I had no idea what to expect at The Edison, as I'd never been inside the space, nor had I pre-browsed the menu. I was excited to go blindly into this brand new restaurant!
We had a group of six on a Friday night, in which we were sure to book a reservation ahead of time. I'm glad we did because the place was full when we arrived. Our party was sat towards the back in a large, round booth that was quite cozy. I liked how the booths all along the perimeter are all raised up higher that then seating in the middle of the restaurant. Initial overall vibes: a great atmosphere. Certainly more upscale and sophisticated. Very well designed and decorated.
We were not long greeted by a friendly waitress. She gave us a nice intro the menu, shared the appetizer special and took our drink orders. It was cocktails all around, and they did end up taking quite a long time to make it to our table. With the place being so new, I'd imagine they're ironing out some kinks. I was the only one who had a spirt-free cocktail and it wasn't my favorite. Not really worth the $10 price, a similar price to the cocktails that actually have alcohol in them. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their drinks (minus the espresso martini that could use an upgrade).
For apps we shared baked truffle cheese spread, pigs in a blanket, and the shrimp special. All were throughly enjoyable and packed with flavor. My fave was probably the cheese spread.
I opted for the risotto main and added scallops. This dish was a WIN! Absolutely loved the combined herbs, lemon and mushroom flavors. The whole thing has a perfectly creamy consistency. Plus, the scallops were cooked just right! Various other entrees were ordered at the table, included the lobster pasta, chicken, and Edison hero (aka prime rib). The one suggestion that came up was noting on the menu that the Edison Hero is indeed made into a sandwich. All around thumbs up from everyone though!
