We so wanted to love this property. It was our last stay on a glorious two week road trip. We were booked for two nights. Upon arrival in Whitefish, we dropped our bags in the room before heading out to a pub to eat and watch the World Series. While using the bathroom, we noticed something splattered on the frosted glass doors of the bathroom as well as a couple of dead flies on the floor. It happens. Upon our return, I grabbed the ice bucket to get some ice from the machine that was conveniently located near the elevators. The bucket had water in it that had been there long enough to develop mildew. I took it to the front desk and asked for a clean one and was told they didn’t have one. “Can I have something to put ice in?” He offered a plastic bag. I asked for at least a bowl. He went to the restaurant, spoke to someone there and then came back with a champagne bucket. After that, we then started noticing the general lack of cleanliness in the room beyond the splatter on the bathroom door and dead flies. It was not good. Since the gentleman at the front desk was no help, I filled the slow draining sink with water and soap and used a couple of washcloths to wipe down the counters, window sills, side tables, etc. The cloths were filthy. the next morning, the same person was at the desk. We told him about the condition of the room. He stared blankly. We asked for a manager on duty. She wouldn’t be in until noon. When we returned, she was in an interview. Finally, late that afternoon, I was able to talk with her. She apologized, asked if we wanted to change rooms (no, because I imagined any other room would be just as dirty and one I had already cleaned) and she offered vouchers to the restaurant, which we were not interested in. Then she offered to discount our room, which turned out to be about a 20% discount. Honestly, if we did not have to be in the area the next morning, we would have cut our trip short. We were also surprised to have paper cups for the coffee and next to the sink instead of anything reusable. There were two glasses with the ice bucket, but they had fingerprints on them. Needless to say, it was a big disappointment.
