Unfortunately we had reserved for lunch and were so looking forward to our experience which was lacking to say the least. They had none of the gins I was looking for even after having almost 100 on the menu. Then came ordering food, the waiter didn't write anything down so of course forgot we had ordered 3 Oysters. When our mains came they were what we would call side plates. We really couldn't get out of here quick enough. Sorry but not for me, overpriced and nothing special.

Nice Food, nice bar and friendly staff. My only complaint was the food wasn't really hot? Maybe served on a cold plate speeded that process up, but my steak was warm at best and by the time I was done was actually cold.

We’ve always been fans of The Finniestone and it really helps that they are doggo friendly But we loved our dinner on the Thursday night so much we came back on the Friday lunch when we came through Glasgow on our way on holiday. Both outstanding. Plenty of gluten free options - and one big one worth a mention is the gluten free battered squid - not sure what they make that batter with but it was delicious with a really nice dip. Oysters = amazing - actually had one of the best oysters of my life on the Thursday night. My friend said the same. Seabass ceviche = delicious. Oh the fired mackerel was sooooooo good. I want a fan of the peach thing with it but that’s just me, my hubby loved it. I loved the fennel (I think it was) Mussels both times = banging This place also does the most beautiful New Zealand sauvignon blanc. My hubby and pal LOVED the mac and cheese with brown shrimp in it and a seafood crust. I had a cheeky taste and it was good (I’m gluten intolerant not coeliac). But the good news for coeliac’s is that they have a GF frier! The only thing these guys could do to excel more and we are being really fussy here, would be: GF DF Mac and cheese on the menu - I think it would be popular GF fish supper / fish fingers - opening the option up to a wider audience Oh and my hubby said he would like more of the seafood crust on the Mac and cheese - like a layered vibe. He just really liked the crust. I realise we are being very demanding now - can’t wait to see you next time

Google
Enjoyed dining at The Finnieston today. It’s got a great atmosphere—exactly what you’d hope for in a British pub that specializes in seafood. I kept it simple and went with the fish and chips. The food was good, the service was quick, and the prices were reasonable. Probably about a 4 out of 5 stars, and I’d be happy to return.

Great variety of tasty seafood dishes, and a nice open backyard to enjoy them at! Staff were very friendly and the service was pretty fast.

Made a reservation for yesterday early evening to celebrate a special occasion with my wife. Staff extremely friendly and very attentive but unfortunately I can't say the same for the food. £50.00 for a "cote de boeuf" small portion of Ribeye beef with a huge bone, totally over priced for what was served. £19.00 for haddock and chips which was nothing special.

Yelp
We ordered lunch special for mussels @ 10 pounds each. Delicious and good potions for price. Would definitely eat here again. Server was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
When my better half wants something she usually gets it. Since we were going to Glasgow Scotland she insisted that we go to dinner at The Finnieston Sea food and Pub. It is not located in the hip touristy area next to Planet Hollywood. It is a small unassuming pub in a working class neighborhood. We walked from Glasgow University (looks like Hogwarts) which turned out to be a longer walk than Google made it seem. It was cold and drizzly just like Scotland should be so when we got there we were ready. We didn't have reservations but they were extremely nice and sat us down. This is a Pub. Just what you are picturing in your head right now. Dark, lots of dark wood, old crumbling bricks. I love this decor. We started with a couple of appetizers I ordered the Salmon Tartar and my wife ordered the smoked duck breast. I ordered a cold pint my wife had a glass of white wine. We decided to also have a half dozen local oysters. The waitress asked if we were expecting someone else. I guess 3 appetizers is not normal for 2. We were just getting started. Once we demolished all 3 appetizers I followed up with the Pan Seared Gigha Halibut my wife had the steamed Shetland Mussels. What a treat. All the seafood is local and very fresh. All of our dishes from beginning to end were tops. A truly historic dining experience from a historic eatery. In Glasgow then GO...... to The Finnieston. See what I did there. BTW we also had dessert.

Yelp
First of all the place is super nice and cool. The food are super delicious. Very nice cocktails as well. The stuff are very friendly. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because of the waiting time either to be seated or to wait for the main dishes. It took very long time. So plan ahead to spend some good time in there. Otherwise, everything was amazing and I would definitely go back again maybe this time to try their fish & chips because it looked so good.

Yelp
My daughter and I were happy to have found The Finnieston to enjoy seafood on our last night in Scotland. When we walked in the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and were lucky to be seated at a table next to the fireplace, What a cozy ambience! We started with a couple glasses of white wine and an order of sourdough with malted butter and smoked salt. My daughter went with the Scottish Seafood Curry for her main while I went with the Musselburgh Sole, which comes with Orkney crab, potatoes, kale, and capers. Everything was fresh, delicious and perfect! Between the great service, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere, we would not hesitate to come here again.

Yelp
Great atmosphere!! We sat by the fire in a cozy little booth. Food was good as well. Service was superb. The portion of the lobster was a bit on the small size but that is the only complaint

