We recently stayed at this beautiful a hotel in Philadelphia, and we can't recommend it highly enough. The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the city, within walking distance to major attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. It made exploring Philadelphia incredibly convenient.||The owners are wonderful— welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. They offered great local recommendations.||The hotel itself is beautifully decorated. Our room was large, tastefully furnished, and full of character. It felt more like a stylish boutique than a typical hotel room. The bathroom was equally spacious and clean.||Highly recommend The Dwight D Hotel!

The Dwight D is our favorite place to stay when we are in Philly! It’s a beautiful escape in the middle of the busy city! The rooms are gorgeous and luxurious, and the back garden is a peaceful place that makes you forget you are even in the city! ||Vittoria and her staff couldn’t be kinder, more helpful, or more welcoming! They pay attention to every detail and it shows throughout the gorgeous property. The location is great— within walking distance to great shopping and restaurants. We can’t wait to come back!

What a treasure! Staying at Dwight D. was like living in a gorgeous 19th-century Rittenhouse Square mansion, but with modern convenience and luxuries. The owners have beautified this piece of Philly history, and made it better than the original with artistic attention to design details. This “city house hotel” is half a block of Latimer Garage, close to Suburban Station, and within walking distance of anything you’d like to do in Center City. Staying in the Grand Suite was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary!

The Dwight D. is perfect for your Philadelphia getaway! I stay whenever I am in town for business and recently stayed with several of my family members for a long weekend. The location is on a quiet block of central city just minutes away from Rittenhouse Square, a block from Walnut Street shopping and right around the corner from several top eateries. Impeccable rooms and beautiful backyard are additional bonuses!

Cannot say enough good things about the Dwight D. My wife and I have stayed multiple times and it is always a 10/10 experience. ||The rooms are gorgeous. It is impeccably clean and the location is perfect.||Everyone is so helpful and friendly we couldn’t ask for a better experience . The Dwight D will always be our first choice when we’re staying in Philadelphia!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Dwight D Hotel and it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and personalized service that made me feel instantly at home. The hotel’s decor is stunning – a perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy charm. Every detail, from the carefully curated artwork to the luxurious linens, showed a deep commitment to quality and comfort. My room was immaculate, beautifully designed, and offered a wonderful living area. The plush bedding and thoughtfully arranged amenities made it feel like a true retreat. Thanks to Ken and Vittoria

Beautiful and comfortable space. Great location for morning walks with matcha and evening dinner plans. Loved the garden patio, the hosts, and the security. We will go back and recommend to friends! Very clean, really sweet rooms.

This place is amazing. It is right in the heart of the city but very quiet in the rooms. Beautiful, comfortable accommodations. The personalized hospitality was incredible, with such friendly people running this place. I went to stay while visiting a friend and going to see music and will definitely be back.

Yelp
This is a total gem in the heart of Philadelphia. Steps from Walnut Street shopping and Rittenhouse Square with tons of amazing restaurants. Ken met us right as we pulled up and gave us a parking pass--we were literally in front of the hotel, and as it was a 24-hour Sunday to holiday Monday, our car was parked there for free our entire stay. The room was gorgeous with beautiful decor and art, an incredible comfortable king bed and the bathroom had one of the greatest showers we have ever experienced. Plus the price is incredibly low for what you get, and includes tons of amenities that chain hotels would charge you extra for-- L'Occitane products, fancy spring and bubbly waters, coffee and espresso and much more. And the common areas are just beautiful. Hands down one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had anywhere in the world.

Yelp
Pretty hotel, absolutely nightmare, overbearing owner who made our buyout event very uncomfortable for us and our guests

Yelp
What a beautiful place with wonderful hosts. Charming, quiet and distinctive. Thanks for a great memory.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to stay at the Dwight D hotel thanks to an auction win back in the Spring. My interactions with Vittoria, one of the owners, and Sarah, their director of food and beverage, were nothing but kind and welcoming. From the moment you arrive, the team looks out for you and ensures a pleasant stay. This was my first time staying in a boutique hotel, and it was enjoyable! The location is convenient to the many things offered in Philadelphia, and the effort they put in to preserving the 1800's townhouse feel of the hotel totally pays off. It was very much appreciated that they added a modern bathroom to the guest rooms! If you're looking for a nice getaway with a historic feel in a historic city, check out the Dwight D hotel!

