Google
Great food. We had the roasted turkey sandwich and the curry chicken salad wrap. Both were delicious. The curry wrap is craveable. The atmosphere is very pleasant too. Recommended. Will come again!

Google
Came by here because my usual brunch spots were closed and I'm glad I did! Immediately one of my top spots in the area to go to now! The braised short rib and the chipotle beef melt are seriously delicious! The muffins are wonderfully soft and tasty as well. I'll have to take more pictures next time, but definitely a place I enjoy coming back to!

Google
I think it is very cute place and the food is tasty and for real chef looks disgruntled, a very nice person... Loved the place and the food , by the way you should try their ice creams

Katie B.

Google
Fantastic sandwiches - bread, flavor combinations, size, setting. Highly recommend!

Google
I have been to the disgruntled chef many times for breakfast and lunch to pick up a sandwich, salad, or some baked goods. For the first time, I decided to stop in for dinner and wow it did not disappoint. For our appetizer, we ordered the whipped ricotta, fig mostrada, Cippoloni onion, and mint as well as the Hot Crab Dip with Old Bay Shrimp Crackers. Both of these were very good and you could tell they were made with quality ingredients and care. For our main, we ordered Seared Cod, Peewee Potatoes, Chickpeas, Sweet Onions, Lemon & Herb Sauce, and the brand new Bavette Steak, Duck Fat Potatoes, Broccoli Cheddar Purée, Horseradish (I was the first one to order the new dish). The two entrées were absolutely delicious with the new stake dish being a highlight for me. I would recommend stop by to try their dinner this will be one of our go-to spots after hiking or cycling on the mountain this summer.

Google
Great local breakfast spot in Gardiner! I was pleasantly surprised with how good the avocado toast was! Very fresh avocado, delicious pickled onions, sunflower seeds, soft boiled egg, and sea salt. My husband really liked the apple turnover and breakfast sandwich.

Google
I love this place! The food was indescribably delicious! The Chef may be disgruntled by the amount of time he spends there, but it shows in the high level of culinary sophistication. I can't wait to try the breakfast!

Google
Really cute cafe in Gardiner. A nice menu of sandwiches and quick bites for lunch, a nice selection of pastries and sweets and serves coffee too. But the real reason I keep coming back? On weekends they serve breakfast and the egg sandwich is just heaven on a bun! There's also a selection of premade meals that your can take home and reheat, local ice cream and beer and a freezer with local meats. We haven't had the chance to try their catering or dinner meals, but plan to in the future. Great stop after a walk on the nearby rail trail.

Yelp
Post a hike in the Shawgunks, we were hungry and saw this place got good reviews. We were a bit early (dinner starts at 5), but we're seated quickly inside where it was very quiet. It looked like a store rather than a restaurant, but the waitress came by with two menus. We ordered the beets and a cornbread. I wasn't sure if the cornbread was gluten free but my husband said it was good. The beets were great -- spicy and savory. For main courses, he had the halibut and I had the shrimp -- I thought the halibut was tasty (I had a couple bites) and the shrimp was okay (not as much my sort of thing -- I liked the corn but maybe too much dill for me? My husband liked the dill though...) It really is a no frills place though with good food.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place but am overall satisfied. Absolutely delicious Salmon pastrami sandwich - 5stars The best pickled onions I've ever had Good Dirty chai Tuna melt - it was good but they only gave me 3 pieces of toast and one piece was over done. So I feel like I got 3 quarters of a sandwich and paid $14. Bad Latte - mediocre. Just barely warm barely flavored milk driving out espresso.

Yelp
Went with a friend and he raved about it. We had the BLT special. It was delicious. Busy little place but orderly. Staff knowledgeable and engaging. Comfortable atmosphere.

Yelp
I was in the area, looked at the reviews and thought I'd give it a shot. You can't wrong with a sausage and egg and cheese. Sweet waitresses and staff. Nice I indoor and outdoor seating. 10/10. Really delicious seg. Very easy to get it wrong but they may have just created one of the best I've had. It did get a little messy since everything was on a brioche roll but I'd have it again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
We came in on a Friday at 11:00am. We have been in the area and passed this spot several times. Today we decided to stop in and check it out because of the name. We ordered two large espresso. Our server was really friendly and told us about the dinner that they offer.

