The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa

Unfortunately this hotel had few redeeming qualities. The room had no mini fridge, no room service, horrendous internet and the food at the location was generally pretty terrible. The best part was the stellar massage I got from Alex at their spa - probably the best massage I’ve had in 10 years. The location is quaint and very beautiful. But the hotel itself could do with a revamp, serious investment in proper internet which seems like a basic requirement for a hotel in this modern age, and service improvements.

Great place to stay, loved the history, you can still sense the old bones of the building. Great location , close to everything and they offer a lot of amenities on site. The bar/restaurants were good but tended to be easily stressed when busy often turning hotel guests away because the kitchen couldn't keep up. We were there during a busy time, but we were disappointed there wasn't basic take out menu or room service. If you have kids make reservations for everything. Rooms were great , however getting your room cleaned was a gamble, sometimes they made it to your room and sometimes they did not. At check in they should ask if you want your room cleaned daily. Overall great experience, highly recommend.

My family stayed in one of the duplex or townhouses for a ski weekend and it was pretty sub-par. The bedrooms and common rooms were in rough shape with lots of exposed pipes (other than sprinkler heads) and mineral stains, an unlocked utility room with mouse traps (that my kids could have found), stained carpets that look like animal urine and lots of beat up walls with no art or decor or anything and all the tv's had broadcast channels only, no smart tvs. I asked the front desk about a washer dryer for some wet ski clothes and got a very curt attitude. Surprised that a massive hotel and spa did not have a washer and dryer unit for guests. The pool was pretty nice, not super warm, we didn't go to restaurants but the takeout food was pretty good. We were there to ski so didn't stay in the rooms much but this place is for you if you're going to stay here with your golf/ski bros and not a family.

Do not book this hotel, overpriced and a rip-off. I booked 4 rooms for my family mid Feb 2026, no heating in some of the rooms in freezing Vermont, phones do not work, the bathroom and the structure are run-down. Motel 6 is a luxury hotel compared to this hotel. Totally understaffed, the poor service members are trying their best to help, but they do not have a chance to provide any acceptable level of service, shorthanded in a nonfunctioning facility. It looks like the owner is trying to milk as much cash as possible before the building totally falls apart. If you want to suffer and feel cheated, feel free to book this place. Dear Owner, (response to your reply): we booked in July 2025, 7 months ahead, at $375 per night per room. We received an accommodation and experience value of less than $80. Your website mentioned Luxury; it is Shabby. I have talked to some of your staff, and it is obvious that they are shorthanded and overworked. Exploiting your guests is not a Customer Service it is GREED!

Where do I start immediately? Upon entering the resort you will quickly notice how rundown it is. We were instructed to park in the rear of the facility where we found a completely frozen parking lot. The walk was treacherous. We got to our room and felt an immediate draft. All windows were closed but both had broken window panes. It was so cold in the room that the inside glass had ice all over it. See video. It stayed this way the whole stay. It required running the heater on full blast which quickly dries the air. When I tried to call the front desk the cordless phone was dead. I called from my cell phone and they said yeah it happens some time just unplug and plug back in. I said no I’m not crawling under the bed. They never sent anyone to fix it. The sink was cracked, soap dispenser not attached properly. The wait staff was short with every customer that wanted to eat. The food came out late to the point they comped it without us asking. Every morning they offer coffee. Both days it was empty and they had no answer except there is store up the road. The hot tub was shut down and the spa is in poor condition. When we went to front desk to let them know we were gonna check out two days early, they didn’t inquire as to if we were happy they simply said you will be charged a one night penalty. The disappointment in this facility reverberates through the halls. May guest were complaining while having general conversations. Save yourself the aggravation and save your money and bypass this place. It truly was disappointing.

Hotel was great from start to finish, and the on-site restaurants were truly outstanding, with excellent food and attentive service that made every meal a highlight of the stay. One person who really made the trip unforgettable was the ski shuttle driver, Chris, who might be the nicest, most helpful, and most knowledgeable person in all of Manchester, going above and beyond to make sure guests were taken care of and got where they needed to go with ease. Overall, the combination of a fantastic hotel, top-notch dining, and exceptional service from staff like Chris made this a stay that is easy to recommend and one that deserves repeat visits.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful from the moment you walk in ,you truly embrace the Gilded Age from yester years. From the Decor to the staff , everyone makes you feel very special and welcomed. When walking around , Each area / room is inviting & speaks for itself. So happy we had the pleasure to meet a lot of the staff and I must say the gentlemen ,John and Matt are incredibly hands-on and want to make sure that you are comfortable in getting everything you need while you’re visiting. They both went beyond our expectations. We believe that they are indeed a true asset to the Hotel. Simply Outstanding !!! The staff is friendly & warm For example; Lovely Maria is from the spa & is very informative , she is also focused to give you a great experience in the hotel . We love the Equinox & gradually are seeing all the changes🙏 We are sincerely looking forward to seeing you keep this wonderful & detailed history hotel in the pristine way in which it is meant to be ! What a disappointment for the money. The room was very dated and there were moths and bugs. Upon arrival the girl at the desk told us to pull in the back parking lot and to enter through the back to get to the elevator. She did not tell us that there was someone up front who would of brought our luggage to our room , nor did she tell us that we had to lug our baggage up several staircases to get to the elevator. On top of that, although our room was in the 400’s, it was on the third floor. The parking lot and sidewalks were not cleared when we arrived on Saturday and not much better when we went to dinner that night. Although it’s not entirely the hotels fault, there were children running, yelling and pushing at all hours of the night through the sitting areas. If they are going to make it a “family” resort, perhaps they should have areas for the kids and quiet hour rules. Pets are allowed and not only did a dog jump on the furniture, she knocked my drink over. What I had experienced as a guest years ago was not what I experienced this past weekend.

