What a wonderful experience. My wife and I had two fantastic weeks here in September, we were so very impressed.||The Room|We stayed in the one bedroom villa, large comfortable area, for two people, spacious lounge with a table and two chairs plus two couches, very comfortable. Large bed and bedroom. There is a good wifi, wifi that is only for the room, not shared and worked very well. Outside in the villa, the pool area is so private, walls all the way round, shrubs and trees. A double sunbed is comfy. What is so good is you lock the door to the whole villa, put the do not disturb sign up, you can sit, sunbath swim in perfect privacy. We asked for a sunny villa and it’s fairly good, from about 10am to 2.30pm. You don’t have to see another person until you want to. We had to report the aircon unit in the bedroom for dripping or not working several times, the hotel were so efficient, there in minutes and sorted it out. The staff are exceptional, ultimately friendly, cannot be more friendly or helpful, up there as the best we have come across on our travels. Could it be improved? not by much, maybe the grey concrete on the wall around the pool could be painted, a small table and chairs so you could eat outside, the shrubs cut back a little bit, but minimal things. ||Food|Breakfast is good, we had it in the main restaurant every day. We would have liked a floating one, in the villa pool, however, you couldn’t guarantee a sunny morning when we were there and it wouldn’t be great in the pool first thing otherwise. You pay £25 for the floating tray, but it’s free to have the same breakfast on an ordinary tray delivered to the room. The floating one has to be ordered the day before, that’s before you know what the weather is going to do , so you could be wasting your money. There is a breakfast menu, with pancakes, all types of eggs plus bacon an option. Definitely recommend a banana juice , basically smoothie. We ordered a pizza for lunch to the room, very good. Definitely recommend the ribs, very tasty, quite a large portion. What might work better than floating breakfast might be floating champagne afternoon tea when the weather is known and settled. ||Surrounds|About a ten minute walk to the beach, turn right out of the entrance and then right again following the signs to sunset beach. Sitting on a bean bag at a beach bar, on the beach, cold beer, watching the sun go down is one of life’s great experiences. The roads are not roads, one track walkways wide enough for one car only. The town is actually only 7 walk minutes away, using the path next to the coffee shop, put the bar called Nirvana into google maps. Cash exchange , turn right, is about 100 yards away. As a hint only use cash exchange shops that are proper shops not the ones down side streets. Use it in working finance hours, the rate is good, better than the UK by a lot, but they lower it at night and weekends, hence working hours. There is a supermarket 100 yards away, snacks and beer, two large Binteng 82,000, just under £4. ||Spa in the hotel|Fantastic, this is a great experience. Wonderful massage done in such a professional way. It’s a real must do whilst there. ||Trips|We did two, and they are great. The island is fabulous and very photogenic, get out enjoy the sights, the people, the food. ||This is a brilliant central location, giving privacy, wonderful comfort, yet close enough to go to the beach for sunset, to the town for entertainment and food, all of which is amazing. The shops are fantastic. Bali baby, wonderful holiday, one of life’s great experiences and the Elysian really is the best way to do it.
