"Built in 1962 as an outpost of the celebrated Drake Hotel on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue, the Drake Oak Brook has always been such a trendsetter that it has attracted the likes of Frank Sinatra, Prince Charles, and Arnold Palmer deep into the Chicagoland ‘burbs over its six decades. There’s a masculine, mid-century edge to the newly renovated guest rooms, many of which feature herringbone oak-wood floors and well-stocked bar carts. The Colonial Room restaurant offers high tea in the afternoons and a menu of unmistakably retro dishes come dinnertime, from wedge salads to shrimp cocktail. And you could almost imagine Ol’ Blue Eyes himself slumping into one of the fireside leather chairs at the Polo Lounge and ordering a signature Drake Manhattan."

Yelp
Igloo Dining: 10/10 experience! Came here for a friend's birthday and it was so much fun! The staff in the lobby were friendly and so was the waitstaff. Our waitress was even kind enough to go through different items on the menu to help us with our indecisiveness! Food was delicious and so were the drinks. The ambiance is so nice and I liked how they played music. Even though it was a cold day, the igloo was warm and there were little windows to open if it got too warm inside. It was a nice place to hangout with friends and I would definitely come back here in the future!

Yelp
Came for high tea on a weekend. Be prepared to spend a lot of time here. It is so slow paced you could read a whole book in the time this took. And why? They put all the foods on the three tiered tower at once. So it isn't like they split between savoury and sweet like other places? The delay in getting a check was literally a half an hour from the last time anyone came around. And the tables they cram in here are just too small to accommodate all the things that need to be on them. Food is a meh. Tea is great. The sandwiches are nothing special and the pastries are awful. So dry all across the board on the sweets and nothing impressive. For $55 a person I expect more.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience dining in an igloo for a girls night out. Despite the cold gloomy day, it was toasty warm in our igloo! Our server, Mary (receipt said Maria though), was amazing and so attentive. Food and drinks came out pretty promptly, considering how far the staff had to come to bring it out to the outdoor igloos, so we were very appreciative of each person who delivered items, as they were so friendly! After dinner, we went to the lounge/bar area for another drink and Rigo made our time there so fun and memorable! Kudos to everyone on the team for a great experience, they were professional, knowledgeable, but with so much personality that it was a night to remember!

Yelp
This was a great experience. The location is awesome as well to get to the city and to the airport in no time. We were able to get into our room early with friendly staff waiting on us. The only thing I didn't like as those Cicadas lol and the internet was a bit weak since we stayed in a corner room. Other than that we will be back her again.

Yelp
This review is for the Sunday brunch. I enjoyed most of the food offerings, and the service was excellent. However, some of the hot food choices weren't hot enough, and some of the cold food choices weren't cold enough. The price just keeps going up and up. What was $65 per person before became $80, and now it's $120. It will soon price me out of my budget for attending.

Yelp
This review is for the igloo dining. The concept is very appealing, and the igloos are a good size to hold up to a party of 6 comfortably. Although the food was very good, the service was lacking - I never received my second drink with dinner. The igloo itself was very chilly. They had one small heater in the igloo, and we all kept our coats on and were very cold. It was 34 degrees outside with no wind. If it were any colder, it would be unbearable. Having done it once, I'm glad we had the experience, but I would not choose to do it again.

Yelp
We had a lovely stay at The Drake. A bit of a snafu at the beginning as the automated lock on the door has powered down without battery and it took several trips back and forth to the front desk along with a 30 minute wait for it to be fixed but they were so diligent and worked so quickly to get us in our room. The staff were all wonderful. Our room was gorgeous too. We were in the newly renovated building. Breakfast came with our room rate and we couldn't have been more pleased. We would highly recommend The Drake should you find yourself in the area needing a stay at a hotel.

Yelp
This review is for the Sunday Champagne Brunch at the Drake Hotel, Oakbrook. Service: The service was great. We were seated right away as we had a reservation. We were greeted by the waiter the moment we sat down. She kept our table free from dirty plates, promptly brought water, coffee and mimosas when needed. Food: I'm giving the food 3 stars. Some of the hot food was room temperature. It was mostly the meat selection. The omelette station was nice and allowed for you to choose from a handful of ingredients. The waffles had a nice crisp to them and the seafood was fresh. Cost: This brunch is $65pp. I believe this is overpriced as there should of been more variety of food options, warmer food and some of the items were a bit bland in taste.