Yelp
OK, our second visit to The Finnieston came about through a 5pm Valentine's deal offering 3 courses and a glass of prosecco for £49. Not a bad deal, we thought as we booked it online. We turned up at the restaurant to find that they apparently had no record of our booking. Luckily, my ever-prepared better half had a printout of the email that we could waft under their faces and, after some off-stage discussion with the manager, they soon managed to find us a table at the window. The next surprise came when the server listed all the dishes that were not part of the deal, almost half the menu as it turned out. For those other dishes, there was a £5 per portion surcharge. We went ahead and ordered the hake, which I don't think was on the proscribed list (although there was some uncertainty about this when the bill arrived). After having to remind them about the free glass of prosecco, I ordered a bottle of Malborough Savignon Blanc (which was rather tasty, I must say), in the process failing to notice in the dim lighting (plus the fact that it was printed in pale red ink and I didn't have my glasses on) that the price was £36 a bottle and not the £25.50 that I thought it was (that was for a half-bottle!). Anyway, the food was very nice, although the sauce with the hake was perhaps a little overpowering. Some interesting combinations of flavours and certainly some adventurous dishes that were tasty, even if they didn't entirely work. Next, the bill... here again, they seem to have completely forgotten that we had pre-paid on the 5pm deal, and presented us with a full-price bill. After a couple of trips to the bar to get this sorted out with the manager, I *think* we managed to work things out satisfactorily, but it wasn't easy. All in all, we paid £86 for that meal; to be fair, the wine was £36 (and was probably the best thing in it), but it was let down once again by the lackadaisical service and their initial disbelief that we had booked and paid for the meal in advance. Sorry Finnieston, there is a lot of competition in this stretch of Argyle Street these days. You'll have to pull your socks up if you want to stay in the game. We're certainly not inclined to return.

Yelp
(1) My waiter didn't bother telling me the specials. So I ordered off the menu and two minutes later he told the table behind me all about the specials, one of which was what I wanted, was half the price, and would have been better than what I had. Did my waiter forget that he had specials? What is going on here? (2) they don't understand how to seat customers at tables . They attempt to make each arriving guest wait at the entry while they stand in front of their computer terminal and "prepare the table" in a NEARLY EMPTY restaurant. I refused this nonsense and told them where I'd like to sit. Each customer who came in after me did the same. Hey Finnieston, listen up:,when the customer walks in you show them immediately to a table. You don't make them wait while you stare at your computer screen, baffled. The only reason to make a customer wait is if there are no tables available. (3) the hand dryers don't work - they make a lot of noise and don't dry anything- and there are no paper towels. I saw people coming out of both the men's and women's wiping their hands on their clothes. Seriously Finnieston? This place needs to figure out its nonsense. Maybe there needs to be a grownup supervising this restaurant and seeing the problems and doing something to fix them. The children don't know how to run the restaurant.

Yelp
Fabulous food and drinks! The steak and swordfish were so well done. My son loved the salt and pepper squid. Also loved the ambiance, modern pub, absolutely lovely! They were busy and service was good.

Yelp
Stopped by The Finnieston before and after dinner, still trying to make our way to the Italian restaurant we were headed too, but since we just had appetizers, we decided to stop for a drink, had a great time and told the bartender we will back, which in fact we were! Can't testify about the food, but I can talk about the drinks, because I did have a few! I do recall ordering The Fifty Fifty Martini and Bijou cocktail, and I had a few others ones too. The bartenders were friendly and even if the bar was crowded, you really didn't have long to wait for your next drink. The Finnieston will be one of my favorite bar hoping stops, looking forward to making my way back!

Yelp
Had a fantastic dinner here. The cocktail menu is inventive and extensive with snappy descriptions of what each drink entails, but because I am basic I ordered a vodka gimlet. (For the record, it was perfect.) I do feel bad that my waiter patiently walked me through the whole menu before I decided to just get the same thing I always do. Such is life. As for food, I started with the fish soup of the day which I believe was haddock, followed by the sea bass. I like to really lean into the whole seafood thing. As I ordered, my (friendly) waiter warned me that the bass was a rather small portion. This turned out to be totally untrue as I could barely finish it. But I did, because it was awesome. The soup was delicious, too. Finally, I found the prices almost comically low - sea bass costs like $30 at home as opposed to the £14 that I paid here, and I think my cocktail was £6; it easily would have been $14-16 in NYC at a restaurant of this caliber. Have I mentioned that I'm moving to Scotland?

Yelp
This was my first dining experience in Scotland and I was not at all disappointed! We had a team dinner here after our first day of meetings and were famished. They serve seafood, mussels, fresh fish, scallops, everything... I ordered the "whole fish" which came with the head, tail and bones. It was soooo good! Dave got the mussels, and everyone else got fish and chips. There was a little sharing going on, and everything was good. Luckily we scored the table right next to the fireplace, which was perfect for a cold winter night. The place was bustling, noisy and packed... we drank wine, had an excellent time. Next time I'm in Glasgow, I'll definitely return. Excellent find!

Yelp
I have a soft spot for The Finnieston because it's one of the first places in Glasgow that my partner and I went for a "proper" date. We loved it instantly and have always seen it as a bit of a treat whenever we've been back. I've eaten the food there a few time and, being a fan of fish, it has always been excellent. In particular I'm impressed with what they do with sea bream (my partner's favourite) and I strongly recommend whatever fish of the day they're offering - every time I've ordered it it has been perfect. Naturally enough, they do a mean fish and chips. Be warned that the portions are generous. I tend to get a starter and then discover I can't finish my main. However, if you're extra hungry, their soups are usually very good and if they have duck eggs on anywhere their starter list just order them and don't ask questions. They'll be perfect. There's a courtyard through at the back of the restaurant, which is the perfect place for sipping their brilliant cocktails in the sunshine, if you're lucky enough to experience Glasgow in the sun. If you're tall (or you feel no shame about standing on a shair) you can see the old railway line that runs behind The Finnieston from this courtyard.

Yelp
This is by far one of my favorite cocktail bars in Glasgow. The bartenders, atmosphere and drinks are awesome! I have had so many great times here, whether with work friends, out for a birthday, or just need a drink you can't go wrong with the Finnieston. I would love to tell you about their great smelling food, but alas I have not had the opportunity to eat here yet. So, I guess my five star review is for the bar!

