The Elgin Fairlawn - Kolkata - Heritage Hotel (Since 1783)

One of the heritage grade 1 property of Kolkata. Falls under the prestigious Elgin group of hotels. we have also visited and stayed at their Pelling property.||The decoration is aesthetic, beautifully crafted nostalgia placed all around. Soothing for your eyes and time to relax and let the clock stop ticking forward.||We had our brunch over here, the food was good and served well. Enjoyed it.

We had the most unforgettable wedding reception at the Elgin Fairlawn, and it was the perfect venue for our celebration! The team, especially Ms. Subrata Nandy and Mr. Oberoi, ensured everything was flawlessly organized, from the stunning decorations to addressing every concern we had. All our guests stayed on the property for four days and were absolutely charmed by the beautiful heritage rooms. Beautiful colonial building, very central but needs a lot of updating. We were in room 19 n the shower does not have a good flow n the towels provided are thread bare. Staff are mostly obliging except for a few who have a don’t care attitude . Food is ok. Nothing to write home about. Value for money - nil|Will I stay here again- no . Will try another hotel

It was a delight to stay at Fairlawns again, I last stayed 27years ago and can say that it has not lost any of its charm. A haven amid the chaos that is Kolkata.|The facilities have improved and there is further work to be done but this does not detract from the beauty of the place.|We found all staff to be very polite and helpful, nothing was too much for them

I am always very happy to come to the Elgin hotel! The service is nice and fast, they help you with everything. The reception employees always have good recommendations, what to see and visit. It’s a very nice and cozy hotel with great food. Would recommend 100%!

The rooms need work. Location is superb and the old world feel is on point. Be sure you book the first floor rooms. They are larger and better.

Basically me and my colleague stayed there for 5 days. Initial plan was to stay for two days but then we extend it to total 5. Overall it was a nice experience. The room was well decorated. The receptionist was very humble and nice guy. The room service was decent. However the dining was something that they really need to work on. I would say it was not a good experience with their dinning options. They offer buffet breakfast and mostly it was continental one. The first day was good but after that it was completely mess. On third day they fell short to refill the empty food containers. When you're offering buffet this is a common thing to handle. In fact you should put that on top of your checklist while offering buffet. On the last day, i think they had a reservation for some weeding and they didn't offer buffet. Instead they were taking orders.And they took so long to serve that we had to cancel our orders as we're getting late for our flight. What does that mean, I should not visit your place when you gonna have reservation? Or i will not get the best service during reservation? Come on. We checked in very late, despite of that there were no slippers in the room. There were no foot towels. We had to make a call to get them. But having said that, apart from the dining experience I would love to stay there again. The place is really nice and quiet. The service was really good.
