So great! The feed bags are cheap and give you a generous amount to feed the alpacas. Be careful with the boys because they get competitive with each other for your food and will spit at each other! We got hit in the crossfire but it was fine and makes for a story. The other alpacas were super chill and the farm cat, my gosh, so cute and socialized and just great. The stores really cool albeit a bit spendy but good products there. Learning about the farm was also great, you can tell a lot of work goes in to making a regenerative farm work. Definitely worth a visit!

Google
Krystal Acres was super cute and I am so glad my mom and I stopped in. The alpacas made our day! They were cute and saucy and made the funniest sounds. They loved being fed! They were gentle taking the food (you can purchase it in the shop) out of our hands. The shop was full of alpaca wool items, some even made with wool from Krystal Acres, and the prices were great! A fun place to visit!

Beautiful farm with wonderful hosts! We had so much fun and loved everything about visiting the llamas… such a memorable experience. Highly recommend!

Google
An absolutely delightful visit! The alpacas here are so pretty and cute; you can tell they're definitely used to people.

Google
Such a gem on the island! My toddler had so much fun feeding the sweet alpacas. The feed is super affordable and give you enough to go around the different areas and feed all the animals. The shop is also great, offering a wide range of really good stuff. Friendly staff too. Highly recommend!

Google
Great place for animal lovers and those on a budget! The alpacas are beautiful and come to you for a feeding. Buy the food pellets for $6 to feed alpacas. The store has a lot of great items to purchase. Good selection of clothing, trinkets, and more.

Google
A fun, kid-friendly adventure. The shop is pretty expensive, but it's important to shop local and support those types of businesses. Make sure to grab a bag of feed and head outside to make some unique memories!

Google
Highlight of our trip. The alpacas are the cutest species you will ever come across. Dont forget to feed them . This farm is well maintained and the owners are very friendly and warm as well. Highly recommend you to stop here while you are in the islands!

Yelp
Cute stop to feed alpacas and pigmy goats. A small bag of feed runs $6 and will provide lots of enjoyment, at least for us! The shop has lots of alpaca items and of course, prices are expensive.

Yelp
With a loss at how to spend our final hours of the afternoon on San Juan Island, my bff and I grabbed a few brochures of island activities. Krystal Acres caught our eyes the most, so we decided to make the drive over. For $6 a bag, we were able to feed the alpacas. They were separated by gender and age, and it was so fun to interact with them. Also cool to see was Krystal Acres' alpaca products. Be back if I'm ever on island again!

Yelp
Enjoyed the stop there! Got to feed the alpaca's. Jess was a wealth of knowledge. Beautiful grounds and animals amazing

Yelp
This is an adorable farm and we had a blast. We came here during spring break - it was cold and windy, but who cares. The alpacas were so darn cute. The farm is gorgeous - great for taking pictures - TikTok, Instagram etc. We loved feeding some of the alpacas like little Matcha. We read all the do's and don'ts before engaging with the animals. The pellet bag was $6/bag. You have to first read the signs and when you engage with the animals, put your hand low. I dont recommend this for very little kids. My child is 9 and happily fed the animals. Be courteous to the farm owners - they do back breaking work and are doing their best to answer questions. The store is lovely - we certainly picked up nice gifts. Denise manages the store front and is very gracious. If there are many people at the store at the same time, be patient. They are doing their best to help everyone. I may be ordering gifts for Christmas - as alpaca wool is sustainable and buying local is always great.

Yelp
Alpacas were awfully suspicious of our daughter haha we were told later that alpacas are curious about small children. Definitely keep them close! Farm experience was nice enough and expensive gift shop attached.

Yelp
This was such an unexpected treat on the island. It was a hot day, and we were trying to take in all the sights. We stopped in, and it was such an idyllic, peaceful spot. Beautiful views and the alpacas were grazing. If you buy a bag of little pellets from the gift shop for $6, the alpacas will come right up and nuzzle them right out of your hand. They are so sweet and adorable. We really loved it, and it was definitely a highlight of the trip for our teenaged daughter.
google avatar

Yelp
At least two dozen beautiful alpacas cooling off under a shady tree. Wish we had some shade or we could get closer to pet & touch them. Since we are from a warm climate we don't need to look at alpaca closing and gift items in the shop.

Yelp
The alpacas are adorable and we had so much fun here!

