We just finished a three-day stay at the Editory House in Porto, and I was thoroughly impressed. The location is excellent, with the riverfront just steps away. Every member of the staff we interacted with was friendly and helpful, and made us feel at home. The hotel itself is modern on the inside and very thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail. It’s clear that a LOT of thought went into to the design and decor. Our room was on the small side, but was so carefully designed that everything just worked and it seemed bigger than it was. Our room faced an inner courtyard so that we had outside light but we were shielded from street noise. Some rooms do face the street, those may be noisier though I should add that the windows are solid and seal well. The only negative (and this feels like a nitpick) is that the refrigerator in our room was tucked into a cabinet with no ventilation, so it didn’t cool effectively. I propped open the cabinet door and the fridge worked much better that way.

Fantastic hotel right in the heart of Porto! Very convenient! Lovely room, very comfortable and clean. Breakfast there was delicious and nicely done! If you have a hard time with street noise make sure you ask for a room not facing the street, if possible. Staff there were truly so helpful and nice. Would absolutely stay there again- wonderful experience!

Fantastic location really close to the riverside areas at the Douro bridge. Staff were superb, really helpful as I needed information on getting the train to Lisbon. Rooms overlooking the street do have traffic noise so best to ask for a room at the back. Will definitely stay here again. Room spotlessly clean and bed very comfortable.

Stayed here for a 3 day mini break. It's very well located in the old town. Our room was towards the back, which was perfect. I would think front facing rooms would be quite noisy.|The room was very clean, as was the shower (no mould at all). Bed was 2 singles pushed together which suited us. They were very comfortable.|Staff were very helpful and friendly |Breakfast is standard continental buffet but very good. Only complaint was the hot food (scrambled egg etc) was not replenished when empty. Often had to wait, but staff apologetic and even brought the food to us once cooked.|Not brilliant for my Coeliac wife, but she managed

The Editory was a great spot for our group of friends to stay. It is conveniently centrally located and recently renovated. The rooms are well-priced and the staff was very helpful. We were drawn by the pool - which served its purpose to keep us cool - but flagging that is it a small courtyard pool that can fill with guests easily. Most of us had light-filled rooms that faced out on the main square - I'd request rooms with this view.

The hotel is ideally placed to access the waterfront which fairly buzzes with tourist. Porto is hilly and walking up to the top can be a challenge if you have walking difficulties. We stayed for 4 nights and were greeted warmly late in the evening after a late flight. Normally guests are offered a port wine and pastry on arrival but it was too late for ours and when we did have it later, it was barely a mouthful and a taste of wine.|Our room 211 was a strange mixture of columns and doors, perfectly clean if a bit noisy. I am not sure if the others were like ours, but quirky might describe it. You could only plug in equipment under desk by laying flat and feeling your way in.|Switching on the lighting was interesting and there seemed be an over complex switch system. Possibly to discourage anyone over the age of 65 from using it…The shower was fine except that it had a life of its own and kept dropping out of the bracket and then spraying everywhere.|Breakfast was adequate in what seemed like the school assembly room and small plates were there, possibly to discourage gluttony but they were fine for us. The staff were all excellent and helpful. We would stay here again although a less quirky room would help.

Amazing location and staff. The building is old so the room layouts are not standard and can be kind of unique. The staff provided excellent recommendations for restaurants and were very professional. One minor note is there is no ice available.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Editory. |A lovely hotel situated in a good spot 5mins walk from the Douro River & 10 mins walk from the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge. Most of the other city centre attractions are all within 15/20 mins walking distance.|The Editory is very contemporary and has a lovely informal atmosphere.|The decor reflects the city's unique personality and culture with design blending both vintage & antique decor with hints of modern, urban touches.|Our room was a standard but was well kitted out with coffee/tea making facilities, air-conditioning, an iron, hairdryer, TV, safe & we where fortunate to have a small balcony overlooking the main road. No furniture on it but interesting to watch the world below us walk past.|The Editory has a lift available also.|We stayed on a B&B basis with breakfast being good with a choice of hot & cold foods.|Staff were warming & always happy to help. 'Riu' in particular who explained in detail of what Porto had to offer.|He booked a cultural 'fado' experience for us which was excellent.|Most day trips Porto can offer can be booked at the reception at cost price.|We booked the city tour bus & a river cruise which were both good.|The Editory is situated on a busy road so traffic noise can be a issue. Easy to cross it to get to the river side due to a couple of pedestrian crossings & the traffic slow moving with the very courteous drivers letting you cross.|The Editory id a excellent choice for a short city break & suited all our needs. |We would have no history book again.
