Dogwood Domain

This is a decent bar with a little bit of food. The selection of food is not big but what they have is pretty good. Upstairs is the highlight, though, a rooftop bar that overlooks the domain. It’s a little bit crowded and small, but still a nice place to look around from.

Nice atmosphere, awesome upstairs but the heat is hot. Lol, we had wings and they weren’t bad.

I traveled here on a work outing with some other coworkers. Had a few drinks. The staff were very professional and helpful. There was plenty of seating outside as well as a nice fire.

Came here to party with friends one evening. We headed to the roof top bar and was able to get a great seating area for our party of 8. There was no table service, but we managed to get Chynna at the bar keeping the drinks flowing. A great evening, the table was bussed often of the empty bottles and we enjoyed ourselves. Definitely would come back.

Be veryy cautious using your credit card at this bar. I had an experience where I felt completely taken advantage of. Early in the night, I asked for 3 shots of tequila. A girl nearby, who I casually invited to join, chose the shots — and the bartender served them without disclosing the price or confirming with me, the one paying. It turned out they were the most expensive shots on the menu. Came out to $150 for 3 shots. I’ll admit, I should’ve checked the receipt before signing, but I didn’t — and the bartender seemed to notice that I wasn’t reviewing them carefully. Later in the night, I was given another bill for 3 additional shots I never ordered. I thought I was signing for a one drink whiskey sour. But No one confirmed it with me, but the charge was put on my tab anyway. Because I signed, the bank can’t help me dispute it. Yes I didn’t double-check because I had confidence I was paying for only the drinks I ordered. but I also believe it’s unethical for a bartender to add pricey items to a bill without confirming with the person paying — especially when others are involved. This felt intentional, and like I was taken advantage of. At this point, my only option may be small claims court to get a judge’s opinion on what happened. Bottom line: watch your tab carefully and don’t trust this bar with your card. You might end up paying for things you never asked for.

The atmosphere was great but one of the downstairs bartenders was a bit rude and slow. We found the bar upstairs and Maliyah was killing it. We continued to go up to her for service the remainder of the night. Dogwood you need to give this girl the best shifts! She clearly is killing customer service. She’s fast, kind, and knowledgeable!

Ray Ray was the shit made the best drinks and made the atmosphere amazing 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 definitely come and visit her!

Has great potential but it was just too darn loud. My ears were hurting after about 45 min here, had to leave. Had a decent margarita, was a bit too sweet. Drinks are reasonably priced.

So me BFF needed to get out of the house and we revisited one of our favorite spots for breakfast. As usual we had a good time and it was a beautiful day to sit on the patio. We normally sit upstairs, but today we sat downstairs in the front. The food was really good. Some of the food was a little overseas, but it worked out overall. Let me tell you about this raspberry mimosa though. It was so good and it actually hung around in my system for quite a few hours. Good ups to the new drink or maybe it's just new to me.

Stopped by to watch the NBA game. Went to the second floor nice view of the street in Domain area. We had bar food, wings and chicken nuggets and tater tots. Sat at the bar. Recommend this place to watch sports. Place was clean as well as the restrooms.

Wanted to stop in here for a quick snack/ lunch after wandering around and shopping. Servers were really nice and they let us go upstairs a bit before it opened ( we were being annoying but we wanted to sit in the sun) anyways we all got drinks and such. Seems like a good place to come at night if your looking for be social. We did order some food to snack on but good lord were they salty. I feel like I eat a lot of salt but the wings and stuff down here was a literally salt bomb. Would not order food here because if you're drinking, you'll definitely be bloated haha.

Pretty standard for a bar. Upstairs and downstairs seating. Plenty of tvs. Limited food menu, but the wagyu slides are legit. Good spot for a quick drink and a chat with a friend.

