My wife and I spent six nights at The Fielding and were very pleased with the location, the accommodations, and the staff. ||We specifically chose a hotel in Covent Garden because it was central to many of the sites we intended to visit and allowed us to keep our use of public transportation to a minimum. Because the neighborhood is very popular, there were always people on the street, which made us feel safe. In addition, we found a very pleasant cafe-- one of the chain of Caffe Neros in the city--nearby and had our breakfast there every morning.||We were given a first floor room that more than met our needs (and saved us from lugging our bags up the narrow stairs). It was both charming and comfortable. (My wife particularly liked comfort of the bed.) Being that it was April, we were also pleased that we had plenty of heat in the room. Though we were blessed by largely excellent weather while in town, with warm and mostly sunny days, the evenings would get cool and the last thing you'd want would be to return to a chilly room.||The staff were very friendly and Sajaad, the hotel's general manager, was very helpful in making recommendations and answering any questions we might have.||We look forward to returning to The Fielding on our next trip to London.

I had a terrible experience at The Fielding Hotel. The room was extremely small and cramped, with a broken AC and fan — making it miserable in the heat. There’s no elevator, and we had to drag all our luggage up a narrow, steep staircase with no assistance. The toilet seat was crooked and uncomfortable, adding to the overall neglect. Customer service? Practically nonexistent. The staff were rude and clearly uninterested in helping guests. Overall, just an incredibly disappointing and frustrating stay. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Two things we specifically requested by email on booking. Was Air conditioning, and super king bed. Both were confirmed via email. On arrival Air conditioning was not working, and the bed was not as requested. Reception could not get hold of anyone to repair Air con.Not even a manager. It was far to hot in the room. They said they couldn't move us as no other room was available. But they could move us the next night. I asked for Reception to log a complaint and request compensation. Neither of us slept that night. Next day we were moved. We were told to email our complaint and they would arrange compensation. This we did on numerous occasions and have not had any response. Non existent customer service. Would the owners of this hotel like to reply or get in touch. Update To all readers. The owners did not reach out to apologise for our awful stay, or to discuss the issues we had had even though we had previously emailed our requests and had an email back. Confirming our requests. Or make an offer of compensation. So for all future patrons of this hotel, please be aware that the owner will not properly respond to any complaints. The reception staff can not get in touch with maintenance, manager or owner when needed. Disgraceful

This hotel is great little hotel and well worth a visit if you are in the area. We paid £207 for a double room. The room was clean and reasonably presented. It had a TV ( which we didn’t turn on) tea, coffee (like most places the coffee was Nescafé, which I’m not complaining about but personally I bring my own) the room was a good size. Air conditioning. The bathroom was appropriate, shower was good enough. The carpet was a little worn in the room. The two staff we met were very helpful and polite. For what we paid this was a great little hotel, I’ll definitely return in the future. Thank you!

I feel so lucky to have found this complete gem of a hotel in central London. I've passed this place for years but only recently found it by chance via Booking, com. The rooms are very nice, comfortable bed, nice shower. Receptionist was very friendly too. It's in an amazing location and feels so lovely to support a smaller company rather than the big hotel companies. Can't recommend highly enough.

It's a well located hotel, the lady on reception was friendly, the bed was very comfortable and room surfaces were clean... .....unfortunately the hotel is very tired with worn/stained carpets, walls in the room are marked, badly painted, water marks above the stairs to the ensuite. Mis matched, chipped furniture, mould/mildewy bathroom celing, old dated carpets and curtains. We didn't have water glasses in our room, just two small teacups. We asked for glasses and got wine glasses, which was fine as we wanted to toast our wedding Anniversary, but i thought glasses were a simple expectation in a hotel room. If it was refurbished and some time and care went into the cosmetics of the rooms so the walls are clean and nicely painted, carpets clean and updated and furniture isn't damaged, it would be lovely. Its an old building, so it will have imperfections. I don't mind it not being contemporary inside as its an old building, but it needs some love and TLC to be a nice basic hotel.

Great location but room was small, a bit dated and definitely needed a refresher. Window was hard to open so no air. There was no lift unfortunately as room was on 2nd floor. Room contained basic amenities including a bottle of water (no fridge fyi). The manager at Reception was rude and not very friendly. Thankfully Elena at Reception was incredibly helpful and offered excellent customer service as it was my first trip to the UK.

A bit disappointed with our double room. The room was very small and the bathroom even smaller. The bed was very firm even with a thin topper. No hotel facilities as such just 24 HR reception. More like a serviced room. The room was hot the air-conditioning system worked but was very noisy. The Location & exterior of the building are great. Male receptionist came over as being a bit grumpy when we asked about storage of our small bag for a few hours. We would stay here again NO. Just had a very nasty insulting reply to my post from the manager belittling my review. TBH shows the Calabria of the man in charge. Absolutely shocking

Yelp
Great area. Trade off, the hotel sucks. Shower handle broke off mid shower, ceiling leaking water all day, thin walls/loud staff, loud area, loud pipes, etc. No internal door locks, no do not disturb option, broken thermostat. 0/10.

