The house is really cozy and quaint, and the family that runs the house is extremely warm, meticulous and helpful - I felt really well taken care of, especially travelling solo. Probably one of the cleanest hotels I’d stayed in on my long trip in Sri Lanka, and the incense sticks, candles and matches provided in the room were an example of the many nice touches in the house. There were many times when the family went the extra mile to look out for me - like when I had an early morning dive lined up, so they woke up extra early to provide me with a 6.30am breakfast; and when they called up multiple drivers during a peak time to book me a car back to Colombo for a price much lower than most people were asking.
Location is exceptional - just a few minutes’ walk to the beach and popular restaurants; a small family-run convenience store right outside, a fruit vendor; and an ATM about 100m away. There’s also many friendly tuks waiting outside the house in case you need one to go further out (like to Galle Fort for a day trip or to Jungle Beach and the Japanese Peace Pagoda). It is quite a bit of a walk to/from the main road but as a tourist, this was more convenient and I didn’t want for anything.
I’d expected there to be a few insects/mosquitoes in my room given that the house is surrounded by trees, but surprisingly I didn’t encounter any.