I come here every year for a business retreat and it's always the best!! They take good care of us and the staff is so friendly, fun, and engaging! The room are decent, a little bit older but that's also understandable due to the age of the resort. My room was clean and made up daily, which I loved. The room was a little drafty, but again, understandable to the age. I know they've tried to make some upgrades which is appreciated. THE PILLOWS- need to know what brand they're so comfy!!! They also have great bathroom soaps and products to offer too! Food is delicious!!!! We had a pasta and salmon for dinner last night that was AMAZING. We have salads on our 2nd day and NO JOKE it's my FAVORITE salad. I couldn't replicate it at home if I tried. 10/10!! The staff makes sure we have lots of water, coffee, whatever we need. I look forward to coming back again next year!!

Equinox, get your s*@t together!!! I won't drone on about all the things that fell short with our stay, but it was just about everything. At the price point we paid, there is a level of service that is non-negotiable. And thinking I might have Karen-level unreasonable expectations, I polled others during our stay and the consensus was the same...pure disappointment. You beat us out of a few bucks, we won't be back.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at Equinox, located in Manchester, VT. Check in was super easy, and the main lobby area is gorgeous. We enjoyed the spa, tennis courts, the pool, free rental bikes, and the lovely guided yoga/hike on our last day there. Our suite was absolutely stunning, and Equinox is close to the Manchester town center. There are also on site "excursions" that you can book along with your stay. Highly recommend!

Beautiful response. A jam in an unlikely place. Benefits: beautiful scenery, as you can see from the picture. They have complimentary yoga, Zumba and water aquatic classes. You can take a bike to ride around the grounds and there are plenty of hiking trails in the back as well as a nice, beautiful library and other places to hang out and work. It is expensive though. Over $300 a night for basic room. Food isn't easy to come by. Need to go into town for that. Overall, a very nice hotel. I just wish they had better food options on site and that one didn't need to go somewhere / drove to get food

I have stayed at the EH now a couple of times and both times have been wonderful. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the vistas bring me back to my childhood. Taina at the front desk was so kind and accommodating and I found all the staff to be so friendly and happy to help when requested. The spa is amazing and the areas to sit and converse are so needed when people are so focused on their cell phones. The seating areas bring the opportunity for meeting new people and having fulfilling conversations by the fireplaces or while having tea/ coffee. I cannot wait to return yet again in the near future! Had the most wonderful experience at the equinox. It was a spur of the moment decision to get a day pass and use the hot tub/ spa area. We were greeted by Emma who made us feel so welcome, and guided us through how to use everything. I had never been to a spa before so it was really nice to feel instantly at ease, and we will definitely be back again soon! I also wanted to mention that Celeste at the front desk, who was extremely helpful, we were having such a nice time I decided to surprise my partner with a room, and even though the rooms were a bit out of my price range she helped me find a hotel that was dog friendly nearby, reserve what worked best for us. And gave us some drink tickets for the resort restaurant, which is where we decided to have dinner. Our server was wonderful, our food really good, we felt very taken care of and it was a special experience. Thank you very much.

Day 2 - returned to room after being out all day to find housekeeping did not close the door! Looking forward to one more restless nights sleep; between the wonky climate control and the very noisy door slamming. This old place is not well insulated! Staff are likely overworked but they do try - clearly not given much customer service training though. certainly not what one expects from a resort and the prices, with added on resort fees.

It's a dump. We were there for a wedding. Arrived and no rooms ready. Place is dirty and worn out like a bad pair of socks. Holes in the carpet. Bugs everywhere. Bar is out of most common liquors and rude people. Be aware of the spiders and unknown bugs in our bed. Just could not get over how dilapidated and horrible the place has become.

I really don't understand people. I booked 4 nights on a Travelzoo special for my 25th wedding anniversary. Years ago we had been through Manchester and knew of The Equinox. The day before our trip, I was looking for restaurants in Manchester on Yelp and stumbled across the rating for The Equinox. I was upset. I read many of them. I kept the reservation and held my mind open to possibilities. When we got here, I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was so kind & helpful. It's mud season (slowest part of the year) and they still had a valet on staff. The rooms were completely updated; in fact the entire complex seemed very well cared for....even in the gray snowy/rainy days of mid-March. The Spa was fantastic and the gym was very clean and well provisioned. Manchester has excellent local restaurants....several within walking distance. The hotel's history reaches back more than 200 years. Everything isn't going to be as picture-perfect as a newly built hotel. Do yourself a favor and realize some people aren't happy unless they 1) complain or 2) their common sense/judgement may be skewed. Enjoy the history and lovely service in this historic hotel. There's so much to see, even in Muddy Season!!

