This historic & elegant hotel delivered on location, hospitality, and charm. From the moment you arrive you know this property is something special, and the staff go above and beyond to ensure your comfort and enjoyment during your stay. From the 24/7 complimentary snack lounge, to the gorgeous shaded lap pool, to the beautiful central courtyards steeped in history, everything was pristine. It also helps that the hotel’s location is central and you can easily walk to almost any spot in Georgetown (and highly recommend following the staff’s recommendations on places to check out- they ended up being some of our favorites!) 10/10.

We stayed 6 nights at that wonderful hotel. We had planned the break as party of a birthday celebration and opportunity to unwind.|We arrived very late on New Year’s Eve and met by lovely staff who gave us a brief introduction to the hotel and most importantly when breakfast was.||We had a lovely large room, great air conditioning and comfortable bed.||The breakfast is just what you need and access to snacks and drinks through the day gives you a chance to meet other travellers and cool down after walking around the streets.||The hotel team have great experience and knowledge of the area so do ask for recommendations whether it’s food/drinks or sightseeing related. There are amazing restaurants for lunch and dinner all around. ||All in all I could not recommend this hotel enough.

The Edison is well located, there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, along with so many of the local historic buildings close by. The Jetty's are about a 20 minute walk away and you can look at a lot of the local street art on route. Albert and his team were friendly and very helpful, with so much knowledge of the area.|The hotel itself is a beautiful colonial style building with a lot of the original features. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Considering the night market is over the road I found the hotel far quieter than I had expected. The bed was really comfortable with soft pillows. The bathroom area was well stocked with amenities, the shower was spacious with ample hot water.|The stairs are quite steep and there isn't a lift, but the front of house staff are happy to carry your bags up and down for you.|The breakfast area is modern without it having an impact on the charm of the hotel. There is a good choice of breakfast, scrambled eggs and toast, pastries, cereal, the local nasi lemak and the homemade jams and coconut jam are a must try! The coffee is really good and snacks and coffee are served all day in the breakfast area.|At 6pm you are welcome to join the wine hour for free, were you will be served with a glass of red or white wine along with some cheese, nuts and friendly chatter.|I'm really glad I wasn't put off staying here from reviews complaining about the noise as this really had little or no impact on my stay, which exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Our family group of 6 stayed at the Edison for 3 nights. It was a terrific stay from the moment we arrived - which was very late to a warm and helpful welcome through to the very helpful Albert who provided some very delicious restaurant recommendations that were really awesome. The hotel provides free tea coffee soft drinks and a number of snacks all throughout the day and a complimentary glass of wine at the end of the day that is all very welcome. Albert also arranged our transport onto the Cameron Highlands including sometime taking in the sights of Ipoh on the way. The driver was excellent and Albert’s food recommendation for Ipoh was yet another delicious Malaysian treat. I would strongly recommend the Edison for a great stay well located for any visitors to Penang.

Stayed 2 nights over New Year Eve! We were so impressed with the impeccable service from Albert, the operating manager to all of his team. The room is spacious with high ceiling and top quality furnishings. Love snack room where we came back for a drink after a day of exploring Georgetown and wine and cheese hour. It’s really 5* hotel with 5+* service! We already recommended this hotel to friends! We had a pleasure of meeting Edison’s founder and learned from him the history and the renovation project! Thanks Eddy!🙏

The success of a hotel is their ability to alter a guests initial frustraions. After some arrival and first night housekeeping issues, Albert the OM of The Edison Georgetown, was able to rectify them quickly, which allowed a better experience- one that was expected for a property on this level. Albert was fantastic and resourceful in ensuring all went well during the 5 night stay. Restaurant/cafe staff is very professional and well trained. Attentive and kind. Kelvin and Lingesh were also pro-active and patient. The hotel is aware of what can be improved and trust they are continuing to work on this. Breakfast is one of them. A bit limited and bare for a 5 day stay. Would like to see fresher product and less packaged -processed offerings. It's Malaysia/Penang and there's no reason to not have fresh juices, more fruit selection, or plain yogurt. Basics like these. More than just eggs from the kitchen. More attention to housekeeping is needed. Clean over all but some of the details are missing. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.. Bathrooms are large. Bed was perfect. AC amazing. A lovely room to return to after touring the city. What I liked most about the property was the serenity once you enter. One could hang out the entire day between the room, various guest spaces, and/or the lovely pool.

We recently stayed at this stunning hotel in the heart of George Town for our honeymoon, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the breathtaking architecture that seamlessly blends modern design with the rich history of the area. The hotel’s commitment to conservation is evident and in excellent taste, making it a perfect reflection of the unique charm of George Town. The location couldn’t be better—right in the middle of everything, with easy access to local attractions, shops, and restaurants. The amenities were fantastic. A 24/7 snack bar and fridge ensured we were never without a treat or refreshment. The pool was a relaxing oasis, and there were plenty of cozy spots around the property to sit and unwind. Our room was spacious, impeccably furnished, and designed with comfort and style in mind. What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff. Incredibly friendly and always willing to go the extra mile, they offered excellent recommendations for dining and activities. Every suggestion we tried was spot on, from delicious restaurants to a great massage spot. The security guard at the gate was a delightful presence, greeting us with a big smile and wave every time we came or went. The staff also went above and beyond to make our honeymoon extra special. They surprised us with a celebratory cake—a thoughtful gesture that made us feel so welcome and cared for. We only wish we could have stayed longer! This hotel was everything we could have hoped for and more. If you’re planning a trip to George Town, we highly recommend staying here—you won’t be disappointed.

Nice enough hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Pretty exterior and lobby. Clean and well located.||However poor breakfast — very few options; not up to standard to be expected for price. |Needs to either have a proper al a carte ordered breakfast or complete buffet.
