Disappointing from start to finish.
My husband and I are selective about where we eat out in general, but especially for a special occasion evening and babysitter night. We carefully chose the Farm Cafe for our wedding anniversary dinner based on a past positive experience and the wide selection of vegetarian plates (I am vegetarian, my husband is not). Our experience was not good in any way on the evening we ate here. When we arrived for our reservation, 5 minutes early, there was no host at the door. There were other parties just standing around wondering what was going on. We took a seat and relaxed, but it was at least another 3 minutes before we were even acknowledged, and a good 10-15 later before we were actually seated, despite a reservation and the place not being busy yet (it was 6:30!). The outdoor tables are very lovely. Our server had that special Portland attitude of apathy and annoyance at being asked to serve us that we sometimes encounter at more high end hipster restaurants, and while he wasn't rude to us, he wasn't friendly. We ordered an appetizer to split, a beet salad to split, 2 entrees, and a bottle of wine. We had our wine delivered, we had the appetizer, then about 30 minutes later, our entrees showed up. Mine was too salty and cold (ravioli). Our server came back around a while later to see how things were, and I asked about the salad, and he said with complete nonchalance, "Oh, we're out of that. How's the food?" I told him it was a bit too salty, and said I was surprised they were out of something and didn't bother to ask if we wanted to change our order, or send us a replacement with an explanation. I had also noticed other tables were served bread as they waited, so I asked for some. He said "I'll let the chef know" and left. I'm sure he didn't let anyone know. We did get some bread, after we were done eating our cold food. We really regretted our choice of The Farm Cafe for our special evening out and we likely won't be giving them another chance.
