Nice place: fireplace, big windows (pretty with the light snow that was falling), comfortable chairs. The TVs jarred a bit; felt like someone on staff wanted it to be a sports bar, but there was opposition to the idea and it wasn't fully carried out.
Service was good, attentive and knowledgeable.
The food...the poutine came in a bucket, which was kind of fun, but a lot of the cheese wound up in the bottom. The gravy - which was really good - came in a cruet, so you could apply it yourself, which I liked. The actual fries were delicious.
But the burgers, which are the main hype for the place, literally in the name, were disappointing. They weren't bad, and the brioche roll and Goot Essa cheese were quite good. But the burger itself (I had the "Wagyu beef") was just... bland. It was rare, as requested, but not particularly juicy or flavorful. I've had better burgers at dive bars, like the Frosty Hook in Spring Mills.
Ultimately left feeling disappointed. It was like going to see a Broadway show that's centered on the main character - the burger! - and we got the understudy.
