Dodo is always a great spot for dinner, and even though it was busy, we lucked out and got seated right away. Our server was fantastic, taking the time to explain all the specials and making us feel welcome. We started with the artichoke pie, which came with a wonderful lemon aioli—super tasty and surprisingly filling! I had the ginger sauce stir-fry with shrimp, and it was delicious but so generous that I couldn’t finish it. My other half had the Greek pasta salad topped with grilled salmon, and the salmon was perfectly cooked—tender, flavorful, and just right. We kicked off the meal with a Pinot Noir, which paired beautifully with everything. We were too full for dessert, but there were so many tempting options—next time, I’m definitely trying the Black Forest cheesecake! One little detail I love—their Dodo logo on the menu. It’s such a fun, quirky touch that adds to the charm of the place. We’ve been here many times, and while there’s usually a wait (because it’s just that good), every now and then, we get lucky with a quick seat. Either way, it’s always worth it. Highly recommend!

Google
Loved our server, Porter. He was very kind and understood when I asked for help deciding what to eat. Mr. Porter made sure our food and drinks were perfect, and he changed them if they weren't quite right.

Had an opportunity to drop in for a late lunch, seating was a little uncomfortable as all patrons were jammed into one section...Not normally an issue but a table for two really do not want yo sit next to a table of 10. Waiter was pleasant and on task. French dip was bland. Brocoli soup was good. Eggs Benedict were nicely portioned again needed seasoning and was accompanied with ample sauce. Read many wonderful reviews this just didn't the spot with us.

Ethan was our waiter and definitely made the experience a highlight of my visit with friends. He was very attentive our water was never below 1/2 glass, his reccomendations were spot on. Food was prepared perfectly and the deserts were excellent. This is on our visit list next time we are back in SLC! I'll be getting the Ahi Medalions next visit as an appetizer

Google
I love a good soup and sandwich place, and based on reviews this looked promising. It was full, since the terrace was closed for the season, when we got there at 11:45 on a Friday morning, so it must be popular. They got us in quickly and the food came quickly. As for that food, we had the club sandwich, the bacon mac and cheese pasta, and the Reuben--of the three the Reuben was the best, though that's probably because that's a top notch sandwich in general. The club was rather dry and a little boring. The soups--chicken rice and the chowder--weren't bad but average. Same for the pasta. We had heard the desserts were great, and with 12 options prepared by a pastry chef, that was promising. They were fine. Huge slices, and I mean huge, but just fine. The crust on the pies weren't flaky and proper but the custard filling was good with lots of meringue and whipped cream. The cherry berry torte was good, and I really appreciated the use of real whipped cream in plentiful quantities. I would probably give it higher ratings if it weren't for the price. At $16-19 per sandwich I don't think it delivers more.

Google
What an amazing way to spend an afternoon. The restaurant's atmosphere is perfect if youre looking for a family day outing. The tables were well spaced so that even during the busiest time, it is still possible to enjoy a conversation. The restaurant's interior is similar to a high end restaurant without the inflated prices. The service was enjoyable, although the wait between our appetizers and entrees was a little long. As a consequence, our entress were a little cooler than I would have wanted. My mocha was a spectacle. I'm a snob about lattes, but this mocha was one of my top 3 lattes for the past eighteen months. The food was amazing. The roasted tomato polenta cakes were as delicious as they were beautiful. I could have eaten the pine nut relish on its own (and I did)! The side of soup with our reuben was smooth and converted me to soup with corn as an ingredient. And the reuben, a favorite of mine, was worth the wait.

Google
Had one of the daily specials, shrimp mozzarella baked pasta (see pic). It was perfect. Hit on all points. Had a slice of key lime pie wasn’t my fave, but the didn’t matter as the rest of the meal was great.