The Equinox has unfortunately gone way down hill. They used to be the Premier place to stay in Manchester and we loved going there. Not sure what happened but you get better service at a Motel 6! The only good thing that they have going for them is the spa. Don't waste your money, there better places to stay and I'm sure you'll get better service!

I just returned from a very disappointing stay at the Equinox in Manchester, Vermont. I have been there several times and each time things have gotten worse. This was the last time I will go there. This beautiful hotel has been neglected, it looks tired and worn out. Paint is peeling, carpets are worn, rooms need upgrading, they smelled musty, even the TV in our room was analog and the few stations we could receive were blurry. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and checked in expecting to have a light snack and a cocktail before dinner reservations (not at the Equinox) later in the evening, but there was NO food available, nothing, until 5:00. The bar was not open at all, I was told due to the severe thunderstorms in the area. Seemed odd to me as the restaurant was open as were bars and restaurants up and down Main Street. Don't waste your money, avoid the Equinox until they clean the place up and put you, the customer first.

We stayed at the Equinox for Memorial weekend. There were three couples and we stayed in the vacation condo. From the moment of checking in the customer service was horrible. The front desk staff was rude and seemed bothered when we asked for any information or request. They were disorganized and couldn't provide basic check in information. The actual "vacation condo" was so run down we were astounded. The balconies were rotting and just full of splinters. None of the bathroom outlets worked and the kitchen cabinets were falling apart. It wasnt very clean and it was just overall very poorly built. I closed door and the number plaque fell off. The beds were comfortable The spa was great The view was lovely and live music in the bar at night was nice. It didn't make up for rude staff. Example- walk up to front desk to ask where the putting green is. He looks up from computer in an irritated fashion. Doesn't say anything. We ask where it is. He says "it's right down the road" and looks back down at computer. We had to ask what he meant. He was so bothered.

We have stayed at Equinox several times - starting in 1986 as newlyweds - and now we are grandparents! It is a charming, historical hotel - cozy and old-timey... We only go in winter to ski and it is the perfect location near to Bromley and Stratton... Huge king bed room... Nice outside hot tub and indoor pool. Good wifi... Yummy meal in Marsh Tavern... A spring blizzard added to the weekend in Vermont vibe... And most amazing - we somehow locked our car key in our car - we were at Stratton and it was end of day of skiing...luckily extra set of keys back in hotel room BUT no way to get there - no uber, no taxi, Audi roadside no help... The hotel went beyond and had Taina the front office manager get the xtra key from our room and drive it to us at Stratton. I honestly don't know what we would have done without her help! Highly recommend this hotel!

The reviews of this place do not lie. Run down, half the staff doesn't want to be there and their attitude shows. Here for a wedding and if we ever have to come back will be staying a hundred yards away at Taconic. We are in "room 603" at their Orvis building which is not even part of the building it's an old side porch converted into a room. We can't open our shades because people/cars would see right into our rooms and afraid of theft. Broken window, lights not working, AC unit loud and if you change the temp it flickers the lights. The shower/tub were so poorly designed if you take a shower it floods the bathroom. Room is so small if you have 2 people it feels you have to take turns walking around the bed because there is no space. Manager doesn't care and tried to claim we are booked at 3x less their normal rate. Would love to know who is paying $900/night for this afterthought of a room.

Great location, staff was friendly, but we had no hot water for three days, no even a hint of warm temperature. Family staying in the Orvis house reported the same thing. Front desk said that everyone must have been taking showers at the same time. For $500/night, I don't think it's too much to expect a warm shower. Please upgrade your hot water system!

There needs to be serious attention paid to the older rooms given the prices charged. It is understaffed and there are no breakfast and lunch options available in the hotel during the week. No valet service during the week. Grand old building in wonderful setting. Owners need to invest in rehab or turn it over to someone who cares. Food when provided as part of a group booking was mediocre at best.

No hot water and very old beds. Looks pretty on pictures but reality will set in really fast. Don't recommend it! Get a tent! You'll feel better about Vermont. Such a beautiful place with such a dump for a hotel

We stayed in "The Dormy", a cottage near the Golf Course with 4 bedrooms. It was supposed to have a grill in the back. It didn't. It was supposed to have a fire pit in the back. It didn't. Those were big draws for us. The air conditioner in one of the rooms was busted. One of the toilet flushers was busted. One of the bathrooms didn't have a mirror. We wanted to go kayaking on a Friday in July, busy season. But there was no attendant available so we couldn't go kayaking. They tried to make it up to us with some free breakfast and drinks. But, that still didn't make it worth it. And at checkout, there was a surprise $150 "Cleaning Fee" that wasn't mentioned anywhere prior to us finding out.

