We'd passed The Empanada Kitchen the day before and vowed to try one of their empanadas before we left Queenstown. It's a tiny little storefront that's nestled in between the public toilets on Beach Street. You can't miss it.
We dropped by on a Friday afternoon (around 2:00pm). The little storefront is super cute along with it's merchandise (hats, t-shirt, bag and sauces/oils). The lady working was very friendly and exuberant.
Menu is short and sweet. Four different types of empanadas. It seems like one changes daily (beef blue & stout wasn't there the following day).
- Mince 3 cheeses ($6.00 NZD) - mince angus beef, roasted peppers, brie, parmesan and mozzarella. The minced beef was well seasoned, flavourful and maintained a good texture. The dough has an excellent crispy bite. Not sure how but they even manage to stencil Empanada Kitchen on the fold.
Perfect little snack while you walk around the wharf or Queenstown's CBD. Great quality.
