Best gay bar in town! It is always a fun time at Eagle, and definitely a safe environment for the LGBTQ+ community. Very cosmopolitan, open crowd. It is very easy to meet new interesting people. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Try the Long Islands if you go there! Definitely was my go-to bar when I lived in Auckland. Much better than across the road!

The atmosphere is really good, as well as the service. Overall a great experience, and definitely a safe space for lgbtq.

There is really nowhere to talk you will be yelling at your mates ...fun of you drunk not a good catch up bar... The back speaker doesn't need to be that loud 🔊

I love this place. Thursday karaoke is so much fun. The vibes on the weekend are amazing. The staff are friendly, Mo is my favourite, he is friendly. I would highly recommend it.

It wasn't very bust when we went, thought perhaps the barkeeper would be happy to have a customer, but didn't smile or greet us. Beers we very good. Clean environment and fun mix of music.

It is still my go to, better than Family Bar and G.A.Y. Atmosphere is okay but I am confused with my drinks I bought for the last 2 weekends. Some of your staff is charging $2 to add juice to the Long Island Ice Tea and some is not added the extra $2. Need to make sure they are in the same page or customers can ask and it comes out as confrontion...

Visited on a quiet Friday evening/night to just relax and have a few beers. The on tap draughts tasted great and were reasonably priced.

Yelp
If work takes me into the upper Queen St/ K road area, The Eagle Bar has everything I need to unwind at 6 pm. It's a quirky little bar that flaunts cringe worthy 90's hits out into K rd with reckless disdain. If you don't tap your feet to the music all the way to the bar, you're sure to catch yourself mumbling the chorus of the song. Cheap beer, cozy seats, music video clips to cringe and reminisce and friendly staff. While the bar only offers hot nuts to nibble on, the staff happily offered to collect hot chips from a near-by store if I needed. Eagle Bar caters to groups and, while I have seen fun dress-up parties and stag nights here, you can still converse without shouting (until it gets a bit later in the evening). There is even a piano and a Mona Lisa that adds to this distinctive bar without feeling forced and tacky.

Yelp
Eagle Bar has always been a puzzling one to me - it's small, it's gaudy, it's oh-so-gay but simultaneously not advertising of the fact... and it's always, always packed. Eagle has managed to make a name for itself as the gay bar you go to when you don't want to deal with the likes of Family Bar. This is a fair enough call - Family Bar has its place, but it shouldn't have a monopoly on patrons on the strip, and it doesn't cater to everyone. In my experience, Eagle Bar is the place to go if you want to be able to see and hear the person you're talking to - it's a great place to meet friends and a great way to end your night. If you can see past the gaudiness and suck in the charm, you'll love Eagle Bar.

Yelp
Not as outrageous as some of K-Road but still lively enough to be worth going to late at night. Unusual decor with a well stocked corner bar and leather couch seating along wooden panelled walls. The real clincher though is the smashing selection of tea pots high up on the walls on shelves, I still don't really get that. Great bar staff who are always smiling and welcoming plus they can pour a decent pint. As with most on K-Road, it attracts some colourful characters, but that's part of the reason we all come out here, isn't it? Don't bother going before 11pm on Friday or Saturday or you will be all on your lonesome. After 11 the temperature and crowd begins to build and if you have been going since early on in the day, a bit of wild dancing is encouraged.

Yelp
I visited here for a drink before an event at the Studio on a Thursday night, so it was really quiet. It seemed like most people were lining up outside The Studio, but I don't really do lines if I can help it, so decided getting a drink was a better option. All of this meant we had the jukebox (it's on the wall, not a proper retro one) almost to ourselves which meant it was extra fun. Lots of Lady Gaga music ensued and maybe some Beyonce? I like to think the bartender was loving it. Pretty sure I saw him dropping some moves behind the bar! This is nice and relaxed in the early evening; I'm not able to give an opinion on how it gets as the night goes on!

Yelp
Absolutely love this place, best bar to kick back and chill out during the day or party at during the dark hours, best bar staff too, very friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Such awesome service from Kurt the night we visited! Really chilled out atmosphere for the late afternoon crowd. Drinks were delicious and well priced. Nothing bad to say about it!

Yelp
Classic gay bar on k road. Good cocktails. The jukebox is a great thing. It gets busy after 9 pm on weekends. Conveniently located in front of the only gay club in town, family bar.