The room was more than 700.00 which is a lot for a one night away. I really appreciated my daughters plans of sitting under the stars by the fire pit and just relaxing. No valet parking, 700.00 a night. There was one person at the desk that gave me our keys and a map to the parking lot. She pointed out that on the back of the card carrier was the website for the online hotel concierge and that would give me all the information i would need. We found the parking lot easy enough but getting to our room and not cutting through all the employees busy setting up for the wedding. Not once were we offered help. We found out that there would be no fire pits or peace and quiet because the wedding was taking place outside our room. Our room, had torn sheets on the bed, not what I was expecting. Lights that flickered with every step we took and a floor so uneven it was a tripping hazard. Two days before our reservation I called and left a message trying to make a reservation for Brunch on Sunday and the message stated someone would return my call, I'll be home a week tomorrow and still no call. The website for hotel concierge was not updated. The Marsh Tavern was a joke for sure. There was a hostess stand and I stood there for 10 minutes and not one employee spoke to me as they walked past several times.They looked very busy, I still feel someone could have said grab a menu and go to the bar. I asked another guest who was just as upset as I was. The menu listed on the website was not what was being served. That night we had the option of a pretzel, deviled eggs, or some kind of burger. We left. We did get a great Sunday Brunch at the Copper Grouse Restaurant which is located in the Taconic Inn. Very friendly staff and great service. I will say the woman in the gift shop at the Equinox went out of her way to help us find our rooms and that was greatly appreciated. To be fair it was Peak Week...Living in the Adirondacks I should have known it would have been busy, but i never thought of it. Thanks to Doc Dogs for a great day of entertainment.

DO NOT COME HERE! If I could leave 0 stars for this resort I would. Worst resort experience of my life. Please listen to me and do not waste your time or money at this place. This whole place smells terrible like it's been rotting since the early 1900s. The bathrooms, bedroom, and even lobby smell like mold. There was also an ant infestation in the bathroom...The A/C didnt work. The beds were the poorest quality beds I've ever slept on. Theres NO soundproofing so the parties outside near the fire pit kept us awake until past 1am even though the resort told us they would quiet them down. There's also nothing special to do that the resort offers. They have a spa with a swimming pool and tiny gym with the quality of a high school gym. Basically was waiting for this trip to end so I could go home and shower because I felt so filthy. On top of everything, the resort added a a mountain of fees they didn't tell us about beforehand. Was very foolish to believe their false advertising.

I ordered a to go breakfast at the Chop House. I did not know they included the tip on the bill so I gave a cash tip. Turns out I gave the waitress 2 tips which she neglected to tell me. As far as I am concerned, this is catamount to stealing. I emailed the general manager and he has not gotten back to me.

The last time my partner and I were in Manchester we stayed at Aspen, which was a good move at the time. This time around we decided to try The Equinox since we heard good things about it. Big mistake. The rooms are tight (you have to request for a fridge since they don't come with one), some areas (like the elevator and some of the corridors) need repair/painting/updating, some of the staff (other than the cleaners/porters/bellhops) weren't particularly accommodating or pleasant, the gym/spa staff are rude, the gym/spa doesn't have proper signage, and the members of the spa were annoying on top of that. I had to have a member of the spa show me the gym because the person behind the desk at the spa didn't seem to care when I told her I couldn't find anything in the building. I will say the game room near the Chop House/Marsh Tavern is nice. Pretty much spent most of the time there at the fireplace while at the hotel. Also, the staff at Marsh Tavern were very nice and nice accommodating. Other than that, I don't know what Equinox really has to offer especially for what it costs. Stay at the Hampton/Hilton down the street which is closer to town.

Having been here before numerous times years ago, I was excited to return as a surprise by my husband for our year married anniversary. Needless to say I am truly disappointed how down hill this historic once beautiful resort has become. The lack of service and unfriendly staff is unacceptable. The bar and restaurant has ridiculous hours and horrible bartender. There was a bug in my drink as well as being charged extra for an alcohol that I did not ask for. The Falcon bar one we used to love was closed our entire stay. The spa Staff is unfriendly and disrespectful as well, don't ask anyone questions. The lack of care and attendance is a sure reason why there is very few people staying here anymore. Will not be returning. Very disappointed.