Yelp
Had a great brunch in the flower room with attentive staff and omelet bar with two cooks. The charm of the hotel is like stepping back in time to the roaring 20s with Al the modern amenities of the 20th century

Yelp
Karina at the front desk was so helpful in processing my gift card. I appreciate her patience. I stayed again this week but when I went to check out at 6:25 am, there was no one at the desk, so I was unable to use my gift card to pay for my room. Room was close to $300 which is more than I typically pay, but was very nice. Beautiful property. Clean. Quiet. Cozy bed and posh showers. Plenty of free parking. I'll stay again.

Yelp
Well this certainly was a great treat for thanksgiving. My sister friend treated us to this buffet style feast at the Drake. Food was delicious. So despite having regular turkey because my sister doesn't like turkey we went here because they had seafood they had veal they had leg of lamb and they also had Spanish cured salmon from tapas. I don't know how much she spent but I do recommend if you have next year for Thanksgiving and don't like turkey and want something different for a change do come here.. food was good but it's hard to rate this as a five-star since I've had better as an individual entrees versus buffet style but it's good and probably the best thing if you don't feel like cooking for Thanksgiving

Yelp
Not sure what Conde Nast was smoking when they handed out the top rated award to this property. A quality and historic Chicago brand expanded to Oak Brook by the Marriot Autograph collection. Had high expectations for so many reasons: having status with marriot, coming to an autograph collection (especially the Drake), and knowing that my buddy dropped ridiculous levels of money for his event. My expectations weren't met with any level of satisfaction. Simply put, I have spent less money for way more quality. My experience started with a wedding coordinator named Melissa. She was quick to point out that the groom was tardy. In request of a very simple accommodation, she shot down requests that were very much within the realm of appropriate. She is clearly under the impression that the money spent here is Monopoly money. I tried to check in at my designated check-in time to find out my room was not available. I was told I would receive a phone call within a certain amount of time to follow up. Nope, I had to call. When we finally got in the room, it was small and unaccomadating. The room had a moldy scent and amenities that were missing (no blow dryer). I had to call three times to get it there two hours later. We were offered accommodations in the way of a free cocktail and breakfast. I decided to let it go and just move forward. But, oh wait, the vouchers offered were significantly lower than the cost of menu items. A $10 breakfast coupon for an average of $15 breakfast. Similar for the drink vouchers. Come the next day, I come in to check in and assure all is running well. Same mistake for other guests: even at 530 pm - the rooms aren't ready and, furthermore, folks are being downgraded. I filled out a form sharing my disappointment only to receive an empty, half-hearted respons3 from management. This was the easiest one star review I have ever written on Yelp. Get less arrogant and get your act together.

Yelp
Went last Sunday (9/24), had I known the venue was in a meeting room I would have gone elsewhere. For the amount they charge the ambiance could have been better. The food was okay, when I think of the Drake I'm expecting greatness. The roast at the carving station was bland and cold. Dessert table cakes were dry! Mimosas were not flowing, we had to flag down a server. The staff was friendly and helpful. The show stopper was the magician, he was very entertaining! I felt the step up was an after thought, the hallway leading to the room was misleading (beautiful flowers, lights, chandeliers)

Yelp
This is my favorite special occasion place to go for a special occasion. Their château Briand is the best. Their presentation is beautiful. Love it!

Ashley H.

Yelp
Went to brunch yesterday and it was amazing. The food was great with a lot of choices and my glass was never empty. Even when I wanted something different then orange juice Maria brought out cranberry. The pasta and omelet station were my favorite and I felt like I went back and fourth at least 8 times. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
So I stayed here a few years back pre-Marriott and loved the charm of the hotel and great service received. This 3 night stay did not disappoint and I must say the refurbished rooms are lovely and and incredibly comfortable. Charm and historic vibes still here along with the fantastic and friendly service.

Yelp
Lovely Easter buffet. Not many salad choices but other than that it was great. Server could have come over more often to refill coffee and iced/hot tea. It was busy but not prime time. We were there around 1 to end of buffet at 3. Started at 9. A bit pricey but nice. I have been at other similar buffets.