My job recently had a happy hour here and it turned out great! The food was very good! They have this platter with sliders, mozzarella bites, popcorn chicken, and tater tots. That is amazing! the vegetable platter with hummus was also good and the salsa was perfectly spiced! I had a great old-fashioned and whiskey sour! I love when the bartender asks you what type of liquor you like your drink! The bartenders and servers were amazing attending to not only us, but those in the bar not a part of our happy hour! The music definitely could be better, but we were there on a Tuesday around 5 o'clock, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since I've been there on a Saturday night where the rooftop is slapping! The bathrooms are really nice and clean and I love the mirror on the outside of the building. The layout is really cool as they do have a rooftop area.

It's a Wednesday night, it's cold for Texas, and on top of that it's raining. But there is a pretty good turn out for the Dogwood in the domain. I've been in the past, wasn't impressed the first time but I think I enjoy how unassuming the bar is. It's not a club right now, it's not trying to be. It's just here to give you a place to hang out and watch basketball.

Visited on a weekend day after lunch and it was very empty. The service was good. There's a variety of places to sit and stand indoor and outdoor! Drinks were good, and they had several games to pass the time! The bathrooms, tables, and chairs were clean

Dogwood is always a solid choice! I've been to locations in Houston and Austin. It's a move. Laid back place, great to go for a drink or two or to go watch a game. Friendly staff and quick service. Will continue to return!

Great location, Good food and fantastic service. Tator tots were on point and the Chicken and Waffles were a perfect balance of savory and sweet.

Some friends and I went here for happy hour and had a great time! I only ordered the Cajun Chicken Fritters, which came with ranch and gravy, and it was actually really good and above bar-food quality. My 2 of my friends said their cocktails were average but I didn't get any drinks myself so I can't add to that. Staff were friendly enough and the bar area had big screens to watch games as well as heating lamps. I had a pretty good time here and would go back.

Delightful bartender, dogs loved here, I was upstairs and it's over a 100 at 4pm in late July, yet most of upstairs, while outside, is shaded and has fans w misters blasting...it's quite comfy all considered. Good music to kik bak 2 and nice side stop walkin the dogs. The food looked great--Ill come bak when hungry for those mac n cheese variatiins and tacos. The brunch specials online look great. Happy to have stopped by.

Went in a few times but the last time I went with my friends in town, this creepy bartender was normal at first then asking me for my number, what turns me on and I was trying to ignore him. He then asked if I had a bf and I said YES! after that he got nasty, ignored us and noticed our bills had at least $20 more in charges of drinks. I've dealt with my share of weird bartenders but was disgusted. Go to a female bartender if he happens to be yours!

Dogwood is one of my favorite places to go in the domain. I like their rooftop vibe and how open it is. They also have an entertainment/media room with a bunch of TVS so it's a perfect place to go when you want to watch sports game. I also want to say the wings are BOMB!!!! I was truly impressed since I consider myself a chicken wing connoisseur lol. The drinks are pretty strong and on top of that, service is fairly fast. I always find myself here on the weekends because it's just the place to be! 10/10 recommend!!!

Dogwood is still probably one of my favorite places to go on Rock Rose. Environment: Calmer vibe then most the bars on rock road. Still gets busy but it has a open concept, so you don't feel as crowded. Drinks: full bar but small draft beer selection. Staff: They aren't extremely attentive here but I've never had a bad experience.

The new staff here absolutely sucks. I was there on Friday night and had two white claws and the bouncer at the door wouldn't let me in because I tripped. I told him it was only because I was wearing heels and he still didn't let me in. He was a tall blonde white guy. Definitely will not be back I think it was just cause he was discriminating against me and my friends.

Went with Hubby to check it out and watch Austin FC game. Walked in early to get seats, sat at the bar. It wasn't full but was great to get started. Unfortunately, the two bartenders ignored us. We waited, to see if someone would say hi something. 10 minutes waiting no one said anything Then finally see bartenders they both go to guy next to us. Get his tab, but again totally ignore us. They went from him to talk to other customers. Not service just talk! Awful awful experience! We ended walking out without being served or acknowledged. Went next door, much better service! Don't go there. Go next door. Will never go back. I don't understand how you ignore customers!