Here is a brief excerpt of the letter we sent to the Mgr: I checked in for our December 24-26 stay, I was excited to learn we were in the Orvis House, as Orvis is a company synonymous with quality and excellence, I was anxious to see the suite. We selected a suite with a pull-out bed for our 19-year old daughter. The rooms had a full kitchen and dining room with a large table. From there, our experience deteriorated quickly. It continued to get worse as we explored the room and the property further. Living room furniture was modest, institutional, not cozy or inviting. * When opened, the pull-out couch was unstable, with a very firm/uncomfortable mattress. * We had to call the desk for a comforter, as the linens only had a thin, worn blanket. * When opened, the unstable bed rocked and even folded up on her a few times when she was in it. * She had two miserable nights in it. Fireplace did not work * We called the desk and were instructed to open the cabinet and plug it in. * Fireplace worked for a while, shut itself off, and never worked again in 3 days Televisions - Two in our suite, worked intermittently, persistently showing snow & static, often turned black scrolling the message: "Scrambled" or "Reloading" Main bedroom was surprisingly small * No bedside tables for books or eyeglasses * No Luggage stand * During our stay we could hear the guests above us, this became extremely annoying on Christmas morning when we heard them moving loudly about their suite at 6:30am, then again on the 26th when we were trying to sleep in. It's evident that there's not adequate insulation in walls or floors. Bathroom tiny, 6' x 8' * Guest needs to walk in behind the toilet to turn and close the door. * No Tub and shower, as advertised * Inside Doorknob loose, fell off on the 26th. * Towel Hook missing from Back of Door. * No robes as advertised * Positive: Shower was big, water pressure great Heat in Suite: It was an exceptionally cold few days, with temps hovering from 10-20 degrees outside. * As we moved in, it seemed there was no heat on in the suite: the thermostat set to 60 degrees, we raised it to 70, after a few hours, it did not seem to work. * After a few hours, we called the desk. A Technician arrived and simply turned the heat up to 80 degrees, which became too hot. When we turned the thermostat down to 70, it turned off and didn't turn on again, so rooms were uncomfortably cold again. Pool/Spa * Men's locker room was disgusting, needed thorough cleaning, * M's & W's Showers had mildew * Overall musty odor * No suit dryer in Men's locker * Women's locker bathing suit dryer broken on Dec 25. * Wood and overhang near spa rotten, cover thrown over in a pile not folded neatly. * Hot tub was not really clean, had an odor. * Walkway to hot tub dangerous, towels thrown down to make transit safer on ice. Most cold weather resorts have a heating system for the walkway.

I just spent two nights at the equinox. I left and received a phone call saying my card was declined. I gave a different card and again it was declined. I was told immediately that I would be sent to collections. We hung up. I called back with the exact same card information to be reprocessed because it had not shown up on my account and I knew the error was on their end. I spoke with the same person. The card went through as I knew it would. He did not respond with an apology after I expressed my unhappiness with the way he approached the situation. Instead he said "respect before business." Needless to say this is not the best approach to customer service. The Taconic hotel down the street is amazing and excels at customer service in all aspects and is even more beautiful with a wonderful happy hour. We took a chance and went to the equinox this time around...Never again.

Lesson learned! We booked this hotel on hotel tonight and basically got stuffed in room 119 under the staircase with drunk guest going up and down all night . We arrived well dressed for a local wedding and Louis Vuitton luggage in tow . I'm guessing that's why we looked like people that like to stay in a broom closet for $400 a night . As we didn't get much sleep , the Desire to bolt 1st thing in the morning and get the hell out of hell we didn't try any of the spa or hotel accommodations. Take what you will on my review but as we were running to a wedding and didn't have time to play can I have a better room game . We will never be back, but I'm sure they don't care either . As we checked out, we didn't get asked how our stay was because they knew the room they stuffed us in wasn't good .

Super disappointed. I use to love this place. I've been here 4 or so times and this visit was just horrible all around. The staff at the Chop house is horrible. They don't know their own menu and have an angry attitude towards guests. There was literally only 1 others table with guests and it took them 15 mins to take my order. While getting coffee at 7 am one of the employees had their radio blasting and she seemed irritated I was getting coffee. The rooms have water stains in the ceiling from leaks and wallpaper falling off the wall. When I asked to change rooms they were not at all helpful and said I could have a room with no windows! Who does that?? The front desk manager offered me a breakfast voucher for the horrible room. When I tried to use them the next day it completely threw the waitress off and she didn't know how to process it and gave me total attitude for using the voucher. It became comical. When I asked for a draft beer they had on tap he poured me a can of beer and he said "it was the same thing" without even asking if a can was ok. After one night after ordering room service, they cleaning crew left all the food in my room the next day. I finally took it out myself The spa area and staff were very good and they said they are managed by a different company which makes sense. I could go in with more examples but this gives a flavor how poorly managed this place has become. Sad to see this resort deteriorate to this level and the staff clearly seems they do not like guests staying at this hotel.

Room 245 more to followed felt very uncomfortable. See below; room is dark small. We need to use luggage rack in front of only exit. Window has air conditioning compressor out side and a ladder not sure what happened to this Historic Hotel.

End of an Era. I'm so sorry to say: The Equinox should be shuttered. Keeping it "open" is an affront to what it was. Many weddings celebrated here. Holidays. She was an Icon. Gave it one last shot over Thanksgiving...to say it was a shell of itself would be too complimentary. I feel sorry for the poor folks currently working here who have to endure the wrath of Customers expectations mis-aligned with current Owner's lack of interest.