Yelp
Relative to the downtown location this place had a lot of opportunity to do better. They have plug in mismatched space heaters on the ground when you walk in and you see a broken gingerbread house that is made as a replica of the hotel. We sat out in the igloo and the experience was odd. Service very slow and they forgot to bring half of our order so 2 people sat and watched everyone eat and then we got them to go bags. The hotel made it right by giving us a discount and the manager apologizing. Overall weird experience.

Yelp
I chose the Drake hotel as a celebratory spot for my birthday. We had a pleasant stay with a near perfect experience. With the recent upgrades, the owners of the Drake Oak Brook upped the ante with the renovations. The rooms are modern and stylish. The room upgrades are a far cry from what they looked like. They take covid precautions seriously with mask signage in the lobby and hallways. I appreciate the hand sanitizer stations on every floor. Housekeeping does an excellent job cleaning the place. When I went down to the gym to do a morning workout, minutes later they already had staff onsite cleaning equipment. The extra masks in our room were a nice add on too. I was excited for the outdoor pool to open, but the pool was under construction during our visit. Hopefully, it opens next summer because I am curious to see the outcome. The food and libations at both the Colonial room and Polo lounge are delicious. We ordered room service for dinner and ate breakfast onsite. We placed our dinner order while we had drinks at the lounge and by the time we returned to our room, our meals arrived minutes later. Talk about swift service! Not a single item on the menu was disappointing but I'll save the details on the food for a separate review. My two issues with the place are the size of the bathroom and the noise level at night. As mentioned earlier the rooms, especially the premium king room, is gorgeous but the bathroom is super tiny. Even with the separate area for the sink, the shower is just too close to the toilet. Our exchanges with staff were great but throughout the night, we heard doors consistently slam. I am not sure if it was housekeeping or our neighbors nearby but the soundproofing in the rooms and hallways is not the best. I am a light sleeper and even with my earplugs, drowning out the sound proved impossible. Despite the mishaps, we had a wonderful time and would love to make a return visit when the pool is open.

Yelp
Had an order to be dropped at this location. Guy working the front desk needs to be trained on how to talk to people. Extremely rude and dismissive.

Yelp
Our annual December High Tea with my mother was beautiful! Alittle chaotic as it started right when Sunday Brunch ended and the employees were running around taking down brunch and setting up for the next event while we were being seated. I was really impressed with how mature and kind the staff was from all ages. They also accommodated my allergies very well and appreciated that! They kept good restock on our food, it was all delicious and tea selection was excellent!

Brittani L.

Yelp
This is such an amazing concept for pandemic dining and if you are being Covid conscience and don't want to dine indoors with large crowds. You have to make reservations online and there is a cancellation fee if you don't show up. Even though it was super cold outside, the inside was toasty and bright due to the heaters and lighting inside. The service did take a very long time, possibly due to the distance from the kitchen to the igloos. However, the food and service were great. I'd highly recommend for a family night out or a romantic date night.

Regina S.

Yelp
Stayed here for a family wedding. The outside of the hotel was unremarkable, but the reception area, bar, and lobby had an attractive decor that helped imbue a comfortable yet elegant atmosphere. This property actually consisted of two separate buildings. One was for public areas including the restaurant, ballroom, and meeting rooms, the other housed all the guest rooms and suites. Service, overall, was quite good except for one hiccup. Our Jr. Suite had a sofa with wooden legs. We had some of our family in our room, and one of the legs broke unexpectedly and without warning, which made the sofa unusable. When we told the front desk about the incident, we were told that they could not accommodate us with a different "intact" sofa and could only fix the broken one after our departure. Considering we paid extra for a larger room so we could host visitors during the weekend celebrations, we were very disappointed with how this situation was handled. We went off to lunch, and had every intention of contacting the manager upon our return but alas, there was no need. As we entered our room, we found a usable sofa. Surprise! Kudos for finally addressing the problem, but boo on how the initial complaint was handled. We enjoyed our stay. The wedding reception area was beautiful, the screened porches were a lovely bonus, and the bed was comfortable. We only wished the bathroom would have been larger. It was a tight squeeze, and didn't provide a great area for getting ready for a big event. Doubtful if we would ever need to stay in Oak Brook Terrace again, but we wouldn't hesitate to return if we did.