Yelp
Holy cow!!! This place is absolutely amazing. It may not have a cozy atmosphere but the food will blow you away. Their sandwiches are very unique and super tasty. It is a must if you are in the area

Jessica R.

Yelp
The drip coffee was very good. I got the avocado toast that comes with pumpkin seeds and pickled onion. It was good. Cranberry scone was delicious as well. Would definitely recommend. Ambiance was relaxing. Friendly staff.

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner on a whim. They are only open for dinner Friday and Saturday and have a small menu, but everything sound delicious. We opted to share the pork belly sliders (3) and the short rib poutine. Both were excellent. Very flavorful. The sliders were very balanced with enough acid and crunch to really stand out. I'd definitely have those again. The poutine had depth of flavor to the gravy and the cheese curds were crisped before going into the dish, a nice touch. We ended with the butterscotch pudding for dessert which was subtly sweet until you got the caramel drizzle on top. Overall an excellent meal, and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Im not exaggerating or doing a bit or anything when I say this. I have no skin in the game with this place so keep that in mind when you read this review. Hands down, no contest, the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The one with the mortadella on it blew me away. Honestly, I wasn't even sure I was going to like it because it sounded too crazy for what I wanted at the time but man, I was wrong. Fresh ingredients, soft egg, bouncy warm roll, savory delicious breakfast sauce. It really changed the standard for what a breakfast sandwich should be. I walked in, first welcomed by a cute, clean cafe. The vibes in there were phenomenal. I can imagine sitting there all day sipping on a slow drip coffee reading a book. When I walked up to the counter the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I said "I heard this place was good, give me your most popular item." After I ate my breakfast I went back in to purchase some of their in house made items to go because I don't live close and I needed to try EVERYTHING. I started sending everyone I know to this place. Normally I try to post funny reviews but really there's nothing to joke about here. 100/10 this place needs more than 5 stars.

Yelp
I found the service very friendly and down to earth, love local places like this where you have people that know the area and tell you about it as you order. The brioche bun sandwich, the bread was pillowy soft and toast just right, eggs were fried alright, although a runny sunny egg would been better, cheese was thoroughly melted, never a fan of cold cheese on a hot sandwich. For the cookies, just awesome, chewy and very soft, surprisingly since little cookies tend to be on dried out side.

Michelle R.

Yelp
Food was good, although a bit over seasoned. Clearly they try from a culinary perspective. Unfortunately, the woman taking orders and payment is very unwelcoming and rude.

Thomas G.

Yelp
The food was amazing, great flavors and good size for the money. Will be stopping there again when we move up there.

Laine M.

Yelp
Our few experiences have good as far as the food goes, great breakfast sandwiches and muffins. We always get some grab and go also which is very good. Some other reviewer mentioned the female at the register taking orders, not the most welcoming - this is very true. You can see through her attitude and she has no business dealing with the general public. Not the person you want as the first thing you deal with in this nice, very zen, place. We go for a nice time, expensive prices. Nobody should have to deal with any sort of attitude or someone who would rather be somewhere else. One time, she wasn't that bad, but you could just see that she is one step away from it. The ice cream and ice cream sandwiches are awesome!

Yelp
This is a cute sandwhich spot tucked away in upstate NY. In addition to sandwhiches they sell alot of great deli cuts and other foods like ice cream. If you pop in during the day youll find people working on their laptops which made the place feel homey.

Yelp
Great choice for a quick and casual lunch when traveling in the area. I enjoyed the Turkey and Bacon sandwich. Fresh and delicious. My other half enjoyed a delicious fresh salad. All super fresh ingredients. Polite friendly service. Lastly, the fresh baked cookies are a best ever. And the coffee is hot and refreshing. Great choice this weekend.

Yelp
Fun easy spot for a quick bite and a good priced DECLICIOUS coffee! This store front, previously Julian's Provisions, has been remodeled and updated and is now The Disgruntled Chef. The staff is very friendly and the food is yummy! It may sound lame but I really enjoy the Cesar salad lol. There coffee is also delicious. I got a vanilla latte with oat milk. Literally the best cup of coffee I have had in a long time ! Beware they do have oat milk but the machine they use is also used for dairy milk. All in all, a great store I'll for sure be coming back to with quick to grab yummy food !