Awesome bar, I stuck with jack and cokes (and one bourbon) house makers mark. Food snack spreads were nice everything from fried chicken bites, sliders, chips etc. live music was great! Rooftop bar is where it's at- easy to get crowded though, so I really liked the lounge seat area.

Love coming here for happy hour or just needing somewhere dog friendly to work from! They had a great Saint Patrick's Day theme going.

My husband and I stopped at this bro convention bar apparently called The dogwood. We decided to go upstairs and a guy was checking IDs of the young group in front of us. We proceed to walk upstairs and the ID checker asked my husband "are you trying to be slick? I need to see your ID" wtf? My husband let this kid know that no he wasn't being slick but he is over 21 twice over. He could be his dad! Lol That didn't make him happy but he did let us upstairs. My husband was very irritated by that kid so we stayed for one drink. While having our drink we could get a nice view of the street where we saw a motorcycle cop messing with his bike and his helmet came crashing down. Also the drinks here were more expensive compared to some of the other bars. The rest of the scene upstairs was bros and girls in tiny outfits. I will pass next time

My experience at dogwood was a mediocre one. They do have a great patio and a rooftop that overlooks rock rose with a great view. The staff wasn't really attentive to us though we had to go out of our way to order drinks. Also the QR code at the table wasn't working as well. The drinks were good and the environment is a little bit more chill and an older crowd too.

I went here on a Wednesday night, not super busy given it was a week day. That being said, service at the bar was VERY slow. The bartenders seemed to have their favorites that they would continue chit chatting with and helping before even acknowledging new customers such as myself and a few others I chatted with while waiting. When I was acknowledged the bartender was very condescending. Ultimately, I stuck around for that one over priced drink and bad service and then left.

The bartenders don't give you any time to pick a drink whenever someone starts to fight with me . They blame it on me even though he asked me what I was looking at the decorations and then I become the bad guy. This is absolutely ridiculous. I will never go back to this place again in my life and I recommend the same for everyone else and the bouncer up there's job is so fucking bad that he was asleep when we walked in. He didn't even check our IDs because he's passed out in his chair doing a wonderful job which I guarantee the legal in the state of Texas or any other state, but no, I'm the problem. So have fun with the Better business bureau because obviously your your bouncer didn't even check IDs so there's probably miners in there so we'll see what the Better Business Bureau thinks about that and I'll be sure to buy there on a regular basis to make sure that this business gets shut down because of how shitty y'all treat us customers who do nothing except for give y'all money so have a wonderful business maybe our shovel looked at the cameras first and seen where the whole situation started and instead of blaming me a pain customer who did nothing except for stand up for myself but instead, you rather treat me like shit so have a wonderful day

Love the upstairs patio. Bar food and drinks are always good. Nachos and chicken wings are my favorite. Sunday mimosas are delicious. Music on point.

I want to give a huge shoutout to Keegan (sp?), the bartender upstairs. I had an unfortunate encounter with a male patron who touched me inappropriately (these were people from out of town that my friend invited to the area). He overheard me and my friend talking about it after we had walked away and instead of ignoring it he immediately said "who do I need to kick out". It's important as a female to be at a bar where you feel like the bartenders are looking out for you! He also made us some great spicy tequila shots afterwards - that experience was long forgotten after that! Thank you!

I'll never step foot in this place. The drinks were horrible(served in a plastic glass and tasted bitter) and food was tasteless. We're given small bite size plate and that had dirt and hair on it. No welcoming gesture from the waitress or the bartender.

Lifetime members were all meeting there for lunch so we decided to join them... We got there and this is the service my friends and I received... My friends and I waited and WAITED (15 mins, it wasn't busy)!! First bartender was on her cell the entire time (yea, texting), the other girl (I dK what she was doing but she was there n then disappeared), the last bartender was this dude... no smiles, no hello, and just a lot of "no, I don't want to be here either", energy. When I asked calmly and politely if we could order, his response was, "When I am done!" Oh no, u did not just say that!!! We all lost our appetites from that cocky and rude response! Ultimately, we quickly said our goodbyes to our new friends and athletes... Immediately, we rushed over to Blue Sushi Sake Grill where the service is kind and friendly, not to mention the food, yum!! *I want to give ZERO stars for this review but... It won't let me post unless I do! Urgh.

