My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this charming resort celebrating our 25th anniversary! The best way to describe the resort is that it is like a cruise. Food, drinks and daily excursions all wrapped into one. The resort never feels crowded and the staff is outstanding! Special thanks to Jesus, Emma, and Neyil for their hospitality! The daily excursions were all fun and well done. In our anniversary, we had the private dinner in the jungle. It was way better than I ever imagined! Super cool with some fun initial theatrics. The resort is a bit off the beaten path but that is partly why it is so special. Nature is all around. Great bird watching especially on the road in front of the resort!

My husband and I arrived from Boston and enjoyed a week at the resort celebrating our 41st anniversary. The staff was warm and gracious and went above and beyond to be hospitable to us, non-Spanish speaking guests. Our room was comfortable and we loved being nestled in the jungle setting. Our anniversary was celebrated with special surprises that made our celebration all the more memorable. ||We enjoyed the daily adventure excursions and appreciated our knowledgeable guides who worked hard to make each activity interesting and safe. A special shoutout to Daniel, Jesus, and Enoch for taking extra time with us to interpret information. ||At the resort, the food was phenomenal. We enjoyed the suggested menu options and appreciated the chef preparing delicious vegetarian meals for me. Every dish was colorful, beautifully presented, and delicious. The salads were outstanding! The chef that prepared the salads is an artist making each a feast for the eyes and palate. ||I worried that we might be the most senior guests and the excursions might be difficult. I needed not to have worried as the guests were of all ages and the excursions challenging but not beyond our abilities. We had fun on each and loved the special surprises that were added to a couple of our activities. | |One last note of praise, the other guests made our visit to Mexico outstanding with their friendliness and graciousness. Thank you to all the lovely people who shared the week with us. The excursions gave opportunity for friendship and camaraderie making for a most special vacation. A 5 star week!

Staying in the jungle @ its finest. Excellent food, not as excellent when buffet service, but then they will accommodate if nothing interests you. Comfortable quiet rooms. Fun Daily activity often requires moderate effort, evening kayak is not to be missed. There for 2 weeks so for a change in 2nd week went to archeological site Xpujil with Victor, great guide & birder. Am wondering/worried how Tren Maya has impacted area & Explorian!? About 4 ½ hour drive from Cancun airport has been worth it, Calakmul, Balamku and "bat volcano" are doable & well worth seeing. Feel like we experienced the real Mexico

This was the best trip I've ever had. June 2019, if I remember correctly. The surrounding jungle had been widely cleared, and I hope that is reversing.

This was an incredible place, the staff is so kind and the place is magic in the middle of the jungle with a paceful contact with nature. The hotel has several activities to do Which were awesome. Definitely, I will return 😉

Our stay at Kohunlich was amazing! I wish we had planned on staying there longer. Such a great value - the quality of the planned daily excursions surprised us. The tour leaders were very knowledgeable and we learned something new on each trip. We loved the location and how it was tucked away in the jungle. The rooms were spacious and private, each one off on its own path. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They went above and beyond for us when my fiance left his jacket in our room after we checked out - they mailed it back to the US for us! The grounds are a little dated - for example, the hot tub wasn't working when we were there. Nonetheless the grounds were generally well-kept.

We loved our stay here! First, location is great if you're interested in the Kohunlich site, which is 3km down the road. I jogged there in there in the morning or it's a pleasant bike ride away. Service is great - all the staff are happy to help and very accommodating. (special kudos to Jesus from Alabama). Food is also very good and they make a real effort to not just vary the menu, but the experiences (e.g. one day there was an outdoor grill). Food and drink are indeed all included and generous. The programming is very thoughtful. There was a cocktail-making class one day. And, every day, there's an excursion. We particularly enjoyed the late-afternoon canoe ride. Just relaxing by the pool and admiring the jungle was perfect. We would happily return!

