The Drawing Room

My brother and his partner were in town visiting, so we took the obligatory drive to see Niagara Falls, and some wine tasting in the Niagara region. They asked if I knew of any place that had afternoon tea. I thought Prince of Wales Hotel might, and a quick google search confirmed this. I booked a reservation for three on OpenTable a couple of hours in advance while they were enjoying local Niagara wine at one of the wineries. This was the first time I’ve had Afternoon tea ever, so I didn’t have any particular expectations. The staff member who served us was very kind and polite. She explained the menu to us, as we had some questions. My brother’s partner has a gluten allergy, and although the menu gluten free substitution requires 24 hr noticed, our server went to the kitchen and asked if gluten free was possible the day. She returned and said they could accommodate, and we were able to get gluten-free items just for her. I’m not really a tea person so I’m not a good judge on the quality relative to other teas. The food was good, but not amazing. You are paying for the service, atmosphere and charm of the Prince of Wales’ hotel. The china the tea is served in is delicate and beautiful. I think if you’re a fan of afternoon tea, or with someone who is, it’s worth it. For the casual experience, it’s nice to try once.

We visited The Drawing Room Prince of Wales Hotel for the afternoon tea and absolutely loved the experience. Every detail was thoughtfully done, from the elegant presentation to the top-notch quality of the food. The staff were kind, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. A wonderful experience that’s absolutely worth the price. We’ll definitely be back with our family to enjoy it again. Highly recommended!

My husband and I went to the drawing room for his birthday and we absolutely loved it. Healthy organic teas. The food was very fresh and pastries were delicious. This was something different for us to experience and we loved it. Highly recommend

This is located inside a historic hotel. We came here for high tea in the afternoon and it is an amazing experience. The portion is giant for my small tummy that they already prepared boxes for you. The earl grey tea tastes great and the food makes me forget my stress. The atmosphere feels comfortable and nice for a girl's talk in the afternoon. Don't miss to walk around that there are tons of great portrait paintings in the hotel lobby.

A Tea Fit for a Queen! Or rather 4 queens otherwise known as The Golden Girls or Girl Just Want to Have Fun! We loved your Royal tea; what could be better than a sumptuous afternoon tea served with a sparkling mimosa! Delicious! The tea and the drink. From the savoury egg salad on a croissant to smoked salmon and dill cream cheese to the wonderful cucumber sandwiches then the piece de resistance the warm scones with whipped butter, clotted cream and simply delicious strawberry jam! Topped with berry crumble tarts, garnished with strawberries and blackberries, cookies, macaroons, mini cupcakes ! Your tastes buds will explode with flavours upon flavours! A true culinary delight!

We came for my friend's bachelorette excursion, and it was such a nice experience. Our server Victoria was absolutely the best and so friendly and welcoming, and the food was also yummy and actually filling for an afternoon tea set. We just ordered the regular Afternoon Tea set at dinner time (they no longer serve the Candlelit one, so the website is outdated), and I didn't think it would be enough food but I realized I only ate like 4 things and then I was full lol. They might change the menu around, but as of August 2025, my favourite sweet item was probably the raisin scone--it was soft and fluffy on the inside while being crispy on the exterior, it had juicy raisins, and with butter/jam on top, mmm it was delicious. My favourite savoury item was the egg salad croissant, and I don't generally like egg salad! I wish it was bigger 🥺 I also mentioned that I had a nut allergy, so Victoria gave me a separate tray for my food items, and I also noticed they swapped out a macaron for a coconut macaroon. It's nice that they have options for people with allergies here!

Absolutely gorgeous setting and delicious High Tea. Feels elevated and a step back in time. The Drawing Room is not very big but roses and friendly staff made a lovely atmosphere and great photos! $55 is high but the ambience is good. Food was good, flavours are good. So much food...