Yelp
This historic boutique hotel is a hidden gem just a few blocks from Rittenhouse square. It has just 11 rooms and the owners go out of their way to provide a great experience. Avoid the big high rise hotels for a unique experience. There are dozens of amazing restaurants within a few blocks and can actually have a great walk one way to the museums, another way to Independence Hall or down to the Italian market. Their beautiful parlor is a great place to visit with a few friends with coffee and tea available at all times or grab take out and sit in the gorgeous small dining area. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We had an amazing experience at the hotel and we got upgraded for free! Vittoria and Ken were amazing hosts and went out of their way to make sure that everything was perfect for our stay. We loved it so much that we already booked our next stay in the coming weeks!

Yelp
A charming boutique hotel on a quiet street in the heart of Philly. It's a bit hard to spot so be sure you have the address and look for the gold plate on the heavy wooden door in the middle of the block next door to a restaurant. This former row house residence from the 1800s make for a cozy oasis of luxury just a couple of blocks from the Kimmel arts center. In fact that proximity was our original reason for choosing it along with the fact that we are more and more gravitating toward unique boutique style lodging as our travel increase. To enter you need to ring the bell and the owner, Victoria or her husband Ken will let you in and get you settled. They issue you a key to the front door and help get you settled. We stayed in room 3F up on the third floor. Be aware that you need to walk up several flights of stairs (no elevators in the 1800s) so pack light. Our room was perfect with a big comfy sleigh bed and totally updated bathroom with a luxurious rain shower head and top flight amenities. I believe the hotel is only a few years old and while the building and beautifully creaky floors remind you of its heritage, the rooms have all the modern conveniences. Ours even had a small wet bar, mini fridge, microwave and some wine glasses, plates and bowls. The only drawback is they don't have any parking of their own so you will have to use one of the many nearby garages (we paid $36/night). Highly Recommended.

Yelp
My husband and I made a trip Philly for a Dave Chapelle concert. This location was within a close proximity to the Wells Fargo Arena. It was a subway ride of approximately 10 minutes there and back. The location was safe and there was lots to do around the area, the hosts were amazing and we enjoyed our stay. We would highly recommend.

Yelp
Just had a wonderful stay at the Dwight over the weekend. Our first time. Such a gorgeous property. The unique decor, room amenities were well thought out. Great breakfast too - perfect start to our day. Innkeepers (Vittoria and her husband) were absolutely wonderful - incredibly passionate about what they're doing. It's very hard to consider a regular hotel stay after such an enriching time, especially when you're up for something more personal. I work in the city and know my way around pretty well. You can't beat the location - restaurant options, theatre or simply exploring the surrounding neighborhoods - PERFECT! Park the car once and you're good to go!

Yelp
Wonderful boutique hotel in great location. Walking distance to rittenhouse square, shopping and great restaurants! Victoria and Ken, the owners, are perfect hosts. Very friendly. They have done a wonderful job renovating the building. Rooms are very well done! Bedding was amazing. Great morning coffee.. Loved the outdoor garden where we sat and enjoyed the ambiance. Outdoor heaters provided nice warmth. This was our second stay at the Dwight D. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My family visited Philadelphia last week to check out colleges for our daughter and stayed in this beautiful boutique hotel. This hotel, with is historic architecture and décor, is extremely charming and welcoming. The hotel is conveniently located near restaurants and shopping. The hosts were amazing people who truly cared about making our experience in the city remarkable. The hosts were sweet, polite, generous, and very informative about the city we were visiting. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Yelp
A very pleasant stay. My boyfriend and I came to this lovely hotel. Vittoria and Ken were amazing hosts. Everything was thoughtful and comfortable in our room. Our hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. We loved it.

Yelp
Thank goodness for these lovely people.. long day of travel coming into town for less then 24 hours Victoria and her husband made me feel at home. Recommended a lovely quick dinner next door at Monk's Cafe, highly recommend their French fries (I am a huge critic and these are by far the best) along with their vegan burger. Amazing. Check out came very fast but once again super simply as I had 3 huge overweight suitcases they held them in their offices for me, safe and locked up waiting for me in the AM. The lovely gentlemen carried them out to the street for me as there are only stairs, no elevator (but they make sure that's not a problem). As I had requested an Uber and it was giving me the go around and I was in a rush to a meeting, the owner came out... walked down the block, tracked down a cab, got me a cab in seconds, loaded the car for me. BEYOND THE BEST SERVICE. I will be staying here every time I am in town and will refer all friends & family. Thank you again!!

Yelp
This was the perfect getaway. Booked at The Dwight D last minute for New Years Eve and stayed two nights. Vittoria was very friendly and personable. The hotel was very welcoming, cozy and clean. It was perfect for the two of us. Right in center city, close to shopping, restaurants, bars and Rittenhouse Park. We would love to come back and will be recommending friends and family here. Thank you again Vittoria!!

