I highly recommend that you do NOT stay at this hotel. It is the first time that I have written a negative review about any hotel, restaurant, etc. The hotel made a mistake in booking one of my rooms under my husband's name, then when we arrived did not include that room in our booking and told us they were sold out without identifying we actually had a 4th room. Then, when I figured that out a month and a half later when both my son and I got billed for rooms, they refused to take any responsibility and billed me for a 4th room that we had no access to when we went. No customer service. Everything was my fault even though they had no evidence of that. They gained extra hundreds of dollars. My loss of hundreds of dollars and my strong recommendation not to use this hotel. Despite multiple trips to Charlottesville I will not personally make a reservation here again.

We had heard great things about this hotel but were not impressed when finally booking there. We reserved a suite-beds were very uncomfortable, especially the sofa bed, however, they did bring up a few extra blankets, (that looked ancient) to soften the feel of the springs, website says free breakfast but that's incorrect, shower water temp was hot then cold/ hot then cold, valet service was really bad 80% of the time (but a couple of the guys were good!) and we had a terrible experience at the restaurant downstairs. Food was just not that good (esp for the $$, and service was really poor! The only good thing about this hotel is their location. Location is great. And safety was good. I had stayed at the Kimpton Forum hotel in C-ville 2 wks prior and everything was incredible at that hotel! It's beautiful! I will definitely try to stay there every time!! Was sorry to say that the Draftsman was a very unexpected let-down. ..... The front desk service and room cleaning was great!!!!!!

This is a good hotel option, especially because you’re in the middle of downtown Charlottesville. It was walking distance from chops and restaurants, as well as from the center of the main campus of the University of Virginia. The hotel itself is relatively small with the number of nice amenities, including a pretty good restaurant downstairs. Service is good overall and if you’re parking a car valet is not a bad option as it’s quick and easy. I would definitely recommend if you were looking to stay downtown virtually on campus..

Stayed for a few days while visiting UVA. The service was excellent and everyone was very nice. The only parking is valet and the driveway is small, so it can get backed up at busy times. Plan ahead to retrieve your vehicle - they do have a cool text-based system that allows for you to request it. The rooms were comfortable and quiet (I was on the 10th floor), even with it being right next to the hospital. The location is terrific, close to Central Grounds, lots of restaurants, and the Downtown Mall. I'd definitely stay again.

Super disappointed in this hotel :( stayed here for a few nights on a business trip recently and was very underwhelmed. I normally stay at the Graduate across the street which is half the price, so was expecting somewhat of a luxury experience here. My trip began with valet service, which is the only option for parking. Upon my arrival, the garage was full and I had to park my car in front of the hotel on the sidewalk blocking a garage per staff instructions (still was charged $25 for garage parking even though my car was basically in the middle of the main road.) I was woken up to a call from the front desk the next morning telling me they needed my car moved ASAP, so I was rushed out to accommodate their lack of planning. My total charge for parking was $75 for 3 nights despite one night being parked on a sidewalk and the other 2 nights having to self-park in the garage due to my phone key being electronic. The hotel room itself was comparable to the Graduate-- nice but nothing fancy, not anywhere near worth $250/night. Finally, my last night at the hotel I returned late from work and was greeted by my key fob not working. I returned to the front desk, where the attendant said "I was expecting you to come back down" (?) He then informed me that my corporate card had declined for the final night of the stay and I was not allowed access to my room until I paid. Valid, but I was incredibly confused as to why the front desk was aware of this issue and failed to contact me throughout the entire day to remediate it (I got back at 9 PM.) Upon informing him that I had been having issues with my card throughout the trip and was unable to resolve them at this hour, I would rather collect my belongings from the room and check out early than put this costly stay on my personal card. The attendant told me I could not retrieve my belongings from the room without paying for another full night's stay, regardless of whether or not I wanted to stay the night. I was then forced to pay almost $400 after incidentals out of pocket just to get my own stuff out of the room. This was extremely unprofessional given their failure to contact me the entire day informing me of the issue. The general manager was helpful but my issue wasn't "resolved" until nearly 2 weeks after my stay. I was refunded half of the cost of one night. Regardless, I would recommend the Graduate 10/10 times over this hotel.

Very nice hotel, good location! The staff are really nice. The rooms are super nice, and the bed is perfect. The bathroom is beautiful. They provided a beautiful decoration for our first night as husband and wife (with my wife).

Amazing central location near UVA, great rooms and close to so many cute restaurants. The standout feature was the staff and valet who were so kind and accommodating!