Yelp
Just stopped in for a quick lunch a few weeks ago, and got their leek and cheese quiche and a coffee. The quiche was absolutely perfect, with a barely set, almost custardy base that reminded me that any quiches I've pretended at were frittatas in a crust. The side salad was classic, and the coffee rich and well made, not burned or overroasted. I was very pleased with the choices available.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and service! It's a must if you're in the area! We went every day when we stayed at wildflower farms

Steven C.

Yelp
It's a local gem. I'm a regular customer and this place always delivers a delicious meal. Great service too... kudos to the chef/owner and staff.

Yelp
If you are looking for a local place to have an enjoyable brunch, I highly recommend Disgruntled Chef. Sandwiches and pastries are amazing. So far we have had the Pastrami Cured Salmon on a toasted bagel, Herbed Lemon Tuna Melt and chocolate croissant. All were good and we continue to come back for more! They also carry a line of ice cream and local Full Moon Farm refrigerated meat products (Gardiner, NY).

Yelp
I love this place! I usually grab breakfast or lunch here at least once a week. The food is always delicious and high quality. The space is a cozy rustic chic which makes a great place to decompress after work or take an offsite meeting. Britney does an incredible job. Every time I come in I'm always treated with a friendly smile and fantastic service. They've got a great team there!

Michael M.

Yelp
We both had the burgers, which were very good, with the hand cut fries. They were awesome. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. Parking is a little difficult, but worth the effort. They have outside seating, but because of the heat, we elected to eat indoors. Will definitely eat here again!

Yelp
Had breakfast there a couple of times and cannot recommend it enough. Modern atmosphere and classic food with a decidedly modern and delicious twist. Make sure to check their hours before going.

Yelp
Love this place, the overall feel is amazing ! Great coffee and food especially the quiche, been here a few times just and can tell they have great quality ingredients. But a note for the friendly attentive staff please when you make an iced latte don't pour the espresso over the ice then add milk because it waters down the espresso. I can tell the espresso and milk is of high quality but execution leaves results with a watered down latte, I asked last time to alter this and they were more than willing to accommodate and added the espresso last and it made for a delicious latte! This place is definitely worth stopping in and trying everything on their menu because nothing has disappointed thus far!

Yelp
This place is a true gem. On our way home from a day of hiking in Minnewaska State Park, we stopped in for a sandwich. Got the turkey with arugula, some chips, and some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. HEAVEN. The sandwich was a work of art, all the elements coming together perfectly the way a truly great sandwich does. The cookies? Amazing. I can't wait to go back to this spot next time I'm in the area, and try another one of the sandwiches or salads on the menu. We took ours to go because we had our dog with us, but it looked like a very cozy place to stay and eat too. Next time!

Yelp
Biked from New Paltz on the beautiful bike trail, and enjoyed a stunning bagel with incredible house smoked salmon, iced Americano, and chocolate croissant. Airy, bright, and friendly atmosphere inside. Wish we lived closer! Great place. I would have added pictures but had zero patience and ate as soon as the food hit the table. Service was also perfect.

Yelp
Excellent place for breakfast, lunch, take-out, and gourmet grocery items, especially their specialty coffee, which is made with Gavina gourmet beans on a very fancy Swiss coffee machine! The owners are classically trained cooks who have worked for Michelin starred chefs in Vienna, New York, Chicago and San Francisco, and only use the freshest ingredients from local, national and international purveyors. You won't be disappointed with the coffee, which is one of the best in the Hudson Valley, nor with their freshly prepared gourmet sandwiches, salads, homemade ice cream and holiday meals. If you're in the area, The Disgruntled Chef is well worth a detour!

Alicia Dee L.

Yelp
this place is absolutely delicious! BUT please update your hours on Google, yelp, website, etc. I've been there twice in the past two weeks and you were closed. several other people were there too and disappointed.

Sabrina C.

Yelp
Just stopped in for lunch, was drawn in by the beautiful flowers out front and wow! The food was incredible! Such great choices made it really hard to choose just one sandwich. The staff was kind and helpful and very quick with our order. You could also order online to pick up if in a rush. Fresh and prepared food options and meats in the cooler as well. Nice coffee bar and bakery treats to offer as well. Indoor and outdoor seating choices. Would 20/10 recommend and will be back again ASAP!!!