Yelp
Recently stayed the weekend @ the Dwight D and couldn't have had a more pleasant experience. If you are looking for a bed&breakfast vibe with access to all Philly neighborhoods and attractions, this is your place. Victoria, the owner, was attentive, helpful, energetic and accommodating. It was easy to arrange a late arrival and she even held our luggage on Sunday so we could explore the city before leaving. The building is pre-war/historic/Victorian with very updated amenities and decorating. We loved the soft robes and round stone floored shower. Our room had a balcony that overlooked a courtyard, which was an added bonus. Would recommend to anyone who wants to deviate from the sterile hotel experience. And you can't beat the Dwight Ds location! I hope to be back soon.

Yelp
If you want to stay somewhere that provides quality, compassionate service during unrest among this political climate- this is probably not the place for you. My boyfriend and I stayed here and arrived in Philadelphia on the first day of the George Floyd protests happening. Where we stayed is tucked away into a small road and so we assumed it would be a rather safe, unassuming place to be. We joined the protests in the late afternoon and headed back to the hotel once we witnessed target being broken into. Just to be cautious, we had packed all of our belongings aside from non essentials and left them at the back door. We called the manager of the hotel as there were multiple businesses on fire within five hundred feet of us. This is when we learned that there is no sprinkler system in the three bedroom townhouse. What an amazing amenity! We did get the phone number for one of the employees that lived down the road in case an emergency had happened. We were also offered to have one day free due to us being uncomfortable and to keep us from changing hotels. Turns out packing our bags early was for the best. Around 3:30 AM someone had come to bang on the door and rang the doorbell multiple times. My boyfriend took two minutes to get to the door as he wanted to ensure nobody was inside. However, due to this climate I knew what the knocking and doorbell was for. This is used typically to check for occupants before breaking in and/ or setting a fire. We were not willing to stick around to find out. Of course, 911 did not answer as the entire city surrounding us was lit ablaze. My boyfriend was on the phone with the manager who was more worried about how the back gate would be locked if we left. I was on the phone with my brother who had a similar experience years back. Since we couldn't get to 911 and we weren't sure of what was going to happen- the fire alarm was the only option. Following this was the sweet low volume of the alarm. Just imagine what would have happened if a fire actually WAS set! I can promise you it would certainly not wake you up. I ran back on the perfectly dry (remember there's no sprinkler system in place) floors back to the patio. We grabbed all our things and we had to venture out into the night of Center City during looting and riots. Once we crossed the road we did see that personnel had arrived to our late hotel, appx ten minutes after the fire alarm was activated. Once we arrived to our next hotel only 450 feet away (The Warwick, 10/10 service and care). My boyfriend was on the phone with the manager and had been lectured by her the entire time rather than being helped. The conversation was just about how it would effect her rather than the safety of her tenants. We were entirely horrified for the past half hour as we had essentially evacuated the hotel. Even once we arrived to the Warwick she was still lecturing my boyfriend on the phone. When the phone was handed to her husband the tone changed and we were told we'd be refunded in full for our stay. Turns out there's more than just a lecture in store from this woman. There's also false promises! What a surprise amid the anxiety we had experienced before. We only got back approximately 40% of our money and was hit with a cleaning fee we were never informed of. Get this, she tried to give a snarky attitude in the email telling us this two days after the event. "There was also a good amount of cleaning required given you used both bathrooms and the whole house for just shy of 24 hours." I wasn't aware I wasn't allowed to use the rooms that we paid for. I dearly apologize for the inconvenience. Oh, I'm also sorry I didn't have time to tidy up a couple of cups, plates, and empty the trash can for you while we were under the impression we were in danger! I'll make sure next time I tidy up while there's multiple fires around me. We also had to pay for them to get the fire alarm reset although to me, this sounds more like a business expense than something to put on the backs of tenants who needed help. But oh well. We had a wonderful time and service at the Warwick and honestly, if your main concern is location I'd suggest booking there. They will actually care about their tenants and be able to offer legitimate help if there ever was an emergency. There's a sprinkler system, PA system, and an actual alarm. It was also real nice to have security available rather than essentially being told to hide in this little alleyway and hopefully you'll be fine! Oh yeah and I'm taking money away from you even though I promised a full refund. Otherwise, the rest of our time was wonderful once we weren't staying here.

Yelp
A quaint yet mighty competitor to one of the high end hotels in Center City, the Dwight D. has been beautifully restored and the rooms updated to 2018 guest standards. The owner, Vittoria, and her husband work on site and are helpful and chatty. We enjoyed our stay and will likely be back. Ask Vittoria about restaurant recommendations!

Vic R.

Yelp
About as perfect a stay as possible! Small boutique hotel....rooms gorgeous and spacious! Only a handful of rooms, so you get to know the owners very well Off rittenhouse square, so walkable to restaurants, coffee shops etc Vittoria was amazingly helpful! I recommend this for anyone looking to stay in center city!