The Equinox was the only Marriott property in Manchester, so I felt obligated to stay here (I'm a loyal Bonvoy member). The Equinox is considered part of the Marriott luxury collection, so it is pricier than most in the area. The property is lovely, but felt it didn't warrant a $39 daily resort fee. I'm assuming the resort fee was to have access to the internet, the gym, pool and access to their golf course (at an additional charge). I've stayed at other Marriott properties and all of these "luxuries" were included in the price. The rooms are updated and very comfortable. The restaurant on the premise was just okay, and ended up eating at the many other restaurants available in town (better quality, options and prices). The hotel served its purpose, but there are better and less costly options.

Welcome to my second review EVER. I do not leave reviews lightly nor do I care enough typically to besmirch a business rather than just not return- but here we stand nonetheless. I recently had a three night stay at the Equinox for a family wedding, we opted for the townhouses since it was an extended family stay. At $900 a night they were one of the most disgusting accommodations I've had to endure, cracked tile, dirty glasses in the cabinets, the disgusting scent and presence of mold-my fiancé struggled to breath most of the weekend. Second floor decks made of driftwood with shaky railings hanging on by their last nail that I will be calling the Manchester town building inspector about. This location was truly a gem and the town was enchanting and lively; built on mountain side, but that's all they had, the facade of luxury based on location. Roughly 5-10 minutes after leaving the wedding I realized I left my ($550 TF) sunglasses on the table- I rushed back POSITIVE that they would still be there, or a staff member would have them since such little time had elapsed, but of course it couldn't be that easy at this dump. Now; are material items that important? Maybe not. Are my personal items my own responsibility? Sure, maybe. But of course you can understand my dismay. I also checked with both families in attendance and checked with the front desk and every other department regarding them, they were clearly stolen by staff, and I say that knowing exactly where I left Them. As if this wasn't enough, at the after party at the falcon bar, the night manager barged in to a happy, joyous family enjoying their end of night cocktails and memories of the day- and started literally screaming profanities at us that I don't care to repeat because she had gotten noise complaints. Now maybe you're thinking this guy's oblivious, but trust me when I say we received no prior complaint or warning. Just immediately chastised by the manager- yes the manger. Hospitality LOL. IN SHORT- don't waste your families precious time, or money in this place. Their apathy towards their guests is almost out of a spoof movie, and the accommodations are that of an hourly rate motel. Explore somewhere else in beautiful Manchester before this toxic resort curses your family. I wish I could leave negative stars. Sick views though!

we've enjoyed equinox for 20 years but this place is tired. as one resident told me that this place "is just kicking the can' down the road with changing management. I'm go to try the taconic hotel down the road- a more youthful atmosphere

Don't eat breakfast here. It's gross, cold and overpriced. Gratuity is added on, but the service consists of someone asking if you want water/coffee and then bringing your check No coffee machine or microwave in the rooms, which is a bummer. What I like about this place is the property. I love the sitting areas and outdoor fire pit. I like the fireplaces inside and the peaceful feeling that I get when I come here. The room is clean and the beds are comfortable.

This was a nice place to stay for a recent conference. The room was clean, the food good, and the staff very pleasant and helpful.

Not acomedating at all. No room service, most restaurants were closed. Charged us $470 a night and was not worth it.Hotel this big did not have a concierge desk. Will never stay here.

Let's start off by saying there's only so long you can blame the pandemic until it's just unprofessionalism. We came in a little early around 2pm to check in thinking check in was at 3pm. They told us check in is at 4pm so we understood the room not being ready so we left to get lunch while we waited. We come back around 4:30 to a long line of people trying to check in all at once. We get called up to be checked in only to be told our room is still not ready and we would have to wait and they would call us when the room is ready. They offer us two tickets that we could redeem at the bar. Little to our knowledge it was for only beer, wine and well drinks so not even a typical cocktail. We said whatever it's free and got our drink. We sat at the bar one hour still nothing. Two hours nothing. Three hours still nothing, so we decide to walk to the front desk and as we walk up there they call us. So relieved that we were getting our room we hurry to the front. The young man who helped us told us our room is in the 1811 house across the street and gave us a card key for the front door and a physical key for our room. So we park over at the 1811 house and unload all our luggage into the main lobby. We searched the entire house twice and could not find our room number. We called the main resort and were sent directly to hold. After 10 minutes of that we decide to load all of our luggage back into the car and head over to the equinox front desk. Unbeknownst to us, our room was actually in the cottage next door. By this point we wanted a refund and had no desire to stay here. The man at the front desk, Calin told us our room was non refundable and there was nothing he could do but offered to walk over there and show us our room. Once he left we noticed the keys to our room would not lock or unlock our door. I had to again go back over to the main resort where another staff member realized we had been given the wrong keys. Besides horrible service, I found a marijuana roach on our bathroom windowsill. Not sure why it took so long to get our room when it doesn't even seem clean/sanitized. We will never stay at any of the equinox properties. There is nothing luxury about them. Edit: phone to the main desk doesn't work or they just don't pick up any calls. All we want is ice. Edit 2: so now last night we have a new intruder. There was a mouse in our room. Guy at front desk said he could get us a trap because it would take him over an hour and that mice are common in Vermont... didn't know luxury hotel also had them but ok guy.

