Google
Quaint seafront restaurant that serves up fresh locally sourced products for the menu. The restaurant is situated in an old Victorian cloakroom. The menu is small but has a nice variety of dishes. There is an extensive wine list. The service was good but not overly intrusive. The restaurant has a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Always enjoy the views and atmosphere at the Fig Tree and this sunny Sunday visit was no exception. Views across the Channel and a welll cooked vegetarian roast dinner made for a great visit. With 3 veggie starters, the nut and tofu roast, plus several deserts we had plenty of choice. All food was good quality and great value.

Outstanding! My mother and I had seen this place for some years and we always wanted to visit. The food is clearly prepared by an experienced chef and was delicious and special. Strongly advise booking as it's so popular. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Simply perfect. Thank you. Top tip: If you like fresh fish or a special recipe burger then you'll find nothing better than here.

Google
Lovely location looking out onto the sea. We had five roasts, each of us trying a different option and all were substantial and delicious. The desserts were also outstanding. Great drinks menu, including soft drinks, which makes a pleasant change for the non-drinkers. Friendly service and pleasant atmosphere.

Google
Excellent venue - sought out following Good Food Guide recommendation. Food was lovely, and with a nice day sitting outside is extremely nice with a good view out onto the sea. The menu isn't too extravagant which is a good thing and makes sense to go for fish options. My only slight issue is when sitting outside people often walk up through the seating area thinking its public toilets and one visit the service was good but a bit on the slow side but otherwise no complaints.

Yelp
Nice location and menu choice. Food didn't 100% match the description on the menu but was still fresh and good tasting. Would have been 4 stars if the food was a bit cheaper.

Yelp
This has a great location in Penarth, but the food and wine are hit and miss, and for larger tables you have to remind them to remove the deposit from the bill or risk paying £5 extra a head. Both the white wines we tried weren't very fresh or flavourful. The Spanish fababda didn't have much of a flavour of paprika or other heat, and was mismatched with a single slice of sweet focaccia. The burgers come in ciabatta rolls that are very crusty and so not very easy to eat in usual burger style. The side-salads come with quite a lot of raw onion, which happens to be fine for me, but isn't so great for kids who you're trying to encourage to eat their veg! It's a shame to have no kids' menus or even kid-size plates. The tastiest thing was the garlic bread (where the focaccia did work) and the moules, although frites have to be bought separately!

Yelp
This is one of new favourite places, just discovered in time to enjoy the best of summer while eating Al Fresco and enjoying the view from the roof top terrace. I first fell for the views but I saw the Halloumi cheese starter and was totally won over. Mains wise I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have more fish choices since it over looks the sea and fish would be my ideal choice. Still what I did have was fresh and looked beautiful and tasted delicious and what's more was reasonably priced. The service was much better than expected and I noticed when I was having dinner that they do a lunch menu with 2 courses for a tenner. Sounds like a bargain to me.

Yelp
Beautifully located on the Penarth seafront, this restaurant is also surrounded by lovely gardens, providing an almost perfect setting. With both indoor and outdoor seating, this is recommendable all year round, despite poor weather likely to dampen the views and opportunity to sit outside. The interior is designed very nicely, with a lovely atmosphere embracing diners upon entry. Once seated at the very well presented tables, the menu provides a mouth-watering selection of variations on British classics. Almost just from reading the menu, the expectation of high quality food is hard to play down. Eating at either breakfast, lunch or during the evening, the menu should provide something for everyone. The starters are presented beautifully, as are the main meals. The food is definitely freshly prepared and cooked, which makes a real difference to the quality of ones meal. In the evening there are also a nice selection of desserts, as well as a well-stocked bar providing alcoholic and non-alocholic drinks.

Yelp
While wandering around the sea front with some friends, looking for a place to have some dinner, we stumbled across this place. With a lovely location, outdoor balconies and a fantastic view over the Bristol Channel, we were certainly expecting this place to have expensive prices. But, after having a little gander at the prices outside the place, were were very pleasantly surprised by the figures we found. For some really delicious sounding dishes, the prices were no higher than most restaurants. Yum. So in we went and were quickly seated and served, and the food was everything that we could have asked for. The service was impeccable and we were in and out all within an hour and half. This place can be very popular, so it might be worth phoning ahead and booking on busy nights. Especially if you particularly want to sit outside, as this is the prime location. In short, this is a lovely little place on Penarth sea front, with surprisingly reasonable prices.

Yelp
Went here today after just missing last orders at the neighbouring restaurant that we usually use. After being asked rather moodily if we had booked we were grudgingly offered a table and ordered the 2 course Sunday roast at £17. The beef and yorkshire puddings were very nice however, the roasts and the rest of the main course was in our opinion rather bland, however, the dessert was very nice. As to the 'service', it was almost non existent. After ordering we were left and ignored whilst the waitresses seemed more interested in fawning over tables occupied by what were clearly regulars. Nobody even came to ask if we were enjoying our meal. All in all it was a very disappointing experience and we won't be going again.

Yelp
Easily one of my favourite places in the whole of Wales. The food here is always good, the staff put in a lot of effort and the views of the Penarth beach are fantastic. On a nice day there aren't too many other places I'd rather be. My only quibble is that if you pay by card their system does not allow you to add gratuity. The Fig Tree staff work hard; they deserve to be rewarded for their efforts. So, my advice is to bring some cash for the tip.

Yelp
What can I say about this restaurant! It is one of the nicest restaurants I have ever visited. I have been there a few times for both lunch and dinner. The food is exceptional and the staff are wonderful. I brought my elderly neighbour to the Fig Tree a couple of weeks ago. My neighbour had not been out for a few weeks and after a walk along Penarth Pier we went to the Fig Tree, she ate every scrap on the plate and I was amazed as I had never seen her eat that much before. The food is beautifully presented and very tasty. The restaurant has fantastic views across the Bristol Chanel and in the summer, you can sit on the roof and relax with a drink before being called to your table, either indoors or outdoors. Once visited, I guarantee you will visit again and again.
