The Elphinstone Hotel

Booked very last minute but got a good deal Inc breakfast. |Was in room 2 above the bar on a Saturday night, so some noise later on but nothing unexpected. |I’ve seen reviews about new decor but I think room 2 is an older one. It felt abit dated and was very simple. |Has everything you need though although the mattress was very hard. |Room was clean and warm. Bathroom was small but had all the essentials. Great shower, really hot. Unfortunately the shower head needs a good clean. |Breakfast was hot and fresh. Really good value. |Overall I would use again if in biggar just a small cleanliness issue in bathroom, staff were polite though, no complaints.

My family and I had the best stay here. The family room is perfect, comfortable and very clean. We stopped for one night and also for dinner in the evening. Both dinner and breakfast were fantastic. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. It really is a beautiful place and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Absolute gem of a find!! We stayed here for one night and everything was perfect. The staff were welcoming & friendly throughout our stay. Nothing too much trouble, very attentive. Check in was easy and we had a great sized room with lovely new decor in keeping with the style of the hotel and a fantastic en suite. We also had a meal in the restaurant which was delicious. The hotel is in the process of being upgraded and while some areas have been done already, there's bit that are still dated but seeing past that as a work in progress, this place is fantastic. Very busy for both meals and drinks while we were there.

Myself and my partner were travelling from Edinburgh to Manchester and we decided to stop for something to eat. I must say, we were very lucky to find this place. Staff were friendly, the restaurant itself was very clean and the food was absolutely amazing!! We would definitely recommend this place!

The revamped 'Elph' is a huge improvement but still has a long way to go. The current menu has something for everyone and we all enjoyed what we had in general but we were not 'blown away by the quality. It was a nice enough meal and we will return at some point. The event was let down by the serving staff who really had no interest in serving, never asked if we wanted more drinks, waitress with nails so long that she could'nt work the 'computry thing' or pick or stuff from the table !! It was an OK evening meal :-(

I had a wedding at Cornhill and I stayed here for two nights. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Spacious room with good size bathroom. Excellent breakfast and a nice bar. Very competitive rates. I would stay again.

This is a review for the Elph bar. We stopped for a quick drink. The beer and cider were ice cold and the lady who served us was very friendly. Sure is a great place to have a drink! Oh, and it has a nice rooftop beer garden.

Another excellent stay, great wee hotel and loved the refurb, very stylish. We had a refurbished room and loved everything about it. Bed super comfy, great shower and excellent breakfast. After a hike was so lovely to sit in sunny beer garden...we'll definitely be back as we love Biggar and beautiful area.