Google
Service was amazing, and there were plenty of gluten free options. I had the polenta cakes, the salmon, and their gluten free peanut butter cheesecake which was to DIE for. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is a mainstay option in the Sugarhouse area. Directly north of Sugarhouse Park, The Dodo is a cozy and inviting restaurant. On summer nights, there's no better place to meet than on their outdoor patio. The staff here are always welcoming and attentive. They have a wide variety of food, with some standouts being the ham sandwich, chicken pasta, and their soup. A rotating selection of daily soups is what really shines and always draws us back to this spot. Honestly, if you just come for soup and pie, it's more than worth it. The desserts here are among the best offerings in the entire state. There are a regular assortment of decadent, fresh-made pies (the banana cream being a personal favorite), as well as a rotating stock of seasonal options. You can't go wrong with any of the options here.

Yelp
After trying very very hard 4 different times because of Sherry's love for this place, I have come to the conclusion that the Dodo is the definition of "Mid" or "middle of the pack" or "not bad at all, but not great" the Dodo is medium 'good'. For more clarification... A "median" is the middle value in a set of numbers arranged in order, meaning that half of the values in the set are higher than the median and half are lower; essentially, it represents the midpoint of the data set. Tonight was the pork tenderloin with chimichurri sauce, veggies, and mashed potatoes for Jerry. The veggies and mashed potatoes being below average, the pork being dry and mid as can be, and the chimichurri sauce being very very good. Whoever is in the back crafting up that chimichurri, never change. This brings the overall score to an astounding and sure "Mid". My sweet Sherry gets the dirty bird salad and she thinks it's incredible. When you factor in the fact it's over $20 for a salad, it's quickly becomes mid when all the weighted factors are taken into account in Jerry's algorithm. The reason this review will end with 3 stars is because the toll house pie was very good, very above average, and very much tickled my buds. Yippee! This is a place Jerry won't find himself coming to alone, but with sweet Sherry, it's still a splendid time and worth it. Best, Jerry

Yelp
I have no problem paying more for good food, but the entrees were definitely not worth the menu price. They seemed like what a mid-range restaurant like Applebees or Chilis wants to be. I ordered the halibut for $42, expecting a high quality tasting meal from a nice restaurant. The fish was overcooked and dry. The blueberry sauce was interesting but not a huge fan. The mashed potatoes were drenched in butter and so were the veggies... but they could've used more flavor. It was kind of basic... like Applebees. However, the house salad with bacon dressing was excellent! The dressing was the star of the dish, but the house salad itself could've used more topping. It just felt like I was eating lettuce and dressing. Tho service was fine, and they have a nice selection of seasonal desserts. Overall, I would come back but I would not recommend the seafood or meat. Order the salads (other reviews seem to enjoy them too). The menu here has potential, but the restaurant just needs to learn how to cook it right or hire better chefs.

Yelp
Just starting off, the food was basic but solid. However, it's very overpriced. For a smallish turkey sandwich with an okay French onion soup, it was over $21 which is bananas. My wife's crab Benedict had way too much sauce which was overkill. The best thing was the free coconut and pineapple muffins they gave us before the meal. They were moist and pretty tasty. This is a pretty old spot in SLC it seems so the decor is kinda outdated. Our server was super nice and checked up on us. The manager also checked up on us which is nice. They def care but in terms of food and price, I wouldn't go for a second visit.

Yelp
Very cute restraint with charming paintings of Dodo birds in the walls. The food was okay, not fabulous and not bad...somewhere in between. People that are not foodies but do enjoy a good meal they didn't have to cook will love this place. Be sure to save room for the pie! I did not, sadly, but the others at my table really enjoyed it! I'd recommend the cheese and fruit starter.

Yelp
I've never had a bad experience here food wise or service wise. My favorite is the Cajun pasta and I like to add shrimp. The pies and desserts are to die for and I don't even like sweets. The restaurant is also very cute and clean. Breakfast/brunch I had a crab omelette and it was delicious
google avatar

Steve W.