Yelp
This place is just great! Can't wait to go back again! Such a nice atmosphere, the bartenders were great chat, explaining how they come up with their creations and offers help deciding. Food was incredible and not too pricey. Got two starters, two mains of market fish (sea bream), 2 sauces, 4 sides and 1/2 litre of wine for only £58! And I left feeling full! Loved the dining experience and with 100% be back again. Hats off to you! Now pass me another gin!

Yelp
In a word: Delicious!!! We were out for a dinner with some friends of ours and booked a table here. We arrived a bit early, but they had the table set up for us so we were able to sit down straight away. The restaurant is kind of down below the street- a few steps down anyway, but it adds to the ocean/boat feel this place has. Very trendy looking and nice decor, this restaurant is warm and inviting. After a quick hello, the waiter took our drinks order, some of us ordering cider and beer and a few of us ordering their gin drinks. We all looked over the menu (and at people who were eating around us) to try and figure out what to order. Their menu is a bit small, but there is definitely something there for everyone. To start, there are a selection of fresh oysters available with various sauces. Some of our friends ordered the mega plate of oyster and I believe the word "superb" was used in describing them. They also have small plates to order which varied from soups, mushrooms, scallops, salmon, etc. For the mains, there was your standard fish and chips for £12.95, which is anything but standard. I've been before and ordered their fish and chips and at the time, considered it to be the best I'd ever had. It comes with an option of other fish besides coley, which comes standard. A few people ordered the fish and chips and quite enjoyed their meal. They also have a market fish special, starting at £14.95 that comes with a pan fried bit of fish, two sides and a sauce. My guy and I decided to go with starters of mussels and the fish soup. Both very delicious and very fresh. I'd only ever had mussels once before this dinner, normally turning my nose up at them, but now I'm quite the fan. The mussels starter was spicy and came with a chunk of crusty bread and the soup had 4 mussels and loads of langoustine in it. SO good. For our mains, we went for the market fish of coley with sides of the regular chips, sweet potato chips, kale and green been and a pickled beet and daikon salad. The way they brought our food out was a little hap hazard, my guy's fish came out on it's own with all sides on separate plates. All was right in the world as he just dumped all his sides on his main plate and got on with eating. The fish was fresh and delicious and perfectly cooked. I quite enjoyed the sweet potato fries much more than the regular chips, but most of our friends loved their regular chips. The sides were all big enough where my guy and I were able to get a decent amount of each side to try, so were were loving life. All in all, everyone really enjoyed their meals here. The staff were friendly and made sure we were all taken care of and happy the whole 2 hours we had our table. Some of the table ordered post dinner cheese and wine, so we happily rolled ourselves out of the restaurant once we were done. We will happily come here again and again, it's great value for money and fresh as it comes.

Yelp
Great place for a stop for drinks. It's beautiful inside and friendly staff. The oysters with gin/cucumber was great. The burger was tasty. Love it!

Yelp
After a few delays.. it's here! Lebowski's friendly neighbourhood cousin, The Finnieston. A lovely warm inviting interior is the first impression I got from this place, quickly replaced by the exemplary service and ambience. Gotta love a bit of The White Album with dinner.. While I was aware that this place is a seafood joint, I would be lying if I said I wasn't expecting a wider variety in the menu. No sides to be found or anything like that, just 4 or 5 starters, 4 or 5 mains and 4 or 5 desserts and that was it, aside from daily specials. I had a lovely salmon salad with seaweed bread (better than expected) while my missus gulped down her first ever taste of oysters where the waiter would later innocently ask if she chewed or swallowed, such was the level of his loveliness. He was also keen to share his take on the dishes and how best to eat them. Main course o'clock and I went for a roast chicken dish with sauteed potatoes and wilted veg while my missus opted for a risotto that she assured me was the best she has ever tasted. Lovely food, well presented and perfectly cooked. No arguments whatsoever. The word from the waiter is that there is an immense variety of gin behind the bar, where I know the whisky is provided by a distillery called The Finnieston who seemingly have a manifesto to get more people drinking whisky by making it more interesting, in much the same way as the recent wave of flavoured ciders. Highlight of the experience was the waiter who was a genuinely lovely chap that makes me want to go back. Given the narrow variety on offer in the way of food however, I doubt I will go back anytime soon. If I do, it will likely be for a drink as the bill for 2 with starter and main each including a soft drink each clocked in at just shy of £40 which is a sum I'm only used to when I eat red meat. I think the deal is that they serve up fresh produce and so can only provide a limited menu to meet their aim honestly. They do what they do well. Back to the waiter, he signed the bill saying 'thanks for coming all the way from Finland', a level of personalisation I am not used to dining out. It put a warm smile on our faces and left us leaving in a smiley mood. Oh, and my missus is Finnish, to spare confusion.. Oh, and they have a beer garden. Oh, why don't you get yourself on down there!