Yelp
We came for high tea today. My friend and myself and our two toddlers. My friend is a strict celiac and will get seriously sick if she has gluten. They did accommodate her but the options were extremely minimal. Additionally, both of our food / treats were not great at all. Hard scones, dry bread for the sandwiches. When we were seated the woman who served us mentioned complimentary champagne or mimosas, but any other cocktail would be a charge. We were not aware it was only the first one being complimentary and had 4 altogether. Our toddlers are 3 and should be free per the website, but we were originally charged for the both of them. That left our bill over 250$! We explained our issues and concerns to our waitress who gave us push back and then finally went to revise the check. When she came back she removed the mimosa charge but not the charge for the kids. We had to ask her again to revise it and she said she didn't know they were under 4 ( we had just told her minutes ago ). The revised bill was still so pricey for the quality of service and food at this place. We were super excited to do high tea with the kiddos for their upcoming birthdays and we were left unimpressed and disappointed.

Yelp
The High Life! The Drake feels like a small slice of the high life nestled in to the suburbs close enough for us to enjoy. We did not stay at the Drake, so I can't comment on the rooms. We visited the Drake on Thanksgiving day for their holiday brunch and it was really good. When you drive up it feels more like a country club, but the entrance to the building feels grand. They did offer valet parking, and there were plenty of people working to open doors and greet everyone. That was one of the things that impressed me was there were so many people to help visitors in getting them checked in or directing them where to go. There were several large rooms set up with tables and food stations so that there weren't long lines of people waiting for food. The lines never had more than a couple people at a time. They had almost everything you could think of for Thanksgiving food, and even kept pouring the mimosas. It felt like anyone could come here and enjoy a nice outing or brunch and feel that small slice of the high life.

Yelp
My wife and I treated my parents to dinner in the heated igloos at the Drake in Oak Brook last week celebrate my father's birthday. As luck would have it, it was ridiculously cold our (the temperature was about 4 degrees outside), but the igloo was actually quite pleasant (we brought a few blankets to supplement the heaters). Food was excellent. Service provided by Maria and her team was top-notch! Thank you!

Yelp
My husband and I had our wedding at the Drake last year on August 6th. We decided to go back and celebrate our 1 year anniversary there for dinner. We had a wonderful time! We sat outside on the patio and listened to the live music. Our dinner was amazing, I had the filet and my husband had the seabass. Our server was Bobby (his name tag said Robert), was very polite and attentive. He made sure everything was perfect for our anniversary. My husband and I will definitely be coming back for our future anniversaries.

Yelp
Updated rooms Owners updating all of the property eventually a pool & more water features Great for functions & dining

