The Fat Cactus Gardens

Been here a couple times. Seems to be losing its quality both in food and service over time. We were here for a birthday and the waitress was mopey and reluctant even when we asked for simple things like utensils or water. The food was really sub par. Soggy and bland soft tacos in a weird bowl so eating it is awkward. The 3 amigos sliders were 90% bread and they all tasted the same because they all get the same tomato base sauce. This place seems to be good for drinks and simple meals like the hot chicky burger which I heard was tasty. I commend them on their vegan options too. These are nice.

Absolutely love this restaurant!! Food is amazing, we’ve visited three times now and the Greek lamb tacos, chipotle tacos, cauliflower app and the cheesy nachos remain delicious. Mal took such good care of us and made some great recommendations! Very happy to visit again

Very delicious Mexican food and big portions. They offer vegetarian and vegan options which is great! Service staff is very polite. The prices are okay! The location is kind of a restaurant mixed with a Pub where they also show sports. I can totally recommend this place :)

Fabulous bar! (And conveniently located if you are staying at the Canopy by Hilton.) Bartenders Nigel and Mpho were spectacular…friendly and efficient service. Can’t beat that! Reasonable prices, also. And happy hour daily!

My husband and I shared some dishes at Fat Cactus. One reason why I gave lesser stars was that I ordered Quesadillas with beans, but I got Quesadillas with vegetables. It tasted good, but I thought it was weird, that they didn’t mention it to me although I saw she was discussing it with her colleagues before she brought my plate. That made me a little worried about the rest of our order, because we ordered everything vegan and one can just hope they didn’t mess that part of the order up :-( my husband had fajitas with (hopefully) vegan chicken and he liked it. We also shared (hopefully) vegan cheezy nachos but they were very soggy and not crispy. Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be - my bad. The waitress was nice but she also wasn’t attentive when our drinks were finished and we had to wave after a while to get her attention. Other than that and the messed up order she was attentive though. The interior design with the cowboy/country theme was very nice to look at. The portion sizes are very large, so the prices are ok. All in all the three stars I gave aren’t bad, it just means I have been to better restaurants for my personal taste.

Initially we liked the spot, beautiful and cosy which was perfect for the cold evening and unfortunately that’s the only good thing I have to say about the place. The tacos we received were very stale, hot chocolate was cold and extremely watery and servers were on their phones not even checking in on us. After 30 minutes of receiving our food the waitress finally paid attention to us where I informed her that my hot chocolate was very cold and the tacos were stale and I requested that I have the hot chocolate warmed and I’d like nothing else from the kitchen to which she ignored and proceeded to bring us the tacos remade which I did say I was no longer interested in as time has gone by and the evening was done for us. Another lady came to give us our bill and we saw the tacos on the bill and we said we already asked for them not to make them (they were untouched by us) to which she responded they already opened a new packet for us (again, we didn’t ask for this) but eventually we agreed to take it off the bill. I also saw our waitress walking away angrily to the other staff members huffing and puffing as if we did something wrong . Staff really needs to be trained better. 2/10 overall experience

Their margarita jugs are perfect for friends sharing on a social night out. Their staff are super helpful and friendly! On that note, the staff went out of their way to inform me that their chicken is halal and cooked using washed utensils (not separately designated ones unfortunately but that’s up to your belief) Thoroughly enjoyed our time in this lively atmosphere with a great location!

Had a Burger and ordered Quesadillas the say before. Food was crazy good and this place has a great vibe! Waitresses were very considerate. Even have places to charge you phone. Can only recommend!