Yelp
It had been over 2 years since I'd eaten at the Finnieston, and we headed along on a Friday night for some food. We'd made a booking in advance which I'd assumed would be essential, but actually the dining space was mostly empty when we were there and only started filling up when we were leaving closer to 8pm. Firstly, I'm *pretty* sure they had put my booking under Barney instead of Briony which is hilarious and yet a little bit WTF. As a group of 5 they seated us in a high booth table which was comfortable for the first 15 minutes and then you just can't actually find somewhere to put your legs and it was all a little bit cramped. Actually, quite a few features of the Finnieston are that little bit too cramped - the loos, in particular. You need to be a bit of a contortionist to get yourself in them. Your knees will probably be touching the door, that's how small they are. Onto the food. We decided to skip starters and just go for mains. I like the menu here - it's very fishy, so if that isn't your thing you might not find something to your tastes. The staff really know their stuff about the fishes on offer which is great to see, our waitress was really helpful at explaining the difference and the more unusual offerings. That being said, the menu changes as to what's available on a daily basis so it would be really helpful to have a printed menu with options as we had to get her to repeat herself a few times. I ordered from the specials and got cod with mint & coriander, dhal, yoghurt and pickled carrot. This was a lovely dish with hints of Indian spices throughout, and a nice sized portion. I can't fault the dish as it was really tasty and packed a nice punch. For dessert I got the cheeseboard which was £9.95 but had enough cheeses on it for everyone at the table to share. It was a perfectly reasonable cheeseboard but nothing really stood out as exceptional or interesting on it, just the usual cheeses you'd expect. As I said, service was good and very knowledgeable, and I don't remember any delays or issues with our orders. We split the bill up between the 5 of us and I think it was around £35 each which is on the pricier end of a meal out (others at the table were drinking, sadly I was driving) and I just didn't leave feeling all that wowed. That being said, The Finnieston is still one of my picks for places to drink along this strip so if you're interested in a fun gin selection, you should pop along here.

Yelp
Dang, beaten to the punch by Steven! Been excited to see this one for a while now and it did not let me down. T'was a Saturday night and the plan was to take the female canadian type one out for a spot of dinner to celebrate her 10 year 'whoop, they let her stay in the country!!' day. To The Finnie we went. In we stoated to be met with a friendly face that just seemed to set the tone for the entire evening. Served by three people over the course of the night, the chat was friendly, service attentive and with thought and attention paid. Spot on. The place feels excellent. Pub like at the front, with a more booth restaurant feel through the back... kinda like a reverse mullet... in a good way. It's cosy, well finished and feels like the kinda place you could hit up for a post work/weekend drink or dress up for a bit of fancy grub. Drinks wise, yeah I'm sure they have beer on the go but it kinda felt like a fancy event so I plumped for the most most manly (ahem) cocktail on the menu, the Rangoon Daisy (i think??). I believe it was gin based, but thats of little consequence when you take the first gulp. Bitter, sharp, packed full of flavor and total bang to the palette. Lovely. Ra grub. Without blathering on too much and boring folks, it's suffice to say that the fare is fishy in the Finne. The woman type is of west coast canada origin, so a pretty good judge of the fishy. She was not disappointed. With scallops and soup for starter, followed by giant king prawns and fish n chips for mains (all very tasty indeed), desert seemed like a foolish folly in the finne, but ah, what the hell. The lady plumped for the strawberry sorbet and I the pana cotta, both awesome. Ooh, kinda feel like I missed out the fish facts there. Scallop wise, they were fresh, very flavoursome and cooked to perfection (wife is uber picky about this). King prawns were indeed king size and served up on a wooden board that just looked awesome. The fish supper was fresh, well portioned but kinda left me wishing i'd opted for the chicken or beef instead (totally my tongues fault, just not a big fishy fan). Overall the experience was spot on, good food, great service and a very cosy feel to the joint. Pocket wise, it was reasonable for a 3 courser with drinks, but certainly not a pub grub bill. So why not the 5 stars? Well, I just feel that there is more to come with the Finnie. Given the high standard thats been set by the Lebowski boys, I just feel that this latest venture has a little tightening up to do, which I have no doubt will come with time. Having hit it for food, I'd like to drop by for a wee drink at some point and just see how it sits.

Yelp
The husband and I were very lucky to win two places on the "Best of the West" 7 course tasting menu from Yelp. I'd not been to The Finnieston before (husband had been for drinks) and was really looking forward to it. With me being heavily pregnant and us having a 4 year old we'd not been out for a nice dinner just the two of us for a while. I have to start by saying the evening didn't start as we planned. My mother-in-law (our babysitter) broke down on the Kingston Bridge on her way to pick up my son from school. My husband had to run from his work to get her and then go with tow truck to the garage and I had to run and pick up my son. I called and said is there any chance of a later booking (there wasn't) but the staff told me as long as we made it by 6:15 (booking was 5:30) it would be okay. We arrived pretty much bang on 6:15 so stressful start for us but staff were very accommodating. First thing I love anywhere where the bartender will make me a mocktail no bother--and a pretty one at that! Just because I can't drink alcohol doesn't mean I don't deserve and yummy and pretty drink :) Our first course was Peterhead Mackerel, beetroot, gooseberries, basil. I'm not a big mackerel fan but this was really yummy; I ate everything on my plate except the skin. Sorry I just can't eat fish skin! Husband agreed--the beetroot granita and gooseberries were a really nice contrast to the mackerel. Next we moved on to Scottish Goats Cheese, horseradish, heirloom tomato and dehydrated olive. I LOVED this. I love tomato and goat cheese so it was perfect for me. Husband was surprised to see he liked dehydrated olives (he doesn't eat normal olives) and I'm pretty sure I would have licked the plate if I was allowed. Third course was Wild Loch Clipped Trout pate, with homemade bread and butter. We were told one of the owners caught the trout himself. It was REALLY good. It came in a cute little faux tin and was my husband's favourite of the night. The preserved lemon on top of the pate was lovely and my only criticism is that I could have used more of the yummy tiny homemade bread. Fourth course came and was an Orkney Crab cake on pea soup with squid ink. My husband is a huge fan of pea soup and this was bright and fresh and really worked well with the crab. The crab cake itself was very simply coated in panko and really let the delicious crab meat shine. I don't often get fish/crab cakes because they are too mayonnaise-y or have coriander so this was a treat. Fifth course was the main course, but probably the most disappointing for us. Organic Sheltland Salmon, cucumber, baby gem, anchovy. The wee cucumber balls were our favourite thing on the plate. For me the salmon was just too fishy--maybe a pregnancy thing, maybe just I'm not the biggest fan of cooked salmon. The cooked lettuce was bland and in general the dish was just really underwhelming especially following the four previous courses. If I'm honest I hid all my salmon under the lettuce to make it seem like I ate it. Our sixth course and first dessert course brought things back again. Wild Scottish Strawberries, white chocolate, cheese, vanilla. We both really enjoyed it and thought it was a good dessert choice for someone (we assume) isn't a pastry chef. You know when you watch reality cooking shows and the contestants always balls up the dessert challenge? This is the sort of thing they should do---great technique and flavour. To close out the tasting menu our seventh and final course was Coconut, pineapple, lime which was a wee cake, some pineapple meringues and dollops of lime. The cake was moist and nice and as our son has an egg allergy I was really intrigued by the egg-free meringues. It was a nice way to finish off the meal although I'm not sure how pineapple and coconut are the best of the West! As far as the theme of "Best of the West" it did seem quite a few of the ingredients were not actually from the West Coast. All the seafood was Scottish so maybe just a broader name for the tasting menu would have been a bit more accurate. We had a lovely evening and I would definitely be back again. The staff were friendly and accommodating and everything was cooked extremely well. They had an extensive cocktail and wine list so I think we might hold off until I'm back on the wagon again! Thanks Yelp and Thank you to The Finnieston for a great night.

