What a lovely little find, we had a great welcome from both staff and fellow diners. The food was delicious, and there was plenty of it. And it's dog friendly too. We will be back!!

What a little gem to find. the dog & muffler. The pub is absolutely stunning both inside & out, the staff were 1st class & the food was exceptional. Asking about the history of the pub, the manager was happy to give us the time to inform us, nothing was too much for him & the barman was very pleasant. Thank you both & the chef for a very pleasant experience, we will definitely return.

Nice pub tucked away at the bottom of a hill – though terrible if you need phone reception! It has a charming country vibe and is always quite busy on Sundays. The garden is great for summer, with views of rolling hills, and the interior is spacious and cosy, with several rooms branching off from the main lobby. The main bar area has a good selection of drinks, with Butty Bach being the highlight – an excellent Wye Valley ale. Prices are standard for the area. The Sunday roast is consistently good and offers great value for money. I’ve had the lamb leg before, and while it’s nice, I feel like having the bone in would be more traditional. The sides are what you’d expect, and the gravy is good too. Overall, it’s probably the best Sunday roast in the area for value and quality, and I always make a point to visit when I’m around the area.

A Hidden Gem for the Whole Family! We stumbled upon the Dog & Muffler Inn while exploring a quaint road and decided to stop as it looked perfect for our family, including Dexter, our dog. We were thrilled to find a welcoming atmosphere, and the garden area was a big hit. Our kids, aged 4 and 5, loved running around, and Dexter had plenty of space too. The lunch was delicious, with hearty portions, and the service was friendly and attentive. A wonderful, family-friendly spot—highly recommended!

Once in a while you have a surprise and this was one of those occasions. It’s one of the best Sunday lunch we have had for a very long time. Looked on Google maps and found the the pub local to us where we were staying. Callled in without a reservation but still managed to get us in 2 adults and a dog they could not be more welcoming I don’t think we have met anyone more accommodating. Before we ordered food a fresh bowl of water and treats for our dog. The food was wonderful so fresh and tasty the manager was easy to talk to and so chatty without being over powering or intrusive. We will be back !

What a little gem! We stayed in the Forest of Dean cabins and, after a few hefty walks, came across this pub after doing a bit of trust advisor research on dog friendly pubs near me. Good range of food options to cater for all, and good hearty sized portions, couple with a few pints of local beer or orchard pig cider. There's also some quite credible non-alcoholic wine that went down a treat with the non-drinker in our party. There is plenty of seating, inside and out. Friendly hospitality team, and your 4 legged friend is also looked after with bowls of water and, if asked, a couple of sausages. My dog gave a 4 out of 4 paws would recommend! Off the main road and situated at the end of a long and narrow lane, the pub has a large car park and open vista.

Yelp
Staying in a local AirBnB we hunted around for a nice pub for an evening meal. Luckily, we came across this, off the beaten track, GEM, The car park was full so we entered with a little trepidation that we wouldn't get a table. The young lady was so helpful but said there would be a wait of about 90 minutes. No problem to us as we then able to have a couple of drinks before hand. So, a TIP. This pub is brilliant so nearly always full. BOOK A TABLE. A few people turned up after us but were told they couldn't be seated. We were so lucky. The food was out of this world with pricing more down to earth. Service could not be beaten by a wonderful staff of young ladies who, luckily for us, had a great sense of humour. They needed it serving us. Lovely pub with an unusual interior décor which went with the area. A really good wine choice for such a small place. Normally it's red, white or rose. Now to knock a member of management. The board showed two dessert wines, which I love. Unfortunately these, at the time, were unavailable because the owner had gone to Spain with the cabinet key, I was told. Sorry, Richard you nearly lost a star. Just joking. Well worth the trek to find this diamond in the Forest of Dean. Trust me, you will love it but, remember, BOOK ahead.

Yelp
Well worth the drive to this pub, would never have known about it unless we'd been told by staff at forest holidays down the beaten track. Smiley Friendly staff definitely worth looking for as it is a lovely country pub with an very comprehensive menu which was all good value. Totally recommend for anyone staying in the area. We stayed at Forest holidays, bracelands drive, and it was only a short drive. Unfortunately neaver had no food but by the looks of the plates they were putting to the table looks lush. Lovely Guinness on tap

Yelp
Great pub based just outside of coleford. They offer a variety of food which is all delicious, its a little on the expensive side but its worth every penny. The staff are friendly, the pub and restaurant are always clean. Also a child friendly pub. I would reconmend this one of the best pubs in the Coleford area especially for food.

Yelp
We came here on a camping weekend in the Forest and after a day's walking and activities. The staff were very welcoming, especially to our border terrier Lucy. The choice of beer was great we loved the Wye Valley Brewery ale. The food was just what we wanted. The kids ate adult portions of scampi and chips which didn't last long. The lasgne was delicious and the turkey, ham and mushroom pie was, in my mind, one of the best I've had in a pub for many years. The children had hot chocolate fudge cake with a bowl of ice cream for pudding. The clean plates were the best compliment. Would strongly recommend it.

Yelp
Privately run Harvester Nothing especially objectionable, but at the same time nothing special. After reading some positive reviews we took a short walk through some fantastic countryside to this pub. The lobby had the feel of an unstaffed hotel. Upon approaching the bar in the restaurant area we were greeted by a cheerful barmaid who served us a tasty perry and a nice local ale. Despite their quality the drinks were from a somewhat limited selection. Upon being seated we were given the Sunday lunch menu, which seemed rather pedestrian. Although disappointed by the limited selection we were hungry and looking forward to a good lunch. The vegetarian butternut squash in a [small] Yorkshire pudding, and roast lamb arrived quickly on a very large plate, with the vegetables on the side. The veggie option was a pre-coked and microwaved Yorkshire pudding filled with an unidentifiable (perhaps cream cheese) filling, the bottom of the Yorkshire was chewy and hard, presumably from being microwaved. The butternut squash was cooked well, but the spinach was clearly unwashed as it was gritty. The generous portion lamb was nice, but swimming in watery gravy. The vegetables let everything down. On the whole they were overcooked, but the chief obviously has a particular hatred of cauliflower, cooking it to slop As other items on the menu came with whipped cream hoping to avoid canned dairy products I was delighted to see that Banoffe pie came with cream. To be disappointed My pie looking, like a chocolate cheesecake arrived accompanied by a portion of nitrous infused cream :( I'm not sure why but the chief decided to used ginger biscuits and a lot of chocolate in his desert, it tasted nothing like it should have. Perhaps chocolate had been added to disguise burnt toffee The bread pudding was noting special, soaked in custard before it arrived. All in all, this pub would be a fine stop for a drink on a walk, but not a place to eat unless your pallet and teeth are failing you!!