Yelp
When we visited, the alpaca what fresh haircuts from just the day before. The alpaca were adoooooorable. They mostly roll and mosey around and chomp clumps of grass. A very cute and relaxing sight! I think we even heard a couple of them hum, which is apparently something they do when they're happy, like cats purring. A couple alpaca almost got close enough to touch - so tempting. No dogs are allowed on the property, which makes sense since alpaca are sensitive prey animals. The property is not large though, so we felt safe leaving our pup in the car with the windows cracked while we walked around. This was a fun stop!

Yelp
What a wonderful little stop! Our kids had the best time feeding the alpacas. A bag of food you can hold in your palm is $6, a small bucket of hay is $5 ( in 2023) and the memories made were priceless! They have an alpaca scavenger hunt in the shop for the kids too! We all had such a wonderful time with these gentle animals.

Yelp
Review based on the Alpacas only, not the store This place has around 100 Alpacas, very nice atmosphere and kept neat. Along with camels and llamas, alpacas are classified as camelids. Very beautiful place and must visit if you are in San Juan Island
google avatar

Yelp
Alpacas were adorable, one side is girl and the other side is filled with boys. We did not feel welcome here at all. Owners were unfriendly and had that smirking face to every visitor during our visit. Everything is on the pricey side but it's reasonable for a local business. Their products seem okay so far.

Yelp
Did you know that Alpacas are native to South America and raised for their luxury fiber? Their fiber is sheared about once a year in the summer time and they have the widest range of natural colors of any animal (twenty-two!). They feel soft and fine like cashmere, warmer than wool and each alpaca provides for about 6 pounds or so of fiber! There are millions of them in Peru and in the same species as camels and llamas. The fun part of the quick stop is seeing them up close. They are calm creatures that just one of the most unique I have encountered. You can feed them grass and pet them. As for the store, yes the clothes are high priced but you get quality materials. When buying, check to see is made of the premium material called baby alpaca as they are finest they offer. I like the fun gift items like the finger puppets or alpaca stuffed dolls.

Yelp
Think the acres was my favorite thing I came across on FH. A scenic drive not too far from the port, then spotted... ALPACAS!! I really like animals, any really, so getting to go up and beings so close to so many was exciting! You are provided a pathway and they can roam to you but usually keep their distance. Small store with alpaca wool goods to check out as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Took a lap around the island and after a short hike at a nearby park we were suddenly upon a pasture.. full of alpacas!!! If you've never seen an alpaca before get ready to be tickled because they are sooooooo cccuuuuttteeeeee. You get a great view of them just driving by if they're out to pasture, or you can pull off into the store if they're open. The inside is filled with alpaca swag that probably wouldn't appeal to the masses, but if you're looking for a souvenir they have cute alpaca wool socks and the derpiest alpaca pens (think knit alpacas on top!)." The lady at the store was super nice. Most of their product doesn't come from their own farm. We were welcome to walk around and stare at the alpacas, who mostly just eat, poop and roll around on the ground. We also happened to see a GINORMOUS BALD EAGLE just chillin on the ground. Love this place and I'll definitely be back when I'm on the island again to say hello to the cute animals!

Yelp
The weekend before last, my husband and I woke up on our first day on the island and drove all the way out here. It was the very first item on my list of things to do because I love alpacas! We arrived at a tranquil, adorable farm and saw fuzzy alpacas frolicking in the distance. I was happy!!! And then... we encountered a barrier blocking the road with a big sign on it that said, "Closed." Yes, the gate was closed, and there was no way to get to the farm or the store. All I could do was stare longingly at the alpacas from a distance. The Krystal Acres website said that they were open on that day and time, and I called them later that afternoon and left a message, telling them what had happened and asking them to call me back and let me know when they would be open. But no one ever returned my call. I left the island without getting close to an alpaca or seeing the inside of the store. :( I advise you to call and confirm before making the drive out here so that you don't waste your time. Also, be aware that you will likely have no cell service here. I had to drive about 15 minutes away from the farm before I was able to use my cell. (In fact, while exploring San Juan Island, it's a good idea to download a map onto your phone or simply bring a paper map! I have Verizon and rarely had service outside of Friday Harbor.) Anyway, happy alpaca viewing, and may you have better luck than I did. I'm giving this place two stars even though I was only able to gaze at the farm from the outside of the outer gate because it looked absolutely lovely.