Yelp
I first stayed at the Fielding in 1995 and I have never bothered to find accommodation somewhere else in London. If you arrive at Heathrow Airport you can use the Piccadilly Line to Covent Garden without changing trains. From the station it is a three-minute-walk to the hotel. Rooms are well-appointed, staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The only drawback is that you have to reserve well in advance. Considering the location, rates are still decent, although they went up recently. Breakfast is not offered on the premises, but there are a lot of nice cafés in the vicinity.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night this week and was very impressed. The hotel is reasonably priced, not the cheapest around but not prohibitively expensive, and I think it's great value given the location. It's not the most luxurious hotel, but it's definitely comfortable enough for a few nights. It's tucked away on a side street by Covent Garden and I was impressed by how quiet it was for the middle of London. Check in was fine and the staff at the desk were friendly. I'm not a huge fan of having to leave the key when you go out, but that's not a massive issue. The stairs to the upper floors are quite narrow, so I imagine some people might have trouble navigating them. I was offered assistance with my bag which was nice. Our room wasn't huge, but there was enough to space, and the bed was lovely and big. The bathroom was also quite compact but nicely done out with plenty of toiletries provided. I also thought the bedroom was nicely decorated. The only 2 complaints I have are; the pillows were weird (one normal, one foam block?!), and the room was a bit stuffy. However I would happily stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Yelp
My family of 4 stayed here and loved it. The location is perfect, and the price is a steal, considering the city. The concierge were extremely helpful and friendly, and we were right by a tube stop. When we come back I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

Yelp
I had a hell of a time trying to find affordable accommodations in the heart of London, and that was 2005! Luckily, The Fielding's rates have only slightly increased in the last four years (then: 80 pounds; now: 90 pounds for a verysmall single room with a toilet and shower). But for a gal traveling by herself to London for the first time, and knowing no one, it was a great central location for almost everything I wanted to do and see: museums, restaurants, pubs, cafes, sightseeing. Within walking distance or a short jaunt on the Tube you have Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Soho, Oxford Street, the Thames, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace. Westminster Abbey, the Tate Modern... Before I arrived in London, the proprietor gave me walking directions from the nearest Tube station, and Covent Garden is on a direct route to / from Heathrow - a welcome blessing for my airplane-swollen feet. Pluses: the hotel is tucked away in a beautiful old building in a beautiful part of town, utterly walkable by day and early evening, and near everything a first-timer might want to see. The windows overlook a stunning stone courtyard. While the rooms are not anything to write home about, they're very clean and cheap, by London standards, and the desk clerk was always friendly. Minuses: Tiny stairways made getting my luggage up to the 5th floor quite an acrobatic feat - luckily I packed light. From time to time, especially late at night on the weekends, the areas abutting Covent Garden can turn into the zone of the debauched teenage riot. Oh, it's probably harmless - just lots of swearing and breaking bottles and sweaty young people acting like wankers - but not my scene, to be certain. The biggest minus, however, is that the "real" nightlife in London - the stuff of legend - is far from the heart of tourist London - nary a warehouse rave in sight from theater row.

Yelp
I stayed here a couple of years ago when visiting family in London. It is on a lamp lit Street which added to the quaintness of it. The staff were really freindly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. It is very central to Covent Garden and is just across from the Royal Opera House. When I go back I will definitely be staying here again

Yelp
Great hotel with friendly staff In a nice location away from the riff-raff The rooms were large with flat screen TVs And all the beds were large and comfy as I could see The shower had pressure and heat And getting lots of free toiletries was very neat. Good hotel, would stay again Good luck and amen

Yelp
Great location, very close to shops, grocery and hustle and bustle of Covent garden. Yet it's located on a quaint and quiet side street. Rooms are well maintained, staff are very kind and hospitable. 24 hour desk open. Most importantly, the bathroom is very clean and modern. Great price for location, will definitely recommend to others.

Yelp
Quiet little hotel in Covent Garden. I'm on business trips to High Holborn quite often and really love staying in the Fielding Hotel. Yes, it's small with (mostly) tiny rooms and narrow corridors. Yes, it's a little old-fashioned. Yes, it's dark green inside. But hey, it's a nice and convenient hotel that has everything I need on a business trip: A safe and tidy and quiet place to sleep, reasonably priced (especially for London!). As said, the Fielding Hotel might look and feel a little old-fashioned, but it has its own charm. Definitely not the place to impress business partners, hold conferences (they don't have conference rooms) or spend your holidays. But I'd rather stay here than in an anonymus concrete bunker with a spa, it's special. The owner is constantly improving the quality of the rooms and hotel in general and the staff is always very helpful and friendly, not just for returning visitors. I like it.