Yelp
This may be the best meal I've ever had - and it was keto friendly! I will spend the rest of my life trying to figure out how to make quiche that tasty and custard-like. The service was fine and the atmosphere was great other than some yelling in the kitchen and an overall noisy acoustic. If I lived here I would make this one of my go-to restaurants when I have the money to splurge.
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
The Dodo, a long time SLC staple. I remember taking dates here in Highschool and College, and coming late ish just for desserts. The locations were different back then but much is the same. My wife and I both had pastas mine was the Blackened Cajun chicken, really good with excellent flavor. But similar to others I've had for less. 5/5 Side Caesar salad. 4/5 My wife had the Chicken Gorgonzola pasta special, with pine nuts and sun dried tomatoes. It was even better than the Cajun pasta. 5/5 Waitress was very friendly, taking pride in her job and telling us they take their service serious here. So why four stars instead of five. The prices are very high. $20 for sandwiches and pasta dishes. It was $65 for both of us with no appetizers and one soda.

Yelp
Why do I love this place so much?!! Probably because everything about this place is perfection!! I come here 5-6 times a year and I'm NEVER disappointed. We always have great service and amazing food. Without fail, I get the Smoked Turkey with Swiss. Every. Single. Time. Why mess up this good thing I have going for myself? The barbecue dipping sauce is incredible and the house side salad is also top notch. I hear there are many other good things on the menu but I just can't bring myself to part from my beloved sandwich. I do however switch up my desserts. I go back-and-forth between the banana cream cheese pie and the peanut butter cream cheese pie. The toll house pie is just ok for me, as well as the coffee cake. But you can't go wrong with those first two I mentioned. But I guess everyone has their own tastes. Please go to this restaurant and enjoy every bit of it!!!

Yelp
I went here for brunch with friends and our kids. The wait for a large table wasn't terrible, but the wait for food took a long time. I got their French toast combo and the French toast wasn't anything special, the scrambled eggs weren't the best and the sausage was just the frozen sausage patties. My friends rave over the steak sirloin salad. They give you a yummy coconut bread roll type thing. Overall just okay on the food.
google avatar

Rebecca M.

Yelp
I get so excited when we go to Dodo! The food is always good and the service is exceptional. They want to help you get just the right thing. The crab Benedict is what you NEED to get for brunch. Everything else you can't go wrong either! I hope I come back soon!
google avatar

Brittani W.

Yelp
Absolutely the best desserts in town and I loved the outside seating. Grayson took the best care of us and was so pleasant to bed with! The house gingerelle was so so good. The entrees was good but not the star . For me, I HIGHLY recommend the Brussels sprout soup. Absolutely delicious! My husband got the salad to start with the house made dressing, SO GOOD.,
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
The ambiance here is very upscale but not pretentious. These people know what they are doing when it comes to pairing flavors and textures! The tomato polenta with chipotle's sauce was creamy with slightly firm texture topped with chipotle sauce and layed on a bed of creamy avocado, paired with a savory corn relish. The pasta was just loaded with depth of flavor, the shrimp hot but not overcooked or rubbery. This is a definite go to if visiting Salt Lake's sugar Hill area. Trent, thank you for truly amazing service! Best of luck this year on your Master's degree
google avatar

Cherilyn M.

Yelp
The Dodo is one of my favorite Salt Lake restaurants. The simple turkey sandwich turns amazing with the Dodo barbecue sauce. On this particular evening, unfortunately the salad was drenched in dressing which is why I gave my experience 4 stars. However the Baked Cream Cheese appetizer and Poppy Seed Cake were perfection.
google avatar

Yelp
Great patio seating! If it's nice out, it's a lovely place to enjoy your food. I went in the morning and there wasn't a lot of traffic on the road beside us so it was great to get some fresh air in peace. The staff was quick to give me a water upon seating and a muffin with butter to get started. I forgot to ask if it changes daily or weekly but I loved that my experience started with a complimentary treat. For my main dish I ordered the Eggs Benedict. It was good. I didn't feel like this was a dish I would order again, it was pretty average in comparison to other Eggs Benedict's I've tried, but it wasn't bad. I'm sure I'll come back again another time to try something different.

Yelp
Great restaurant all around. My favorite so far has been the ribeye with blue cheese bacon crumble, which is one of their specials. The homemade desserts are amazing as well, especially the sour cream blueberry pie.

