We’ve eaten twice here over the last couple of days. The welcome is warm and staff are quick and efficient. Food arrived quickly and was cooked to a good standard. As other have said the venison pie is delicious but maybe a bit too much gravy for us. We also had the lasagna which was lovely and a burger which was exceptional. Portions are on the larger side. There is parking outside.

Came on my own for the day and was made to feel so welcome. I was able to have breakfast on arrival. It was so nice to relax, catch up on some work and have a little walk. Had lunch and dessert (treacle sponge was incredible). Had a final drink when my husband arrived back before heading off. Thank you to all the staff for letting me hang around for the day and being so friendly, polite and helpful.

This is the second time we stayed at the Exmoor white horse and we’re very satisfied on both occasions. It is very dog friendly and our dog had a bed and towel provided. We thought the tray with a mat in an excellent idea for his bowls. The view rom the room was out towards the old bridge. Food is excellent, good sized portions especially enjoyed the venison shank, really a portion big enough for two. Staff are friendly and polite, interested in their customers and even phoned us to warn of possible congestion on the motorway. This is a great place to stay in the heart of Exmoor, beautiful autumn colours surround it. Highly recommended.

Decided to treat ourselves to a Traditional Sunday Carvery on our short stay in Exford and wasn’t disappointment. The food was amazing and extremely tasty. Beautifully cooked meats and the best roast potatos I’ve had in a very long time. Just had to have the Jam Rolly Polly and custard to finish and couldn’t fault it. |Proper good, well cooked, traditional food. Loved it. |Wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. |A rare find.

This was our fourth autumn trip to this lovely hotel in the heart of Exmoor - other family members have been coming here for decades. The White Horse never disappoints from the condition of it's fine Exmoor Brewery cask ales, to the excellent food and comfortable rooms it cannot be faulted. Linda and Peter makes us very welcome and staff members - Mark, Nick, Emma, Elysia and the ever present irrepressible Vince (who is part of the fabric) are professional, obliging and friendly creating an atmosphere other places must envy.|We shall be back next year and are looking forward to it already.|Exford is a lovely, friendly village - can also recommend The Crown, The Village Shop and The Farmer's Den - and the perfect place from which to tour all of the beautiful National Park.

Today we had a lovely lunch with our good friends in this beautiful pub.The place was so welcoming and busy .The staff were lovely as was our lunch .I would dearly have loved to give the whole experience a 5 star plus however ....we were sat in the main bar at a table we had reserved .Behind us were a table of six doing exactly what we were ,enjoying a nice lunch with friends .on the opposite table were a couple of families sat together with their children .Everyone agrees that children are unpredictable and when tired or bored they let it be known .Its not the children that were the issue it was two of the totally entitled parents .The first family said their good byes as the children were becoming restless .The other parents just sat back while their small children literally screamed their heads off ! All we could here were these two children crying and screaming .There was absolutely no concerns about any other diners .Such a pity these two parents didnt have ghe decency or thought for anyone other than themselves. They had finished their meal and literally sat back and allowed there two children to create as loudly as they could .When finally someone asked them if they please take the children home ,they were clearly tired and needed to bd taken home both parents were extremely rude and astonished that anyone would object to listening to their two children literally throwing their toys out of the pram !As it turned out the parents entitiled attitude was equally as bad .As previously stated it wasnt the childres fault it was the awful parenting that i think caused people ,of which there were several to complain.Would it not be a nice idea for everyone if the parents with children could not sit in the main bar but perhaps in an area dedicated to families .Anyway ,rant over ....Happy New Year hopefully if u manage to resolve the seating arrangments were would love to retun

The food here is fantastic! I had the fish and chips which I can easily say is a cut above most pubs and good value for money. My wife had the Sunday carvery which she said was excellent as well. We just came for dinner so I can't comment on the rooms, but the staff in the bar were friendly and efficient, thank you.

Another fantastic vacation in the white horse. The hospitality second to none. Rooms clean, beds comfortable. Breakfast selection amazing, from fruit juice to full English. All prepared to order and well presented. Can't say enough good about the whole experience. Go there you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
First experience here. Nice place to have a meal. The meals were excellent. Coming from the Netherlands it was really cheap. Six persons £ 66.- for the meals £ 18.- for the drinks. Not bad. We Made a reservation for the Sunday roast ..I'll keep you posted.

Yelp
Set on the north bank of the Ex next to the bridge, this Inn's riverside terrace was a nice place for an ale while enjoying the summer afternoon on the Moor.

Yelp
I have used this place several times and never been disappointed. The food is good, the fairly local Exmoor ales are extremely good. On my latest visit I had such a huge piece of venison pie (cooked in a rich red wine gravy with juniper berries), I was struggling to finish it, but I did manage and probably will next time when I go back for a repeat performance! The inn itself has few frills and long benches at old, well-scrubbed tables in much of the main bar. So is pleasantly unspoilt as a result. Prices are very average and, for the quality of the food, perfectly acceptable. There is accommodation here which I did sample once. somthing like thirty years ago. Then it was as near perfect as I could have expected I hope it has remained so. There are two negatives to my mind there is very much a hunting vibe throughout the bar, which is against my sensibilities (I am not strictly anti-hunting but do object to the needless cruelty and ritualistic aspects) but it is Exmoor, so c'est la vie, I suppose. Also, the carpark is very small, unless I have missed another part of it. The only bit I could find was beside the Exe-side beer garden, which is very pleasant given the right weather.