Yelp
I came here with some co-workers while in Glasgow, it was my birthday and wanted to try their Diplomático Rum cocktail (I am from Venezuela and was impressed our rum has travelled so far!) the ambiance relaxed but still upscale, the food was excellent and the drinks were superb. They even threw a nice birthday mini cake (which was off the hook) Highly recommended

Yelp
My first experience of The Finnieston was enough to have me declaring my love for the place to my pals and colleagues, but it was only the tip of the iceberg. Speaking of icebergs, my next trip here began with a pretty glass of water, containing an iceberg of Titanic proportions, which impressed me, but the best was yet to come. I had come along on the evening of The Finnieston's Best of the West Tasting Menu and Wine Dinner. I was keen to get involved although, as a vegan diner, I didn't expect to be fed as well as those here for the main attraction, but oh how wrong I was! I was amazed to arrive to my very own vegan menu, which was above any beyond any expectation or requirement but for which I was so grateful. My considerately catered menu was marvellous and each course was complemented by an accompanying wine. It was a glorious experience of perfectly paired drinks and dishes, with a wine expert keeping the bottles and banter flowing. From the delighted squeals of my dining companion, I gathered that the main menu was also amazing and he assured me that everything was cooked to perfection. Every dish was precisely and perfectly presented. I left, not stuffed and steaming, but perfectly balanced like the food itself and I floated home on a cloud of contentment after such a wonderful evening of being looked after by the lovely folk at The Finnieston. It makes such a difference when a place is run by and filled with genuinely decent people who are happy to gab away to you like an old friend, while exuding passion and enthusiasm for what they do. I know this is such a gushing declaration of adoration, but trust me and book a table if you haven't already been to The Finnieston as it really is the finest in town, best of the west and is unparalleled in its excellence.

Yelp
The vibe in The Finnieston is a trendy west end version of ye olde world fishing tavern I think - lots of wood and exposed brick walls. It was cool and I liked it. I do however have a couple of issues with where we were seated, which was in the extremely busy - standing-room-only bar. The biggest issue with where our table was located was the noise, which was incredible...I actually couldn't hear my sis-in-law half the time. This was on top of random people sitting at the end of our booth without asking, which was beyond rude and made things really uncomfortable for a less than ideal Saturday night dinner. I am sharing this - not to put you off going - but rather to flag up that when you make a booking (if you are looking for a more relaxed chilled dinning experience (like we were)) you may want to ask to be seated in the restaurant tables at the back rather than the tables in the bar. The staff were excellent, very attentive, helpful and friendly. Couldn't fault them even slightly. The menu is super fish heavy and so I was in pescetarian heaven. I ordered the scallops to start, described as: Hand dived scallops, Pork cheek tortellini, wilted spinach & cauliflower foam. This dish was spectacular and my favourite of the night. The scallops were large, lush and cooked to perfection. The tortellini really enhanced the dish by giving it a delicious fresh but meaty taste. A brilliant dish bursting with big flavours. I decided to go for the Market fish for my main, which was Coley with sides of Truffled Mash, Kale & Sugarsnap peas with a Rosemary & smoked garlic butter. The food arrived reasonably quickly considering how busy the restaurant/bar was. The dish looked beautiful - the large piece of light flaky fish had a perfectly crispy skin. The mash was okay, it was tasty enough but I definitely ordered wrong because my sis got chips and they were INCREDIBLE!! I enjoyed the kale and sugarsnap peas - they were seasoned nicely and added bite to the dish. The flavoured butter added a subtle zing to the dish and wasn't over powering in anyway. It's not a Saturday night if there's not dessert and I couldn't resist the Pistachio Bakewell Tart this normally comes with Rhubarb ice cream but since rhubarb is one of my food nemeses, I had it with vanilla instead. Served warm, the tart was light and slightly doughy, which for me was perfect. The pistachio added a lovely nutty flavour to the Bakewell tart. A beautiful dessert, which I would happily order again. The bill came to £83.20 for 2 three-course meals and some drinks. I was really pleased with the value for money. In all honesty, I wouldn't go back to eat at the Finnieston on a Saturday night as it was more of a bar than a restaurant and I found the general bustle of a busy Finnieston bar on a Saturday too noisy to enjoy it. I would however happily visit during the week

Yelp
Wow. Great meal, great venue and great service. I was so impressed with my meal from start to finish. I believe booking in advance gets you a good seat, as we sat just by the window and could people-watch. I had the scallops appetizer with the trout for a main. Really delicious! Cant say enough great stuff about it. Great date spot. Friendly service. Nice wines. Thank you!!!

