Rajat Suresh and Jeremy Levick’s Grub Street Diet

"A plant-based burger made from mushrooms, lentils, and vegetables that the speaker returns to; it stands out amid many disappointing veggie patties and is sought as a soy-free alternative to avoid certain stereotypes." - Chris Crowley

Food was delicious. One of the best burgers I've ever had. There were a lot of unique and yummy entree options. Side salad options included a smaller version of any of their large salads. Tried two of them and they were both very good. Service was great. I was worried that as a golf course restaurant it would be stuffy but it was very welcoming, fast service, and accommodating.

We visited The Field Burger & Tap as a party of five while in town for a graduation, and it was a great choice! The food was flavorful and memorable. We started with the truffle fries—crispy and seasoned just right. The candied bacon was a standout: perfectly balanced with brown sugar, cayenne, honey drizzle, and scallions—absolutely delicious. The steak sandwich was well-seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the Caesar salad topped with hot chicken tossed in buffalo sauce was a great twist on a classic. We also enjoyed the giant fried pickle spears—crunchy and full of flavor. The restaurant itself is set on a beautiful golf course, giving it a relaxing and scenic atmosphere. Great food, great service, and a perfect spot for any occasion!

I'm not sure if I'll be back, the kitchen did wonderful, but our waiter was terrible. We were a party of 5 in an empty restaurant on a monday afternoon between meals 3:45pm. We were ignored after our intial drinks until our food came. After the food came we asked for ketchup 4 times before it arrived and their fries were near gone. As for the food, we ordered the poutine fries that were delicious along with the dambauchery, the hoot, and the hot chick. They initially brought out the wrong food for myself but quickly fixed it and did not charge me for either and allowed me to keep both. The kids had the Mac and cheese (kraft) and fries with no complaints. Aside the waiter which hopefully was just having an off day it was a pleasant place to eat, quite nestled in the trees along the golf course.

Things were hopping at The Field Burger and Tap last night. Kinda fun to experience the Penn State Coaches Show live, even if it did make dinner conversation a bit challenging. Folx were also coming in dressed to the nines for an auction on site, too. We enjoyed another great meal, as well! Their Milkshakes ( hard, last night ) are a delicious work of art. Had the Mint Chocolate Chip last night, and tried to balance the indulgence with the Mandarin Salad; chicken added. It’s a great salad, love, love, love the sweetness of the oranges and cranberries with the arugula contrast, and the dressing was yummy too. The warm pretzel that comes with is so much better than bread or fries that other restaurants serve with their salads. The salads are generous, I brought home half. Bruce enjoyed his Lion’s Mule to start, and yes, he ate the entire Lancaster Burger, which he’s proclaimed the best burger in State College, and all his fries!

Amazing food! Despite it being very busy, we had great service! I got the steak sandwich and sweet potato fries which was incredible- the flavors of the rosemary ciabatta and horseradish mayo go together so well. Only small complaint is my fries came out burnt but they quickly replaced them. My boyfriend got the hot chick burger and parm fries and he said all of it was perfect. We also ordered the Oreo shake to share and they kindly offered to split it for us. 1000% will be back

Was in State College for a work conference. Tried this place out with my coworkers and was not disappointed. We ordered wings, fried pickle spears, and the pretzel as appetizers which were all very good. I ordered the Juicy Lucy burger which I also thought was very good as well. Our server Alex was great all evening. Will be back the next time I am in State College.

The Field Burger & Tap is hands-down one of the best spots to eat in State College. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming — upscale casual with a cozy, modern rustic feel that works for everything from date night to a laid-back dinner with friends. The food is outstanding. The burgers are next-level — juicy, creative, and made with locally sourced beef. The fries (especially the duck fat ones) are addictive, and the milkshakes? Unbelievable. Plus, their commitment to local ingredients really shines through in the flavor and freshness. The tap list is always solid, featuring a great variety of Pennsylvania craft beers and ciders. And the staff? Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to make your experience a great one. If you're in the State College area, The Field is a must-visit. It’s more than just a burger place — it’s a culinary experience that hits all the right notes.

This has long been one of my favorite State College restaurants. I’ve never had bad food here. In fact, my wife said that her burger on our most recent trip is one of the best she’s ever had. I had the steak sandwich, which was delicious. Our drinks were really great, too, as were the Parmesan and truffle fries. We ate at the bar and enjoyed the bartender’s company. It’s a great place!! Definitely highly recommend it.