It was good but crowded. Great for a bit younger crowd. Food was good and the service was actually really good but we had to order our food from the bar. Not that bid a problem. I would go back

I never thought I would order food at a bar, yet here we are and surprisingly, it wasn't too bad. If I had to choose a bar on Rock Rose Ave, Dogwood is it. Dogwood is spacious (2 stories, outdoor seating), has 3 bars (2 downstairs, 1 up), and the food is actually savory! I like to order off of the "Hangover Menu" by grabbing 2 Potato Breakfast Tacos and the Texas-Sized Mimosa. The Texas-Sized Mimosa stays true to it's name, it's full of champagne with a little bit of OJ. If you aren't a mimosa drinker, try the Waterloo Classic, which is a true Austin cocktail. It's served with Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka, Watermelon Waterloo Sparkling Water, liqueur, and a squeeze of lime. Super refreshing for these hot sunny days!

Came in with some coworkers for a happy hour. We spent a couple hours drinking and hanging out. I was absolutely fine, barely on the verge of being tipsy. I was standing in front of my fiancé and leaned back on him. Definitely wasn't falling or acting wild and a bartender came up and told me to leave. It made zero sense. I wasn't doing anything except standing there. I guess you aren't allowed to lean on your fiancé here. I've been here many times and won't ever be back. I've never been tested so unnecessarily rude in all my life.

Bouncer denied me (22M) access because my drivers license's from PA has "not for real ID purposes" which is common. Was non-cooperative and rude. Would not scan the ID and I missed an event because of it.

I liked this spot! It's in the Domain in Austin & our bartender Trae was great! I asked for tequila and a splash of pineapple and I promise he was the only one who understood a "splash" . Me and my s/o only tried the the chips and queso but it was pretty good! It definitely give chili cheese vibes if you like that kind of thing! I would suggest hitting the happy hour M-F if you want to drink and mingle!

This place is always good to hang out and catch up game, no matter the season. Beautiful rooftop view of the domain and multiple bars so not much of a wait to get a drink--during the day. Nightlife is a different story and most of the time be crowded. The crowd is generally young professionals but in recent days have brought in a younger crowd. The music is good and if you're hungry you can definitely grab a bite as well.

This place really facilitates many different vibes and it's easy to move around and find the perfect spot. Usually start Sunday Fundays here as they have a breakfast/brunch menu, check out the Texas sized mimosa if that's your thing. We usually go upstairs to enjoy the sunshine and no matter where you choose, upstairs or downstairs there's abundant tv's which is great during football season. Tried several dishes off the menu and haven't had a bad dish yet. It's a great starting point for a day and at night they usually have a DJ downstairs on certain nights.

I love the Domain. And the Dogwood is just another really awesome bar to come to. It's 2 floors, the top is open rooftop and the music is vibing. Great place to come with friends and meet new ones.

If it wasn't so gosh darn hot this place would have been really really cool! There are a couple of spots here to enjoy outside... a small bar as you come in and an upstairs rooftop patio. But when it's 109 outside I find it best to drink in the air conditioning lest I just might melt! Have no fear... the main floor, big bar area, has all the comforts of modern air and a great drink menu as well! My wife and I stopped in, in between spots, on our night out with no kids, and decided that we wanted a drink. The only thing was that were were not allowed to have something we would normally have... we decided we had to go outside our comfort zone. My wife had the Amber Sunrise... a mix of sailer Jerry's rum, flor de cana rum, fresh lime, passion fruit juice, and champagne. I had the Summer Porch Swing... made with vodka not tequila (as those of you know I have an allergic reaction to tequila... I break out in handcuffs!) st Germaine liqueur, muddled cucumber and jalapeño, fresh lime and club soda. Both drinks were fantastic! However the Amber Sunrise was outstanding! Refreshing and beautiful with an orchid for garnish. The bartender was awesome... the location was cool, and I really liked the atmosphere. Winner winner! We will be back!