Yelp
Yes. I was a big fan of this place. We only stopped in for one - I can't remember it's name now unfortunately, but it was one of their many, many versions of gin and tonics. I always like a place that has multiple gins and the same on tonics!! My version came with burnt orange in it which was a revelation - fresh, tangy and different whilst still tasting like a G&T and not a cocktail - exactly what I was after. The venue itself is dark, cosy, classy and I could see myself spending lazy Sundays here getting nice and toasty while getting nicely toasted... Will defo be back.

Yelp
Very high class drinks and dinner kind of place. We started with the roast quail along with a mackerel scotch egg and then got oysters along with then Pot of Seafood. Well that and a selection of their fine Scottish Whisky. Being from Kentucky (where Bourbon Whiskey is from), I was impressed with their selection of proper KY Bourbon in addition to the Scotch. Their Pot of Seafood included muscles, clams, oysters, a few other tasty sea things, and a big king prawn. It is a feast of Seafood meant to be shared by at least two people. Also, the music was a nice and the ambiance is very posh. This is the kind of place you'd take a new girlfriend to try and impress her. Having been married the past seven years, it certainly impressed both my wife and I. The service was also extremely good as all of the staff waited on us and was incredibly attentive.

Yelp
Had great night at this gem on Argyle street. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Had a few pints before dinner at Bar - atmosphere is very neat. Mussels to start were delicious and enjoyed by all. Fish and chips got rave reviews from my colleagues and my monk fish was great. I was fortunate that chef made me side of mushrooms that was on another dish - killer!

Yelp
Really good seafood, very attentive service. The portions were very good. We went in between meals, so I ordered the mussels and my husband had the sea trout. As appetizer we had the oysters and were very fresh and meaty. Compared to what you would pay for these in the States, it was pricey but then again it is Europe. The only complaint was the wine, which was waterdown.

Yelp
I don't understand how this restaurant cannot get a minimum of five stars!! Everything from how we were greeted to the friendliness of our server to his excellent recommendations and absolutely delicious food. The drinks were phenomenal and moderately priced compared to the over prices we pay in New York City. We wish we were staying another day so we could go again and have Matthew as our server! He was so kind and gave us wonderful recommendations and really made us feel comfortable and like we are important customers!! 5 star service!!!!

Yelp
One part boat, one part country pub, this place is super cosy and could lead to a sneaky shandy or three. Or better still a bottle of wine and a whisky an, whilst we're at it, a cold refreshing beer. Come here for the above mentioned drink and some very delicious seafood. This place has some seriously good oysters; creamy and textural. If you're an oyster fan I would highly recommend starting with them, to go with the long list of perfectly suited white wines. Then, the small plates/starters lineup make it very hard to choose as they all sound and look great. There's an asian inspired stuffed squid (like a squid sausage roll really), or a broken down pumpkin lasagne, there's sole and there is some scallops in langoustine bisque. I don't think that you can go wrong. I think they change the menu regularly. Main plates are cleverly set up so you choose a fresh fish of the day (there's usually 3 or so different types to choose from), pan fried, with your choice of two sides and a sauce. Lots of opportunity to get your greens or have some large, hand cut chips. Or, you can have good ole fashion fish and chips. Very friendly, lovely staff. Service with a very large smile.

Yelp
Popped in here on the way to find an Italian and thought we would check if they had a table & one that had room for a pram which they did. Both my husband and I love seafood so we couldn't wait to try the menu. We got 3 oysters with different toppings which tasted nice but didn't like that they cut them to the thicker side of the shell and not the natural spoon shape (picky I know). For starts I had the paella which came with a small piece of fish but was really tasty & not cardboard tasting Beetroot chunks. My husband got the lobster bisque which to be honest only tasted of faint tomato. The small pieces of lobster didn't taste of much either, was very disappointed with this. For mains I opted for the fish and. Chips to which you get a choice of fish, nice touch. I opted for the code which was delicious but the chips are too thick and home made style. I loved the little pickles in a jar and I also got a side of coleslaw which was lovely. My husband got the Toulouse sausage cassole side which actually came on the plate hmmmm but was tasty and a piece of fish with a smoked garlic and lemon butter. He also got a sode of collared greens, he liked them but they tasted very bland and watery to me. The house white wine was nice as was the Prosecco. The service was good and friendly. Our table was right at the chefs hot plate ara which is also at the beer garden door so was nice and bright. I would go back but won't be anytime soon.

Yelp
I love this place. And I so wish I could give it five stars, but there's just one thing holding it back. The food is amazing. The cocktails are delicious - and though it's often busy, it's now expanding into the premises next door so that should ease things a little. Yes, some things on the menu often run out, but I'm happy with that in a fish restaurant - I'd rather things were turned over fast and remained fresh, as long as a decent amount remains on the menu. (Though this is so common an occurrence at the FInnieston, it's something that could be improved). But... but... the service. I've eaten here several times now and not once has the service been up to scratch. The first time, I thought it was because we were in an 'out of the way' table. The second time, it was really busy. The third time we were the only ones in there at lunch and the waiter was overbearing to the point that we would have complained if it hadn't felt so awkward. The fourth time, we were ignored again. And eating there again last week, we were left waiting 40 mins for starters. It turned out our order had accidentally been binned. I can't quite work out how they can't nail the service. It's not a huge restaurant by any means. But the service means it's always last on our list of places to call if we're eating in the area - if Ox and Finch and Crabshakk are full, then we try again. And every time, the service is a let down. However - drinking there, and especially the garden, is always a pleasure. But the food service really needs fixing.