Yelp
This place is an overrated Denny's... the food was horrendous. We had the hummus appetizer (I don't think the chef has ever eaten real hummus), the chicken noodle salad and the ravioli... all tasted like it was from a cheap chain restaurant but costing a ton more. I knew the desserts would be awful... like something you'd buy in a grocery store, but my husband insisted on getting the tollhouse pie... beyond awful. I had to get an old fashioned to get the taste out of my mouth. If you like Denny's or chain restaurants you'll love this place. One reviewer gave a bad review saying this was an overrated trendy place... the trendy was part of why we came... this place is as far from trendy as you can get, unless the definition of trendy is loud. But decor is again, Denny's like and from 30-40 years ago. Never again! Oh, service was good so that's where the star comes from, otherwise I'd give a negative number of stars if I could. Incredibly disappointed that we wasted our last meal of our vacation here.

Yelp
Fun belated Mother's Day dinner tonight!! I only took pics of my food, but everyone enjoyed their meals!! Isaac was a great server and took good care of us! I had the Gin Thyme to drink and the Garden sandwich on sourdough. For dessert I had the Butter Rum Pecan pie and an Old Fashioned (it was a little sweeter than I would have liked). Other food items at the table included: Dodo club sandwich, pork quesadillas and shrimp scampi special. Desserts were key lime pie and chocolate mousse pie. Drinks were Hefeweizen and vodka lemonade. Great food and fun was had by all!! Haven't been here in a while and definitely would like to dine here more often!!

Mary C.

Yelp
Great lunch as usual and our server, Josh, did a great job taking care of us! Hope to be seated in his section again.
google avatar

Jonathan E.

Yelp
The food was overall very bland and extremely overpriced. The Caesar salad tasted like nothing. The lettuce was so watery it washed out any flavor the dressing might have had. I told my waitress I didn't like it. She made zero attempt to sub it or make it right. It was really expensive for the quality of food. The dessert was the highlight of the meal. I had the banana cream cheesecake and it was delicious! They did have a good wine selection too. I'd come back for drinks and dessert, not dinner.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Terrific lunch, great server, delish food. Caesar salad with chicken was wonderful and more than enough food. My only complaint is that this hasn't been the noisiest restaurant in town. Hard to have a cross-table conversation without shouting.
google avatar

Tiff S.

Yelp
This place has always been a staple of mine. I've come here for years and never been disappointed. The ambiance is lively and energetic but intimate at the same time. Its great for date night or a large group. We were seated for two when coming in at 7 during a dinner rush. Our service was prompt and pleasant. Food: they are famous for their desserts. I have had a couple things over the years and have always enjoyed whatever dessert I order but I don't typically get dessert because I'm so full by the time I'm done with my meal. I mainly come here for dinner because their beef stroganoff and cajun chicken pasta have remained some of my favorites and have consistently been good. Appetizer wise I always get the baked cream cheese and crackers. It's unlike anything I've had and it's got a great mix of savory and sweet. Brunch is also delicious. I usually go for the eggs benedict. Serving size is very generous for what you pay for. You won't go wrong if you eat here.
google avatar

Garth S.

Yelp
What a secret surprise in this restaurant. My first visit and I can't wait to come back. Service was wonderful. The food was stacked with flavor. You can come and just have a. Up of wonderful soup or a Cajun halibut taco or pasta with a Cajun Alfredo. Wife had a club sandwich toasted. Such a nice quality restaurant. A must visit.

Steve H.

Yelp
Love The Dodo! The pasta dishes are all fantastic and the desserts are outstanding. We always come back when we are visiting in town. Service can be a little slow at night if you have a big party but it's not too bad. Great spot of town now that Sugarhouse has really grown too!
google avatar

Nicole O.

