The Eltermere Inn

My favourite part of the world. Very special. Beautiful buildings with beautiful decor. Attention to detail. Each bedroom is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Food is exceptional and the staff are professional, very friendly and you are always greeted with a smile. You feel very special when you stay here and I'm really looking forward to staying again soon.

Popped in today on the off chance of getting a roast dinner, did not book. It was close to the end of service and they kindly accommodated us and our dog. The Sunday Roast (both had lamb) was absolutely the best roast dinner either of us have ever had out. Very generous meat portion and beautifully cooked, with such tasty sides! 10/10 recommend.

Friendly staff on arrival , lovely meal in bar and great barman who we understand to be fairly new. Decor a bit tired but cozy enough. But beware bar closes before the 10.30 time it’s meant to so we missed out on a night cap after we got back from a concert. Management not so user friendly on departure which left us feeling non plussed especially as we wanted to arrange a revisit with the family.

We have stayed here twice now and have had a lovely time on both occasions. Food is excellent and the hotel is a cosy retreat in our favourite part of the lake district. Looking forward to going again in the future.

A wonderful place with excellent service. Josh was first class. The food was high quality and the presentation and attention to detail superb. Only gripe…room was small but we did go for the basic so next time we will aim higher. Coffee probably needs upgrading but small detail in a very lovely experience .

I have eaten food at Eltermere Inn for 13 years. Every meal has been delicious. Last Sunday we dropped in for lunch. The starters (Beef Scotch Egg and Fishcake) were exceptional. Our main course of roast lamb was perfectly cooked and presented, and the attention to detail and variety of vegetables was perfect and delicious - roast potatoes, steamed kale, tenderstem broccoli and sugar snap peas, creamed leeks, honey roast parsnips, savoy cabbage with pancetta. Served in their spacious, peaceful dining room with lovely views ... It's the perfect sunday lunch, go enjoy.

This is my third visit to the Eltermere Inn but sadly the worst. The staff were very stretched and probably lacking two extra bodies. ||As a result service was very very slow. Additionally several wine choices were not available as well as a couple of menu choices.I should make it clear that the food was very good when it arrived and the staff were apologetic about the speed of delivery.||Sadly it leaves me wondering if I will return again.

If I could give more than 5 stars on each section I would. Many thanks to Clint who was front of house and his customer service was exemplary. Amazing rooms and great food. This place is a hidden gem away from the hustle. Ruby was also a pleasure to meet, could not do enough for you. The team are the reason we will be coming back. One of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Well done guys you’ve gained some loyal customers. The Lingmoor room is by far our favorite. See you soon and many thanks.

We visited this lovely English pub for lunch. The views around the property are magical, the drive from Ambleside was lovely. A large wood fire was burning when we arrived. The lunch menu was very good, with usual and unusual dishes on offer, all nicely cooked and presented. Local beers are on tap, as well as a solid little wine list to choose from. This is a family-run operation, where you are made to feel at home, service is professional enough and friendly. Nice place to relax, unwind.