We were so excited to stay here on October 1st and 2nd. The resort is beautiful from the outside; however the rooms are a but rundown and in need of refreshing. Upon check-in, we requested that our $400 per night (per Expedia) stay be split amongst two different credit cards. Unfortunately, after leaving we discovered that there are many taxes and fees that are tacked on to the standard rate which brought the rate to nearly $900 per night! Something we definitely weren't prepared for. On top of that suprise, the hotel charged BOTH credit cards the full amount of $1,785, instead of splitting in half on each card. It's taken two phone calls and been four days and the issue still hasn't been resolved. Will not be returning.

We had a family reunion this past weekend. 3 couples stayed at the Equinox while the rest stayed at the Kimpton. I wish I booked the Kimpton instead. 2 out of the 3 rooms booked at Equinox had major issues and required a room switch mid stay. I will only speak to my room switch, and let me start by saying our stay was absolutely horrid. My husband and I returned to our room late at night the first day and went straight to sleep. We woke up and discovered the comforter had BLOOD STAINS on them. We were horrified and disgusted. We told the front desk about the issue and then ran to a family event. When we returned midday, I approached the front desk and the concierge offered to move us to a new room (upgrade from queen room to King room with no additional charge, fine). I went back to my old room to grab my things, and I was floored to see the door to the room was left wide open by house keeping. There was no one in the hallway and no housekeeping carts in sight. How is this acceptable? Breach of security with no regards for our items and privacy? Luckily, we took computers and valuables with us in the morning, but what if we didn't? I went back to the front desk fuming and the concierge said they will call housekeeping to find out what happened. Asked me to leave my number so they can call me afterwards. I wanted to file a formal complaint, so they gave me the number of their Director of Front Desk Greg. I called, left a voice mail. This all happened on Sunday morning. We checked out on Monday. Today is Tuesday and no response whatsoever from them. No explanation about what happened from housekeeping. No call back from the Director of Front Desk. When we checked out, no managers were on site and the concierge checking us out said he only has the power to remove the resort fee as a courtesy. Okay, so $70 discount for an $800 stay (2 nights) where our bed was blood stained by previous guests and the housekeeping left our room fully open for all to venture in?

Where do I start, this was a disappointing disaster from the start. Let me start by saying that we're titanium elite Marriot members, so we are experienced and more importantly reasonable people. But I've gotta day the service here was not impressive, not impressive for a regular hotel let alone what they TSG a "luxury hotel". First we got there and our room wasn't ready (it was 5:30pm) we waited 1 hr and nobody came and got us, so we checked again and nothing still was ready, she ends up scrambling and finds us another room, but only after I complained a bit, not her own initiative. Anyways they assign us a room, and of course we walked in on people, they already have the room to someone else! Next, they "find another room in their other building", I was skeptical when I heard her say it, and even more disturbed when I saw this "room", for the sake of making sure you got the right picture let's call it a large walk in closet, it was awful and a disgrace that they sell this room for the prices they charge here. The luggage guy was so embarrassed and felt awful, he said he was gonna go back to the front desk and talk to them, but at this point we needed a room as it was late and we had dinner reservations. (Luggage guy John was amazing and the only guy on this property who genuinely seemed to give a damn) Anyways, we stay there that night because we were tired of everything so far. By the way, they downgraded us to a premium room to a standard room in a secondary building, think they cared or even mentioned it? Hell no... So next morning we followed up because nobody followed up with us after being told by 2 different people they would. In short, I had to force everything, no initiative or desire for customer service whatsoever. They have us $50 credit and free breakfast for all that, what a joke. They finally moved us to a handicap accessible room, which we stayed in the rest of the trip. Both rooms we were in had items left by the cleaning crew as well, one had a empty champagne bottle and the other had a dirty rag and a pillow case not out on a pillow. At this point it was just becoming humorous for my wife and I which by the way we're celebrating our 16 year anniversary which was also noted to the hotel, didn't matter I guess. Few more things - the servers in their restaurants are atrocious, they share the same lack of desire to be there and customer service. (Again, we are really easy going people, my expectation levels aren't that high to be honest, even at a "luxury resort", this was just a joke) A real shame because the property is real nice, the bar and fire pit on the porch are a great atmosphere, the jacuzzi and pool area are good. We didn't use the spa so I can't comment there. We will be back to Vermont but defiantly not here. Marriott should be ashamed to have this in their luxury portfolio. Only because of the property do I give it 2 stars, otherwise it would be 1. By the way, it wasn't just us...we heard SEVERAL people throughout the trip at the front desk complaining about one thing or another. What a shame...

