The Empress Chiang Mai Hotel

We arrived a few hours before check-in because of our flight, so we had to wait a little. However, we were eventually given our room earlier than expected, and the front desk also gave us a small gift, a bag of snacks and bottled water. The hotel is located on a side street off the main road, very quiet and clean. It is close to the Chabad House and suitable for Shabbat. The room was very clean. The water pressure in the shower/bathtub is very good and there is hot water, but the water drained slowly, so you end up standing in the shower water about 10cm the during the shower. The Wi-Fi needs improvement because it is weak. The tourist advisory staff at the entrance were very kind and generous, we really liked them. They helped us plan activities all around Chiang Mai, with pick-up from the hotel and drop-off back at the hotel.

Very good stay at this old charming property. Service was attentive and helpful. Rooms are super spacious, clean and with all the amenities. Aircon is not the most quiete and room soundproofing can be improved. Overall a very good value for money. Pool is big. Location is very convenient. Breakfast is basic.

We enjoyed our stay very much. From the moment we arrived the staff was very helpful, warm and welcoming. We received a welcome bag with wonderful treets. Our room was upgraded to a suite without us knowing/asking. The dining area and food were amazing. The housekeeping staff did a wonderful job of making the room clean and always providing water and filling the coffee corner. We will definitely return and reconmend this hotel

The Empress is very well kept and clean and the staff are all very polite and always smiling. I was particularly impressed when I left my wallet at the lobby and when I went back to the hotel at the end of the day, I found out that one of the hotel staff had found my wallet and given it to the reception. Everything including my money was fully intact. I am truly impressed by their honesty . Overall, the furniture in the room looks a bit dated though I must say it is still very well maintained and clean. The bed is also very comfortable.Breakfast spread could be improved a little though but I think it is also not fair to expect the type of variety found in 5 star international hotel.

Such a clean hotel, very well thought out, attention to detail.Location not central but never a problem to get a bolt/grab into town(100bart). Breakfast was good selection and you can have poached/soft boiled eggs if you ask. Was give a free upgrade as our son was in the room with us.Was a nice touch to get a free goodie bag containing biscuits, water, snacks. |Only downside was the bed was so hard!!|The pool was gorgeous, cold but always in the sun and always had enough beds.

Quite liked this place. Nice upgraded room to get the king bed with welcome treats! Beautiful view looking west to catch some beautiful sunsets. Nice clean pool and very attentive bar service with decent prices. 4 elevators is nice so rarely a delay. Only thing that we might knock it down a bit is that the gym could be upgraded somewhat. Functional but a bit dated. Saunas are gender only which seemed a bit odd but not a biggie.

I would give this hotel 3 stars. We stayed in executive room for one night. The building is quite old and doesn’t really match the price we paid. The location is okay, but for this price range there are many more convenient options nearby and in downtown. We had a room with a rather extraordinary view, which was a nice highlight, but the bathroom was very small. The staff were friendly and helpful, always doing their best and explaining the services clearly without any signs of impatience. Overall, the location is acceptable and the staff are friendly, but the building feels dated and the buffet was just average.

Nice large comfortable bedrooms, small old style TV with international channels, the bathroom was very small with an over bath shower that was too low for me at 6ft tall. Air con and all lighting (except the bathroom) is operated by a control panel at the bedside. A kettle and mugs are provided, but oddly enough you’ll need to bring your own coffee, tea etc. What is the point of a kettle then?
