Stayed here a couple of weeks ago for 5 days. We usually stay in Sliema in the Autumn, but decided to try Valletta for winter break (a bit rainy unfortunately!). The Embassy is very well-located, right in the centre, in a pedestrianised area, which means a cab can only deliver you to a block away - only 30m or so to walk though. We had room on the 6th floor - I'd recommend asking for a high-up room, as it is the views that constitute one of this hotel's USPs. The corridors are light and airy, lifts efficient, and public areas well-appointed. Our room was large, with a small balcony - good view across to Sliema and of the city - with a decent bathroom, which seemed to have a rather feeble extractor - leaving it feeling a bit 'damp'. It was December though, and cold and wet outside by Malta standards. Lighting, TV and bed were all of a high standard - not always the case, even in top-class hotels.|The bar/restaurant is on the top floor, with superb views, and a super heated roof-top pool, open quite late, even in Winter - a real plus. We only had breakfast (fine) up there, so cannot review the restaurant otherwise. It has large windows (not south-facing fortunately), and one hopes the air-con is effective in Summer! The high-floor rooms are fairly quiet, though it was the Winter, and it is certainly worth asking for daily cleaning (some hotels tend to skip this for 'green' reasons - extraordinary!), and towel changes. There was a jolly guest reception one evening, and also vouchers for free drinks in the rooftop bar one night - all nice touches. |The Embassy did not seem too expensive for a smart hotel in a wealthy European capital city (we booked direct), though it looks as though it would be quite a bit pricier in say, May, obviously.|Will certainly consider staying here again when next in Malta.