Yelp
Went here with three friends while at a conference. We got seated in a booth at the windows facing out to the street. Our server was very nice and they came by often enough to keep our drinks well refreshed. The drinks here are excellent, especially if you like gin. I tried one of their gin and tonics, The Scientific, to see what they could do with a basic drink and was impressed, so I tried one of their more elaborate cocktails, the Corcovan?, and was very, very pleased. Great drinks! The food was wonderful too. They specialize in fish and all of it had a nice freshness. Three of us split a dozen oysters as an appetizer, while the fourth had the mussels. Everyone was very happy. Then we all ordered the market fish for the main course, with an assortment of side dishes. The fish was light and a good portion, so that we all left the restaurant comfortably sated. It was a good, satisfying meal.

Yelp
God, I love it here. LOVEITLOVEITLOVEIT annnnnd that about gets it out my system! So much to love under one cosy roof. Rustic and like an old worldly tavern from the north of Scotland, it's got so much to offer. Smashing food served up on wooden platters - the melt in your mouth fish and chips is a winner - and any fish on the menu, come to think of it. As far as I can tell they use locally sourced produce and promote Scottish businesses. great selection of ales and beers (and gin which has proven dangerous in the past). The staff know their stuff and can give you a hot low down on what beers and wines might interest you. They've got a secret beer garden at the back for summer nights, and a roaring wee fire for winter evenings. Spent a lot of great nights in here, and it's always one of the pubs I show people if they're visiting Glasgow for the first time. The bar staff are friendly and actually have hilarious banter with you if it's quiet. They should think about doing their own stand up in here, great chat. The bar is always busy which is a sign of a thriving livelihood. Can't sing its praises enough.

Yelp
Had the most delicious food here and that's where my stars come from. The room was freezing, the food is overpriced and they had run out of quite a few things on the menu. They can't cater all that well for a large group in the restaurant. There were seven of us and we were placed in a corner where two tables for four sit. It was ok but you don't really feel altogether. We were pre-warned about this in advance but want to flag it up for anyone organising a large party. After nearly falling off my chair when I was told the lemon sole would be £22 I chose a dish baked in paper for a more reasonable £14 and it was so tasty. The portion size was fine but noticed that this wasn't uniform. However, the size of the date pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream was huge and it was very good indeed.

Yelp
Had several lunches and a couple of dinners here and have never been disappointed. Love the ambiance, friendly yet very proper service and the food - clever combinations of simple tastes and textures. Today looking for a brunch venue on the second of January in Finnieston, and finding many places closed, we entered this warm welcoming bar/restaurant. There was a free booth in the window but we were taken through to the restaurant area at which point we realised the usual lunch menu of soup, sandwiches and other less formal dishes was not available - oops. Our waitress wasn't convinced that the small plate each we'd ordered would be enough but we were very happy with our Valencian paella featuring rabbit, and a bowl of mussels. Three stars is a bit mean considering how tasty our food was but we did feel a bit awkward not ordering a full meal and it might have been helpful to have the menu situation pointed out when we entered. Ach well I'll add another star for simply being open.

Yelp
I have been to The Finnieston a few times now, since being recommended it by my Hairdresser of all people. Each time I have been it has never failed to deliver on all account. Located perfectly on Argyll Street this nautical themed eatery has a real relaxed charm and cozy feel, with its dark wood, low ceilings and open fire, making it the perfect place for both a relaxing afternoon and a evening meal. The food is excellent, a wide variety of fresh, local fish & shellfish. On this occasion I went for salmon 3 ways, based on the advice of my friendly/knowledge waitress. For mains it was the Open Fish Finger Sandwich. A modern twist on a classic, complete with homemade tartar sauce and a poached duck egg. The drinks aren't half bad either, with a good selection of beers and cocktails. Though its on the cocktails where they really excel. Being a gin joint, martinis and prevalent. My favourite being their take on a 'Dirty Martini'. My only criticism is if you're sitting in the back it can get pretty chilly so ask for a seat up front or wrap up well. All in all a great addition to this up coming part of Glasgow!

Yelp
Over priced? Very!! Out for an afternoon in Finnieston we started with lunch in this place! It was a hard decision on what to select but I seems I made the right choice. To start I had Peroni red! For starters I went for the mussels! It was a small portion but just right for a starter size. Then for mains I went for the beer batter special fish and chips!! Firstly the fish came two big portions and then came the batter it was cooked in! Wow! Crispy and full of flavour. The fish of the day was Coly, cooked perfectly! The chips were small but it was just the right amount ( for me). Overall I really enjoyed my food however extremely expensive!

Yelp
I've now been several times and always enjoyed The Finnieston, despite once having a poor plate (overcooked rabbit). Nice menu, seafood based, but good game alternatives with a small but well selected wine list. The bar also serves extensive cocktails. I've found the service to be friendly and warm if variable in attentiveness.

Yelp
Came here for Sunday lunch today which was £15 for one course and a drink (house wine or Sam Smiths beer). Wasn't that impressed with the meal as it was quite a small portion, especially for the price. The beef was pretty tough too, I ended up finishing some of Julie's which she had given up on due to an aching jaw from too much chewing. The range of beers is OK but it would be good to see a real ale or two added, and some proper craft beers too.