Yelp
I was excited to come here and see the alpacas! I was shocked to see how expansive the farm is - they own a lot of land here and the alpacas have plenty of room to run around. They also have more alpacas than I even could have imagined, in all sorts of colors and sizes. When we came over the weekend, it appeared that they had been pretty recently shorn, as you could pretty much see the lines from where they had cut off the wool. They were pretty cute with their short fur. They were more than happy to deal with photo takers and many of them rolled around on the ground or played. Good stop for a photo op and likely a good place to take kids as well. You can walk around the entire farm and see all of the alpacas. They even had a maternity area, though we didn't wander down towards that field. The items in the store are neat, but you almost don't want to touch them because the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. A simple wool hat was between $40-50 dollars! If you keep this in mind before you enter the store, it can be fun to browse and look at the items they have for sale. A fun stop not too far from the English Camp or Roche Harbor!

Yelp
Worth the trip out to Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm! We loved the owner, very passionate, informative and funny. High quality materials, with high quality craftsmanship. And some really cool fashion forward clothes and accessories! Loved the alpaca's (please don't call them llamas, it offends them!) and the beautiful scenery.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Not a lot to do in Friday harbor so this was a pretty fun stop. Easy to just pull over from the road while you're driving around the island and take a look at the alpacas (or buy some alpaca gear inside). They're pretty funny animals to watch it's worth a quick stop
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful store with gorgeous handmade sweaters and one of a kind pieces for newborns. But I came here to see the cute Alpacas.
google avatar

Jannette C.

Yelp
It should be known No Service Animals are allowed. The owner was rude as she made it very clear NO DOGS are allowed. She yelled at us as she told us to leave. It should be advertised so individuals know to avoid them.
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
There was a very nice lady working here the day we visited. A handful of different alpaca goods from clothing pieces, to stuffed animals, to postcards. The farm is beautiful. They allow you to walk around, following the gravel road to the different alpaca enclosures. You don't need much time to spend here, maybe half an hour. Well worth the stop though! Especially is you have children. The alpacas are on the shy side, but if you're lucky, they may be near the fence where you can view them up close and personal.

Mark S.

Yelp
We stopped by this store with enthusiasm...unfortunately, upon purchasing a few items my wife said "Merry Christmas". This was responded to by the proprietor with unbelievable disdain and disgust. If this person's disgust with the overwhelming majority of citizens good natured wishes Is acceptable then we are all in trouble! Go elsewhere!!!
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
The store is stocked with alpaca-wool sweaters, hats, scarves, and gloves--for women, children, and men--as well as throws and toys. The prices are not unreasonable for alpaca items, and the selection is amazing. I've never seen so many alpaca items in one place before. I wished that the items in the store were made from the wool of the alpacas on the Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm, but most items were made in Peru. But yarn and socks made from the wool of the local alpacas were available.
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
It's the alpaca farm, not the store, that is the fun here. Who knew that alpacas were so cute? Who even knew what an alpaca was??? Not me, but I had fun here. The store had pretty things (though yes, WAY expensive) and the animals are just fun to watch. That's about it, but still fun!
google avatar

Brian H.

Yelp
our tour group stopped in for a short visit. we got to feed the animals. love that. beautiful gift shop. should have asked the price before I got to the til. oh well,. its only money,. and it does last forever,. but with canadian exchange it made for the single most expensive item of clothing ever. I think this is a very unique attraction. san juan is a unique place.
google avatar

Violet C.

Yelp
Got to feed the cute creatures. It was a hot day and the owner showed us how much they liked the water. As soon as she turned on the hose they came running for her. It was a hoot seeing them with the hose.
google avatar

Yiling W.

Yelp
Alpacas are weirdly cute animals, but that's about it. The store is prohibitively expensive, except maybe for the rich rich people looking to buy real estate on San Juan Island, so browsing the store can make you feel at once impressed with the maker's skills yet irritated at the price range. Oh well, at least they didn't charge for looking at the widdle alpacas, and they're far inland so the orcas you've been trying to catch a sighting of all day can't eat them.

Allison R.

Yelp
Fun! Even in the rain the alpaca came out to see us. They're very sweet. It's a quick stop, not a ton to do, but seeing 54 alpaca is not an every day occurrence so try it. The shop owners might not be the warmest people you'll meet, but it's a cute little farm. The alpaca made it worth it.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Alpaca products are very good quality but a bit pricey for me. The people who work here are very nice though and I liked going sometimes to visit the Alpacas
google avatar

Joshua J.