Extremely disappointed with our High Tea today. I made the reservation a week ago and confirmed it yesterday. I had specified this was a special occasion which they did not acknowledge (why they asked in the booking if they were not going to mention it during our visit, I just don't know). When we arrived exactly on time, they said they needed to "find a spot for us", this took a few minutes. Rather than putting us at a regular table, they tried to sit us at a coffee table which we declined. We are all over 60 and to sit like that to eat would be very uncomfortable. We felt like they thought they were doing us a favour by finding us a place. They then found the 3 of us a small table, even though there was a nicer table by the window that was being held for a group of 4 arriving in 45 minutes, why not give us that and save the coffee table for them?? The salmon sandwiches were extremely dry and the bread felt stale. Croissants were on the hard side but the egg salad was tasty. Desserts were nice but nothing that made us say "wow". The server went out of her way and had a special coffee made for one of us. She was also very pleasant and did what she could to make our visit nice. We paid $165, plus tax and tip, which was a lot for the amount and quality of food. It was all extremely disappointing.

A lovely Victoria setting for Afternoon Tea at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara - on -the - Lake, CA. I have visited on three occasions, and sampled three different types of Afternoon Teas. The first time I had a Traditional Tea with selected teas, scones, mini-sandwiches, and desserts. The second visit was a Royal Tea with a glass of Champagne. The last one was an evening tea, the Candlelight Highland Tea with Rob Roy included. Absolutedly delicious, all three of them. Each was special in their own way, Service is impeccable. The ambiance is romantic, invoking a bygone era.

My mom and I were traveling to Niagara Falls for a bucket list trip, but decided to stay at the Prince of Wales hotel. Her very favorite thing is afternoon tea and we were THRILLED to see that there was a tea right in our hotel. While expensive at $65 CAD, we decided to have tea here for the convenience. We were not disappointed. We were able to choose from the standard tea ($55 CAD) or add a cheese plate for an additional $10 CAD, which we decided to spurge on. The cheeses were delectable and we were thrilled we did. With this package, you can order any of the premium Sloan teas that are on the menu. Each person gets their own eclectic pot. You also get a 2 or 3 tiered food tray that includes sandwiches (smoked salmon sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, egg salad on a croissant, signature scones made with plump, jasmine tea infused sultana raisins. Accompanied by strawberry jam, crème fraîche with lemon/candied ginger & butter. You also get assorted pastries - tart with hummus, tart with caramel and creme frosting topped with a raspberry, macroons, ginger cookies and the most delicious cupcakes with butter cream frosting. This was our lunch and we split everything and took 2 boxes home which we ate for breakfasts the next 2 days. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to the NOTL region as you get to experience the Prince of Wales hotel, see the bustling street AND eat delicious food with tea!

This place is such a gem and worth the trip (and for us an Uber) from Niagara Falls. I am so glad to stumble upon this place on OpenTable when looking for restaurants, especially after enjoying tea another week earlier at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac. I must say this is even better than that by far. The Drawing Room is on the street side lower level corner inside the historic Prince of Wales Hotel which has an amazing lobby and we wouldn't mind staying there. My wife and I had The Monarch Tea with cheese and wine and we loved everything which was fresh, tasty, delicious, locally sourced, and large portions. Our server Meagan was great and is a Swiftie like is us and why we came to Canada. We certainly look forward to returning!

One of the reasons we decided to stay at the hotel was to also have their Traditional Afternoon Tea set. It's currently $55 per person and booking online was easy. There aren't that many tables in the sunroom portion of the dining room. We were lucky to get the last one available at the time. Service was good, albeit a bit slow. Our server rattled off all the items in our set, but it was too much to remember for us. Our table for two was quite small once everything arrived at the table. We saw that for those with larger orders, a side table was put next to their table for all the additional items. It didn't look like a lot of food, but it was very filling. Every table had to-go boxes to pack up what they couldn't finish. We found that the bread for the sandwiches was dry (like it had been left out) and that the croissant was not flakey. The sweets were very sweet and after a couple it was just too much. Of the teas that we ordered, the Ginger Twist was flavourful, but the Tropical Green barely had a taste to it.