I really enjoy the vibe of dogwood, it's a staple of the domain. However when I went on 09/18/2021, I opened and closed two tabs and the receipts for those transactions did not match what was taken from my bank account. Dogwood collected over $20 more than the cost of my drinks and 20% tip. I tried calling them to sort it out, but no one answered (I tried three times, twice right at their 3PM open and once at 6:30PM). So I tried to select to leave a voicemail (their only option), and it was conveniently full ‍ The error made it passed both the bartender, Joseph C, and the manager who reviews their financials. It really sucks that their error (or fraud) is causing me to do all this extra work. If I can get them to respond to the email I sent 09/22 and am refunded, I'll remove my post, but if not, this 1 star review stands.

Dogwood is DOG WATER! Bartender at a SPORTS BAR said "I don't watch sports because I don't need to learn useless information" You are a bartender bro, the USEFUL information you possess clearly doesn't matter either. I'm just trying to watch football man, I didn't ask for your opinion of the NFL while I was trying to watch. Worst service ever from a bar staff, but don't take my word for it, just read the other reviews. I have to assume the 5 star reviews are paid for or part of some promotion. All the 1 star reviews seem to align with the same experience I had here with no response from the bar itself. What a shocker. Mostly the atmosphere (being able to bring your dog) and the food was decent/good, but nothing left a worst taste in my mouth than the bartender. Hey Dogwood, he's literally LOSING you money that could've been spent here instead of us leaving due to the annoying bartender. (12/17/23 - 1-3pm)

Horrible service upfront doesn't matter if your are black, mixed or white.... the skinny bouncer or door guy has a power trip. He is rude, no customer service and no professionalism. I suggest anyone thinking about going here to pick another bar if you want good service and to enjoy your night.

Tl;dr if you're here because a friend dragged you along, grab a beer and nachos. Otherwise, find somewhere else on Rock Rose for your happy hour. Well, if I would have checked Dogwood's Yelp reviews before going to lunch today, I would have either lowered my expectations or maybe taken a pass. However, my partner and I decided to give Dogwood a shot, since I had enjoyed a good cocktail here a few months back. Today, there were no good cocktails to be had. My partner's drink tasted like tequila and water, and mine (Violet Rose, I believe) was not quite what I expected from the description (gin, Rosé & blueberries). It tasted artificial and overpowering. While we were unimpressed by the drinks, our chicken nachos pulled through and earned Dogwood three stars. They were large enough to share, the toppings were plentiful, and the chicken was delicious. Overall really yummy! Also, our waitress was friendly and didn't charge my partner for the cocktail that she didn't drink. However, we did order sweet potato tots that never arrived - but we weren't charged for those either. I'm sure if we would have asked the waitress again she would have quickly resolved the issue, but we were full of nachos so we didn't pursue it.

Pretty cool place. This one is more my speed for a rooftop bar than the nearby 77 Degrees Rooftop Bar (no offense to those that prefer that atmosphere). For those of you not willing to brave the outdoor elements, they have a spacious bar and seating area downstairs and it is inside. The Dogwood just seems more down to earth and has a more casual and laid-back vibe to it - plus, they have a good assortment of local microbrews on tap! They also have a full bar if that is what you are into. Staff is VFAF (Very Fun, Accommodating and Friendly). Yes, that's right, I just coined my own acronym. Feel free to use it amongst yourselves. I have a feeling this one is going to be trending on Twitter before you know it, so get in on the ground floor my peeps. $5 happy hour food specials from 4p to 7p M-F (see my photo for the current listing). They also have the typical bar fare; wings, burgers, salads, etc.