Yelp
My cousin and I decided to do a girls weekend away from the city and choose The Drake because of its chic and beautiful rooms. She booked everything because she's a member of a rewards program through the company. They have two sides, apparently there's an under ground tunnel if you don't want to walk out in the cold, (we never used it). The stay overall was great. Clean rooms. Big mirrors. Chrome cast. Room service is a little slower than what I'd like but no biggie. The temperature control is INSTANT! Kicks off right when you adjust the temperature. We were super excited with our *fancy* stay. But on our second night the valet had trouble w/ our car. The valet guy, James, came back and said he couldn't do it and we needed a new battery. Lucky the other guy, (I wish I caught his name), serviced us. He was willing to play with the fob since my cousin had left earlier in the day and explained how it could be opened. Now when we came back is where the real issue started. We pulled up and James was on duty. He asked us if this was the car he was having trouble with and when we said yes, he pretty much barked "park it yourself". When we stood there in shock, he said "it's cold. I can't be out there 10-15 mins playing with it". When we parked we decided that the way he spoke to us was NOT okay. & the fact he refused to service us, paying guest, was NOT okay. The other guy had no problem. Did he not explain how to work the car to James ? So in the morning I handled the complaint while my cousin brought her car around. The manager on duty was named Elina? Something with an E. She apologized and I could tell that James behavior bothered her. We asked for a late check out earlier in the day and she comped the fee as her way of apologizing. She gets 5 stars. She said she would put a note to speak to him. However, when we came back, James gave us a hard time AGAIN. I could tell he didn't want to service us and said "I would prefer if you parked it youre self" and I said "I already spoke to your manager. It's complementary." And I handed him the keys. Now James was full of excuses "it's not about it being complementary. It's difficult to start". Last night it was that the fob wouldn't work. Now it's that it's difficult to start. We had no issues every time we've left and came back so something tells me it's James and not the car. I called the manager as soon as we got inside and told her he gave us issues AGAIN & is pretty much ruining our weekend. She apologized and I could tell she was frustrated. She said when we check out to call her and she'll instruct James. I guess he was the only one on duty. Of course, at check out James is kind, soft spoken and willing to learn. He asked how to open the fob (I showed him earlier in our low heat exchange). And suddenly he needed sunlight. He couldn't see the button on the fob to get the key. I could tell after that it wasn't really our car but James didn't know how to use the fob. He even asked my cousin as she was driving which buttons to press for the doors.... This whole exchanged happen because James wasn't properly dressed for the weather (a peat coat and no hat), didn't know how to work the fob, and because he needed reader glasses to see the buttons but wasn't wearing any. The guy was probably hitting all the wrong buttons and got frustrated. Over all I wish I could have remembered the GOOD workers names. If you helped us at all this weekend thank you! But that valet man really almost ruined the whole weekend. After Saturday night all my cousin was worried about was dealing with him which, as a paying guests, we shouldn't have to worry about! I understand it was a cold and busy night but that doesn't mean you don't have to do your job or can't have a conversation as to what the problem was. Above all the tone was just horrible and I've stayed at "lesser" hotels and have never had an employee speak to me that way or refuse service. This is a first and last for me.

Wendy Z.

Yelp
The hotel is quiet and beautiful. It's also close to Oak Brook center which is a plus if you want to combine the shopping with travel.

Kristin W.

Yelp
After years of going downtown for holiday high tea we decided to try a local hotel and reserved the Drake Oak Brook. It was TERRIBLE! The room was not at all festive and we had to walk through another room that was being broken down and cleaned (vacuums running) from another event to reach our table. The food was literally inedible (bread on the sandwiches was so dry it was curling at the edges and the sweets were devoid of flavor) and service was subpar. To add insult to injury, the cost was the same as the Langham which is spectacular in every way. The price, quality and service were offensive at the even half the price. Will not be back next year or ever. Sadly, what has been a wonderful annually holiday tradition for 20+ years was a terrible miss due to the Drake's nonexistent attention to detail and quality.

Tory S.

Yelp
PAPER THIN WALLS. Which isn't that bad right? It is if there is a wedding. 1 am -- the after party comes up from the wedding absolutely SCREAMING! The noise was insane and all the other doors down the hall were opening. Finally half hour later some Security comes up and says they had to quiet down. They do not. Cursing and screaming continue. Tried to call the front desk multiple times but no one answered. Hours later security finally kicks all of them out. NOT trying to be a Karen BUT if you have children please check if there is a wedding that weekend. LOBBY BAR WAS PHENOMENAL!

Kathy M.

Yelp
Attended the "Holiday Tea" this past Saturday. The atmosphere was chaotic with several events happening in a small space. The wall to our tea was vibrating from the base from the wedding next store, while the noise from the party across the lobby flowed easily into the tea space. The piano that was set to high volume in our space to apparently drown out the other parties made it nearly impossible to hear the servers and impossible to hear guest across the table. Service was great but did not make up for the poorly planned space. I do not recommend this for tea and definitely not for a holiday experience. Very disappointing .

Robin H.

Yelp
This place is amazing and its starts with the service because they were wonderful. The food was great and I would love to go back there for brunch again because the environment was very nice. The pricing was great too

Kristine K.