Yelp
We went in for brunch Saturday for my daughter's birthday and we had a party of 18. They do not take reservations but they were able to accommodate us!! Customer service was excellent! Food was delicious. Great atmosphere! We had a great time
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
I wish the Dodo would do reservations or do the Yelp wait list because we had to wait more than 2 hours for our party of 11. We came here for my cousin's birthday and I believe this is the only place we've been in a long time that we've had to wait that long for a table. Parking is a mess, but it's in the heart of Sugarhouse and parking is a mess everywhere. If you can't find a parking spot in the lot, you have to park in the neighborhoods and walk. The food was mediocre and not hot when it arrived to our table. It was kinda cold. I'm not sure I agree with some of the reviews giving it 5 stars for taste. I asked around the table to see how everyone else felt about their food and they all had the same idea. You know when you eat something that's good the first couple bites, but then you start to get sick of it? It's like that. Dodo is also known for their in house dessert. We did feel a bit rushed when we asked questions about the pies, so we had them box it and we went home to try it instead. I understand that by the time we were seated it was starting to get late, but I think we deserve the same treatment as the people who were seated earlier than us, if not, then maybe they should honor reservations for large parties cause we would've been out the door by 9PM. Unfortunately, I don't understand the hype and I don't think I would be coming back by choice.
google avatar

Jaclyn L.

Yelp
I mean, the food was good. But also it was $25 for this. That is just crazy to me. It was also super loud. I had to keep asking "what?!" To my friend across the table from me. Won't be my first choice if I want a sandwich again
google avatar

Jack T.

Yelp
I would say the food is very lackluster for the price, everything was edible, but not as good as I expected. The highlight of the meal was the to go banana cream cheese, pie, which was exceptional! Definitely a good spot for dessert.
google avatar

Missy M.

Yelp
I love the Dodo! Their desserts are the best! My favorite is the peanut butter pie. It has gingersnap and walnut crust, a huge layer of peanut butter and topped with chocolate ganache and home made whipped cream. For entrees I love the beef stroganoff, Turkey sandwich with avocado and the "secret menu" dirty bird salad. This place is almost always busy but the service is usually pretty quick. This is a perfect place for any occasion. I had my bridal shower here. They have patio seating which I love as well. Throughout the restaurant there are painting of Dodos and they write all of their specials on a chalkboard. My only complaint is it gets pretty loud at times.
google avatar

Justine M.

Yelp
Pro tip: the halibut is soooo good. The honey backed salmon is alright, but if you love seafood, skip the salmon and go straight for the halibut. Ask for the soup of the night too, and if it's chicken tortilla, just get it. You're welcome :) As for a cocktail pairing, I'm no expert but the Elder Rye is a solid choice no matter your menu selection.
google avatar

Tashelle W.

Yelp
This was a great experience on a rainy day. We got there right as they opened and were greeted by kind and energetic staff. The food and dessert were wonderful and service was top notch. The first cocktail we tried wasn't the best, but the second one we tried was really tasty. Note, alcohol isn't served until 11:30am or later (at least on the weekdays). Highly recommend any of there desserts. These are made in-house.

Yelp
Came solo for dinner before seeing Barbie across the street. It was pretty easy to park in the surrounding around and I was seated quickly. Since I was dining solo, it didn't take long for me to determine what I wanted, so I ordered fairly quickly after being seated. I opted for the shrimp margarita pasta and a side salad. The salad came out super quick and was just okay. Some of the lettuce was fairly wilted and looked like it was about to expire in a day. When my pasta arrived, I was looking forward to trying the spicy sauce that accompanied it. Overall, it was okay, the shrimp was fantastic and I wish more came with it. However, the sauce wasn't spicy like the menu alluded to. Also, warm avocado is very interesting and wasn't too appealing. I ended up having to add some salt to the dish and took about half of it home with me. I stopped by since a girlfriend of mine raved about how she hasn't had a bad meal here. I'd be interested in stopping by for breakfast or lunch one day to try other items.
google avatar

Katherine T.

