The Elgin Darjeeling is undoubtedly a stunning property with lovely rooms and an atmosphere that transports you to a bygone era. The views are breathtaking, and the décor exudes charm and elegance, making it an ideal retreat in the hills.
However, my experience with the check-in staff and those at the counters was extremely disappointing. Despite confirming our attic room booking, the staff managed to mix it up and gave it away to another family who had overstayed. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, they fed us a convoluted excuse about "confusion from their website." When we requested to speak with the manager, they blatantly ignored us, leaving us feeling dismissed and undervalued as guests.
It’s a shame that such a beautiful property is let down by incompetent and rude staff. While the location and ambience are top-notch, the poor service has left a bitter taste, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend what could otherwise have been a wonderful stay.