Yelp
We went for holiday high tea. I called and made my reservation for 2:00. we get there and the guy says it doesn't even start until 3:00 so we had to wait. His response was, "well you called two months ago so (shoulder shrug)". For what I'm paying, his response should have been way different. Tea time was sub par. The water wasn't hot. there was no kids menu even though there is a kids price. he was nice enough to bring me gluten free options but when I got the bill, it was an up charge! when we were ready to close- out, every server had completely disappeared for 15 minutes. they all returned at the same time... kinda strange. we had to wait another 10-15 minutes for the check. the decor is also sub par. I realize it's not the city, but it doesn't even compare to the city Drake. the food spread was prefixed and although unlimited, underwhelming. lastly, we go to get our coats from coat check and they were closed. a heads up would have been nice as we then had to go find our coats and the front desk lady seemed like she expected a tip... all in all, way too expensive for what you get. go to the city instead.

Annette B.

Yelp
A beautiful location with delicious food! This place is a bit of a hidden gem in the Oak Brook area. The staff here are so friendly and there is ample parking all around the buildng. The inside is very well-kept and the dining areas are lovely. While their bread, entrees, drinks, and desserts are all wonderful, I have to say that they especially have a fabulous cappucino! Lovely place to relax and enjoy a nice meal, drinks, coffee, or all of the above!

Dennis E.

Yelp
This location does not meet the expectations of a Drake property. Small room, cannot turn on the light to use sink without the light illuminating everything, including anyone trying to sleep. It was nothing special, and Fairfield Inn rooms as large or larger. Overpriced for what you get.

Caitlen W.

Yelp
HORRIBLE. This hotel ruined my honeymoon and is the WORST hotel I've ever stayed at in all my 20 years of travel. DO NOT STAY. I stayed here to celebrate after getting married at the courthouse. WORST mistake and we ended up checking out early (by 2 days) because we were disrespected and couldn't sleep. Here's what went wrong: 1. The complimentary internet was SLOW, bordering on being nonexistent. 2. The TV streamed so slowly that it had visible flickering. We were unable to watch anything! 3. There was an event going on that weekend so we couldn't eat at the bar or restaurant. Of course we weren't told any of this ahead of time. 4. People were slamming doors constantly and we could barely sleep. The walls are also paper thin. Even if there was an event, the walls should be somewhat soundproof. 5. There was dust left which we saw when we checked in, and we had reserved our room for 2 months out. 6. There was a sewer smell from the toilet. 7. The rug had a stain on it (brown) :( 8. We had to wait for room service to call us back because nobody was there to answer the phone. 9. We got wrongfully accused of having a physical fight on Friday (which was our wedding night. By being wrongfully accused we mean the front desk woman called us the day after the supposed event occurred and accused us of being loud instead of getting our side of the story. She then threatened to call the Oak Brook police on us. We did not throw things and were not violent like she said. They did all of this when we checked out early because we did not want to get wrongfully accused by the Oak Brook Police. No communication or trying to understand what happened, as rooms across from us were arguing and throwing things and slamming doors. We barely slept. 10. The abysmal front desk woman when we checked out early (no idea what her name is) got in my now husband's face and was trying to intimidate him, screaming in his face. She came out from behind the counter trying to insight violence from him. She lied and said she's the manager when we demanded a refund, even though she is not, and didn't even give us the GM's contact information. She was accusatory, rude, lacked patience, empathy, or common sense. We did not get a full refund, only the nights we didn't end up staying. She ruined our stay and ruined our honeymoon when we had to figure out a new place to stay. 11. We did not even get an acknowledgment that it was our honeymoon even though we arrived from the courthouse in our wedding outfits. We felt like a nuisance and were treated with coldness, like an inconvenience. We were not offered any kind of perks and were not even given a packet like at other hotels about what services they offer, other points of interest to visit, etc. It was like being greeted by a terse librarian. I would expect this from a motel, not a 4 star ranked hotel. We had to find a new hotel on the fly (ON OUR HONEYMOON) because we got no rest and were worried we would get accused of more disturbances because a room near us was arguing, slamming doors, etc. Another room kept slamming the door repeatedly to somehow retaliate against whoever was being loud. We switched to the Hilton Conference Center in Oak Brook. They have a nice view of the golf course from your room, cost less than the Drake, have a Starbucks, bar and grill, and the best part is their customer service treats you like a person, not like a nuisance. Nate hooked us up with free drinks and appetizers once we told him how horrid our experience at the Drake was. This hotel looks nice on the outside, but the quality and cleanliness in the room was lacking, the customer service was the WORST I've ever encountered in my 20 years of travel, and this hotel deserves to be downgraded and ranked as a 2 star hotel based on the horrific customer service. I've stayed at Holiday Inns with better customer service in New Mexico. I'll never stay again. P.S. the hotel is classist so if you show up and you're not decked out in prom gear or are not a rich, old white person, be prepared to be treated like a nuisance, or someone who is not worthy of staying there. Literally someone asked why my husband wasn't wearing golf shoes and was wearing Nikes. Who cares? If you're paying to stay, being treated like a person would be a top priority. Apparently they don't want repeat guests, because we will never stay again. You have been warned.