Yelp
I'd been resisting coming to this restaurant, maybe because I'm far too trendy when it comes to food. This place doesn't really do trendy. It could also be the weird quiche comment in the Salt Lake Magazine review, because I never sit around thinking about where I could get a good quiche. The menu is American classic with a few surprises. It's nicer than diner food for sure, but you'll still find some classic things like clam chowder and a shrimp salad sandwich. Maybe the SLM review should say "it's nice to know where you could get a shrimp salad sandwich" instead. I digress. The tollhouse pie was pretty good but I'm a crust snob and it was ho hum. My sister loved her key lime and ate more than she's planned because we were both full from lunch already. I loved our server. She was friendly and funny and treated us like family. Good luck with law school interviews!
google avatar

Tiffany G.

Yelp
We came here for dessert. There are numerous pies to choose from. I had the peanut butter moose which was delicious! Our server, Mike, was very friendly. The patio was nice to sit out on as we enjoyed our time together.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
First time here and I tried their special of chicken macaroni pasta, and it was delicious! So creamy and cheesy and just perfect for me. The server was very nice and the vibe was great all around. Can't wait to come back!

Sandra C.

Yelp
The Dodo is always delicious and consistent. Loved the salmon salad, cooked perfectly. The service provided by their newest addition, Josh, was perfection!

Yelp
I met a group of coworkers here for lunch yesterday at 12:00. I was a few minutes late because I drove around the block twice looking for a parking spot. The parking lot is very small and always full around this time, so I parked down the road, across the street, and in front of someone's house (I felt really guilty). Once I parked and walked in, there were 7 of us in the group and it was only about a 15 minute wait. We took the first available table which was outside on the covered patio. It was nice out there (minus the flies, but there's not much anyone can do about that). Wilson was our waiter and he was 100% on top of it. I never had to ask for a refill and my glass was never less than halfway full. I've never had service like that, so I was extremely pleased. I'm quite the water drinker, so I was amazed how well they kept my glass full! I was impressed! They always have quite a few daily specials to choose from, but I just went with the Dodo Club Sandwich on a toasted bun with the beer cheese soup (they have different soups of the day). My sandwich and soup were delicious! I was pretty full after half a sandwich, so I took it home for lunch today. Just a heads up, my food came out with a slice of cantelope. I was pleasantly surprised, but if you have food allergies, you might want to say something when ordering. Dessert time rolled around and I was too full. Everyone else got dessert and I instantly regretted my decision. Everything looked so good! Their dessert menu changes daily, so be sure to ask what they have...and get something to take home if you're stuffed (which is what I should have done). Great food, amazing service, and a nice atmosphere. I will definitely come back.

George L.

Yelp
Our party of six recently had Sunday brunch seated outside. Once again, the Dodo proved why it is the best brunch location in the state. The atmosphere, cleanliness and service were impeccable. Our food was prepared to perfection. Their Crab Benedict is prepared with fresh ingredients and served hot. Clearly the Dodo cares about providing a quality dining experience. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The atmosphere at The Dodo is warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and a charming ambiance that makes you feel right at home. The staff is friendly and attentive, making you feel like a valued guest from the moment you walk in the door. The outdoor seating is also perfect on a beautiful spring day! You can look out at Sugarhouse park and soak up the sunshine. I started with the baked cream cheese and crackers, it was a great light starter. A few main dishes I really enjoy are the dodo club with the house salad, their house salad is delicious! Try it! The French dip is great and the ravioli on the dinner menu is one of my favorites. They do not have a fryer so nothing is fried and everything tastes fresh. The dessert at The Dodo is the main reason I come. The pie!! They have so many flavors of delicious huge slices of pie, you won't want to miss! My favorite is the banana Carmel pie but the blueberry sour cream is also very good. I have yet to try their brunch but it's next on my agenda, heard great things! Great spot for a quick bite with friends or family or even date night.