Really beautiful location, spent many hours in the pool looking into the rainforest. By far the best part is the daily activity. I thought they'd just be run of the mill and I'd end up skipping most, but they took us to such special locations - the stand out being the night time kayak in a nature conservation, just us and the rainforest around us. It was unique and so, so special. A close second was floating down the (gentle) rapids on our backs. Every guide we had was wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic and professional. Often my partner and I were the only English speakers and the guides made sure we got all the information, especially on the nature hike, another amazing activity. Truly, it's hard to pick favorites. Only suggestion is come prepared - I didn't have water shoes and wished I did!||The staff at the restaurant and bar were also tremendous. We had a little mishap where, despite multiple communications and reassurances, the front desk staff did not warn the chef I - with a serious gluten allergy - was coming to stay. The front desk staff could overall be better at communicating information they say they're communicating - both for fellow employees like their Chef who can then prepare ahead of time, as well as the safety of guests - but were otherwise friendly.||Despite being caught off guard, Chef and the servers went absolutely above and beyond to make food I could eat - even when we went on activities they made sure a special meal was packed, and server Pablo in particular went above and beyond to make sure I got to experience as much good food as I could. I was so touched by their care, sincerity and kindness - the hotel is very lucky to have them.||Absolutely recommend a holiday here!

Yelp
A really wonderful stay! Came through a Hilton Timeshare. Found this place extremely remote in the most peaceful, relaxing and wonderful kind of way. The service staff is extremely friendly and wanting to accommodate you in any way. The rooms are simple but comfortable and charming. They provide activities everyday which are highly recommended. The tour guides help explain history, social nuances and fun facts. The drives can be long (an hour one way) but are definitely worth it. They range from kayaking, ruin tours, city exploration, swimming in sink holes etc. They have surprise events sprinkled in throughout! This seems to be a more local Mexican destination vs international but I liked that. It felt special, authentic and unique from other Mexican resorts that cater to more partying and alcohol. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Pets are allowed in the pool, restaurant, and vehicles without restriction if the guest pays the frontdesk workers enough, even if you are allergic. The frontdesk workers make you miss the activity rather than restricting the access of the pets. The people who plan activities assign everyone the same ones regardless of any dissability of the guests. Your only option is to miss those that you cannot be a part of, even though that's the supposed "value" of the place. Do not come!

Yelp
The hotel is very different and special, but the experience was really bad. Even though it is against the rule, pets are allowed in common spaces like pool, shuttles and restaurant if paying the administrator some money. Allergies and disabilities stated at the time of reservation, check in, and during the stay, are disregarded. Guests are disrespectful and abusive, backed up by Shirli Emily from the front desk. There is potential in the hotel to provide an amazing experience, only if rules were to be reinforced, administrators would not be corrupt, guests would be respectful and understand that they do not own the place and need to be mindful of other guests (though if you pay the administration/front desk, you can do whatever you wish). If you want to see what the issues in the Mexican culture are (though the culture has amazing things too), this is the perfect place. Adventure guides and waitresses are very kind, but the administration is very corrupt, dismissing and careless, and guests are disrespectful and abusive. Overall, I do not recommend this place.

Yelp
Extremely wonderful place...a dream.... The Chef, Miguel, was extremely accommodating for my vegeterian meals. The waiters were excellent....and the food...extraordinary! I would like to mention Adriana, by the swimming pool, and the whole team for your daily trips. The bacalar lagoon was breathtaking. the cayaking at night was wonderful and the Kohunlich pyramids were incredible! It was our second time, and we will go a third time. Thank you very much!

Yelp
Highly recommend coming here again and again. It was our first time and we were blown away with the entire experience. The food was fantastic as were beverages. The staff went the extra mile to be sure you were happy and content all the time. It is rustic charm and elegance in the jungle. The tours were so fun and educational - learned so much about the Mayan Culture. Our weather was great - not perfect but we were having so much fun it didn't matter. On the tours we met such lovely people from all over the world and made some wonderful friendships.

Yelp
This is not your typical Mexican resort. Although there are some typical resort offerings, open bar, meals (amazing ones!) included, pool, beautiful surroundings, it's just so much more than that. Every day you have the option to go on an adventure with some of the most personable and knowledgeable guides. Our adventures included a bike ride through a jungle with tour of an abandoned mission that may soon disappear; many Mayan ruins; and floating in a sulfur lagoon. At night, you relax (because there is no wi-fi! Which I ended up loving!) with other hotel guests, playing cards, drinking, swimming in the pool, etc., before returning to your very own air-conditioned bungalow or cabana. The lodging is incredibly clean, the beds are amazing (probably partly due to exhaustion from the adventures) and you even get a porch with a hammock. Every morning we woke up early to sit on our porch to watch all of the beautiful birds and critters go about their daily routine. The cabanas also have their own private pools.
