"From a members-only beach club in the 1960s, The Dunmore has evolved into a 16-room boutique stay whose spirit and decor evoke that era. Local interior designer Amanda Lindroth oversaw a major renovation when the hotel’s current owners bought the property in 2010. Wicker and rattan furniture, patterned prints, and spaces that are as much outdoors as indoors create a look that is somewhere between late British colonial and timeless Bahamian. Although the landmark sitson Harbour Island’sPink Sands Beach, a pool with an airy pavilion adds to The Dunmore’s reputation as a place of amiable gathering. After a day of sunfilled fun, head to the on-site restaurant, where chef Cindy Hutson, one of the region’s rising culinary stars, prepares modern twists on island delicacies—think grouper curry with lychee and grilled pineapple and banana fritters with rum caramel."

I have never felt compelled to make a review before, let alone a negative one. But, my husband and I were so taken aback by our experience at The Dunmore, we felt it important to relay to management and potential patrons what the “hospitality” is like there. We have stayed in 5 star hotels around the world and experienced some incredible hospitality and some sub-par but this was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. From check-in to check-out to every meal and interaction in between we were met with such incredible rudeness. Every person on the staff was short and agitated, annoyed at the simplest request be it a lunch order, a question about the property or the area or a request for any kind of help. Regularly we saw staff members whispering with one another, rolling their eyes and acting as if our very presence was a burden. It was so incredibly uncomfortable. Harbor Island is very nice and we found the locals outside the hotel to be lovely. This was unique to The Dunmore. It’s sad because the hotel itself is definitely the nicest on the island but the service and staff make it a place we would not ever want to experience again, nor would we recommend it. This experience tarnished a good chunk of our vacation because we felt so uncomfortable. It’s just a reminder that you can be at a beautiful place and location but if the hospitality is non-existent and the staff is unpleasant, you will be paying good money for a negative experience. Such a shame.

Amazing beach. Junior suite is great for a family with 2 small kids. The pool is nice but small. Restaurant is good and there are a few you can walk down the beach to. Great place for a nice beach hang. Not sure I get all the other hype around Harbor Island as far as the town.

I don't usually do reviews but after this stay I feel obliged to express myself||We have known Bahamas for years and we have chosen this hotel to try another structure||In the others we found ourselves well not only in Harbour island but also in Eleuthera||I stayed in this hotel from April 28 to 3 May Arrived at the airport we took advantage of the paid transfer service and we waited 30 minutes under the sun to wait 2 people who never arrived despite there were 2 dedicated taxis|finally arrived at the hotel the room was not ready and We asked if it was possible before 3 pm but the answer was NO||We then asked to have dinner the first night at the hotel and there was no place and they couldn't book from elsewhere||Room small dirty with air conditioning direct on the bed sockets for charging mobile phone between bed and mattress TV that turning it off turned on again no service unfriendly operators did the minimum called the manager solved zero|Same thing on the beach dirty tables no one asks you if you want something to drink|To be renovated and reviewed the service

Outstanding in every way measurable and unmeasurable way (such as the ocean water colors in turquoise and every shade of blue and the pink sand beach. The house staff is outstanding and Latoya is excellent. The homes to rent have outstanding views, beach access and beautiful pools. The restaurant has the freshest seafood imaginable. One of the finest hotels I have ever stayed at in the world.

We were really looking forward to celebrating our recent wedding at The Dunmore, a 5-star hotel we had heard such wonderful things about. Sadly, the experience was a letdown. Despite there being multiple empty tables, we were refused a table for two—not due to lack of space, but because of staffing shortages. We spoke to both the staff and a manager, but no one made any effort to accommodate us or offer a solution. As newlyweds simply wanting to enjoy a quiet dinner together, we were shocked by the lack of care and flexibility. For a hotel that prides itself on luxury and top-tier service, this was incredibly disappointing. It left a bitter impression on what should have been a beautiful and celebratory night.

Always a great experience, however, they have a dress code and child policy that is not consistent, which is very disappointing. There were a number of families with kids eating after 7 pm and a barefoot guest walking through the dining area. Not the Dunmore we are used to experiencing.

The staff here are incredibly nice. The beach is beautiful, and the food is really good. The facility is quaint and, to me, preferable in a romantic way to these super modern super big sanitized resorts. By the way, the local restaurants are really good too.||Some foot-faults though. Room sign says call front desk for ice. Did that and was quite miffed to be asked by the front desk when can I come down and pick up the ice. I said I’d like it delivered to the room – okay he said. Two hours later and two or three more phone calls the ice finally arrives. ||Duly ordered in the afternoon a taxi to meet us at the property at 5:45 pm to take us to our 6 pm dinner reservation – and at the restaurants around here if you’re late they give your table away. We arrived 5 minutes before appointed cab time and no cab ever showed. Got an emergency ride from hotel security which was really nice. But, low and behold, we got the restaurant late and our table was indeed given away – the penalty for lateness. We did manage to get another one but only because we were lucky. ||The last night here on property we go to dinner a bit early – 6 PM – and make an ask to get the room turned down at 6 while we were out of the room at dinner. Return at 8 pm from dinner and room is not made up.||There was also the problem of the one entitled guest who holds repeated loud business Zoom calls every day from the pool area. This is so rude and only total jerks do this – but there are a lot of entitled total jerks out there these days at resorts. The resort should implement a no Zoom call rule. ||We brought the foot-faults to the staff’s attention upon checkout and they were very attentive to us. On the cab they did mention that they are dealing with third parties and sometimes reliability is a problem. There are only 3 taxis on the entire Island – 2 drivers having retired lately. We suggested a hotel car or shuttle would remedy the problem but they said the taxi folks don’t like that because it cuts into their business. Well, the taxi folks can’t have it both ways – but apparently, they do  ||Anyway, we would go back.

We always look forward to our time at the Dunmore. Beautiful dining room and outdoor spaces with the loveliest views. Our favorite lunch stop on the island….sit outside and order a “Southside”! And don’t miss the new shop, always a great edit!
