drink selection, music, and views; it may take just a bit longer to get your drink when they get busier, but that should be a shock to no one who goes to a bar, ever. Will note that they don't have a wide selection of seltzers for those who are looking to avoid beer and liquor. Would recommend this place to anyone who is chill or on island time.

Come here for Ruby!! She makes an amazing Moscow mule, margarita and many other drinks. She puts a little twist on all of them to take your drink to the next level. Ruby is super fun, friendly and loves talking to everyone who passes through. Thanks for a great lunch and getting us buzzed Ruby!!!!

Pleasantly shocked on my bday by the amazing Matt Del Olmo playing everything from traditional bluegrass to Grateful Dead to newgrass and everything in between. Wish I was in town longer to see his funk band! Plus a great Flanders red from New Belgium and entertaining people watching over Front St. make this a very Key West-reminiscent venue. Grab a table with a fan! Following dinner, swung through for a nightcap and a surprisingly good open mic night. Diverse mix from earlier in the day. Was like a different bar at night

Great cocktails and great service! We had two cocktails and a mocktail for our friend stuck as DD. The staff were great at making him something special and didn't act put out to do so! Very clean, very spaced out, some live acoustic music and a great place to people watch the street below. Check them out!

Fun bar with good people watching. Went on a night with karaoke and we were very entertained. Drinks were good- I recommend the Old Fashion.

Went on a 7 day trip to Lahaina. Went to the Dirty Monkey 6 nights. Staff is awesome, DJ plays the music that plays well with the crowd there at the time, and Karaoke, I mean who doesn't love karaoke. 10/10 recommend great vibes!

Jason took care of us! He was amazing getting the drinks, appetizers and food for a group of seven. We had some awesome live music with Will New house! This is a great place with a real friendly atmosphere. Don't pass this place up on Front Street!

What a great spot! We stopped in for midday snacks and a drink to cool off and were so happy with our experience! We got cheese curds and mini tacos. The cheese curds were delicious! Mini tacos were pretty good, but cheese curds were great. Nice breeze and a great people-watching view over Front Street. Staff were friendly, facilities were very clean. Would happily come back for their happy hour and live music!

Great service friendly atmosphere a great drinks! It's the opposite of pretentious, very laid-back vibe ( Maui!) Great prices on the drinks as well.

Great place to have a drink and listen to live music. Came here from 3-6 to wach Clippers BB... lots of TVs and great vibe! Live music was great!