Yelp
3.5 stars. I upped to four stars because we received great customer service. We chose The Drake Oak Brook as the hotel to stay at for our wedding night. Once we arrived, I could tell it's outdated and does not stay true to the class of the Drake name. This hotel is not on the same level as the Drake hotel in downtown Chicago. However, there is a renovation in the process, so I will be curious to stay here again to see how that has played out. When we arrived (decked out in a huge white dress and tuxedo), the employee at the front desk said they upgraded us to the "bridal suite" to help us celebrate our special day. When we made it to our room, we were pleasantly surprised to see a cute box of french macarons were there to welcome us. We truly appreciated the sweet (no pun intended) touch to help us celebrate. The rooms were perhaps a little outdated, and there was a slight smell. The bathroom was smaller than I would have expected for a "bridal suite," and I'm now curious what the smaller rooms look like. The bed was very comfortable, and I LOVED the impeccably clean white sheets. So soft. We were exhausted (understandably, after getting married!), so we didn't get to spend as much time here as we would have liked. But we appreciated it. We really wanted to order room service in the morning, but we didn't have any cash to tip, so we decided to pull ourselves together and venture downstairs to eat. There was only one other table in the dining room, so we felt like we still got a private experience. The other table sounded like they were discussing a wedding that was going to be happening there later that night. As evidenced by the framed photos of brides and grooms, it seems like The Drake Oak Brook is marketing itself as a wedding venue. I ordered an everything bagel with salmon topped with egg and onion. My (newly minted!) husband ordered a waffle. The salmon bagel was a huge portion, which I appreciated. But it was topped with minced raw red onions, which isn't how they're usually prepared for my dish. All in all, we had a lovely experience here, though I do think the Drake name is a tad misleading. This is not a luxurious hotel. Looking forward to those renovations!

Yelp
The walls are paper thin They put a family in the next room at 2 in the morning...doors slamming, loud talking and baby crying The place was about 20T booked but yet they had to fill the floor. If you want a good nites rest...go somewhere else

Yelp
This is a charming hotel, but it doesn't have a lot of modern amenities you'd find at a Hilton or Marriott. No Starbucks or quick cafe. A single sit-down restaurant or room service are your only two options. I wasn't a fan of the small bathroom, it felt like I was bumping into the toilet every time I stepped out of the shower. The room was nicely cleaned everyday though. I do wish they had more menu options. In terms of room service food: - The Egg White Frittata was delicious! It definitely started my morning off well and wasn't heavy at all. Tasted very fresh. - The portabella mushroom burger left a little something to be desired. Not a fan. All in all, this is a decent hotel if you're looking for charming decor, a cozy atmosphere, and want to feel like you stepped back in time.

Yelp
Champagne Sunday Brunch. I made reservations in May for a date in July. The Drake called Thursday night to cancel a reservation for the following Sunday morning claiming that there was a private event scheduled. Any private event should've already been scheduled and that timeframe should've been blocked off. Therefore, their excuse is suspect. The cancellation was short notice, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. I selected that brunch date to celebrate my late grandmother's birthday as well as mine. I made reservations months in advance so I didn't have to scramble to make plans and so that I could just ease into this symbolic weekend. Instead, the weekend was ruined. I was offered lunch on the same day to replace the brunch. The brunch is buffet-styled and is in no way the same thing a lunch which is just one meal per patron. Another offer was to reschedule and potentially waste more time in the event they canceled again. I reiterate, this wasn't just any weekend. A manager was supposed to call the next day, but a conversation with a manager did not happen. The Drake just moved on unfazed.