We are currently staying here. It's okay. It is also way overpriced for an okay place. There are signs of aging and the place needs serious renovations. Our room is just okay. Rugs need replacement. They are unattractive and worn off. NO COFFEE MAKERS IN THE ROOM!!! Unless you take a "mountain view" room, you will be hearing a lot of traffic from the road. Be aware! Heated pool is very cold. Breakfast is something to avoid, unless you want your eggs, bacon/sausage..., and everything else cold. Orange juice is seriously watered down. The staff is nice and friendly, but they won't make an extra effort. Overall, it is too expensive for the condition it is in. We would not want to come back.

We used a GroupOn deal for 2 nights. Beautiful, well maintained hotel, a few fireplaces, restaurant, lounge area. We were in Room 426 very nice with a comfortable bed. Only Complaint was the noise when people slam doors or clomp around with ski boots. You can hear conversations as you pass rooms. Only one ice machine on second floor - not convenient at all from our 4th floor room. No microwave, nor fridge, no coffeemaker in the room. The breakfast was a total rip,off and won't ever eat there again. Service was an absurdly long wait, not a friendly waitress and thank goodness we were given a voucher for $25 off each breakfast. The bill for a simple breakfast was $78 so we used our coupons of course. The following morning, we ate elsewhere

Stayed at the Equinox in September. First room we were in had no a/c and no hot water. Second room had no central a/c but very old rooms. The entire hotel needs a total make over, Do not go there. Many other establishments in Manchester to go to . The best part was the golf course. In Manchester most restaurants are closed Su -Wednesday. Plan ahead.

Chef Chris at the restaurant alone is the reason to visit the Equinox. Wonderful food and he is highly knowledgeable about severe food allergies and cooks food to your health needs. We have ANA allergies and had wonderful meals when traveling. Very grateful. The pool and spa are lovely as our the grounds. Highly recommended .

We booked a romantic weekend away...25 year wedding anniversary. The climate control in the room only blew out hot air. 81 degrees. Front desk sent up maintenance. He just turned it back on which blew hot air again all afternoon. Back to the front desk. We'll send him back up. He turned it back on. We turned it off. Jeff never showed. Off to dinner. No comp from the front desk, sorry we're booked, no other rooms. There was a suggestion that we should sleep with the windows open. This place is old. Stay down the street at the Taconic Hotel. Not worth the money. Saga continues....came back after dinner. It was 96 in the room. 9:30pm at night, relocated to another smaller room in another building down the street. Clearly the Maintenance Engineer did not do his job.

We ate Christmas dinner at the Equinox. Simply stated the food was awful. There were 4 of us and we had various things on the menu. We all agreed, the food was terrible.

Wow. Talk about an epic decline. Came up w wife, son, daughter and daughter's bf. Prob started coming up to this resort 15 years ago and have a ton of fond memories. Until this trip. I talked up the cider donuts to my daughter's bf and upon arrival, we went hunting for them. We were told by an employee they don't have them anymore because of staffing issues. Huh? Went to our room which was a townhouse because we had thought we were bringing our dog. As my wife and I walked in I instantly thought this is not what we are accustomed to here. Walked into our bedroom and noticed 4 unmatched pillows on the bed and a stained night table. The dresser needed repairs. This was just the beginning for us. This place used to have a vibe, an allure....that's all gone. I can not recommend this place any longer. It's in disrepair. In the lobby of years past, there was a really nice feeling. Now? Cold and not very welcoming. Two concierge's used to man two desks but now they sit empty. We were told there was a breakfast buffet for Christmas. I called down the morning of to confirm and the front desk said yes. Our kids were going skiing so we wanted to get them fed prior. Walked over at 9am to the Collonade and it was dark. No one in there. So we walked until we found someone in the Marsh Tavern. In broken English he said "we are closed." I was blown away. No buffet. But supposedly one at 11. The lack of communication between what little staff they have here is pathetic. So we went to the Taconic Hotel just down the street for a nice breakfast. The scene at the Falcon Bar used to be fun, vibrant....now it's a shell if its former self. Same applies to the bar scene in the Marsh Tavern...dead, quiet, no fun zone. There's a fireplace just outside the Marsh Tavern that used to always have a roaring fire, now they barely have a fire going at all. It's a little thing like this that really tells you all you need to know. Absent this place being sold and updated and brought back to its iconic status, we won't be back. Thoroughly disappointed on so many levels. We had to call for fresh towels....no one answers you just leave a message. No maid service. Just terrible. So that's it for me, the end of a chapter for my family. As I said, we won't be back until this place is sold. And to echo another Yelp posting, they should close down, this is disrespectful to this once great hotel.

Stayed Friday and Saturday Labor Day weekend. Room was adjoined to a wedding party suite. Friday until 1am, then woken up at 6am. Went to front desk To say room next to me was loud and they sounded like they were actually in my room and got sorry we don't have rooms ,no solution , accommodation or apology Saturday night had to call security midnight ,12:30 and 12:45. I had to be on the road by 6:30 am. $500 a night. Wouldn't have spent $200. Horrible experience room 254 and 252 should not be reserved by separate parties. I don't blame the suite next door. Young kids(late early 30's celebrating -that's what I would be doing at that age. Hotel should block off the whole floor. Hotel was nice -15 years ago.