Yelp
We met up with some family for lunch yesterday and decided to give this place a go. I had read good reviews online and heard via friends that the food was excellent. The food is ok, however in my opinion it's very small portions and way to expensive. For starters I had Cullen skink. It was ok, a bit bland, but not bad. It also came in the smallest bowl they could have found, not the usual for this starter and I was very disappointed. For mains I had a special for that day. Octopus, clams and chorizo stew with bread. This came in the biggest bowl I have ever been served in a restaurant. However when I opened it there was hardly anything inside! The stew itself was nice, but with a stew in my head you get a hearty large portion. This was a tiny portion. For both starter and mains I got bred on the side and again they were definitely trying to make sure my calorie in take was kept to a minimum. I did try a bit of T's beer battered fish and chips and they were lovely. I think if I ever had to go back, that is what I would get. One plus point was I got to try a new beer. Bellerose is a French beer and it was a decent tasting dry beer. So in sum, it was ok, but expensive. Don't go if your very hungry, as you will need to eat again pretty soon afterwards!

Yelp
The Finnieston is fast becoming my favourite pub in Glasgow. It's an inviting, warm, snug pub, with a roaring fire in the colder months, old wooden furnishings, shelves filled with antique books and marine paraphernalia. As you step foot inside you get the sensation of being whisked away to a wee countryside pub. It's just a great place to escape all the hussle and bussle of a busy life. The music is often mellow and relaxed which adds to the ambiance perfectly. The bar is well stocked with some quirky, new beers and the staff have always been friendly and quick to serve. Still waiting to try the food, but if it pasts my strict taste test it'll be 5 stars all the way.

Yelp
As we were doing, this is a great place to meet out-of-towners to give them a flavour of the "new" West End ie Finnieston and Yorkhill. It is, I reckon, the best of the bars in the area, it feels casually sophisticated in service and in look, it's traditional wood-panelled interior, old books, fishy ornamentation, it's beer garden and huge range of beers and cocktails all impress, but equally important is the food. Of course the menu is mostly fishy too, and a bit pricey, but is it worth the expense? Well, on this visit I had the Pan-Seared Wood Pigeon (with celeriac and potato rosti, beetroot puree and pickled giroles) and for the main Double Hand-Dived Loch Sligachan Scallops (with Louisiana style crab cakes and sweetcorn relish). The waitress was dead friendly and explained to us all what the specials were in detail, and to me specifically what "double" hand-dived means - I'll let them tell you that. My pigeon was brilliant, the whole ensemble worked perfectly, it looked great and the pigeon was soft and rich. My scallops were also top, even the rather off-putting sounding sweetcorn relish was consumed with gusto. I've eaten here a few times, and never had anything close to an average meal. Not everyone loves it it seems from other reviews, but the four of us did on that day, and for me it's consistently high standard makes me wonder if it may be the best bar restaurant in the city!

Yelp
Following a long lazy lunch at Ox & Finch (see my other review), we stumbled round the corner, plonked ourselves on bar stools in the window and started working our way through the cocktail menu. The bar wasn't packed but sufficiently busy to create a nice mellow and buzzy atmosphere. I probably won't list all the cocktails we had......let's just say we had quite a few. We pretty much tried all of the gin cocktails, and a couple of the others. The Seafarer, Finnieston Club and RAC Club were stand outs. Service was fantastic, with each cocktail lovingly prepared and served to our table with a smile. I love this place.

Yelp
Fabulous spot. Small, intimate and classy atmosphere. Top shelf service. Had a beautiful gin cocktail. Fresh mussel starter was delicious, as was the salt and pepper catch of the day. Loved the decadent rice pudding for dessert. This was a highlight of our time in Glasgow.

Yelp
The fish was tasty, and we particularly enjoyed the broccoli-almond side, and the parmesan truffle fries.

Yelp
We absolutely loved the food, drinks, and overall atmosphere here! The food was creative and delicious. Tables are a bit small but it was totally worth it.

Yelp
I do love The Finnieston, I really do. Previously I had only been for drinks - catch up with friends drinks, squished at a tiny table drinks, Yelp Cocktail Masterclass drinks (hosted by Porter&Rye, but what's the difference? - actually, I'll get to that later) and finally I was invited along to Carolyn E. and her marathon man friends drinks and dinner (success!). Here's why I like The Finnieston: I love the atmosphere, I love having to walk down two steps to walk in. I love that it's dark and rustic inside, and I love the little touches everywhere. I love how friendly the waiting staff is, I love how knowledgeable the staff is too. I adore their drinks menu and the relatively reasonable prices too. The food menu is very reminiscent of the next door neighbour Porter&Rye (I don't want to talk about it), with a great selection of small plates, starters, a market menu that the waiter will tell you about (get out your notepad!) and sauces and sides to choose to have with your choice market menu fish. Now, do not judge me, but I went for the breaded fish and chips - I had heard great things about the fish and about the chips, and I let myself be convinced. Apparently I had coley as my fish. It was incredible. The breading was great and even the mushy peas were wonderful. The chips were definitely fried multiple times and they were good- but honestly, I loved my fish too much to care about the chips. Next time I want all the rest of the fish on the market menu (salmon, coley, haddock and something else - check out Carolyn E's review). I did not order a starter, I don't think I was hungry enough. However, I did, relatively obviously (without my noticing), stare at the other diners food. I'm not proud, but man did their food look great. They gave me some amazing recommendation which I shared with my table and all was well. Three of our dining group ordered the oysters. I have yet to try oysters, but I was SO close to just grabbing one of them and scooping that stuff in my mouth, that is how good they looked. Fresh and wonderful, served in their shells on matching oyster plates. The Bloody Mary ones have quite the kick to them and the haggis crumb ones are a little dry, so you will be chewing those. Their little outside beer garden is also a hidden gem. Keep that in mind when you're on your next hunt for a space in the sun!

Yelp
Arrived for food and waited ages to be seated even though there was several staff milling about. Had to eventually be asked to be seated. Was told there'd be a wait so waited at the bar. Lost patience after waiting to be served, staff seemed more interested in chatting to each other. Ended up walking out, will definitely not be back. Unwelcoming, unfriendly and rude.