Yelp
Was looking for a last minute birthday lunch spot. I'm a foodie. I love great flavor, excellent service and a good vibes. This place hit the mark on everything. SIA was our server and he was the nicest guy, who even let us try the gazpacho before we ordered!! We had the special, steak salad and fish tacos. We ate every bit. So good!!! Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
The Dodo is one of my favorite salt lake restaurants. The dirty bird salad is amazing!!! The toll house pie is a must buy! The muffin for the lunch special. Everything is very delicious and keeps me coming back again and again.
google avatar

Yelp
The host Crispi was super rude and when we asked for a table he was quick to try and dissuade us to not wait for the restaurant. He even told our waitress in front of us to take her time and make us wait. The food was good but not good enough to make up for the rudeness of the host. A little power corrupts.
google avatar

Brandy T.

Yelp
We decided to grab a swift lunch at the Dodo today and it turned out to be an exceptional experience. Despite the bustling crowd, we were promptly seated by Bayli, who greeted us with a warm smile. She efficiently briefed us on the soup of the day and specials, and our drinks were promptly served. We savored a reuben sandwich overflowing with corned beef and a shrimp salad sandwich, both bursting with flavor. Accompanied by sides of cauliflower soup and jalapeno bacon soup, our sandwiches were complemented perfectly. To cap off our meal, we indulged in a heavenly slice of banana cream cheesecake. Without a doubt, we'll be returning for more.
google avatar

Pam B.

Yelp
Been waiting to try DODO. Food wasn't special with hardly any flavor. Ravioli pasta was OK. Shrimp scampi needed more interest. Daughter had beef stroganoff that she didn't care for. Also had Brie and fruit that was mediocre had dry bread, not worth price. Hummus was ordered that no one finished. Spent a lot $$ and will not return. Staff nice, but noisy.

Yelp
We had a large party at the Dodo for dinner and waited for about an hour for the table. Thankfully it was a gorgeous day and we were able to wait outside and enjoy the weather that evening. I thought this restaurant was pretty basic, but very expensive for what you're getting. I had the turkey sandwich with a salad. I would have gotten fries, but it turns out they don't have a fryer! My sandwich was good, but not worth the $30+. Not exactly sure what all the taxes were that was on the bill, but it was a bit excessive. Service was okay, but not amazing. There's a private parking lot, but it was full when I arrived. It's in a residential area, so you shouldn't have any issues finding parking in the area.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! The Food, Service and Ambiance was fantastic. We had the filet mignon and halibut. Both cooked to perfection, with plenty of mashed potatoes and vegetables. Also comes with a choice of soup or salad. And the desserts.....say yes! We brought home the carrot cake and Heath cheesecake. Impeccable. Make sure you stop by the Dodo before leaving SLC.

Yelp
As an establishment for people to enjoy good food, I love The Dodo... but as a vegan, it's hard to find anything I can eat here. If you're vegan, find a restaurant that is transparent and clear about their vegan offerings. This is NOT a vegan-friendly restaurant.

Yelp
I had a great first experience here, and after knowing about it for 10 years, I finally went! The menu is pretty extensive and they have so many specials (I think I counted 9.) This is one of the only places in the Salt Lake area, that I know of, that has multiple daily soups to choose from (there were 5, and they weren't basic soups). The server and server-in-training were highly attentive and our drinks were always replenish before the last one could be fully consumed. I really appreciated the freshness and quality ingredients. The chicken salad sandwhich was made to order and had fresh vegetables. The only downside, which doesn't constitute losing a star from the review, was that it wasn't listed on the menu that cantaloupe was served with each meal, which was only an issue because I am allergic to it. Even though it was busy because of Sunday brunch, the restaurant was very clean and had a relaxing environment. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The parking lot is actually pretty big so it looked crowded but we found a spot easily. Figuring out what was gluten free was a little difficult. There is no gf menu. The waitress said they could make basically anything on the menu gf but then the first two things I asked about could not be made gluten free. I finally picked the special of the day served over rice and I did enjoy it. My friend got a Reuben and he said the salad was good and the sandwich had a bit too much kraut proportionally but still pretty good too. I got the peanut butter pie to go because how can I pass up a gf dessert? The waitress said the crust was Graham crackers but don't worry- it wasn't. It was made of nuts and cinnamon I believe? Very decadent- I could not finish. And I loved sitting on the patio! Hooray for good weather!
