"The grand dame of Zurich, this Old World-made-modern hotel is the spot where well-heeled visitors roll up for a buzzy bar, serious wellness, and panoramic views of the city below. This isn’t a walkable heart-of-the-city type of spot. Rooms in the historic building go a bit cozier, with pops of tangerine and patterns, though there's a minimalism across all of the rooms with lots of ivory and dark wood details. In the new wings, though, expect a sleeker feel brought on by chrome details and white leather. If you don't visit the spa, you've really wasted a visit to the Dolder Grand. It's 4,000 square meters for starters, and you'll find a sauna, steam bath, foot bath, aroma pool, steam pots, plunge pool, snow room, and even an outdoor terrace. Look up as your car pulls into the drive—there’s a moment where it feels like you might fall off the edge of the world, in a fantastic way." - Stacey Lastoe

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) In David Fincher’s adaptation of the Swedish blockbuster novel, leather-clad savant Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) is an unlikely guest at this hilltop fairytale castle of a hotel. Built in 1899 as a woodland retreat, it was extended over the decades until a rebuilding project in 2004 twinned the turrets with a super-modern glass-fronted circular annex. Lisbeth was in the top-end Masina Suite, which comes with butler service and a very fine view of Lake Zurich."

"Perched above Lake Zurich, The Dolder Grand is the recommended place to sleep off a chocolate-fueled day in Zurich and enjoy genuine Swiss-chalet-style luxury." - Travel + Leisure Staff

"Originally opened as a kurhaus in 1899 and dramatically reimagined with contemporary wings by Norman Foster in 2008, this landmark lakeside resort pairs historic, traditionally decorated rooms in the main building with ultra-modern marble-clad rooms in the new wing. The hotel is noted for an impressive permanent art collection and a Michelin two-starred restaurant where creative dishes pair game and alpine ingredients with refined desserts. The large wellness offering—about 43,000 sq ft—echoes its health-resort origins with a gym, mind-and-body studio, 17 treatment rooms, a center for medical procedures, diverse thermal experiences (saunas, steam baths, aroma pools), kotatsu footbaths and heated pebble beds designed to soothe and restore." - Adam H. Graham
"The Dolder Grand, a majestic castle hotel perched atop Adlisberg Hill, adorned with more than 100 works of art." - Taryn White