Yelp
"What's the difference between an alpaca and a llama?" "Well, an alpaca is half the size of a llama, and twice as cute." Ummm, understatement, they are like the cutest things on the planet. You've got to see them! Plus, you're right in the area, the island is pretty small. Total worth the trip to meet the alpacas. Nice stuff in the store, too rich for my blood though (like $120 for a hat). Best part: they have skins of alpaca yarn made from the locals, and they have the picture and name of the alpaca that you're knitting. How awesome is that?!?! C'mon! ! Go see the alpaca farm! Super friendly people to boot. Thanks for listening!
google avatar

Florence C.

Yelp
Nice place to bring kids. Can't pet the alpacas but they're fun to watch. The shop is filled with pretty but expensive things. Shopkeeper wasn't particularly friendly. Our toddler loved the alpaca finger puppets, which were pretty much the only things we could afford in that store.
google avatar

Chelsea L.

Yelp
This place is more of a tourist attraction than a store. Most people do not actually go into the store. My friends looked in, but they were not going to buy anything. The alpaca are adorable and even one of my friends who had no interest in stopping originally, really enjoyed her time there. Alpaca are unique animals so this place is worth the stop to say hello.
google avatar

The S.

Yelp
Most people don't come here for the store. The animals are the fun part. Now if only tourists could figure out how to use the driveway instead of the road to look at them. Those with more money than the need to be sensible like to shop at the store. I like to go when the babies are just born in the spring. So cute!

George K.

Yelp
Alpacas are total darlings, but this shop's owner is not. She clearly loves animals but does not extend herself to show kindness to humans. There is no reason to make rude remarks to customers because they are not as willowy as her. Plus their colors must have been selected by someone wanting to punish the customers. I have never seen a shop filled with clothing all in such depressing muddy colors. The alpacas themselves are generally in a far-off field and there are two layers of fencing to separate you from them, so that even if some of them should decide to wander close to the fence, they will not be close to you. As I said, loves her animals, but not the humans.
google avatar

Pat D.

Yelp
Enjoyed walking the farm and watching the alpacas. Very pleasant place to walk around; the owner was very friendly and shared many details about her animals. There was a newborn alpaca that we got to observe with her mama. A great place to stop on the island.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
On a recent visit to Friday Harbor I decided to drive around the island and just happened upon the alpaca farm. They are so adorable. Got some great pictures because they were pretty close to the fence. They also very camera friendly. The shop was interesting. I was surprised by the prices. Bought a few postcards to support the farm. Definitely check the alpacas out if you have the time.
google avatar

Daniel V.

Yelp
whatever you do, don't let your toddler play with the alpaca toy. It's not for children! only the alpaca teddy bears in the back are for children. That's why it sitting there by the alpaca socks at the front counter at eye level of every toddler that walks into the store. This lady loves her alpacas but I think she eats little children. Buyer Beware.
google avatar

Thomas P.

Yelp
Very rude and disrespectful service! Went in to try on a hat I was interested in buying and the woman at the counter rudely came up to me and implied that I shouldn't try it on because I didn't look like I can afford it!
google avatar

Kelli J.

Yelp
It was so fun to visit such a lovely farm. No, the alpacas, all shorn for summer were not looking beautiful, but they were cute with those big heads and very little fur. The hostess was so nice, letting us know the history of her husband's family owning the farm and inviting us to walk down the path to see a new baby! The gifts in the shop were all very nice and high quality and we enjoyed the stop!

Cheryl K.

Yelp
The store was nice, but expensive. When we visited the alpaca farm, the owners were very rude. If they don't want visitors, then they should not advertise...too bad, because the alpacas were very cute.

E O.

Yelp
Very mellow farm where you can walk out and see the alpacas. Are four and six-year-olds loved it. The store was super cute. They have alpaca pens for $5 which are great gifts plus plenty of very nice alpaca sweaters, scarves, etc. worth checking out. It was about a 30 min visit for us.

Chuck C.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place as we traveled around San Juan. Had a great time talking to the husband about his truck, looking at all the alpacas and shopping inside. Kids had a great time - got a free education on the animals and where they were from! We had a wonderful experience in the store with the owner who was extremely nice. Lots to look at and VERY helpful in looking at items. I see several comments about how expensive items are in the store. I would say you get what you pay for. I've never owned a new car and have plenty of $2 t-shirts so please don't think I'm a "high-roller". Once you understand the properties of the alpaca wool you are buying and the quality they offer here, the price is quite reasonable. A lot of stuff you see elsewhere is a sheep wool or cotton (?!?!) blend w the alpaca. A majority of the clothing in the store was 100% alpaca and a lot of it was baby alpaca - the best stuff out there. Amazing place, wonderful people and a great experience!! Cannot wait to return.