Nancy C.

Yelp
I greatly enjoyed my stay at the Dwight D. Vittoria looked after our every need, was enthusiastic and helpful. The hotel is beautifully situated to walk every neighborhood in this terrific city! Vittoria was also immediately helpful to sort out our bill as I'd made reservations for two rooms and my traveling companions wanted to pay for their room separately. Done and Dusted! I was in 3F and the wi-fi didn't extend to that floor. I think the issue is being addressed but you might want to check if this is important to you. I used the downstairs sitting rooms to use the wi-fi...very comfortable and private BUT if you want to use it in your room take a lower floor. The Dwight D is a welcome change from the usual cookie cutter chain hotel experience while having every comfort and having a superior location. I'll return!

Yelp
Third time staying at Dwight D. Perfect location, clean and accommodating. As we were arriving early in the morning arrangements were made with the owners, Vittoria and Ken, for us to check in early. We couldn't be more satisfied with yhe service and hospitality

Robert B.

Yelp
We were three couples visiting Philadelphia from the SF Bay Area and we were thrilled with the accommodations, location and the hospitality of the owners. From the moment we arrived until we departed the experience was wonderful and we would recommend the Dwight D whole heartedly. Thank You Vittoria for making our visit to Philadelphia memorable. Bob, Chris, Bob, Judy, Lolly, Barry. We will never forget you.

Yelp
we had a wonderful time at the Dwight D ($25 overnight parking a few steps away while being in the heart of the city - which is lunacy if you've ever stayed over night in a city) being a few steps away from American history and some of the east coasts most innovative restaurants was a plus! the inn is located in a nondescript brownstone building on a quiet street,it housed modern amenities and hardwood floors that I personally adored(are they original?). the owners were helpful in tips about local attractions and more than welcoming during check in and check out. Everything about the experience at this inn was top notch 10/10 would stay again. looking forward to our next overnight stay at the Dwight D!

Yelp
Great change from the big hotels! The location was great and the host was welcoming and accommodative. Great sized rooms with clean amenities. Will return when in Philly!

Linda L.

Yelp
The Dwight D is by far the coolest place to stay in the city. It is a beautiful old mansion with elegant decor, making you feel as if you are in your own home. The location could not be any better, and the hospitality is outstanding. Will definitely stay again!

Yelp
I visited Philadelphia for the first time last weekend (April) and loved the city, so I'll definitely go back to visit. And when I go back, I'll only stay at The Dwight D. It's in such a perfectly charming location, so we never had to venture far. But if we did, nothing was too far of a walk. The hotel itself is so beautiful and quaint. Our room (2R on the second floor) was gorgeous, comfortable, and had a lovely balcony. This was a couple's getaway, so I found the room very romantic and cozy. This was honestly a wonderful experience, and the owner, Vittoria, was really helpful and friendly. Anytime we needed something to make our stay more comfortable (wine glasses, etc.), she was more than happy to hook us up. And when I was looking to book a room in the first place, Vittoria was extremely responsive. That's great hospitality! I think this is the perfect place, but I don't want everyone to know because, again, I won't stay anywhere else in Philly if I can help it. That said, I can't recommend it enough and am very grateful for the memorable experience.

Linda M.

Yelp
Love the central location with a neighborhood atmosphere. We walked or took the bus (which caters to tourists) everywhere. Owner/hotel manager was so gracious, friendly, and helpful. She met us at the front door and immediately began making recommendations and answering questions we had about the entire city! She even called friends of hers to find out further information regarding our explorations. Our room was large and comfortable with three large windows overlooking 16th street. We are glad we could enjoy this fine example of Philadelphia's historic architecture.

Linda M.

Yelp
Please be very careful when choosing the Dwight D. I made a reservation to stay there for one night during a conference. It was a horrible decision. Five days before the conference I noticed that my fully paid reservation had been refunded. This was later followed by an email from the owner Vittoria. Vittoria said she was sorry but that she had miscalculated the number of guests at the Dwight D and that she needed my room for another guest. When I told her that there were no other rooms available in the city of Philadelphia because of a large convention, she told me to look across the river for a room in New Jersey! I now will have to cancel my attendance at the conference because of her oversight. Vittoria has very poor customer service and math skills. Do not book a room at the Dwight D.

Minnie K.

Yelp
Loved the location of The Dwight D.! It is surrounded by many cafes and restaurants, which are all walking distance from the hotel. Very safe neighborhood. The hotel is very comforting and has modern amenities. The host Vittoria and her husband are super friendly and they have great knowledge of Philadelphia. Amazing stay!