While in town, my friend and I went out looking for a bite, a drink and ESPN. We had decided to head out for the Domain and try our luck with one of these hip cool joints popping up all over. And as we walked by we noticed how cool the second floor patio bar looked. So we checked with the doorman and we were told that the establishment did, indeed, have ESPN so we made our way to the second floor. The bar was crowded but we managed to find two seats directly in front of the television showing ESPN. We ordered our drinks and quenched our thirst with your draft. The beer was nothing to write home about so we ordered their special Dogwood burger. The menu description sounded amazing. My friend ordered and I asked for one but cooked medium. About fifteen minute later our burgers were served with a side of fries. But something was wrong. I could tell the burger patty didn't look right. I cut the burger in half and saw it was well done. Hmmmmm Average beer. Order not right...it hurts me to give them two stars. I had such high hopes. The bartender had to go off and find out how to deal with my complaint. She returned a little while later and offered to redo my hamburger but I declined the offer.

We went to Dogwood on a Friday and Saturday night. Friday wasn't as crowded or the music wasn't as good as Saturday night. Although I had a good time both nights, Saturday had a more upbeat energy. Located in the heart of the Domain, this is one of the spots to go to if you want to dance and have a couple of drinks. I'm sure all of my friends had a great time on Saturday. There is a DJ and he will play whatever you like and there are two bars on the first floor so there was no waiting to get drinks. There is a second floor also and I briefly wet up to check it out. There is a large bar and it seems that it is somewhat of an open air feeling. Both upstairs and downstairs were crowded this night. This seems like one of the places to be on a Saturday night!

Thursday evening, happy hour team meetup. A group of us from work met here for happy hour. We chose the patio, so that we had ample seating. We were told that there would be no server on the patio and that we would have to go to the bar to order. Very inconvenient. The bartenders were not attentive, not very friendly or helpful. Call me crazy, but aren't those attributes important, especially if you are working for tips??? I ordered a drink and some appetizers for the group. They were delivered to the patio pretty quickly. Sweet potato tots were ok, just ok. The dip trio was good. Anywho, to top off the icing on the cake, one of our teammates was turned away at the front door because she had her child with her. She was not allowed to bring the baby out to the patio to hang with us, even if she was ordering food, etc.... When this happened, we chugged down the drinks and left. Pros: location and good for singles to hang out at the bar. Cons: everything else. Will not be back and that is ok with me :)

Hands down!! This place wins the award for "The Most Unfriendly Bartenders in Austin!!!" I was there on a Wednseday evening with a buddy of mine. I felt like I had invisible cream on me! 2 bartenders with a VERY small group of customers at the downstairs bar. The bartenders were far more interested in talking to each other than helping customers. When I finally got them to notice that there were customers in the bar, No "hello", No "how are you?" Honestly, it was like they were doing us a favor for acknowledging our existance. On top of that we overheard them telling another customer that they had no red wine of any kind. What kind of bar is out of a simple red wine??? These 2 bartenders, one female and one male, should have NEVER been hired. I blame the management and especially the ownership. Absolutely ZERO interpersonal skills whatsoever. I will NEVER return this place. Absolutely horrible experience and I have told many of friends about my experience and they confirm the same type of treatment. New management has never been needed more! Update: It's been a little over 2 weeks and not one person from The Dogwood has cared enough to even respond to this absolutely horrible experience. It could not be more obvious that the management and ownership could care less about the customer experience. Avoid this place like the plague! On top of all of the disappointment that this place offers, a work friend of mine said that he and his son had air conditioning condensation drip from above onto their food at the bar. I believe the health department would love to know about this...

I'm so happy this place is close to my residence! Every time I come here the Bartenders are nice and helpful. Good music. I ordered the shrimp tacos this last time and was not disappointed at all, super delicious. Upstairs and downstairs have not disappointed me and I am happy to be walking distance to this place where I will probably become a "regular" :).

Love this place! The only bar I come to in the area cause of the good vibe. The bartenders are great! Always try to come when Steven and Dino are working! They make great drinks and bring us the best experience. If you're looking for a good bar, good music, good bartenders, this is the place to go.