We decided to take a drive to Niagara on the Lake. I booked the afternoon tea at the drawing room in the Prince of Wales Hotel. It is a cute room, very English looking ( of course). The menu consists of the basic afternoon tea set with the 3-tier food tray and choices of tea. Some special teas cost $12 CAD more. Add ons for additional cost, you can get cheese, bubble wines etc. There are lots of food, from the savory ones to sweet ones. Our server Megan was nice. She had to attend to many tables but still gave us good service. Parking is on the street with payment outside. The whole sweet was just beautiful, full of flowers. The hotel itself also is gorgeous looking with patterned wood floors and fresh roses. The whole place smells like roses. I am sure I will be back.

The tea sets are ornate, the desserts are delicate, and the decor is regal, all of which transport you to the Victorian era. The service is impeccable, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The menu offers a variety of teas, sandwiches, scones, and pastries, all of which are delicious and beautifully presented.

I'm somewhat of an Afternoon/High tea fiend, and I've been to quite a lot in Ontario. I will say The Drawing Room has THE BEST high tea atmosphere I've experienced. From the English Victorian era decor, the plush seats/sofas, ornate cutlery & plates, waitress ensembles, and the beautiful sunroom. We all got the $55 Traditional High Tea set. I liked the tea selections, but the tower of food in itself had too many sweets and not enough savoury. Seeing that 2/3 of the tower were sweet pastries, it felt more like a dessert tower. I wish there were TWO plain or savoury scones instead of just one sweet scone with the butter tart. Overall, a delightful experience to enjoy with friends nevertheless :) TIP: if you mention it's a birthday celebration, they give you a COMPLIMENTARY BUTTER TART with a candle

I checked in for the My Fair Lady tea service and had the most amazing afternoon. My server Diane was wonderful and with fast and friendly service I received my peaches and cream tea to start .Then came the scrumptious tea tray of the egg salad, salmon and cucumber cream cheese sandwiches.Plus scones, macaroons and tarts.Eveything was delicious and I can't wait to return again.The room is so cozy and peaceful, just perfect for afternoon tea.

Started off the My Fair Lady Tea.service with speedy service and a smile from our wonderful server Diane who brought out my choice of the tropical green tea, which had hints of pineapple and papaya and was very tasty. Next came the tea tray of salmon, egg salad and cucumber cream cheese sandwiches, what a delicious delight.The tray also included tarts, scones and macaroons which were incredible. The room is very intimate and enjoyable for a perfect afternoon tea.

Old world high tea was nice. Staff was friendly and efficient. Nice tea time bites, as you'd expect. My party raved these were the best scones they ever had and enjoyed the lemon butter. Quality of everything was quite good. Call ahead and you can request non gluten. My sister did and her servings were quite good too. Not half done, she had a good spread. While the tea selection is wide enough and you have some upgrade options, I wasn't too fond of the three teas I tried. I personally got the upgraded Darjeeling and thought the quality was just OK based on other varieties I've tried in the past. Same went with the peaches and crème as well as the ginger tea. Maybe I'm used to a bit more of a steep. Ambience is nice. Old vintage vibe. Bathroom is a bit small, but adequate.

Visited here during the family day long weekend, what a classy place! The decor is beautiful and antique. Happy they had sloane tea, it is our favourite. There were a variety of options to choose from, we chose the one that came with mimosas. The food tasted good, and there was a balance of sweet and savoury options.

Loved it here! Service of food was a lot more than expected. Jasmine tea was absolutely delicious. We ordered the cheese with the afternoon tea and that was delicious too. Will definitely come here again.

This hotel was so lovely and in such a great area. I love to have afternoon tea and this venue is very beautiful and has extremely friendly staff. The tea I chose was really good and you get a very large pot. The tiered tray of food was very filling, although some items were much better than others. I also highly recommend a reservation.

The snow dragon tea was amazing!! The atmosphere was great, food was perfect and wait staff pleasant. All around great experience and would love to come back again.
