The Excelsior Thessaloniki, Small Luxury Hotels of the World

I’d like to share my impressions of this hotel. To begin with, the rooms are nothing special, but the most unpleasant aspect is that the bathroom and toilet are separate. The room we stayed in had an extremely small bathroom space—so minimal that it could hardly be called a proper bathroom. It was essentially a tiny shower cabin area that remained constantly wet and drained very poorly. When I went back in to shower again later, the floor was still damp, almost like standing in a puddle. Another issue that negatively affected our stay occurred when we asked the reception to call a taxi for us so we could go to a store in Thessaloniki. They arranged the taxi, we completed the trip, and upon returning, the meter showed 24 euros. We paid with a 50-euro note, but the driver refused to give us any change. When we reported this to the hotel, they contacted the taxi company but were unable to provide any clear explanation, only saying they would “look into it.” Finally, at check-out we were informed that we had to pay for parking for both nights of our stay, despite never being told about this in advance. We were charged 35 euros per night for parking. On the first night, our car wasn’t even in a designated parking area—it was simply parked on the street in front of the hotel—yet we were still charged for two nights. Additionally, a 5-euro tourist fee was added, which we had never been informed about beforehand. Overall, the experience was extremely unpleasant, mainly due to poor communication and unexpected charges. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

In my opinion, Thessaloniki is the most beautiful city in Greece, a very special city for us, as it's where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, was born. We are very happy when we come to this city; it has many beautiful places to eat, drink, shop, and visit. The Excelsior Hotel where I stayed within this beauty, its cleanliness, central location, and the friendly and helpful behavior of its staff made me very happy. Thank you very much, I found a wonderful hotel and I will choose it again on my next trip, I am happy.

Spent a weekend in one of their Penthouse Suites. You can't beat the location (smack in the middle of town, easy to walk everywhere). The room was more than adequate in size with two beautiful bathrooms and a small hiccup with the shower drain was quickly resolved by the extremely friendly and attentive staff. All in all a great experience, will definitely be back!

This was our first trip to Thessaloniki and it was during Xmas in the rain, but an amazing trip that far surpassed our expectations. The location was excellent with everything nearby, the staff informative and offering support above and beyond, the rooms very clean and well organized with enough outlets and mirrors, and the breakfast and dinners tasty and aesthetic. We already recommended to close friends who will probably arrive in a few weeks.

I'd like to warmly thank Artemis and Elissavet for ensuring that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Artemis moved us from room 19 which had a few defects to a much nicer room and generally ensured that everything met our expectations. In terms of location it's the best spot to be in the centre of Thessaloniki. In general the staff went above and beyond and I believe are the biggest asset the hotel has.

I don’t tend to leave reviews at hotels due to often travelling but the staff at this hotel (Elisabet and the gentleman at the door) were absolutely fantastic in helping and assisting me over there. 10/10 service and exceptionally professionals thank you , you made my stay much more pleasant 🙏

We visited the hotel last Monday, but unfortunately, we only stayed for one night, as we were in transit. The hotel was spotless, very nicely located, with the staff very nice and professional. In the evening we decided to go to the restaurant for something very small, as we had a hearty lunch and then our experience got even better. Lovely Christina looked for us impeccably, and she went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. We are travelling very often and as diamond members we recognise a professional person when we see one. Thank you, Christina, the hotel is very lucky to have you!

I will stay here again every time I visit Thessaloniki - comfortable, friendly, relaxing, great breakfast and ideal if travelling alone- perfect!
