The Emily Morgan San Antonio - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel

I just want to provide a kudos to two of your employees: Monica in the bar at the Emily Morgan was fantastic! Truly the full embodiment of what you want in an employee! Also, Reuben (I think that’s it) at the front desk was terrific. He seemed new but he had a problem solving attitude and wanted to serve the customer. Again, exactly how a service worker should be. Two thumbs up for both of them. They are keepers! ||Also, I love this hotel. It’s perfect for three reasons: (1) it’s old-school, Texas nice and warm; (2) it’s got easy street parking (cheap); and (3) it’s got a great location next to the Alamo and the river walk. As an added plus, the cookies are great and free!

Rudy made our stay! … rm 205. Great view of the Alamo. Room was clean. Value was solid. Our second night of the stay, I was halfway expecting the front desk to blow off my request for the little two bottle of water bag or a subsequent night request for a cookie… Not only did he hand me the bag of water (I know… I drive a hard bargain here)… but the cookies weren’t cooking yet due to the event down stairs. He took note there were four in our party- and brought them up to our room. Warm and mushy right from the oven. Shouldn’t have eaten 310 calories that late- but darn they were amazing. And Rudy… Thank you! A quite convincing story to happily consider the Emily Morgan for any stays in San Antonio!

I stayed here for one night on a work trip. The location is directly across the street from the Alamo. - The front desk staff was incredibly attentive from the moment I walked in the door and throughout the duration of my stay. They were attentive and responsive, regardless of the time of day. - Renovations took place more than a decade ago, so the aesthetic of the rooms does feel a bit dated, but it is still very comfortable. - The on-site restaurant serve adequate food. Because the location and additional fees the costs are a bit expensive, but that is to be expected. Additionally, service quality varies. Dinner arrived to my room within 20 minutes of ordering. Breakfast the following morning, however, took more than double that time. Thankfully, I had a little bit of flex time in the morning otherwise I would’ve had to cancel the order altogether and get breakfast somewhere else. - My room was on the 14th floor and my thermostat was non functional as my heat never came on. That said, however, hotel did provide two space heaters. Why it’s not my preferred method of warming a room when I am paying for a hotel, they were effective for warming my space.

My first stay at this historic hotel was absolutely fabulous! Check in went smoothly and I appreciated the cookies and water. The room was beautiful and clean with plenty of hot water. The only issue I had was the air conditioner. It definitely needs servicing as the room felt cool but humid no matter how l adjusted the thermostat and it made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. Other than that I loved my stay and will definitely stay there again.

Update. Hotel bill is paid in full, but I STILL have a $1300 hold from a week ago. why if the bill had been paid, is there a hold on your end? Response was, the hold will be lifted 3 days after stay, then 3-5 day and now 5-7 and now 5-10 days...... the goal post keeps moving, the run around is always fun. *** I had funds placed on hold for the room. I was double "charged" $1,300, $1,300 and additional hold of $476. We checked out early so now I have a $1,300 hold and paid $910 [ bill for shortened stay]. We checked out on Sunday and this is Tuesday, with still no response from manager, and funds still locked up. Do better

We visited the Emily Morgan for quick two day pre-holiday outing. We were looking forward to our stay and we each have wanted to visit the Emily Morgan for years but something always kept us from doing so. It appealed to us because of its historic nature, the notable architecture, and—of course—its great location in the heart of downtown.||We really wanted to give the Emily Morgan four or five stars, but in the end the minor or little shortcomings kept us at 3. The good is very good, and that is the staff. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, professional, service-oriented, and went above and beyond to make guest experiences top-notch. The location, as stated, can’t be beat. Literally next-door to the Alamo and all the great restaurants and watering holes on Houston Street are a short walk, as are the numerous entries to the Riverwalk. ||The Hotel’s public areas were brightly decorated for Christmas, which was a nice touch. But here is where those little shortcomings made a difference. The interior of the Emily Morgan looks “tired,” sorta like a Grand Dame who is showing her age and tries hard to cover up but misses some spots. I would say the same for the rooms. We stayed in a Junior Suite and the room was large and mostly fine, but just had some blemishes (for example, the jetted tub’s jets did not work) and the lighting was off. ||In the end, the stay was fine but the Emily Morgan likely just needs a bit of a retrofit to return to its former glory.

I can't say enough about the hospitality we receive at the Emily Morgan hotel. I begin with Johnny. Johnny is always hospitable, and takes great care with the details of our stay. He genuinely cares about all the hotel guest. I have seen him take the time to greet guest and give them his personal attention. He is always taking care of whatever is needed at the Emily, no matter the task. At the front desk we are greeted by Caleb. He always greets us with a great big smile. He has such a wonderful positive attitude. Ellie, at breakfast, was such a delight. She took the time to ask about our stay. Monica at the bar was very sweet and seemed genuinely interested in how our stay was going. My husband and I recommend the Emily Morgan to everyone we know, because of the great care we receive each and everytime we stay here. Johnny, Caleb, Ellie, and Monica are a true asset to this hotel.