Yelp
The Drake hotel is a wonderful swanky, historical place to stay. The rooms are wonderful, the food is first class and the bar is top notch. The one area of improvement that keeps me from rating it a 5-star is on my most recent stay, there were 20 people in the bar, and the bar manager insisted on honoring the closing time of 10pm. Yes last call was provided but you would thing that a good manager would recognize that this number of people that remains in the bar would increase not only revenue but also tips in their pockets. Not such the case tonight, which is a Thursday. At 10:20pm a small group of 6 people walked in and the manager on duty at the bar stated they were closed. I just don't get it. All other areas of the hotel are first class. I obviously question the on duty bar managers discretion of refusing service when additional revenue was right there in front of her.

Yelp
Love the old world charm of this hotel. The lobby and restaurant, pub and banquet rooms are Beautiful. While the guest rooms have had some updating, a little more is needed which I've been told will be done as soon as the addition to this hotel is opened. Thry are clean and spacious. The employees are wonderful and very accommodating. If you want a hotel with charm, this is the place to stay.

Yelp
Just wonderful! Exactly what I would expect of an English Afternoon Tea, from the sugar cubes to the clotted cream.

Yelp
The hotel was great all around. Our room was spacious & clean and the entire staff was lovely throughout our stay. We must, however, give a special shoutout to Maria. She took care of us each day while we had breakfast at the restaurant on the property. She was kind & attentive and developed a beautiful rapport with our daughter (who is otherwise skeptical of new people!). We couldn't have been happier with Maria's service and care.

Yelp
This definitely wasn't my favorite hotel.. they lacked the cheery welcoming host you generally find behind the front desk, and instead of the luxury "old money" feel they were going for it just came across feeling a bit old. I liked the lobby and bar area well enough. I grabbed a pricey but delicious drink and had a good conversation with the bartender. The room itself didn't seem as clean as I hoped and felt cramped with furniture too big for the small area. Our air conditioning wasn't working properly and the shower head was far too low even for me at 5'9. I appreciated their hair dryer, Keurig, and mini fridge that all rooms come with, and their bed was pretty comfortable with nice slick soft sheets. I don't think I would choose to stay at the Drake again. There are a lot of great options in town and I left feeling very bittersweet about my stay!

Yelp
Oh how I LOVE this hotel! I love that they restored it, I love the classic old feeling and rich interiors and it all just felt so special! I brought my daughter, (16), and husband here for e last night of our RoadTrip. We bought our daughter a one-on-one experience with penguins at the nearby Brookfield Zoo for her birthday and I wanted a really special hotel too. This was perfect. Let's start with the bartender/waiter in the lounge area. How great is he??? We were there on a Thursday, (12/29: great martini prices!), and he made a terrific Shirley-temple like drink, brought her extra cherries and me olives, and en refilled hers without even asking. We were not even sitting in his line of vision but he was right there with the water glasses, food, menus, etc. great great guy... And fabulous guitar player in lounge too! The decor for Christmas is beautiful... Our room was pristine/clean, white shag carpet, crisp white bedding, beautiful bathroom and a big fridge and Keurig... We didn't even go into Chicago the night we got in. Just enjoyed food and drink in the lobby and then watched movies in our room. My husband and I used the exercise room, which surprised me that they had new treadmill, elliptical and bike, (same ones as my Planet Fitness at home!), as well as some older weight machines. Very useful/handy for us. And we liked the place so much, we didn't go out to breakfast either. Ordered room service, (pancakes, fruit plate and juice), which was as delicious as the pesto flatbread the night before. (Caution: not a lot of options for a vegan or vegetarian, but we learn to work around it) Very reasonable rates too. Spent $35-ish in lounge, $35-ish on room service plus one night stay and ended at $200.00 at check out. Can't beat that! Oh, and check out is a nice 12:00pm. I love that! Very classy!

Yelp
We had New Year's Day brunch here! The restaurant is charming with pretty views of the property. Food was pretty good. The buffet was kept full and fresh and attendants were scurrying around keeping everything perfect. The mimosas were excellent. We especially enjoyed the eggs Benedict and the pasta station as well as the saffron rice. We will definitely keep this buffet brunch in mind! Can't wait to return.
